We envy those people. We ordered pho, which was just terrible!!! The broth seems as if it has seafood, and not at all beefy or seasoned like a pho should. C'mon,"pho" is literally in your name! Tried this Vietnamese restaurant since it was one of the last places open when I got off work. I ordered the stir fried vegetables with rice, which is the only vegetarian option on the menu, and a salted plum soda. Huge portion of both veggies and rice. I could've split the dish in half to get two decent-sized meals. The veggies were cooked in a thin, brothy sauce which was subtle but tasty. While not a super impressive dish, it was good as something simple and healthy which is what I was craving. I also enjoyed the plum soda, which had lots of plum pieces. Prices were a little higher than expected. The veggie dish and soda plus tip was $30. I'd kind of expected something in mid-20's just because it was mainly veggies with just a few pieces of tofu, and veggies and rice are not that expensive. Plenty of meat, spring roll was crunchy, no complaints really. They have chili oil, you just have to ask for it. I've had the pho soup before and it's average here. Surprisingly a DECENT place for pho - extra point for opening late in the Olympic village neighborhood and is not a beer / burger joint! Opted for the special pho with the classic pho noodles (this pho is offered with either pho noodles or yellow noodles btw). The large is actually very filling, loaded with a never ending amount of noodles, all served in a piping hot bowl of soup, first sip hit the spot! Only downside is that the soup is really quite bland, the rich beefy flavour of pho doesn't come through enough to make me wanting more, same goes for the vinaigrette accompanying the salad & spring rolls, very bland in general. I personally enjoyed the spring rolls more than the salad rolls, there's something about the crumbly, crispy combo that makes it so addictive! We went back to Pho Quynh Express last weekend and we are happy to report that the quality of the Pho and the service remain the same as our previous visit, which were good. Actually, a bit better, because the spring rolls were perfectly fried this time. Definitely worth a visit if you are in the neighborhood. They ate all of their pho and the meat. It wasn't life changing, but easy to eat and flavor was ok for not having any of the fixings. Also had the Bo Kho with bread. They loved the bread that came with the bo kho. It was very close go what you get in Vietnam. Bo kho had spices and flavor, good amount of lemon grass. This is a no frills, fast Vietnamese restaurant. The experience was pretty transactional, which isn't for everyone, but when you have 2 small kids who don't sit for more than an hr at any one place, it's exactly what you need. If you're looking for an upscale dining experience, try Anh and Chi instead. This is the type of place where you're pressed right up to the bathroom door. Despite that, the food is great. The pho broth is rich and filling, the spring rolls are delightfully crunchy, and the pork Banh Mi was full of mouthwatering flavour (the chicken Banh Mi is almost, but not quite, as good). For the price, Pho Quynh Express is a great deal. I usually spend $15-20 and I leave stuffed. My coworker and I came here for lunch. It was our first time here. We were lucky to get a table for two at the moment we walked into the restaurant. That was awesome without waiting during work hours. Customer service was great. Servers were friendly and took care of all customers' needs including ours. They got our orders correctly as well. I only gave 3 stars because of the food quality. We ordered #53 and #61. #53 was grilled lemongrass chicken with steamed rice. #61 was grilled pork and spring roll with vermicelli. The lemongrass chicken was fully cooked but it was soft and soaked. It did not look like it was grilled or pan fried type of meat. The grilled pork was okay. It was a little bit better than the grilled chicken. The vermicelli was very soft that was over cooked. The interesting thing was that the chef or server had already mixed the fish sauce with the vermicelli. I didn't expect that. I usually liked to mix the fish square myself because I could add the quantity that I wanted. These two dishes came with some veggies. Some sliced cucumbers were mixed with other veggies. They were chunks that did not sliced properly. We liked the spring roll though. The flavour and colour were very unique that we did not normally see this type of spring roll at other pho restaurants. Overall, the meal was quick. That's what we thought "express" means. At least we could fill our stomach quickly and go back to work as soon as possible. The pricing was reasonable especially in this neighbourhood. The restaurant was packed with tables and chairs. It was not a great experience eating here. This place is close to my apartment and is a regular on my wife and I's rotation. The main thing to remember is they only take cash, so that can be a cause for embarrassment if you forget until the bill comes. The curried chicken is popular with my wife and her sister, as well as their noodle soups. Most of your typical Vietnamese favourites are represented. I'm still exploring the menu and haven't picked a favourite yet. The soups come in enormous bowls and will fill you up for sure. Eating with chopsticks is the norm, but they'll bring utensils if you need them. Actual metal utensils too, not a plastic fork and a smirk like I've seen at some places. This place is located 5 min walk from science world . It's somewhat a tiny little restaurant, but has a really big menu . Lots of choices for pho . It's a Vietnamese/ Cambodian cuisine . I ordered lemongrass chicken with rice noodle but the server brought lemongrass chicken on rice . I didn't say anything I ignored the fact it was on rice . It also came with a side soup . The rice and the chicken tasted good but I didn't like the fact that the chicken came with skin on . The taste was good and portion was great . First of all this review is not for the food. It's for the passive aggressive service and policy around Pho Quynh's CASH ONLY policy. 2 out of 4 of us had cash for 3 meals. We were explicit that we did not have enough cash before ordering and were willing to interac e-transfer. Not an option because cash based businesses don't want a paper trail for taxation purposes :( Do you want to support a business that doesn't want to pay for our healthcare and education system? Think about it. It was raining heavily so we were in a dilemma, leave and come back or just share food with the pooled cash . This is when the owner approached us and offered that we come back tomorrow to settle outstanding tabs. We did not live in the neighbourhood so not a good option. In the end we decided not to eat here because customer service/ integrity is just as important as food. Revenue Canada should have laws on what justifies a CASH Only business. read more

So happy a pho place has opened in the Village. We usually do the hike up the hill (or more often, the lazy drive) to Thai Son, but it totally makes sense for pho to come closer to the Olympic Village. I'm not sure how many people know about this place yet, but it's sure to be popular. We've tried it twice now, once for takeout and another eating in. I would recommend take out as this place isn't huge (under 40 seats) and you will definitely stink after. We had to air our jackets after, even the stroller had a lingering smell. The food itself is good. We've tried the pho, beef stew, lemongrass chicken and pork and the spring rolls. All were great. Like another reviewer mentioned, the spring rolls are deep fried in the 'good' batter. Just look at the picture someone posted on Yelp and you'll know what I mean. Tastes way better this way. The service is quick and friendly for what we usually expect when getting pho. They even remembered us from the previous time we stopped in. Nice people. When we were there, a couple walked in to ask if they had basil they could buy off them and they gave it to them for free. This is probably the worst Vietnamese restaurant I've ever eaten at. Misleading photos!! Food looks NOTHING like the pictures. Had I known it would look the way it was served, I would never have ordered it. It also wouldn't have been such a big deal if only it had actually tasted good. Not only did it It look unappetizing, but it actually tasted pretty horrible. It also had way too many bones in it, and I had to spit out the food multiple times just so I don't break my teeth on it. This is also a very UNSANITARY restaurant and does not seem to have any COVID cleaning protocols in place! While in the midst of still eating, the woman worker takes our sauce off our table to give to another table because they're apparently short on sauce. I found this very DISGUSTING and unprofessional. The fact that she just took our sauce and gave it to someone else without wiping it down makes me wonder if she did the same to us when we first sat down. If you're short on sauce, you should make more and make sure there is enough for all the tables you are serving, not SHARE it in between customers especially during COVID!! Customer service was an absolute joke and the woman working there was very RUDE! They apparently accept cash only and do not make this clear at all before we order, ok fine so we have to go to the bank not a big deal, now this wouldn't have been such an issue if the woman didn't CALL us out in front of everyone that one of us had to stay while the other one grabs cash. ARE YOU SERIOUS? if I was going to dine and dash, I would've done it outside where I was eating my food and not walk all the way back into your restaurant to do it. Just got take out in a pinch (it's a 2 minute walk from where I am). Large bowl for around ~$12.60 all in (there's only small, large and XL). The food was ready in 5 min, piping hot (never had pho soup takeout quite this hot). I didn't realize it was cash only but luckily after rummaging in my purse I found some cash. My thoughts on the #16 - I've never seen such thinly sliced tripe! It was pretty much see through. Tbh this could be a positive thing since it's less chewy than the bigger chunks. They must have a really fine meat slicer. It came with the usual bag of accompaniments, no complaints there. Cooked up well in the really hot soup, along with the rare beef. The meat portions are okay, enough for me anyway and the quality is pretty good. Lots of noodles - finished half and the rest went to my fiancé. The broth was light, with a tinge of sweetness to it. Seems to have MSG. Could be a bit light for some people, but that's what the accompaniments are for. Conclusion: it ain't bad for super fast pho takeout that's a 2 min walk away.
