We had a terrific experience here today. After our regular pho place in Friendswood made me sick…read moremultiple times in a row I decided we needed to find a new noodle place. Wonder Pho came through. Our server Emily was very helpful and went above and beyond to make us comfortable and happy. I ordered a very straightforward Build Your Own pho. It was delicious. The broth was rich and had all the correct flavors. The meat offerings were correct. I had filet - some places no longer offer that option. My mom had the wonton soup with egg noodles. I ate most of it as leftovers. The dumplings were big and stuffed. The pork pieces were correct. The atmosphere is very standard Vietnamese restaurant. It looks newish and cleaner than most though. We will definitely be back.

The staff, especially the owners, are incredibly friendly and often stop by to chat with your table, which gives the restaurant a warm, welcoming feel. We came by after a tennis tournament, and it ended up being the perfect post match meal. Although I am Vietnamese, I had never tried Banh Bot Chien (fried rice cake with egg) before, so I was excited to finally have it here. It definitely lived up to my expectations. The rice cakes were chewy on the inside with a crispy exterior, and the sauce paired with them was absolutely delicious. It is easily a must order dish. My dad and I also shared the Bun Bo Hue (spicy Vietnamese noodle soup). I thought it was fairly standard, not the most memorable bowl I have had, but still solid and enjoyable. For $12.99, the portion size is huge and could easily stretch into multiple meals, which makes it a great value. Overall, I really enjoyed trying this place, especially for the Banh Bot Chien and the welcoming service. While not everything stood out, it is a solid local spot that I would come back to when I am in the area.

We walked in a more laid back time with not many people and seated ourselves. There were a few items on the menu I had to mentally translate since I'm familiar with the names of the dishes when I eat in Chinatown-Little Saigon. I decided to go with the Vietnamese coffee and rock and roll beef also known as Vietnamese shaking beef. I did make an adjustment and did fried rice and an egg on top. The Vietnamese coffee is solid. It has that flavor and concentration you expect especially phin filter with condensed milk. The rock and roll beef is a good choice too. The steak cubes are tender and has the nice accompaniment of onions, tomatoes and cucumber. The sauce packed that nice garlic punch which the steak absorb. The fried rice is a nice upgrade from regular white rice but both would be good choices. Overall it was a nice visit to Pho Hoang. It was very straightforward and our server was nice too. No complaints. From my personal experience of drinking Vietnamese coffee for years, I think my tolerance is much stronger to it and found this one today as concentrated but not as bold like I am used too. But this is still very good. There are some staple dishes offered and seen also include a fried fish platter and a few other additions. No desserts on the menu and strictly just classic Vietnamese dishes.
