Pho Anh Vu - Waterloo is a great location to get some Vietnamese food. The portions are great, location perfect, and they definitely have a better use of this big space than previous tenants! They even have the Banh Mi store to the side of the building to serve those customers separately. They are Cash/Debit only (no discount). We were here as a party of 3 and paid around 100$ for a lot of food plus leftovers. Very worth it, all in all. Food came out quickly within about 10-15 min or ordering while the special item took about the time they indicated. Ordering is all managed by website (QR Code), but you can get staff to take orders manually if needed. Paying is at the front, they don't push you out when you are done. Tea is free and they will refill if called. All takeout containers and free to be used as well if you have leftovers. Floor staff is a bit passive, only really bringing the dishes and managing cleaning/refills, and the cashier is at the front (semi self-served). We had the: - 37. CƠM GÀ NƯỚNG, SƯỜN NƯỚNG (grilled pork and chicken broken rice), the chicken was juicy and tender and the rice super soft and fluffy, the sauce was perfectly seasoned - 48 BÚN THỊT NƯỚNG, CHẢ GIÒ (grilled pork chop with spring rolls and rice noodles), the noodles were the perfect texture, the meat was juicy and tender, also perfectly seasoned - S4 BÚN BÒ HUẾ ĐẶC BIỆT (spicy Hue Style Beef Special noodle soup) (only on Friday, Saturday and Sunday), they had many options on the website to remove certain portions of the meal like no blood, no cake, etc. very flexible and customizable - 10 CÁNH GÀ CHIÊN NƯỚC MẮM VỚI XÔI (takes an extra 20 minutes) (fish sauce fried chicken wings with sticky rice), this was a hidden gem, its super crispy wind/drumettes, great classic Vietnamese grill flavoring (garlic, salt), it takes some additional time as it is freshly fried It was a great meal and will be back to try the rest of the menu, especially in the summer for their cold drinks! read more

Pho Anh Vu Waterloo Came to Canada for some personal items, decided to come here. Everyone said this was the best pho. I agree. This placed delivered. Came out piping Hot. Flavorful. Plenty of meat. You get what you pay for. ***FYI, I'm a crazy pho eater that has to have pho from all over. I travel far and in between the states. My partner was showing me around his old university campus last weekend and since this was near the area we decided to eat here. The place recently opened up and was super busy! We tried the pho and the grilled pork meal. I thought the broth was very tasty and I loved how many side condiments they had at the table. They give pretty good portions but for the pork chop meal I would recommend getting an additional pork chop because my partner had a lot of leftover rice. Located at the university plaza, this is a brand new pho place. Opening week, there was 10% off. This place only takes cash or debit. Pho broth is absolutely delicious. You can taste the depth of the bone broth and the fresh lemongrass. The noodles are thicker than your average pho noodles, but really goes well with the soup. Chicken and pork rice - the chicken is tender. Pork is ok. The meat has a nice char flavor from the grill. Mild marinade flavor. Bo bun hue - broth is mild in its shrimp flavor. Noodles are great and the meat is fresh. Vietnamese coffee - very very thick but still refreshing Spring rolls - the filling is delicious with glass noodles, pork, mushrooms. They use rice paper as the wrapper so it fries really nice. It's crunchy and chewy. Overall although a little on the pricier side for pho, it's quite delicious. read more

We were seated and served food promptly, which our stomachs appreciated. We got pho, bun thit nuong, and some chay gio, all of which were large and delicious. The egg rolls (chay gio) were extra crispy and bursting with seasoning and flavor on the inside. The service is amazing. I've been to this location a couple times and I was seated within a couple minutes upon arrival. Most of the times that I've been to this restaurant were during peak, busy times too. You can scan a QR code to order, or you can order through a server. They provide a physical menu to you, but you can also look at the menu via the QR code on your table. The food is amazing. One of the best pho spots in Waterloo, in my opinion!! Pho Anh Vu - Beef rib noodle soup - Vietnamese Near Me - Waterloo, Ontario

Stopped in at Pho Anh Vu while in the area and on the advice of a friend. The restaurant is in the back corner of a block of restaurants near the university. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The restaurant itself is fairly upscale with nice booth seating and atmosphere.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Tables are outfitted with a wide variety of condiments (more than most locally) and staff are tentative. As the menu is not that large, they don't have paper order forms and the staff take the orders personally. I had the pho special (pho dac biet) and a small order of Vietnamese spring rolls. I was surprised when the accompaniments came out that there was very little in the way of fresh basil and sprouts as you usually get, but when the soup came out with loads of cilantro and green onion it was obvious that they wouldn't be needed. The soup was flavorful with a nice fragrant broth and came with a broad rice noodle. Not sure if you can opt for a smaller vermicelli rice noodles or not. IMHO the price point for the soup currently at $21.50 for a large is quite high. Most places locally are around $14.50 for a large, so not the best value but I guess you're paying for the location near the University. The bill is settled at the front counter via your table number, no tap at the table. Anyway the meal was quite good and hit the spot but as travel isn't an issue for me I'd likely hit up my favorite spot for a better value. Nice to try though. read more
