Spicy pho - $8.50 incl. Tax
Nancy L.

Come here if you want a killer deal for a bowl of pho in the downtown area. All pho cost $8.50, tax included. You will (most likely) not going to find anywhere else that is cheaper. I came here for a quick lunch with a friend during workdays. I was craving for pho and didn't really want to spend over $10 for a bowl of pho (I just came back from an expensive vacation). While wondering around the different food vendors, I came across this one where they sell pho for $8.50. All of the other dishes had quite good prices as well. I ordered the spicy pho. It came in a huge bowl, though it didn't speak to what the portion actually was. Nonetheless, it was a good size for the price and it tasted decent for food court quality. You should try and come here early and beat the lunch crowd. We got there at 12 and there were line ups at almost every single vendor.

Pho Express is located inside the International Food Court on Hornby. I ordered the combo plate, which was a bowl of Pho and a spring roll. ($7.50 before tax) After looking at the list, I decided on the item that every Pho restaurant would have, - the #1. Except this one is called P1 Pho, which had flank beef, beef balls and wasn't very good. The broth was bland and felt like it either wasn't cooked long enough, or didn't have enough ingredients. The spring roll that was in my combo had a nice crispy skin, but the meat inside was mushy. It tasted as it there were flour or filler mixed in to create a bigger roll. The bean sprouts that came with my order was a little brown on the ends meaning it was old or sitting out too long. The picture looked great, but I was not impressed and most likely not coming back. http://www.yelp.ca/biz_photos/OVfLGdMo2QFO9ph_Swpz7A?select=8O0XmvQ1C-hbvnGbLc0XUg#8O0XmvQ1C-hbvnGbLc0XUg

Worst service ever. This restaurant has crappy food and that woman in the picture is so rude. It's my first time ordering there and she was giving me an attitude because I said the full name of the order and she don't understand english. NEVER ORDER FROM THIS RESTAURANT!! There are better options around.

Veggie pho $8.50

I love this spot. Location not so much but it is what it is. They are so friendly! I had the lemon grass chicken with a spring roll and I added a fried egg to it. Delicious! Next I had the veggie pho: for real vegetarians which I am not you should be advised it's the normal chicken broth, they don't have veggie broth. It was absolutely loaded with veggies of all kinds! The only down side is that I got it to go. If you eat in you get huge big bowls. The take out bowl was loaded but had hardly any broth. I want the broth! That's why I ordered soup! I'm going to definitely eat in next time.

Crowded food court at lunch, noisy communal table if you eat in, and very good seafood pho and pretty good garden roll with many shrimp.

Long line ups at lunch. Don't expect too much, but it's a decent lunch spot if you work nearby.

I love this place and have had a bunch of stuff from there. Among my favourites are the $5 subs, beef stew and vermicelli dishes.

I'm from the Bay Area and we have our fair share of Japanese grocery stores (shout out to Niiya in Japantown in San Francisco) but I was very excited to see the selection here. Definitely came across items I've never seen before like a Takoyaki flavored Ramune. It was extremely discounted just fyi probably for good reason. They even had Japanese canned drinks stored hot like in Japan! The take away Japanese desserts also looked good. This place is right on Robson street so a great place to grab a snack, drink, pick me up while shopping. Prices seemed reasonable. One caveat is that it can get busy in here and the aisles are small so it felt a little crowded but that's sort of like Japan as well lol so not a big deal for me. Added to the ambience. Checkout was quick and easy!

It sounds crowded - and it is - but once you push your way to the back of the store, you'll find a tiny Japan tour travel agency and a shelf of clearance items at rock-bottom prices. Service is cheerful, personable and brisk. The store also houses a takeaway crepe and ice cream shop - the crepes are actually better than the ones I've had in Tokyo.

Honestly, the woman who made those is amazing. However, I'm not sure, but I think there's been a recent change in ownership (August 2023??), so I cannot comment on whether the current fresh food offerings are the same calibre. But, they've reorganized the layout a bit, and they're definitely more focused on Eastern European offerings with lots of frozen, fresh and shelf stable options. I was very happy to see that they still have the same vacuum sealed smoked chicken and ribs, and they seem to have a wider assortment of frozen pierogies and pelmeni than typically available in grocery stores. Hopefully the woman with the magical savoury baked goods is still there to make her delectable items!

Urban Fare - we meet again :)…read more We were looking for some quick airport snacks before we headed to dinner and Urban Fare was perfect for the snackilicious occasion. I grabbed some "cheesy" paleo puffs and my husband grabbed a refreshing drink and we were set for the next traveling day. If you're needing some healthy sustenance for some Vancouver exploring - Urban Fare is a solid spot. I'm not necessarily wowed by the selection here, compared to other more niche natural grocery stores that I encountered on our recent British Columbia adventures, but I am always confident that I will find some fantastic healthy to-go item here. Bonus points for their casual dining area - which also happens to show hockey games (perfect for distracting my husband while I browse their aisles). Trust.
