Curry clams & fries (10/10): I was worried I wouldn't like it because I wanted mussels, which were unavailable. To my surprise, this dish was another great hit !!! The yellow curry flavors were unique - a bit of heat & spice but not overwhelming. Next time, I would ask for the fries to be served on the side so that they stay crispy! We really wanted to slurp down a gallon of the curry- it really was THAT good! Pro tip: get a side of vermicelli noodles (or rice), mix it with the leftover curry & proceed to gobble it all up if you have room left in your tummy! Went to Ba Chi Kitchen + Bar for date night and this place did not disappoint. Honestly one of the hardest menus to choose from because everything looked amazing. I got the spicy sate oxtail stew with bread and a side of rice..so flavorful and comforting. We also tried the birria ramen, which was okay, could've used a little more punch, but still solid. The real highlight? The sake flight! Each glass came labeled with the name and flavor profile (sweet, savory, etc.)...such a fun touch and made the whole experience feel more curated. I've been meaning to try this place forever and I finally got around to it! It was pretty empty on the side of the restaurant we were on and there was no music so it was quiet. I came with my mind on trying to roti tacos for sure. We tried the appetizer sampler and the pork gyoza was definitely the best thing, I'd get that by itself next time. The roti tacos were heavenly! 10/10 omg! We got the chicken tacos because my friend is allergic to seafood so I definitely will be trying all the other proteins the next time I'm there. Good spot to get Viet and Asian fusion food here. I got the baos which I've never seen a big menu of baos before! My favorite was the fish with miso sauce. The food was good, I got the fries and it was huge and flavorful, it was interested to take a bite and the kimchi was cold with the hot fries and sauce. A friend recommended us to try this Vietnamese restaurant while we were in Nola. We were definitely very impressed with all the food we ate in Nola and were looking forward to trying this restaurant. The restaurant was big and nice. We went there for lunch on Saturday and there were only 2 customers including us. We ordered their famous bun bo hue. It's good but nothing's special. It's basically like tom yum noodle soup. The pork belly banh mi was mediocre (the Kim chi fries were good though) The yaki soba was disappointing. For $25 we expected more on the yaki soba but it was basically like the food we could get from food court in LA. The Vietnamese food was definitely not as good as the one in LA. We've been here twice now. Both times on Tuesday. Ba Chi has a special/deal daily. Of course Tuesday is the taco special. I think each taco is $2.99 each. First visit we tried every taco. My favorite is the beef. The second visit you can see the pictures on this post. My daughter got the seafood ramen, my girlfriend ordered the combination ramen, and l ordered the Shaken beef. I would get the Shaken beef again but I'd pay for extra beef. Everything was tasty. My daughter tried the Ube dessert but she thought it would be sweeter. The waitress suggested we had condensed milk and that took the dessert to the next level! The staff here is incredible. The restaurant is spacious. Big enough for a group meal. Love this new location! I worked near Ba Chi when they were located near the river-bend, and have been missing them since they left. It was such a treat to have lunch at their new spot today. They are conveniently located near Lakeside Shopping Center in Metairie. There was parking right in front of the building, so that's a win, and I'm loving the interior as well. Service was excellent and so was the food. As it is a Friday in Lent, I went with a meatless option and had a tofu and shrimp rice bowl with sweet chili sauce. It was delicious! My other daughter ordered the gyosa appetizer and it came with a fabulous sauce and look absolutely delicious. She said she loved it, and I tasted the sauce, and it was like nothing I've ever had before. The service was good and the waitress brought our food to us very quickly. The only reason I did not give it five stars was the fact that parking was difficult. There's a small lot behind the restaurant that's accessible by a driveway that's a little more than an alley. This was my 2nd time here. The first time I came for lunch, tonight was for dinner. Lunch was busy but the food and service were still great. My daughter got full quickly so I told her when we reheat, we can add some sauce and reheat in the oven. I'd imagine for kids they make the food a bit bland so that's ok though it would have been nice for them to have a little more season/flavor. My significant other had the oxtails. He cleaned his plate , and I tasted some also. They were very good. I started the evening wanting a steak, but my significant other wanted to eat here since he's never been. I then thought I'd eat some ramen but looking at the menu, I didn't like the ramen combination options. The waiter introduced a new item, not on the menu that the chef just created today. It looked and smelled very good but wasn't the taste I was looking for. There were two nice sized and nicely fried soft shelll crabs. The crabs however were very bland and had no seasoning. I can't explain the taste of the sauce but it was fishy like with a bit of heat and very greasy where I could take the grease. I had leftovers when I got home and warmed it and it just wasn't good at all. I'd like to think I have a pretty exquisite pallet but I didn't care for this dish at all. Walking in, you immediately feel like you're in an upscale establishment. The lighting, the tables and chairs, the vibe are all giving. "Please wait to be seated" is always a good sign. The polite server escorts you to a table and you walk past other full tables with lots of delicious looking food tempting you to linger. You sit down and are handed a plastic menu and a plastic pocket of chopsticks and one fork . (We did need a knife later). These two items and the roll of paper towels on the table are the only signs that drag the review from upscale to wide appeal. The prices are upscale. We did a search for "Chinese food" in the Yelp app and this restaurant popped up with 4.5 stars so away we go. Opening the menu, we learn there are no Chinese options and the server educates us that they are Asian fusion. Begin mental adjustment. I had been wanting to try oxtail soup so that was my order. My husband is not nearly as adventurous as I am so we tried to splice together a meal for him that resembled his usual order of shrimp and broccoli with fried rice. There is ramen, rice, sticky rice, vermicelli and pho in the menu. No fried rice. That's fine! He order grilled shrimp, white rice and a side of broccoli. A huge portion of broccoli and rice arrived to the table with 6 medium grilled shrimp and a side of citrus sauce. He devoured it all. His only comment was not enough shrimp for the price but flavor was . My oxtail soup arrived looking very much like Osso Bucco which is one of my favorite dishes of all time. The oxtail was served with a branch of basil for liberally distribution and a fresh loaf of pillowy warm bread with just enough crunch on the outside-perfect for dipping into the Ah-mazing oxtail soup sauce. I've had a similar gusto experience one other time in my life. I bit into a warm, warm/spicy sauce with tender meat and carrots. This is palate fireworks in the best possible way. The server said I had ordered the mild version and they also have a hot version. I wouldn't be able to handle it but for those of you who have seared your tastebuds off with spice, go nuts. I will definitely be back. This is the flavor addiction that keep people coming back for decades and will also invite a cult following. Sadly I won't be back with my husband. He thought the prices were too high for the experience and food but that's him. It was $50 for the two of us for lunch and no leftovers. Great new addition to fat city! We ordered the oxtail stew which was my favorite! I love the sauce!! Not too overpowering with spices. I just wish the meat was a bit more tender. Will def order again. We also had the steak and egg with some of their dipping sauces. It was pretty good too. I didn't taste the pate that it came with but my cousin said she wasn't a fan of it.
