So disappointing. I guess when you grow up in the SGV and are spoiled with bomb authentic pho; there are certain standards and expectations that other pho places will not live up to. We looked up the closest pho spot and saw that this place was nearby and had ok reviews. We glanced at the menu and was shocked by the prices lol. USD$20+ for a bowl of pho? What is this madness? When we got our bowls of bun bo hue they had very little meat in them and it didn't even taste like bun bo hue and they also had very little noodles compared to all the places in 626. The soup wasn't even that good either.. Oh yeah and we ordered the egg rolls which were maybe like USD$10ish and they brought out 2 egg rolls. I was like wait, where are the rest of them? This was a no muss, no fuss lunch stop for me and a friend on a cold, rainy October day. Their lunch menu is fairly light - your choice of three types of pho (beef, chicken, or tofu), a few types of bun and one last category that escapes me (spring rolls?). The menu is posted on the back wall in the back of the restaurant, which is also where you order before sitting down. I chose the chicken pho, as it included both white and dark meat, which you don't see at most places, and my friend ordered the tofu pho. We both emptied our bowls and left quite satisfied. I was sick while in Stockholm, and I found this place because a nice hot bowl of pho usually picks me up. I must say, that this is probably the cleanest Vietnamese restaurant that I've been to anywhere in the world. The employees probably don't see many Asian people around, and they smiled when I ordered using the Vietnamese names of dishes. I'm not Vietnamese, but this type of food is everywhere in California, so I'm very experienced in this type of cuisine. I decided on the prix fixe menu which allows an appetizer, entree and desert for something like $30 US or 245 SEK. I ordered the cha gio (fried spring rolls), a pho bo (beef noodle soup) and the cafe sua da (iced coffee). This was probably the most expensive bowl of pho, spring rolls and coffee that I've ever had. This is probably a $15 US or 120 SEK meal at home. My food was served promptly and was presented nicely. The cha gio was pretty good, the iced coffee tasted a bit off. I can't put my finger on what I didn't like about it. When the pho came, I noticed the temperature was only lukewarm. The broth needs to be steaming hot. Your glasses should fog up, and you should break into a sweat while eating a bowl of pho. This was not even bathtub warm. The broth was also incredibly salty. I love salt, but it was actually too salty to enjoy. I ate a few pieces of beef, and had a couple of spoonfuls of broth. Pho should also be served with basil and cilantro but I received neither. Perhaps this is just a different style of pho than I am accustomed to, but I didn't enjoy my soup. Upon asking for the check, my server saw my half full bowl and said "It tastes bad?" I didn't have the heart to tell her yes, so I said it was fine and I left. I'm very lucky to have access to higher quality pho at lower prices (64 SEK) at home, so the disappointing food with the high prices (149 SEK almost $20!!! for a single bowl alone) was not worth the visit. Their other food might be great, but I didn't risk coming back for more disappointment. Sorry, but its true! Three stars for being super clean and for having prompt service. read more

Vegetarians! This is Sweden so of course there's a section for vegetarians on the menu at this place. I highly recommend the pan fried noodles. Holy shit they are delicious. I probably eat them way too fast every time I order them but I can't help myself. One of the best Pho's I have yet had and in Stockholm of all places! There are no borders. I asked for hot and wow was it hit also I still can't work out how to do this but the flank steak stayed rare even when sitting in that dang soup for 8-10 mins. The restaurant is a bit outdated and you feel it directly when you step inside. I arrive at 17.30 with my friends and we are the first guests in for the night. We order our food and the waiter is nice enough, but the rest of the kitchen staff which have not yet started cooking all stand in the bar starting at us which I feel us super uncomfortable. I am a sucker for ph and every time I go to a Veitnamese restaurant that is usually what I order. I love the broth, the fresh ingredients that always comes along and the chili. So to my disappointment I did not get fresh cut piri piri chili but Sriracha sauce in a can. The excitement level of trying this wonderful bowl of Ph really died. Although the meat was really nice and tender and the soup was good I felt like they cut down on something so cheap and essential that I kind of don't want to go back there. Ordered Mi Quang. I'm not sure they were expecting this order from me. There was a lot of commotion, talking Vietnamese and looking at me. I only picked up enough to understand something was up with Mi Quang. They gave me some hybrid Pho / Mi Quang dish. It was not Mi Quang and this is why I rated this place 2 stars. It was basically Pho with some added chicken, butterflied shrimp, and peanuts. They did not use the correct noodle and didn't even bother putting in rice crackers. My guess, is they were out of ingredients so they passed this off as Mi Quang. Otherwise the cook had no idea how to make it which is possible but not likely. Paid 179 Sek. Much like .Alan Y, I ended up getting a pretty bad cold right after arriving in Stockholm. What's a Bay Area girl to do? Pho and Korean Hot Toddies are my secret. One you must seek out and one you can make at home. My friends were singing the praises of Pho & Bun and said it was a few blocks from their flat. We headed out and were happy to be seated immediately in the only available table. I ordered the beef pho and was so happy to be served up a steaming hot bowl. As you probably know, the magic of pho is in the broth which is a product that takes days to make. I'm happy to report that the pho broth at Pho & Bun is amazing. It made my belly happy. Caught a cold in Helsinki before coming to Stockholm. And when I've caught a cold, there's nothing I want more than a hot bowl of pho with generous amounts of cilantro and sauce. This place however, didn't exactly fit the bill. I had such high expectations after reading reviews off of Yelp. The broth was... wrong. It didn't have the same depth to the flavor - seemed too light, like they didn't simmer it long enough for the flavors to properly develop. That being said, the noodles and the meat didn't seem right. Toppings were scant - a pinch of scallions, a few slivers of sliced onions. No cilantro, thai basil, hoisin, sriracha, or fish sauce to be found. They had some shrimp chips and a big bowl of vinegar and fish sauce-based slaw by the drink dispensers. I would have happily just had shrimp chips and slaw for lunch - the combination was magical. The first meal I had once I got back home was a $7 bowl of pho at my local joint. This place blew me away! The spring rolls were delicious as an appetizer, and the Pho Ga was so delicious that we came back the next night for it again. Very decent Pho and about the only Vietnamese restaurant in this area of town. My only comment is that I possibly miss some of the saltiness I've experienced at other restaurants and versions of Pho but otherwise very nice, clearly recommended and I can't wait to come back and try the other dishes. read more

The price point at this restaurant for what you get is ridiculous!! For 2 bowls of soup and 3 other small side dishes it cost us the equivalent of just over $100. Quite funny once your get over the shock for Vietnamese street food which we have tried all over the world. We're going to frame the receipt. As for the food, it was just okay, will do in a pinch if you are craving those flavors but overall the soup lacked depth and the Bun Bo Hue was not even close to what it should be. Serving portions were small and not exactly authentic. As for service, they were quick and eager when you can get their attention. Went here yesterday for lunch. I ordered the pho ga lunch special for 89 SEK (kinda pricey for lunch). The pho ga was okay if you really have to have some pho. They didn't even give you a tray of bean sprout or mints and I'm a big veggie person. They gave about ten pieces of bean sprouts in your small bowl. Overall, if you really have to have some pho then try it out but other than that, I would skip this place because your not missing out on anything. read more

I just found a new favorite restaurant in Stockholm! We've been here twice and started to eat our way through the menu, there are just so many exciting dishes to choose from. Phò Bò was a great ramen like soup with lots of flavor, the Bón Bò Lá Lõt beef in pepper leaves had textures, taste and finger dipping into a tasty fish sauce. It was just... wow. So many tastes at the same time. Rau Muõng Xào Tòi was also an interesting vegetarian composition. Really great Pho, and awesome service. I've only had lunch here, and it's always great. Coffee is also delicious, not sure why but it's some of the best coffee I've had at a restaurant. The place is good, but a little bit too dark back in the restaurant and crowded with guests that were turned away because they didn't have more tables.
