I also asked if they had a common Vietnamese dish (shaking beef - Bò Lúc Lắc) and the young lady was not familiar with the dish at all. Bread was wonderful, crusty and delicious French roll. A cloudy day is perfect for pho. I was very surprised to find a good pho restaurant. For background, I'm from Sacramento and San Jose which has very strong Vietnamese presence so I can be picky when it comes to pho. I got the house special #1 and the meat was really tender. I decided to try this restaurant again after taking a break for a year to see if they might have improved. There was only one four top in the restaurant and we waiting almost half an hour for our order of two orders of pho and an order of salad rolls with peanut sauce. The pho was satisfactory but despite sitting in the broth for ten minutes, the noodles remained clumped together. The salad rolls were very small, 1" in diameter, with only fried tofu, noodles and lettuce. The peanut dipping sauce was so overly salty it was not enjoyable which I have never experienced before because I love peanut sauce. The salad rolls were really disappointing for the $9 price point. My hubs and I are always looking for good food near Costco. We drive over from Florence periodically and it's always lunchtime when we get there. We decided to give Pho a try even though the reviews were mixed. My husband had the chicken and veggies with ginger sauce. I had the chicken eggplant dish. Both were medium spice. We didn't have pho because we weren't in the mood for noodles that day. Anyway the place was quite busy on a Sunday afternoon. The service was great and while both of our dishes were yummy, my eggplant dish had a little more depth to the sauce. The room was cute and well laid out with a small bar. I usually get the pho lovers which has flank steak, beef tendon, and tripe. Wait time was a bit slow to get seated but our waitress attended to us quickly when we were seated. Paint is chipping off of every wall. Table and menu are sticky. Service is totally lax. Asked for a table for one and got seated in the back facing a wall... We were craving a nice bowl of pho since it was a rainy day. I found this place on yelp so decided to give it a try. I ordered the traditional pho and spring rolls. The pho was ok but nothing special. It lacked the strong "pho flavor" that I expect from the herbs and spices. As for the service, I asked a server for extra Thai basil for my pho but was told that it was already included and when I looked inside the bag, it was 2-3 small leafs. The broth was nice and savory - the lemongrass was good in it and loaded it up with plenty of chili oil and hoisin sauce. The service was great and they have lots of options. We used to be regulars. I originally rated this place 5 stars. After our take out experience we will not come back. The yellow curry had old green peppers- you could tell how old they looked with wrinkled pale green skin. The calamari, please remove this off your menu- $10 for a handful of tasteless calamari rings you can get at some hole in the wall bar. Also remove your Vietnamese coffee, it's weak, nothing authentic about it. Ours was made without condensed milk and slow drip. Tastes like whole milk mixed with instant coffee. The crispy pork belly bun- noodles were stale and old. When I complained to the restaurant manager she said they just needed to be heated up since they were sitting out for 20 mins. I'm Vietnamese please don't insult me by saying my complaint about quality control of our $58 meal just needed to "warm up noodles" How am I suppose to warm them up if I ordered to go and they are covered in lettuce? Bun noodles will stay moist and fresh even if left out for over an hour. To go food needs to be ready to eat. I refused a comped meal bc why come back after this horrible experience. The Bun was great: tofu probably the most delicious I have ever had. The greens were crispy and fresh, the noodles just right. Egg rolls were a bit hit! The glass noodle salad had a nice amount of veggies in/on it. And the fruit rolls were different, good fruit, yum sauces but it fell all too easily apart trying to eat it. Definitely worth repeating. We had it as delivery and the delivery was about 30 minutes later than asked for, (Doordash) but I don't know if that was the restaurants's fault or ....... Sadly though the pho was just okay. I ordered number 2 and I maybe had 3 small slices of beef (1-2oz). The broth was greasy and not much flavor and the noodles had been cut into small pieces which made it almost impossible to pick up with the chopsticks. My friend ordered tofu and vegetable pho and there was no tofu so she had to order a side. Wife and I came here to have some Bun and Pho. She got spicy pork and I got the Nam. Both meals were great! Regular bowl is definitely a regular bowl. If you are looking for a big bowl of Pho go for the Large order. We came around 2pm and they appeared to be having a late lunch rush as all the table filed in about 20mins. We decided to sit at the bar which proved better due to the floor seating area getting a large helping of direct sunlight making it quite warm. The service at this time is slim being one server for what is about 12 tables. He definitely was flustered and got swamped causing him to goof a couple of tickets but overall he was nice. They have some local beers on tap your typical domestics. They also have wine. I will definitely come back later in the evening to see how their dinner service is. Incorporate the word 'Pho' into the name in a clever and punny way? Check. I just couldn't give them 5 stars because I, unfortunately, had quite a wait when I went to go pick up my order. Luckily the food was worth it. I'll be honest. Not a big fan of Pho. I find the dish underwhelming and a bit boring. So I ordered the bun (pronounced boone) tofu and fruity veggie roll. This was my first bun and now I am a total self declared bun head. The fruity veggie rolls are adorably wrapped. I forgot to say no celery, so I had to deface the delicate rice wrap packaging. After removing that insult of a vegetable, I finally enjoyed the overall flavor of the rolls. I am looking forward to dining in at this location after the world is put back together.
