LOVED this place! Small, yet full menu of delicious soup dumplings, shumai, and other authentic dishes. Don't come here for Americanized Chinese food. This is authentic and delicious. They are really good about explaining the menu. It's upstairs one flight and another room upstairs.

Much better this time. The service. The food is a little too much without taste. I had to add sauce. This is still better than having too much taste where you can't do anything about it.

I've walked by this spot way too many times but cannot believe I never tried it. Today, my friends wanted to go and I'm glad we did. I absolutely love the conch rice noodles, it was so thin and fun. The texture was different from other rice noodles. I also love their special wonton soup. They look different from the normal Cantonese wontons, it was smaller but it was good. The soup was umami. The fresh fish in tomato was absolutely breathtaking! If you're in town and want something other than Cantonese food, try them out. They specialize in Szechuan, Xiang and Min cuisines. The super friendly waiter, Sam was the highlight of the meal. He checked to see how we liked each dish. That's customer service!

    Pork dumplings

Everything is great about this little authentic spot! The ladies that work there were super sweet and helpful with decisions and we loved the food! We came only for dumplings and we will definitely come back to eat everything else! A little hidden gem! Super recommend!

I ordered roast pork with a side of rice. I felt that there was too much fat on the pork, and the dish itself could have used more seasoning.

Had to try them hot in the car!

Did their takeouts:: squid, pork w/ garlic chives - excellent! Pork & shredded tofu and bamboo shoots - amazing! I wish I ordered 2! Jan-jan noodle - bit over cooked and plain. Need improvement. Service was quick and easy for call in to pick up. Price is a bit higher but understandable because they are newer than others in Chinatown, higher rent etc...so stop complaining about price people! Decor is eclectic but that's what make Chinatown restaurants fun to eat in. Lol I really enjoyed the takeouts, light and fresh flavors. Will be back to support them.

** ROACHES IN FOOD DO NOT ORDER!!!!!***** I had came here to order for the first time, because I was told food was good. My friend and I are both on a vegetarian diet so we order vegan items on the menu spending around $58 when we got back to the office there was a roach in the food and not only in the bun but as well as dumplings and end of the bag of our crab Rangoon. This is disgusting . I can't even being to imagine if someone who had gotten sauce over their food might of ate a roach. Never again will I be eating from here I'm glad I looked at my food before hand.

We decided to give this a try after giving up on a wait at a restaurant across the street, and well, it said "gourmet", it must be good, although I didn't do much research prior to coming in!! We ordered this chicken in a hot pot, and it came with noodle underneath!! One disk and was way too much for 2 or us! I think it can feed 3. The service was okay, compared to other Chinese restaurants in the area. I give 4 stars for a huge space, nice setting, decent service and decent food!! The food was okay, not WOW me!

Solid food. Plenty of seats at night so we sat right away. Had to ask for water. Ordered the pan-fried pork buns and beef + enoki mushroom pot. Pan-fried pork buns were mediocre. Did not have the most filling. The beef + enoki mushroom pot however was very good. It was similar to a mala spice, so be prepared to drink a lot of water if you get this dish. The presentation was also nice since it came on top of a fire that went out by itself a couple of minutes afterward. The pot was nice and hot the whole duration of the meal. Not a bad experience!

    Inside

We stopped in on a Sunday evening and the restaurant was completely empty, with the chefs and staff hanging out at the tables. We ordered the shredded potato with salted duck egg yolk and the drooling chicken, although the online menu was so well-written we wanted to try everything. The potato was crisp, warm, and rich, absolutely delicious and a must try. The chicken was poached and served cold in a chili oil sauce with peanuts. It had a great Sichuan mala flavor and was amazing over rice, the meat so tender. We had great service and were so surprised by how empty it was considering how delicious and fresh the food was. Definitely check this place out!!

Delicious dinner! The fish hotpot is very tasty, and so are the others. Not too many people in there so pretty comfortable.

Shanghai Classic Pork Pan-Fried Buns上海生煎饅頭: I was instantly hooked! It's hard to imagine finding such good pan-fried buns in the US. Almost every table ordered them, so they were all freshly made, piping hot. The bun was made with unleavened dough, making it chewy and refreshing, with a light, crispy bottom--not oily or hard. The meat filling was substantial and tender, with plenty of broth (see picture). It was sweeter than salty, incredibly umami. The chili oil was also very fragrant, and dipping it in Zhenjiang vinegar enhanced the flavor and cut through the greasiness. Shredded Pork & Preserved Vegetable Noodle Soup雪菜肉絲麵: The noodles were thin and round, with a soft, mushy texture. While the noodles were clearly machine-made, this isn't a problem in the Yangtze River Delta region; the issue was likely overcooking. The shredded pork were well-stirred, with tender meat, but the noodles lacked flavor. They had to be eaten with the pickled mustard greens雪菜 to be slightly salty, and the umami flavor was severely diluted. The tableware is all disposable, and tipping is not mandatory. It's quite affordable.

They come out piping hot and fresh, and can kind of be hazardous if you bite into them too quickly and cause the soup to spurt out. I don't think I've had better ones in the states! In fact, even in Shanghai, it's kind of hard to find good ones sometimes (at least ones that serve them all day and not just for breakfast). It's more of a takeout place as it's rather small, but the interior is clean and bright.

Beef and tripe was very well seasoned and no weird taste at all. The duck blood is the best duck blood in Boston, very tender and delicious. The cost of the dishes surprisingly a little bit cheaper than other restaurants. Even though the restaurant was super super busy, a lot of people waiting for a seat, and there was only one server, a very friendly man, we had water refilled and all the dishes arrived quickly. The service was great. Because the food was so good, many people willing to wait for a seat. I love the small busy restaurant kind of ambience. I will definitely go back soon!

I requested one dish to be non-spicy, and they were able to accommodate that. The only thing was that both dishes were a little bit too salty than my liking. I came here during a weekday lunch, and it wasn't super busy. I would return again.

Our server was attentive and replenished our water for the table as soon as they were empty without our even asking. Food 5/5: every dish we ordered represented Sichuan flavors well, especially the spiciness of it! Our favorites were the eggplant with spicy garlic sauce, with the chengdu dry hot chicken and the string beans. The braised beef with Napa cabbage and mapo tofu were also delicious. Ambience 3/5: super loud. It wasn't even the music, it was that people's conversations were bouncing off the walls in a small space such that it was not possible to hear the other people in my group except who I was sitting next to. I saw several dates there and hopefully they could hear each other ok. Drinks: 2/5 overpriced and disappointing. My Negroni was ok but my husband's Manhattan tasted watery like it had been shaken instead of stirred and the melon highball tastes medicine-y. Overall a good experience because we were hungry and the food was amazing. We made up for not hearing each other well by taking an evening stroll and talking as we walked.

I read somewhere that they changed over their staff and completely obliterated their previous (awesome!) cocktail program. Our server confirmed that last November they started a new cocktail menu. We ordered our standard Trader Vic's Mai Tai (not listed on the new menu) and sent it back as it was undrinkable--super sweet with an off-putting after taste. And the interior has changed, too. Lights in the dining room are much brighter, the inclusive flag is no longer in the front window, and the funky art in the bathrooms is gone. The management or something else is definitely different. The food was hit or miss. The sauce was overly thickened glop in both the chicken with garlic and the peppercorn beef special. Saving grace was our server who was apologetic and helpful.
