Idk how but no matter what the employees are doing or where they are in the restaurant-- they still ACKNOWLEDGE and greet people when they come in. I just left this place, and I knew I had to write my review once I got home! Yesterday I indulged a little too much and am recovering from a cold, so I knew the right thing to do would be to get some pho. This was my first time at Pho Saigon, but I looked it up and was happy to see it's a "Man v Food" alum. Not only that, but I was reading an abundance of great reviews! When I got there, I was able to get a table, even though it was just me eating (yay!) I like the cafeteria-style seating in the middle of the restaurant, though. The servers were so nice. You can tell they love what they do. The summer rolls tasted so fresh. I don't think I've ever had spring rolls that fresh before! I mean this 1000%. I wish the broth could replace my blood. It's the best pho broth I've had in the 20-something years of living. I will be talking about this place's broth for the next month to whoever has the displeasure of engaging me in conversation. The meat was good, and they somehow read my mind and gave me the right amount of toppings! I love this place. In my book Pho is great comfort food. I had been feeling a bit under the weather and I ordered the small #10 Tai Chin (Steak & Brisket). The noodles, the broth were so good. Everything is made fresh. FYI, the steak comes raw in the #10, so ask them to cook all the meat. When I eat this soup I am feeling nothing but bliss. The first snowfall of the season prompted me to go back to Pho Saigon because, let's face it, nothing is better than a hot bowl of pho on an entirely too cold day. I went with their #1 this time, which would be the equivalent of a "pho dac biet" from other restaurants. So, I'm on the prowl for the best pho, someone recommended Pho Saigon. My friend and I came here on a Wednesday night after work. I will say it's easy to pass this place because it's in the cut a little. I got lost even with the GPS, djm, but I called the restaurant to get landmarks in the area and they were kind and helpful. Thu was our waitress and she was a sweetheart, she was able to answer all of our questions even the patrons there were super friendly. I ordered the spring rolls number 22, pho tom with spicy chicken broth number 20, and a bottle of Thai tea. My friend ordered tai chin gau pho with spicy chicken broth, in short number 1, minus the tripe, and Vietnamese iced coffee. This is my second time having pho so I'm no expert but the broth was tastier than the other pho place I tried. The spicy chicken wasn't spicy at all, so if you're afraid it's going to be a little hot, no need to worry. The spring rolls were fried well, the fish sauce it came with tasted good but I couldn't get with the pungent smell. It smelled a little like anchovies which isn't my thing. The Thai tea is bottled and it wasn't too sweet like some other teas I've tried. Thu and the other teammates working made us feel welcomed! They were very funny as well. This place is fantastic. Friendly staff, quick service, and the best pho I've ever had. Killer broth, which is what really matters and where lesser places falter. The proteins are perfectly cooked, not chewy or dry. You could bring a vegetarian friend and feed them with just the veggies that come on the side. The spring rolls are incredible. And to top it off, one of my favorite things about this place is the aroma: redolent of citrus and herbs, and tinged with old incense from the altars. Yesterday was my first visit and it was absolutely amazing. A friend who is a regular brought me.The spring rolls are a must try. That says a lot coming from me because I'm really not a spring roll fan at all. The sauce that comes with the spring rolls is vegan which is not traditional, but it was so good that I wanted to take some home. I got the Pho Chay without the tofu. I was pleasantly surprised by the amount of vegetables. The flavor was just perfect and I added some spice on my own. The owner and everyone working there is super friendly. One of my favorite pho places!! Love this place so much because the enormous portions and quality food. It's always packed in here and one of the best times to come is during the mornings (best hangover food ever). Can't go wrong with any of their pho, I always get the option with everything in it. I also love their Bun Bo Hue!! Not all Vietnamese restaurants have this item so I get super excited when I see this on the menu. The best part is that the BBH has the pork knuckle! Not for the faint of heart and if you are not adventurous eater/are not familiar with different animal parts LOL. It's my favorite part, love all the fatty pieces and def look like a savage when eating it but it's so worth it. I will say the BBH is not as spicy as I would prefer but just ask them for extra peppers and you will be fine if you prefer more spicyness. I also had their vermicelli noodles with shrimp and pork. It was filled with piping hot broth which was clean and flavorful, noodles and beef. 5 stars for the pho but the 4 comes from the service. It was a late Friday night and I definitely ordered the #1 with everything and the first waiter forget my order, a second one came back to confirm what my order was, and I told her a large #1. So this place is the home of the infamous "BIG BOWL" which consists of 2 pounds of uncooked Pho noodles and 2 pounds of meat all in a big bowl to be finished in 30 minutes (you get the bowl if you finish). You get 5 minutes for a break in the middle and anytime you can take that 5 minutes. Also, you have to sign a liability waiver - hand written - before starting. I came here for this reason because I was under the impression that I could take on this challenge. I was wrong, but I did have fun taking the challenge. I called the night before and came here when they opened at 11 AM. Their portions for a small Pho was actually larger than usual - the dish my wife got. When the bowl came out, it was steaming hot and you are allowed to "play around" with it to make sure you don't burn your mouth. Wished I did so a bit longer because I did burn my mouth. Oh well! I was on a roll and after about 70% of the never-ending noodles, I started to slow down. I wasted so much time and didn't complete the challenge. I was devastated! But, boy did I have fun trying. I do like this place and the person in charge of the challenge was cool. The place is clean and feels more organized as the employees are wearing uniforms (the t-shirt you would win if you beat the challenge). The bathroom was cleaner than I expected, especially since they advertise as the best hangover food. They have plenty of parking in a large strip. Now as for taste, this place is lighter and "cleaner" in the aftertaste than some other Pho places that I have tried recently. It does work well when you eat a large portion like 1.5 pounds of noodles with some soup. I did not feel sick or on the edge of throwing up nor did I feel like my mouth was going to dry up from the salt intake. In fact, after about an hour of taking the challenge, I digested the noodles, and I felt hungry again. No joke. I wanted some ice cream right after this. I even had a hefty dinner later in the day. I guess I failed because of stomach space, but the taste and eating that much was not detrimental at all. It feels like it is a place that you could go back and keep trying because it does not have a negative effect on the body - at least for now. Also, the Big Bowl was only $25, which I think is a steal. If a regular large bowl of Pho is about $10. The amount of food you get is about 6 large bowls - I think.... I'm just estimating. Took our friend here before going to BWI for dinner. Bun bo hue was great, probably best so far within. Baltimore area for us. Had three chunks of blood cubes (as they should!) and a huge knuckle. There were many slices of beef and pork as well. I got the regular and I was perfectly satisfied (and I normally eat a lot). Soup was hot and rich with a slight tang from lemongrass. We also got a banh mi since I haven't tried any in the Baltimore area. We got the marinated pork banh mi. This was a bit of a let down. The positive was the ample pate and portion of pork. However the pork was not the traditional marinated pork typically in banh mi (i.e. the sweet and savory marinated pork) but rather pork chunks. The bread was not the typical French baguette but softer loaf - still good though. This probably lacked pickled vegetables most which typically gives the sandwich some freshness. Their veggies were not as sweet or sour as typical pickled veg on banh mi, and much less in portion to balance the meat. As a result, the sandwich felt a bit heavy and overly rich. All in all- not bad but I probably would try another banh mi next time I come (or stick to their pho). Service was great and fast as per always. read more

My dad had the spicy beef broth and it was not too spicy, a little sweet like coconut milk. 2) Mom had the grilled pork with egg roll. Comes with a clear broth on the side. Nice big portion, but the pork didn't taste like the grilled pork I'm used to (lemon grass flavor), resembled beef jerky flavor. The texture was also somewhat chewy and tough. Never had I been at a Pho place where I see a plate of garnishes thats super huge to serve 3 bowls of pho when I ordered only eggroll appetizer and a small size of their pho saigon special. I used to work at a Pho place myself from the past so i can identified if the meat is fresh or not. Fresh beef, very generous portion, their small size pho is a large size compared to other pho places. Great experience for me in this hidden gem.
