This is the place to go if you are in Anchorage! Fresh Vegetables! Veggie PHO with Tofu is the best I have had. They have some killer cold salads with TARO that is out of this world! great prices compared to the inflated Alaskan prices (20.00 pizzas etc...) However, this place is the bees knees when it comes to Asian food in Alaska and I went three days in a row because it was that good compared to anything else I had tried! Thank you guys! read more

Tl;dr: Fresh rolls were great. Their pho broth sucks and if you're getting it to go you'll receive the stingiest helping of sides you've ever seen. I'm weirded out by the rave reviews this place has, so I'm wondering if maybe I just got my order on an off day?? I've never considered myself a connoisseur of pho, so imagine my surprise when I took a sip and found myself *shocked* by how flavorless the broth was! It tasted like plain beef stock(?!) - the savory, deep, gelatin and bone flavor is what makes pho special. If I knew the broth would be so bland I would've skipped it. And I would've put oyster and rooster sauce in it to help... But they barely gave me a fifth of a dixie-sauce-container worth of oyster sauce. For the mix ins, I got plenty of sprouts, but get this... One. Slice. Of jalapeño. *One*. A *single sprig* of basil, some cilantro... and the tiniest single wedge of lime I've ever seen. Also their combination beef has no tendon? I hate to bash so much, but if the broth is going to need so much help to taste better, why be so stingy with the mix-ins and give almost no sauce? :( The fresh rolls were actually good. They do those up with the good fillings- plump shrimp, chicken. And the sauce is the good peanut sauce which they gave plenty of. So, that was nice. But what gives with the stingy bland pho with no toppings, guys? Pho is in the name! (One slice of jalapeño wth??) Glad other people at least enjoy it. :/ I'll pass if it's not rolls. read more

Fireweed outpost of this venerable institution is my go to, as it's the closest to my house. Their broth is rich and satisfying, with flecks of spent cilantro and charred garlic floating atop with a beautiful slick of marrow. I usually get the combo or oxtail, so can't vouch for other options. Despite what previous reviews have stated, 12 dollars for a big bowl of pho isn't overpriced for anchorage or anywhere for that matter. read more

Thanks Yelp! This was a great find. I have eaten at well over 40 pho joints in the last two decades and this place hits top 5. Honestly, I have flat walked out of some in the past. Even at 10:30AM they were busy. Always a good sign. They pack a lot of meat into their $12 bowl, by the way. read more

Great Pho here!! Wonderful, rich broth. The service was amazing! We were immediately seated and our drinks attended to. We had a very short wait for our food, so that was really nice! They were all kind and accommodating to my 3 year old. Everything was spotless, too. The food was served piping hot and the herbs were super fresh! Definitely a great place to eat. The outside might look a little run down, but the inside is very clean. The food was great, and the portions are very big, so there is no way you will leave feeling hungry. The waiter was very friendly, and kept the mood light by telling jokes and making the whole experience better. He works pretty hard, too. He's not exactly very young and still manages to be both a waiter and a janitor, making sure everything is clean as can be. Don't miss this opportunity to have some really good food. read more

Wanted to have Pho Tai this Saturday night, and stopped at #8. We hadn't been there in some time but it was good the last time for lunch. There was one vehicle in the parking lot, which should have been our first red flag. We ordered spring rolls and a steamed bun to start. The spring rolls must have been rolled in the morning because the rice paper was glue paper. Then the steamed bun arrived and it didn't look steaming; asked if the bun was hot? "Oh yes!" Cut into it and it was COLD inside. Then the waitress said she'd heat it up some more. I asked "Do you heat in a microwave oven?" "Oh yes!" I couldn't help myself and burst out saying "Oh hell no, a microwave turns the dough into rubber." THEN she said "Oh do you want us to heat it up on the stove?" I said no, we want our bill. I'm giving this place 5 stars because for one this place is so clean inside and out. It doesn't smell like broth or like an old Asian restaurant. Even the bathrooms were clean. Service was super fast and friendly. Their food tastes delicious and not too salty. Price wise it is average for the restaurants here in Alaska. Dining with a toddler who is a tad bit messy when he eats has always been a bit nerve wracking to me but this place and their staff has made me feel comfortable bringing my young toddler and family here. we will definitely come back for more! read more

A weird dining experience but good Pho, probably worth a return visit. Driving up to the building I was a little confused if I was allowed to park right out front. The parking lot is just a strip of asphalt and covered in ice/snow. I wasn't sure if there were actually lines under there but when in doubt...park wherever because nobody's looking. Walking in was even more confusing, at first it looked like a fast food restaurant with large lit up signs displaying the menu on the back wall. It looked like you were supposed to walk up and order from that but the hostess approached and I was seated with a menu. There were also a bunch of blinking Christmas lights everywhere, it was the end of January so maybe it was left over from the holidays but still odd. The building itself looks nice and recently renovated, weird décor choices aside it wasn't too bad. The Pho definitely changed my mind about this place, I got the Pho beef combo and it was great. Super savory broth, well cooked meats and noodles. They only have one size which was disappointing, I would have liked a large. The bowls they use are about the same size as everywhere else but at $12 they charge a little more than most other places. The quality is there but a little more expensive than what you typically see around town. They did provide a huge plate of garnishes though with lots of fresh basil, bean sprouts, jalapeno's and cilantro. It also had the usual variety of hot sauces, chili oils and such. It's less than 5 minutes from where I live so I think this may go into my regular rotation of restaurants. I primarily rate Pho based on the broth and if there's wasn't so good I'd only have given this place a 3 star rating. read more

Outstanding! Service, food, cleanliness all rate 5 stars! Order any of the soups on the menu during winter and you'll be warmed thru. Summer days are perfect for a vermicelli combo dish. Food is consistently fresh and service is incredible. If you're not sure what you'd like to order I recommend asking the server or owner. I only ate half my soup and asked for the rest to go, she dropped my bowl and only gave me $2 off then she charged me full price, gave me $2 in cash when I pointed it out on the receipt, she didn't even offer to replace my food for free but wanted to charge me for 2 meals!!
