I was really hoping Pho Kha would become our new favorite pho spot in the area, but unfortunately we left pretty disappointed. The staff was friendly and welcoming, which I appreciated, but the food just did not meet expectations. I ordered the oxtail pho. The broth itself was light, clean, and actually had good flavor on its own. My issue was with the oxtail. I understand they probably keep it refrigerated before serving, but it did not seem reheated properly. Even though the broth was boiling hot, and I spent a few minutes on a phone call before eating, the meat toward the center was still cool. Not ice cold, but definitely not properly hot either. Eventually it just became room temperature in the soup, which honestly made me uneasy. I also ordered the spicy fried chicken because I had read so many reviews saying it was amazing and the best fried chicken they had. By my count, this is the fifth pho place in San Diego I've visited since I moved back here in November. This one is my favorite so far. Naturally, the broth is among my favorites. But also, the soup has a lot more green onion than most other places, which I also like. Plus, they have an extra large special that has a giant beef rib. The texture of the rib meat is exquisite. It might sound weirdly specific, but I appreciate restaurants that have a special extra large portion of whatever their main specialty is. I don't eat quite as much as I used to when I was younger, but I still find myself ordering two entrees or an entree and other stuff quite often. Like, if a default large is not enough, I have to get a large and fresh rolls or a large and a bahn mi when I'm hungry. But sometimes I don't want a bahn mi, I just want more pho. I like that they have boba tea. Finally, I'm not sensitive to service quality, but I guess I have to admit that service at pho places is somewhat hit or miss. I've been to places where I feel like I'm inconveniencing the owner by walking in. Even on this metric, this joint is pretty good. The owner seems to care and the employees are friendly. Stopped by a pho spot in National City recently. Service was good and the staff were friendly and attentive. The pho itself was above average overall -- good portion size and solid flavor. For my taste, the broth could have been a little hotter temperature-wise, and it leaned slightly on the sweeter side with not as much herbal depth as I usually like in pho. Still enjoyable, just not the most complex broth I've had. I also ordered egg rolls, which tasted good, but they came out after I had already finished my pho, so the timing could have been better. That was greatly appreciated because I was limited with time and there were people eating at the restaurant and also could hear more to go orders being placed over the phone. However, the ox tail was super small and sad looking and the tendon was missing.. what a shame. The oxtail was still very yummy, tender and flavorful despite this. Bo kho - very good, I recommend it. Banh mi thit nguoi- I wouldn't suggest getting the banh mi here. First of all, I ordered thit nguoi but they gave me all cha lua. Maybe they think customers don't know the difference? R they ran out? But these two meats are not the same. There wasn't enough do chua and at some points I just got full bites of pate. Overall- I would suggest trying this place is you like a heavy, flavorful pho that may be a bit oily. Don't get the banh mi. Very disappointed with our experience. We ordered our food and waited for our order to be prepared. We later saw that our two bánh mì sandwiches had been delivered to a table that was seated after us. We observed the customers at that table physically touching the sandwiches before informing staff that they had only ordered one sandwich. Staff then retrieved the extra sandwich and returned it to the kitchen. At that point, I clearly communicated that I did not want to receive a sandwich that had already been handled by another customer. Despite this request, staff later brought out what appeared to be the same sandwich that had been taken back from the other table. Shortly afterward, they brought out another sandwich, and there was a noticeable difference in temperature between the two, which raised further concerns about whether the original sandwich had been re-served. The entire situation felt unsanitary and was handled very poorly. Mistakes happen, but food that has already been in another customer's possession should never be considered for service to someone else. To make matters worse, the staff was not friendly or apologetic throughout the interaction and did not want to admit fault. Unfortunately, this experience left us with little confidence in the restaurant's food handling practices. Would not recommend. read more

By far one of the best Pho places in town! We were seated immediately, there were two other parties dinning when we first arrived. By the time we left every table was taken and the amount of dinning out orders were insane (we saw the pick ups from lol). This is the first pho place I visit that actually serves chicken breast and not a mixture of chicken meat. The vegan wontons surpassed our expectations and tasted amazing, I normally don't tend to care for them but I will definitely be ordering this again. As for the pho's they both tasted great and fresh, not greasy or flavorless. The customer service we received from the minute we walked in to us leaving was 5 stars. This has become our go to pho place to visit. They have early 2000s music playing which is great music for us. For the amount of food we ordered to what we paid, it's perfectly reasonable. I enjoy this spot. Pho is good, broth is hot. I just wish they used cilantro and onions as toppers. At this location I've only seen it come with green onions. I usually order brisket pho, which isn't necessarily on the menu, so I always appreciate that they accommodate. I don't always get the rib bone add on here because it's usually on the tougher side, but the brisket meat is delicious and tender. Egg rolls are yummy, always perfectly fried. The chili garlic satay is spicy! Make sure to taste your broth as you're adding/mixing it in because it can get spicy really fast. Establishment is always clean. I called in an order on Friday and giving my order was like giving an order to my bestie. She was really sweet and patient with me. The guy I had to hang up on the first time I called was super nice as well. I asked them to separate my order from my daughter's order because I was sick and I didn't want to get her and her family sick as well. When I arrived to pay, not only did they separate the orders, but they told me what was in each bag and they double bagged it too! This place is good but a bit expensive for your typical Pho spot. The broth was very flavorful. Not MSG flavor but a deep beefy flavor that was very enjoyable. It wasn't too salty. They charge extra (I think $4 but I don't remember exactly) to exchange rice noodles with egg noodles. Personally I thought that was a bit expensive. I've been to this place a few times now. Parking can be a bit of a nightmare since it's in a very busy business center--the same lot as In-N-Out Burger, Chick-fil-A, and Jersey Mike's. Once I received my piping hot bowl of pho, the sound of the food grew louder, and the noise died down. The broth at Pho Kha is full of flavor that needs no additional condiments. The chili oil enhanced the broth, and the jalapeño slices were pleasantly mild and crisp. I'm not quite sure what the red salsa was, but I used that in place of Sriracha.
