However, my banh mi today was far from that. It still had very thinly sliced meat that was barely present but at least this time they loaded it with more pickled veggies. It was quite disappointing yet again. The meat is actually thinner than when I first had it. The che dau trang was actually ok from here. The coconut cream is a bit on the salty side, but it balances out with the sweetness from the sticky rice pudding.

I ordered the salad rolls with pork and shrimp...structurally very substantial in size and full of stuff. One could just order a few of these and have a nice filling meal. That said, the peanut sauce wasn't particularly creamy or pea-nutty. The pho is served in a moderately size bowl, but they didn't offer a lot of sprouts or basil. The salad roll had basil as a garnish and I put them into the pho. Also, there wasn't a lot of depth of flavor in the soup base itself...it wasn't watery just bland. Lastly I order the crepe sweet potato and shrimp. To describe this as a "crepe" has never had a crepe (made in the French tradition). It's not at all pancake like and more like a hash brown with shrimp. It was good and crispy but not at all what I expect. The restaurant has amazing ambience, kudos to the decor...with a wall length mural of a peacock and hanging paper lanterns...the restaurant looks exotic. Lastly, service was also just ok, not special or fast. Also, I got my entire order all at once, which I hate especially since I like having Pho hot. When one gets everything at once stuff gets cold! The cooks have no sense of timing (seemingly) and are more concerned about getting the order out. Overall, it's a beautiful restaurant full of charm with ok food and care for the customer. If you're not as exacting as I am about Pho and dining out in general...you may like it...the food is certainly filling.

I'd come here for any of the pork noodle soup offerings, as well as the beef stew/satay offerings. In my most recent visit I had the sa te with rare beef rice noodle soup. Their satay is quite spicy, so keep that in mind. However it's very flavourful, and as mentioned in my opinion one of the best in the city in terms of expanding beyond your typical Pho options. Ambience is quite dark inside, lots of dim lighting. Regardless it's still a great place for a warm bowl of noodle soup on a cold day. Service is excellent here. Definitely recommend this place for some slightly off the road Vietnamese food.

My friend had the fried shrimp with vegetables in an onion sauce with rice on the side. He liked it. I also tried there banana boba juice drink and it's really affordable and well priced. Around 6$ for a juice slush with tapioca balls. Some of the flavors are actually made with real fruits. The banana flavor was not made of real bananas but it was still good and sweet. One more thing I'd like to add is that on the day my friend and I ate there a homeless person walked in and didn't have a lot of money and the owners were very polite to her. I think it's nice that they were willing to take 7 or 8 dollars to feed her some egg rolls and rice.

The place wasn't too busy on a Sunday afternoon, and the only reason I chose this place is cause Viva across the street was closed. Oh well, good thing it's Pho alley down here. Either way, I had my go-to for most Pho places I eat at, which is the beef stew noodle soup. They do their noodle soup really well. The broth is flavourful but not overly oily, and the beef stew is chewy but not hard. Definitely one of my favourites I've had so far in this city (and I've had a lot already). Service was also very good; you get a really nice family treatment as well. I'd certainly recommend this place to others.
