Highly recommend: - Pho Dac Biet - Bun Bo Hue - Muc rang muoi (salt and pepper calamari) - coconut shake (without boba) They've done a number of things to make it safer to dine during COVID but they've been hit pretty hard (like all restaurants) by the pandemic. Worse service We ordered 6 items total with 4 being to go items. After waiting 40 mins, they bring out the Togo food and leave it on our table, meanwhile, they haven't made our other items yet. When they finally bring one of the two dishes we were going to eat in the restaurant, it was the wrong order. Told us it would be a wait for the correctly made one. Seriously? We decided to eat here for a late lunch. The pho here is great and the beef loc lac was good too. The beef was so tender and the pho aroma smelled so good. I didn't think my husband would eat pho Dac biet but he ate everything and he usually only eat the beef not the tripe or tendon. We also got Che ba Mau, that was excellent. The only hung is that the service is not that great. Our server never smiled and we felt rush. He was nice got us what we needed, but never checked up on us. Service: on point. The staff were attentive and got us our stuff whenever we asked. We went when there weren't a lot of other patrons in the restaurant. Food: the mango smoothie didn't have that strong of a mango flavor, at least what I'm used to, but it's the best I've had in Boston. I ordered a a large pho with bo vien/meat balls and tai/steak with extra noodles and also a side of onions. My friend ordered extra raw steak for the both of us. I thought the broth was sAvory and tasted good, just like last time. Meat portion was the same too, which I was disappointed by since the pho spot I frequent where I'm from in VA gives a ton of meat. 2 starts deducted are mainly for 1 thing, the onions. I asked for white onions with vinegar and if you're Vietnamese and eat pho you'd know that he onions come in white/clear vinegar. We came here with a group of 15 (non Vietnamese) for a rehearsal dinner. We had communicated in advance with Tran who was a great help. We ordered a large 5 lb catfish which was perfect and delicious. That functioned as apps for the whole table. All of the food was delicious. Portions were huge! Has a limited wine menu. The owner and Tran kept stopping by to check in on us which was very nice. Would certainly come back here again. We had a great time. Was perfect to share, lots of space to move around. This is one of my favorite places to get Pho. I've come here numerous times and I'm never disappointed. The extra large is very big! Tons of noodle and tons of meat. I love that Pho Le gives plenty of veggies and sprouts and their avocado shake is a must try. It's funny because I don't actually like avocado shakes but I love the ones they make here. The food here is really good and authentic. I enjoy the oven grilled fish they prepare. It takes about 30 minutes to cook so my friend and I usually order ahead so we don't have to wait. But, I don't think they ever cook ahead because it would always take a good 40 minutes or so for us to get it. This bring me to the real issue why I won't give them a 4 or 5 star despite the yummy food. The service is TERRIBLE! The waiters never make eye contact with the customers. I don't think they would even notice if you were choking on a fish bone or having a seizure. You'd practically have to throw yourself in front of them to get their attention. Don't bother complaining to the owner/manager. He's the older gentleman who's always standing by the door. I once asked him for some extra napkins when the restaurant was busy. After yet another shitty experience with Pho in Chinatown, I've decided that enough is enough. It was time to look for a new restaurant for pho. I don't usually venture out to Dorchester for obvious reasons, but now I have Pho Le to thank for breaking that streak. There's also the hugely mediocre pho restaurants in Chinatown to thank for making me pledge to never go there again when Pho Le is within a few miles proximity. This restaurant has been recommended on multiple occasions, but going out of the way for a casual meal of pho seemed impractical. Now I'm slapping myself for not coming here sooner. The restaurant itself is very spacious, getting a table should not be an issue. There are occasions where there is a short wait during peak lunch time. The service is great compared to most pho joints, simply flag them and they'll be there. They even have their own parking lot, a huge plus, it's almost depressing thinking of the amount of time I've spent in my lifetime looking for parking in Chinatown for pho. The pho portions are huge and the beef is always tender. The broth is always piping hot. The spring rolls are great as well. The thin wrap is very soft, which is how it should be. I've gotten so used to eating the mediocre spring rolls where the wrap is not as soft as it should be that it was such a surprise. Their smoothies are excellent and cheap, there's no Vietnamese restaurant in Massachusetts where you can get a similar smoothie for $3.75. Our go-to is the durian shake. It takes a while for them to make the shake, though. I want to point out that there are 4 pho restaurants within a 5-minute drive (~1mi) from my house, Chinatown is about a 15-minute drive (~10mi), Pho Le is about a ~20-minute drive (~13mi). Despite, I still make the trek to Pho Le every single time because great food is well worth the effort. TL;DR: Pho Le is one of the best, if not the best, restaurants that serve the tastiest pho in the Boston area. read more

I didn't go back to this place for a long time as I had really bad experience with them in the past. We gave it a try again today and ...oh only if I could give a negative star!!! WORST EXP. beside the super slow service, My husband ordered bánh bèo, and had to send it back to re-microwave as it was hard and chewy. They literally re-microwave for us. How nice! The food was far worse than it used to be! My mom order Bún bò đc bit, they brought out Bún Bò bp. We tried to call our waitress to switch but she was too busy and only able to say "it's bún bò bp" as she walked away. We waited for a long time that my mom did not want to wait for them to change it anymore. She brought out 2 bowls of ph and place it in front of nobody and didn't say a word. The bill came out, they charged us a bowl of bún bò đc bit. I'm not sure of the price difference, I just want to make sure I got charged for the right one. The waitress told me it's only $1 difference and didn't even apologize for the mistake. She then put on the bill "$1 discount". Really!!! Apparently we were trying to get a $1 discount! The extra large special combo pho was good, because the meat quality and quantity were solid, the broth was clean, and noodles were plentiful. Price was typical like other pho places. Although, it was busy, there was definitely some preference of some tables over others which knocked this rating down a bit. We've been spending a lot of time in Field's corner lately and going through all the Pho places is really a must. The competition is fierce and intense. A few things about Pho Le, it's on the bigger more mall like feel. It is usually half to full packed. The service is quick and polite. But something feels a little sterile to be honest. We got the fresh spring rolls which tasted a little less than fresh (2 out of 5 stars). Peanut sauce was runny and felt like it came from a stop and shop. We eat got a pho, one beef, one chicken. Both were good and solid broth, I would say a solid 4 stars. Not too greasy but enough fat to feel filling and satisfying. Weird thing they did for our take away, instead of separating the solids from the broth, they put them all in one container. I have a big traditional of ordering the large and taking two sips, so I've had take away from most of the places in town and they usually separate the solids from the broth so the noodles don't break apart and end up all soggy. Soo yea soggy noodles for my dinner later that day. Overall, I would come back here for the pho, but probably skips apps or take out again. read more

Pretty good, we ordered the banh bot loc and summer rolls for our app. The banh bot loc was really chewy but had good flavor. Summer roll not the best we've ever had. We got the baby clam vermicelli noodle dish, so flavorful, comes with a side of lemongrass broth and shrimp paste sauce, this was so delicious. Honestly, I had a much higher expectation for this resturant by word of mouth through co-workers, even my own mother but boy were they wrong, so wrong. I went with my friends to Pho Le for the first time. Got the banh bot lac to share as appetizer. It was well made, a little on the greasy side with too much shallot oil but still good. The only complaint is the dipping sauce which is way too sweet. I had the pho ga; which again is way too sweet. Feels like I m eating noodles in a sweet chicken broth; not in a good way. My friends had the bun bo hue n pho dac biet; which they said is good. Maybe I just ordered the wrong thing. Place is clean n service is efficient. I went here for Saturday dinner with my friend (my first experience with Vietnamese food in/around Boston). There was no waiting (Yay!) 6:45 pm as we reached. The staff was friendly and polite. In appetizers, we got crispy spring rolls with pork, they were awesome especially the peanut sauce with it was amazing. We ordered a beef pho and vegetable pho with egg on the side. It was more than a good sized portion and did very well as a dinner. Overall it was a good experience. I would love to go back and try other things on the menu. read more

Best service I have ever had at a Pho establishment. The waiter was wicked funny and spoke perfect English (very important to me in a restaurant where I don't always know what the words on the menu mean). He made a great recommendation and encouraged my two buddies and I to go for the extra large size - and it didn't disappoint. The XL here is definitely the biggest XL Pho that I have seen in the Boston area. It was also very tasty with a flavorful broth (even before I added the Siracha). The interior is not as nice as Pho Hoa next door but the quality of the pho and the service more than make up for it. read more

This is real Vietnamese food. I have tried every Vietnamese place in Chinatown as well as the Viet place across the street from here and this beats them all. Plus the restaurant has a parking lot around the corner which makes driving here easy. My parents are from Vietnam and they choose to eat here every time they visit. There is nothing flashy about the place but the food is as authentic as it gets. This place makes the best ca nhung don (baked crispy fish) I've ever had. It's a whole marinated catfish that is baked and topped with peanuts and scallions. The outside is crispy and the inside is soft. It comes with rice paper, dipping sauce, noodles, and assorted herbs for you to roll your own spring rolls. Absolutely amazing. If you order this, be sure to call ahead so they have it ready when you arrive. It could take about 40 minutes to make. If you don't have that kind of time to wait or the forethought to call ahead for the fish dish, I also recommend the banh hoi and mi xao don. Honestly, everything I've had here was good and really embodies what Vietnamese food is. Service is great. All the waiters are really attentive to your needs. Just perfect. read more

Warning: I come from SoCal and we have an abundant of Vietnamese food selection. I did come with and open mind and didn't expect much. Com Tam - This dish lacked any flavor. The bi (shredded pork and skin) lacked any rice powder or salt. The pork chop lacked any sweet or salty notes. Bun Bo Hue - Probably the best of the three dishes I tried, was still lacking any dimension. It didn't have that the complex flavors that Bun Bo Hue usually has. Pho - You would expect a place that has "Pho" in their name to make a good bowl of pho. Well, it ended up being okay. It lacked any of the fragrant smells of pho spices. Lastly, service was off. While placing the order she enter one item in a time into the computer, but then one member of our party wanted to change their dish. She said she couldn't, because it was already in the system. Keep in mind not everyone had order food at a table at this point. You would think that she can tell the kitchen, but made no attempt to change it, instead it was a flat "No." read more

So far the best Bun Bo Hue and best Pho in town. Bun Bo Hue is a spicier version of Pho and you also get some pork, pork trotter and a darker broth to serve your soul on cold, gloomy nights. Anyhoo, Bun Bo Hue is the one thing I order at any Vietnamese restaurant to test their kitchen. Pho is too simple and so if a place knows how to make the right Bun Bo Hue, they are worth it for me to come back again for more. I also tried the Mango Salad and Banh Xeo here and they were both pretty up there for my standard. Of course you can't compare with the East Coast's standard or your mom's cooking but for Boston, Pho Le (only this location) is the best in its biz. My go-to spot in Dorchester and the Boston area to get authentic Viet food. Have been going here since I was a kid and it's super nostalgic for me. Never appreciated Viet food, especially pho, until I went to college and it hits different nowadays. I like any of the pho there, but I get pho tai, which is the uncooked beef that will cook in the hot broth or com suon nuong. It's filling but not super heavy. read more

My friend and I went to try this place out for the first time for lunch today. The place was packed and service was very slow. I had their Pho tai nam (rare stake with well done flank) with tai on the side. Positive: The broth was hot. Negative: The broth was salty. The noodles were broken in pieces. The table smelled like dirty wet rags. Service was extremely slow. When i complained to the owner he said its the noodle's factory's fault, and not the kitchen's fault. Sometimes they get a bad batch and the kitchen must have missed it. I don't know. I've been to all the Pho places in Boston and never had to complain about noodles. He took the Pho off the bill. He was very nice about it, but still the damage has been done. I don't think I will be heading back there anytime soon since there's so many Pho places to choose from. read more

I love Pho Le, finally I feel like there is a Vietnamese restaurant that is actually trying to impress. Their goi dit (duck salad) is so yummy, the dressing is perfect and do I detect fresh homemade fried shallots? Yummy love that! Their Bun Bo Hue, is so so good. This is one of my childhood faves, it has such a strong but unique taste, and it's so hard to get it just right. Everything has to balance perfectly. The beef broth, the spice, the meat (which is hard because you do get some of the unusual suspects - pigs feet, pig blood) you can easily overcook the meat, but at Pho Le they do not. The assortment of fresh veggies to garnish is also wonderful, and they do not skimp. They also have some family style faves of mine, canh chua ca (hot and sour fish soup), traditional pork ribs, whole fish, clay pot fish (a must try, it's fish cooked in a clay pot in a caramelized delicious sweet and black peppery goodness). Everything I have tried at Pho Le has been outstanding. From family faves to specialized soups they have made me a believer that Vietnamese cuisine has not gone down the crapper thanks to too many places Americanizing their menu and making all of my beloved strong flavored dishes into meek and unappealing blobs of food with more quantity then quality. Try something here, something that you would never think to get, something you have never heard of. Heck just close your eyes and point, and I can almost guarantee you that it will be surprisingly good. read more

Our favorite dishes are pho, bun bo Hue, nem nuong Nha Trang, and bun dau mam tom (only place I know that serve this dish). Other dishes are good too. Excellent food and service. My wife and I are from California and we stopped in and took a chance. The waitress was patience with us and took time to explain the menu. Anyone that knows me knows I'm not a fan of pho. I'm viet and my father is a cook so needless to say I see it on a daily basis. What I like about this place is the fact that they serve northern specialties, which I've failed to find elsewhere. For those that don't know, most pho places serve southern Vietnamese style dishes. The Bun Hen (baby clams bun) was absolutely mouth-watering. I'll be back to try the other northern dishes. The menu here is a real gem, offering delicious rarities. The free private parking lot is another star in my book. No need to worry about parking on Dot Ave where drivers like to speed and occasionally ram into side mirrors. read more
