I'm from Southern California where good Chinese food is abundant. Every time I visit Utah, I always make sure to visit Drunken Kitchen. Sometimes I eat here two days in a row because it's just that good. The restaurant recently opened their doors to all ages which is a huge plus. But kids can only eat inside the restaurant (patio seating is 21+). Today, my family had the "DK Experience" which is a six course meal that feeds 4-6 people. It was PLENTY of food and everything was delicious. You do not need to order anything extra because it is a good amount of food. The best part is the duck - so flavorful and beautifully cooked. We spent about 2 hours here as each course is made to order, so be aware of that if you're also ordering the DK Experience. My favorite dish here is the Three cup chicken. The flavor has so much depth and is beautiful seasoned. Be sure to visit during their lunch happy hour for the best deals in town. Came here for lunch with a friend on a Thursday and there was a decent amount of people for a random weekday! The restaurant is partnered with/located inside of Grid City Beer Works. There was plenty of seating! We sat at the bar, our server was great and attentive. They have restaurant favorites and drink specials posted on the signs. For drinks my friend got the Blueberry Lav French 75 and I got the Huckleberry Mule. Our drinks were great! I've also tried the Grid City Bubble Works canned drinks before and I'd highly recommend those as well! We ordered the Pork Potstickers, Marinated Cucumbers, and Dan Dan Noodles as was recommended by our server. The pork potstickers were super dense and the wrapper was tough, unlike most other potstickers I've had. The marinated cucumbers had a great texture, but were very salty. Our favorite were the Dan Dan Noodles. The sauce was flavorful and seasoned well. The only issue was how difficult it was to eat the huge pieces of bok choy. This has been on my list for a while, and the food did not disappoint! We sat outside on the patio since it was such a beautiful day and seriously the best views of the mountains! For food, we ordered the potstickers to share, Dan Dan noodles (spice level 2), and the three cup chicken. Everything was delicious! The potstickers were good, but I personally prefer them a little crispier, these were more soft and chewy. My husband actually liked them that way though. My Dan Dan noodles were super flavorful, and spice level 2 was perfect, I wouldn't go higher or lower. My husband liked his three cup chicken, but didn't realize it came as a full chicken, so it took a little work to eat. Also, they didn't give us utensils to use, so we had to ask for them. Drunken Kitchen is delicious! I came for dinner recently we sat at the bar since it was busy. I got the Dan Dan Noodle and my friend got the Braised Short Rib Beef Noodle Everything was delicious, but the braised short rib beef noodle really impressed me. The beef was so tender that it just fell apart and the broth was so comforting and flavorful. I can't wait to come back and try more! read more

We tried a few dishes including the pan fried buns, mapo tofu, 3 cup chicken, and Dan Dan noodles. Everything was delicious! My *only* complaint is that you had to pay for extra rice. It costs so little, so I'm sad to see that you can't ask for more without an additional fee. The rice that comes with the dishes is about a cup worth and not quite enough to go with the entree (sauce/meat ratio to rice was off). Other than that, we had a great time. The staff were very welcoming and our server, Izzy was great with recommendations and was also very patient with it being our first time at the restaurant. Finally tried this place out after seeing them all over social media. We went hoping to get Duck Fried Rice, only to discover it was a seasonal item no longer available. We opted for the Mongolian Beef and Sticky Ribs. For the good - the cocktail and beers = excellent. The sticky ribs were out of this world delicious! Do not skip them! Mongolian beef though.... Was super disappointing. The beef was so chewy and tough it wasn't even worth finishing. Hopefully we will be back to try other menu items! read more

Located inside of Grid City Beer Works. It's one of the best things the brewery could've done for itself as the food being made before Drunken Kitchen was incorporated into the brewery was not very good. I tried 3 items. Pork Pot Stickers, Taiwanese Fried Chicken, and Taiwanese Beef Noodle Soup. The pot stickers were a good size and stuffed generously. I enjoyed them. The fried chicken was my favorite out of the three. Incredibly moist, out of this world crispy skin, and the sauce kicked it up a notch on the spicy heat scale. The beef noodle soup was delicious although the broth was very rich. Definitely can tell it's been braised for a long time. I was not able to finish it because of how rich it was. Which is not a bad thing. I did finish it off the next day for leftovers. Wouldn't mind returning to try other dishes. It is a little pricey for those who are on a budget. Just an FYI. read more

Came in a few minutes before close, they were able to seat us at the bar. Grid City and Drunken Kitchen were very chill about letting us hang out past close while we chowed down. The Dan Dan Noodles and Bone-in Braised Short Rib Noodles were both awesome, as was the cucumber app. Kept the bone for the dogs! At the end, owner/chef Joe was around and came by to say hi. While the ribs, dan dan noodles, and chicken were spot on delicious... the amazing service was the highlight. The four of us were sharing plates to try everything that we could from their menu, including their chicken sandwich. They split the sandwich and served it in quarters on different plates... rarely do you get this type of service! I will say the sandwich was our least favorite and was dry. Not sure if the owners of both are the same, but they run parallel with each other in the space. Food overall was great. Huge portion size so keep that in mind when ordering. All the food sound and are delicious, but you may be having a lot of left overs since they give you so much food. Braised beef noodle soup was comforting on a cold day. Beef was so tender, and the pickled veggies was a nice add into the soup. Takwense fried chicken was great. Massive sandwich with a ton of fries to come with it. I liked the sandwich but I think the avocado aioli wasn't needed. It kind of overshadowed the spices of the chicken. Drinks are really affordable here. You can get a 12 oz beer for $4 or a flight for $8 (with peanuts). Fun time here at Drunken Kitchen. It was a very memorable restaurant during my visit to Salt Lake. read more

I've been curious about this spot since I drive by it every day on my way to and from work. It was a little underwhelming for my expectations. The prices were higher than expected, however they deliver on quantity. The flavors contained a lot of ginger for the four appetizers we ordered. Every dish was very hot except for the sticky ribs, which even had spots in the middle that were just barely warm. The sauces on the bao buns and fried chicken didn't hit like we thought they would but added an interesting complexity. In the end, there was no doubt we were both full leaving Drunken Kitchen. There is not a single thing on this menu that isn't just delicious, it's mind-blowingly delicious. My husband and I like to joke that there's a Utah 5 stars and then there's a California 5 Stars. This place is a California 5 F*CKING STARS. Flavors are intense, authentic, and out of this world. They have plenty of gluten free and vegetarian options, their portions are HEFTY and the service is top notch. I'd been craving noodles, so I was super excited when my friend suggested we try this place. The rooftop is gorgeous with AMAZING mountain views. It is a bar, so everyone has to be 21+ and have their id to be scanned. They have coverings for shade, and we were lucky to be there on a gorgeous day. My friend and I both got Diet Cokes, and they were both entirely flat and un drinkable. My husband liked the beer he got. We started with the potstickers. They were good, but I wanted them to wow me a little more. For my entree, I got the pork buns, and the were incred. The bun itself was incredibly soft and delicious. The meat in these was juicy and had a little kick to it. My husband got the beef noodle soup. This was my favorite thing I ate. The noodles are amazing and totally satisfied my noodle craving. The meat was also very tender, and the flavor of the broth was great. My friends got the veggie Dan Dan noodle and the three-cup chicken. I tried the Dan Dan noodle and thought the flavor was interesting. The noodles themselves were perfect. The chicken was work to eat but tasted pretty good. It is on the pricier side, but the portions are big. Services was okay. We had to ask for plates, utensils, and napkins. Chill vibes. I'd go back. I really wanted to like this place given the reviews I've read & the social media posts. Maybe it was just a bad night. Either way, I was really disappointed. It was my birthday dinner that my besties brought me out & we wanted to try something new. Place wasn't too packed but it was up & bumping as a bar should be. Really cute bar/restaurant shindig. Hostess got us to our table quickly & Izzy got us started not too long after that. Immediately, we were already told the fried chicken appetizer was sold out. Which was one of the things we really wanted to try. Bummer! No problem. We got half order of oysters, calamari, & sticky ribs apps to start. Oysters came out first, nothing exciting. Calamari came out later & it was fried to perfection with a little bit of a kick. Awhile later, another waitress comes to tell us that they are now sold out of sticky ribs. Disappointing given that the table next to us just got 2 orders of that. We then ordered pot stickers - which took much longer. In the process one of my besties gets her entree - DanDan Noodles. Then another 15-20 mins I get my Pork Belly entree. Minutes later, same waitress comes back to inform my other bestie that she regrets to inform her but they no longer have the Eggplant Katsu because it was either forgotten, burned, or sold out. Mind you, we didn't get the pot stickers but we just let them know to cancel it because we didn't want to stay any longer than we have been. I don't get the hype. Despite the good service, the food is uninspiring. Their potstickers, for example, have been voted as the best in Salt Lake City, yet they proved to be mediocre at best. 3rd time was the charmed experience for us. We tried them when they first started at a different location and was not impressed with the dry pork belly. Then tried to try them last week but was sent away because our puppy lost his rabies tag. We brought proof of his vax this time. We got to enjoy the outdoors views, great food and service. I went for lunch with a friend and former coworker of mine a couple of weeks ago. Little did we realize it was inside Grid City Works, as we were both confused as to if we were in the right place. The "DK" logo outside of GCW helped a little. How had I not noticed that before? The food was really good! I did have to try the 1000 year old egg. That was quite interesting. I'd get it again. I went with the Pork Belly Bowl and my friend got the Beef Short Rib Soup. I did end up taking some of my food home since it was a pretty big portion. My friend enjoyed her soup too, and she ended up taking most of hers home too. She did mention that she didn't know where to start with her soup as it was a lot of food and it filled the bowl to the almost brim! The food was a little pricey, but overall worth it. Mad respect to these owners who blend their experience from other restaurants and fine dining into casual affordable high quality dishes. If your still not deep into great Chinese food, get the chicken sando with fries and your happy. If your venturing into it a little, Taiwanese fried chicken packs a kick with their custom rub and the sticky pork ribs are for anyone, ribs rock a tasty sticky glaze. If you want a different take, go for the marinated cucumbers or mango sticky rice: unique takes on the traditional Thai dessert. Favorites of the traditional include the pork pot stickers, pan fried pork buns, dan dan noodles (nice take on traditional version) and Taiwanese beef noodle bowl. What helps set them apart is their handmade noodles and dough, bold flavors and willingness to re-create. Keep it up R-bros! The seasoning is like Taiwanese popcorn chicken, which I am a huge fan of! I did notice they increased the prices on the dishes recently. Though that is unfortunate for the consumer, that's just the economy we are in. However, this place does not skimp you on quantity or quality! Honestly I love DK! I have felt SLC has needed a solid spot like this. I love that it's now at Grid City. Convenient location with plenty of parking and super great suds to try as well. We have now tried a variety of items and have loved every single thing we have tried. I especially love the hand pulled noodles in the soups, and the fresh made potstickers also the marinated cucumbers are a nice fresh touch. The service is always friendly and it's usually quick and they have lots of beer and seltzers as well as a full bar. As far as ADA accessibility, it's easy to get into the first floor and the bathroom is accessible however, you cannot access the rooftop patio. read more

Came here for a casual anniversary dinner. We got the Dan Dan noodles, Taiwanese fried chicken and a beer flight. The Dan Dan noodles were pretty good 8/10. Noodles had a great chew. Though we got a medium spice which was not too spicy at all. The fried chicken was more than expected for an appetizer but it was perfect to pair with the Dan Dan noodles. For the beer flight, it usually comes with peanuts but my fiancé and I are both allergic lol. Overall, the ambiance was fun and casual on a Wednesday night. Service was amazing. This was amazing. I've been to Drunken Kitchen twice now, and they have absolutely delivered. This is probably some of the best Asian cuisine in SLC. I have now tried a good amount of their menu, and everything has been above average to amazing. I highly recommend the dan dan noodles, the mapo tofu, and the bone in braised short rib beef noodle soup. The fact that they're located in Grid City is also amazing because their beers are top notch. Our waiter was very knowledgeable of the menu and gave us great beer recommendations. It's casual but nice. Normally, beer bars or breweries have pretty mediocre food--but here, you can get the environment of a decent beer bar but with the food menu of a high, high quality Taiwanese restaurant. The only one thing is that because the food is made right, it takes a little longer. In my eyes, a small, inconsequential price to pay for some of the best food in SLC. read more

The entree prices are about $10 more than you'd pay in Chinatown on 33rd South and State, so thought: "This will be something special". I was wrong. I had the pork belly - honestly very pedestrian. Nothing special at all, small bits of pork belly with mushroom and bok choy in a overly heavy soy base. No nuance, no joy. Really disappointing. The jasmine rice was the best thing about it. My son had the mabo dofu. It was just "good", but China Taste in China town has better and its $10 less! Okay, I know its a trendy place and the microbrew vibe makes the prices more, but every table around me was drinking beer from a can. Say what??? I get that this is slow food, but very little communication from our waitress and one entree that came out almost 15 min after the rest. I still tipped 15% - I felt obligated. I just don't get it. The fried chicken was a little bit disappointing, less flavorful than I'd have liked, and lacking a dipping sauce. The dan dan had handmade noodles, thick and chewy with a generous helping of peanut sauce: great attention to detail is easily observable in the house-roasted (or at least re-roasted) peanuts, our table concluded this was the best thing we ordered. Finally I was able to try out this place. I been following them on social media for a long time. They had amazing photos and great reels post. I was so happy when they finally got a brick and mortar sit down from their to-go order only. The location is next to a hotel on state right before I-80. It's a shared kitchen with a boba and Argentina place. The service here is very meh. The video made them seem very happy and excited to be there. But when I went, it seems like they keep rushing me through my order. And if you ask them for anything outside of the order they get really offended. I asked for a side chill oil and got scoffed and glared at. Now about the food. The fried rice is very gingery. If you don't like ginger you won't like this dish. The fried chicken is amazing. Crispy and flavorful. The mapo tofu is yummy. Flavorful, but does have a lot of ginger as well. The 3 cup chicken was a bit of disappointing. It's very watery, so the flavor isn't as strong.
