#37: Rice plate with grilled Vietnamese sausage
    Lailah J.

Boston, MA (Dorchester) - this is in a neighborhood of greater Boston known as Little Saigon so we figured we'd have luck with a Vietnamese restaurant as I had some hankerin' for pho, as always! The menu is authentic and the bowl of pho is decently solid. I ordered the #65 pho dac biet combo special and while it hit the spot, unfortunately the brisket piece was veiny and tough, barely chewable. Wish I had ordered the bun bo hue which you can't get everywhere. The flavors are on point though not next level - as I'm always on the hunt for the perfect pho broth and otherworldly encounters are rare. That said, my family all enjoyed their respective meals, including my MIL who does not have an "exotic" palate but found satisfaction with her beef stew (bò kho). The food took a while to come out though there were three large parties in addition to other customers so the kitchen must've been stretched. Normally I don't complain about long waits especially with a larger party, but it was rather hot inside (climate control broken?) so it was hard to enjoy the experience comfortably. The family that runs the restaurant is very nice though.

Huong Que = authentic Vietnamese dishes, delicious, and great value, if you're looking to eat classic dishes this is the place. My only complaint here is the street parking (that's alright it's worth it) We ate the dishes as pictured and everything was wonderful - can't name a favorite as they were all great. They were running a special on the crab which was 19.99 and a deal - my baby also enjoyed her pho. Service was quick and ambiance was clean. Solid choice! Big menu with lots of choices for home cooked meals -

Another delicious Vietnamese dining experience! We got #87 Beef Tail Hot Pot and #112 Caramelized Pork Slices. The #112 was easily the star of the show, with succulent pork belly slices in a rich reddish sauce that went amazingly with rice. That isn't to say the #87 was bad. It was a huge portion, very refreshing, and had a variety of great ingredients. The one drawback was that some of the ox tail pieces were very chewy. They have an absolutely massive, 142 item menu. Can't wait to come back!

Fantastic Authentic Viet spot with great prices. The pho was very well priced for the size and quality. Meaty/fatty flavorful broth, lots of meat and soup. The only complaint was that there wasn't very many noodles and I ran out well before I was finished with the broth. The meat however lasted me all the way until the end. The egg rolls aren't anything special and I've had better so I'd pass on those. I was asked if I wanted tea upon sitting which was nice and the tea is just meh, not very hot and was sitting for a while. There were a lot of authentic Vietnamese dishes to choose from and I will be returning since the pho was solid!

Best meal I've had in a long, long time. This place treats their food with true generosity and respect. I ordered the bun rieu, which had such generous amounts of crab, pork, tofu, etc. It's full of every texture with THE RICHEST, SAVORIEST seafood broth. For once i felt like I was eating at home, no skimping on toppings and no shortcuts. Truly just a great experience that hit the spot. My friend got the bun bo hue, which had an equally full bodied broth and generous toppings. The portions were massive, and the hot tea was also excellent. Please give this place a try!

For a quick late lunch I stopped by Huong Que. It wasn't busy since it was Wednesday, New Year's Day, and 1:30pm. I even found street parking a block away. I ordered the bun bo hue ($14.95) and spring rolls w/shrimp and pork ($5.95). This all arrived within 5 minutes. The bun bo hue had decent portion size and nice springy rice noodles. The funky spiciness that sets it apart from other noodle soups, however, seemed absent. It takes like slightly spicier pho, instead of the robust funky flavor I expected. The spring rolls had decently fresh rice paper and vermicelli. The shrimp also had a nice bite. I'll probably come back and try their pho and seafood. That seems promising.

Great spot for Vietnamese food. Good portions and good quality. This is an accumulated review for the 3 color rice dish (pork chop, meatloaf, and pork skin. Bo kho with noodles (I don't care to eat it with bread) and hu teau (seafood noodle soup). The portions for the pork chop plate is huge. The pork chop is a good size, grilled perfectly. The pork skin is solid, but the meatloaf is bomb. I never cared for it, but I actually liked it more than the pork chop(which is my favorite part of the dish). The Bo kho was fine, nothing write home about. I wouldn't revisit the dish but the seafood noodle (hu teau) was great. The broth was light and flavorful and the seafood was fresh. The thing that put it over the top for me was the shrimp cake. It tasted homemade because you could taste the white pepper clearly. I will order that next time I'm back!

This place is perfect for when you want Vietnamese food with a reasonable price and quick. The restaurant looks simple inside, not very instagram aesthetic. When we dine here, there is only one server, but she makes sure that we are well taken care of. The food is tasty and big portion, I would recommend rice noodle beef stew since the broth super strong in flavor.

    Chicken Wings with fish sauce

The restaurant offers authentic Vietnamese cuisine with many specials on the menu. The ice coffee tastes excellent, and the service is great!

Bun Mam Dac Biet - Special Fermented Seafood Noodle Soup

This was my first time trying bun mam. The roast pork was on the salty side but it paired well with the light seafood broth. Not mind blowing but pretty standard Vietnamese noodle soup! I would come back to try the bun rieu. The restaurant has quite a bit of seating, and it was pretty empty for a Friday dinner. Our waiter was extremely friendly and nice.

Highlighting another Vietnamese spot in Dorchester- this place serves a variety of different Vietnamese dishes, particularly lots of soup stuff. We were greeted with big smiles and good energy from the workers and the food came QUICK. My sister and I got the Bun Bo Hue and the Canh Bun. We took some home to go because it was a huge amount (for $14.95 each!!), and my mom said she liked the BBH, and the Canh Bun wasn't her favorite LOL. In my opinion, I thought it was great and it was loaded with lots of different meats, but she was saying how Canh Bun doesn't normally have tomatoes and that Bun Rieu does (a very similar dish). Aside from that, I honestly thought it was really good and I loved the fermented shrimp paste to it for the extra umami flavor. Great portions, nice people, and hearty food!

Canh Bun - Vietnamese Shrimp, Crab Meat, & Pork Thick Noodle Soup
    Nicole B.

I've been craving Canh Bun and this cozy restaurant has that noodle soup. They weren't cheap with Morning Glory (rau muong). Broth was mild, I like to put fermented fish paste in the broth. I always have to order another order to bring home since it's a hike to get there from where I live. The staff were nice and prompt. It wasn't pack during lunch time on a Tuesday so I got very attentive staff. I will give other dishes a try next time I'm in town again.

    Hủ Tiếu
    Sam C.

Every time I come to Boston, I have to hit a Vietnamese restaurant because they often have my favorite soup, Hủ Tiếu, which I cannot get in New York. The version here at Huong Que was very flavorful and just what I needed. My buddy had bún riêu, which was new to me but very robust. The service was very friendly and quick.

Rice plate with shredded pork skin, egg cake and pork chop. Bún Riêu and Hu Tieu.

I would say... other places are just as good or better, bigger portions and just as fresh, priced appropriately. We had the Oysters platter w/onion rings, fried seafood platter and broiled sea scallops. The broiled scallops was a bit overcooked, dried vs the fried sea scallops in the seafood platter was perfect & juicy and plum. The onion rings were okay, had better at Kimball's with more. We spent some time chatting before we even looked at the menu, but our server never made us feel rushed and gave us time to look at the menu. We ordered a clam chowder to start. I ended up ordering the linguini with clam and my husband ordered the poke bowl. The linguini was absolutely delicious. It was a larger serving than I expected, but they provided a good amount of clams in it - which was great! My husband had never had poke before and admitted that it was delicious. This will be a recommended place when visiting Quincy in the future.

Annoying but it happens, we go back and our spot was gone so we debated getting getting another drink but we didn't think it was worth it. 30 minutes later of waiting, we get another text saying now our table is ready, we go up to the host and its not ready. Standing around for 10 minutes, we get put at a tiny table with 4 chairs, where we had to squeeze 2 extra chairs to accommodate our group. Already frustrated, our server/host never came over, someone in our party had to go back up to the host stand to get menus. No one came over to our table for at least 20 minutes, where what seemed like the manager, came to take our drink orders on his phone, not really particularly apologetic at all. We never even saw our server until we put our food in (at least 35 minutes after we sat down). We did not even get meals at this point because we were so annoyed with how long/unaccommodating everyone who helped us was. The apps we had were good but nothing special enough for how unfortunate the entire experience was. I am never one to ask to take something off the bill, but this was awful and they did not even take a drink or app or anything off. I don't see myself ever going back here.

So I go to their website and they have a large order of clams listed at $31.95, and I'm really in the mood for a big plate of clams so I say "what the heck" and order the large. When I arrive to pick up the order, there's a paper sign hanging by the register listing the prices for clams, and suddenly I find out the price I saw on the website was $8.00 dollars! less than what they were actually going to change me, $40.00. Since I have a sense of honor, and didn't want to just walk out without paying for my order, I paid for my takeout and left. Once I got home and opened my order I could see that it in no way resembled what you would expect is $40 worth of clams, I Get clams all the time at The Clam Box and Tony's for prices much lower than this and the amount I was looking at simply didn't justify that ridiculous $40 bill. Now there are other seafood takeout restaurant out there (such as Fred's for example) that allow their prices for clams and scallops to fluctuate with the market. And ALL of them list "Market Price" in the price area of those items on their website. Fish & Chips might show a set price but clams and scallops have "Market Price". Other shops like The Clam Box and Tony's list a fixed price for their clams and scallops on their website, and they HONOR that listed price. Adam's Fish Market does neither of these things, and I can guarantee they will never be seeing another order from me.
