On a dark and dreary day I stopped in at Pho and Grill nearby in Cromwell. Their pho is quite good with a tasty broth and noodles. The add-ons arrive separately encased in plastic wrap; freshThai basil, bean sprouts, sliced jalapeño and a lemon wedge. I chose the meatball option but would probably add the rare flank steak next time. Added a touch of Hoisin sauce and sriracha for more depth. This made for a homey meal on a cold day. We've been to dozens of pho restaurants across the country, and this one was just added to our list of favorites! We ordered your standard pho ga or pho with chicken, and it was delicious. The broth was flavorful and not overly salted, and came with a generous portion of bite-sized chunks of moist, tender chicken. The garnish plate of sprouts, lime, basil, and pepper slices was incredibly fresh and crisp. We also ordered two different teas (lychee, milk) with white pearls, which were fabulous. The owners - husband and wife - were very welcoming and helpful. We have a young child and they were quick to offer a (very clean!) high chair and patiently explained a milk tea to us. Finally, we were impressed with the quality of their chopsticks (so much so that we saved them!), and that the soup spoons had a little hook on the end so the spoon would not slide off the edge of the bowl and down into the soup. These may be small nit-picky things, but they really make a meal so much more enjoyable. Who likes fishing their spoon out of a bowl of hot soup?!? read more

My husband and I went there last weekend. I was craving for beef noodles so we googled and found this restaurant which is pretty close to home. I love the ambience, bright and clean. The owner was so friendly and attentive. I had the shrimp pho and my husband got the beef. I prefer the beef more than the shrimps the spring rolls was delicious. Next time I will try the beef noodle. You can always add flavor to your food if you wanted to. There is a rotating dish for all the sauces you can imagine. I wish people are not so fussy lol. Got my wife to agree to Vietnamese for lunch. I figured she would do bao or a salad but she surprised me and did pho. She had the fried spring rolls and the rare flank steak pho. Myself I started with the shrimp and pork fresh rolls. Then I had the pho with brisket tendon and beef balls. The broth was delicious. She got full part of the way through. Saw a lot of positive reviews of this place and thought I'd check it out. I enjoy a good Pho so that was my go to here. I have to say, it did not meet the expectations I had. The service was spectacular why I still gave 3 stars. But the Pho was one note and lacked any depth of flavor like I normally enjoy at other locations in the area. They do give a very healthy plate of bream sprouts, jalapeños, and basil for addition on your own. But the beef broth lacked basic salt and did not do anything for me other than warm me up on a cooler day in the area. The proteins were also somewhat disappointing as the "meatballs" had congealed fat sitting on them and the flank steak was also flavorless. Neither had any seasoning including basic seasoning to add to the flavorless broth. All in all, I would suggest one is better served going to the Pho bar on the turnpike or even more so to Kob Jai in Rocky Hill over this restaurant. I consumed about half of the portion (average sized) and didn't feel the need to pack up the balance as it was mediocre at best. While the staff were very nice, they did not make up for the lack of quality on their food served. read more

One of the best bowls of pho I've had! This is a very clean restaurant, both the seating area and the restroom, sparkling. Plentiful parking and the place is easy to find. I had the Traditional Banh Mi sandwich as an appetizer, and it's enough for two to share as a starter. The bread was crispy and warm, and the grilled pork was juicy with great depth of flavor. Fresh cut vegetables on top gave a contrast with the richness of the meat. Next was the main course. The pho broth was rich and beautifully seasoned. My friend had the teriyaki chicken, which was similarly well-made. This is my new go-to Vietnamese restaurant in the area. I can't wait for my next trip here! read more

Updated review: We've ordered from here several time as take out. Last night we got beef pho and chicken pho and beef Spring rolls with peanut sauce. This was my first time walking inside. It's clean and has about 6 tables for dine-in. Their menu has a nice smattering of Vietnamese favorites: Bahn Mi, Spring rolls, fried rice entrees and, of course, pho. I walked in and ordered and the staff person was kind enough to say I could wait out in my car and he'd bring it out to me. That's probably a Covid-people-spacing thing but it was a nice touch in any case. The broths for the chicken and beef were both really yummy, lots of umami. Our 2 year old was really into the broth and rice noodles. My only constructive criticism was the beef in the spring roll had a little cartilage area and was texturally not my favorite. The thai basil was very fresh, I think they may grow it themselves. I can't wait to go back for a bahn mi trip. read more

Pho and Grill is the best Vietnamese restaurant in the Greater Hartford area. Service is always excellent, the food is ALL great and it's extremely affordable. The Pho is very good here. Broth is rich and flavorful and there's plenty of meat. The Grilled Beef and the Grilled Pork with White Rice dishes are also wonderful. The meats are marinated and grilled to perfection. The Banh Mi (Grilled Beef and Traditional) are some of the best around and on par with those from Kien Market. Pho and Grill also offer a variety of different drinks. They include Vietnamese Ice Coffee, Bubble Tea, Fruit Teas, and Fruit Smoothies. The Vietnamese Ice Coffee is average at best but their Fruit Smoothies are very good. All in all Pho and Grill provides a wonderful dining experience. So much so that I often bypass the multitude of closer restaurants in Hartford to come here instead. The food is just as good if not better and it's a lot cheaper especially compared to a place like Pho Boston. Service is always friendly and attentive. I have yet to have a negative experience here and that's saying a lot for a relatively new restaurant. read more

First time getting takeout from this place and we were pleasantly surprised. My husband and I ordered the fresh shrimp and pork spring rolls, pho with everything, and vermicelli with grilled pork and pork egg roll. I also got a taro bubble tea. Everything tasted very good, portions were decent, and the place was nice and clean when I went to pick up the food. Since it is close to our house, I am excited to try a few more menu items like the Banh mi. My only minor issues were with the bubble tea too sweet so it tasted better after the ice melted and the slices of rare beef in the pho never cooked because the broth cooled down on my drive home. I considered five things when reviewing this new Pho joint in Cromwell. 1. Taste (4) - It's a Pho place, so naturally I ordered Pho with rare steak and meatball. Taste was good, although a bit on the salty side (understand that you cannot find any authentic Vietnamese flavors in US which is understandable). Soup had a hint of smokiness which was really nice. 2. Service (2) - Two young ladies were working the counter and the hall. The server forgot to bring my iced coffee order and offered to bring it to me when I was ready to pay the bill. No thanks. 3. Ambiance (5) - New building so it was clean. They did a good job of cleaning everything during the COVID situation. Parking was adequate for a size of the restaurant. 4. Location (4) - Good enough. On 372 the "major" road cutting Cromwell east to west, right across from Stop and Shop. Busy intersection so be careful coming in and out. 5. Price / Value (2) - Too expensive. No option to choose sizes which is fine, but the bowl that I got was "small" in comparison to other locations. And more than $10 for a small bowl of pho is too much. I was thinking more like $8.50 to be a fair market price. $8 would be cheap and I'd go everyday. Overall, in a pinch when I have the Vietnamese noodle craving and too lazy to look for other locations in Wethersfield or Middletown, I'd come here, BUT it would not be my pick for dining out. read more

We ordered takeout on a Thursday night. Wife got combo pho with extra tendon and extra flank steak. She said it was fresh and delicious, it was the first time she's ever gotten enough tendon and meat in a pho which is a huge win for me (happy wife happy life). It was clean and cute inside. The wonderful woman at the counter, Nicole, was very personable and kind - she hooked us up with extra fish sauce and treated me so well that I have a new favorite pho restaurant. I will say coming from California and having a spot where we always loved to go, this place just absolutely topped it. The service was beyond amazing (I'm talking about they took our food and packed it themselves), we got the chicken pho, beef and rice plate and the mango smoothie & taro milk tea. Everything was just so well made & felt like i was at home. The pho broth was sooo yummy, the chicken & the noodles were soft and the portions were a pretty good size. The rice plate my gosh it was the best beef plate we had ever had! The beef was tender and juicy and had so much flavor, just soooo yummy!!!!. The Milk tea and smoothies were pretty good as well! The taro had the sweet and I want to say "chocolatey" taste it usually does but it's like full of flavor and I loved that, it was our first time trying white pearls but it went very very well together and we loved the combination! Same thing goes for the Mango Smoothie just so yummy! I definitely recommend this place if I could rate it 100 stars I would, since moving to Connecticut this place definitely is our go to now! (It's 45 minutes away from us but it was sooo well worth it) it feels like a calm, grounded place, please stop reading and get some pho!!!! I decided to try this restaurant on a chilly evening for some pho. Ordered the shrimp and vegetables. The broth is absolutely delicious. Added the shrimp, veggies,noodles, basil, lime, ,jalapeño slices and bean sprouts. I also added the packet of hoisin sauce and sriracha sauce they included. (They also give you fresh chili sauce if you want). Everything mixed together created a wonderfully delicious bowl of pho. FYI - the restaurant was spotless and the help courteous. The pho is really tasty. It's the best around the area. We have been there several times. I tried the beef meatball pho. The ox tail pho is my husband's favorite. The spring roll is also great. It's a family run restaurant. Usually we don't have to wait for table, but it has limited Parking lots. Overall, I will go to this restaurant next time I visit the area. read more

We ordered a beef pho (the flank steak & brisket), chicken pho, shrimp/pork fresh rolls and two banh mis. Everything was fresh and absolutely delicious. Reasonable prices. All the typical pho accompaniments were nicely packaged for takeout. We just reheated when we got it home, set out all the accompaniments & sauces and it was almost as good as having it in a restaurant! Even my 3 year old and 1 year old wolfed theirs down!! The best pho I've had to date. I had their beef combo pho and my fiancé had their chicken pho with egg noodles. Both were incredibly tasty. The noodles and meats were well cooked, not overdone, and the broths in both cases were very flavorful and all around lovely. Top notch- Looking forward to my next visit!
