I rarely have such bad things to say about a restaurant but this was the worst Thai food I have ever had. The food was expensive as well. The panang curry was flavor less unless you like flavor of coconut milk that's all I could taste. The yellow curry is literally served with whole potatoes sliced in half with no flavor. I got the pineapple curry lunch special, 5-stars. I found it to be very, very mild. It was pretty tasty and well-made though. The lunch specials come with soup, check. I found the portions to be a little small though, I was definitely hungry a couple hours later. At $13, the lunch specials are more expensive than competing Thai spots in town. The dining area looked nice and clean. The dinner dishes averaged $20 a plate and the portions were small. The egg noodle that we ordered didn't have any egg in it, just weird. The yellow curry only had a few chicken pieces and not much curry. During the dinner rush they only had one server handling over 10 tables and pick up orders. They have one of the best tasty Pad Thai dishes in town. It's a cross between sweet and savory, and it's not too sweet. I recommend coming here during their lunch hours because you get the most for what you pay for. Their egg roll has an authentic and delicious crunch and taste. The other dishes I recommend are their pumpkin curry and their coconut sauce, which you can add either tofu or meat to, if you so desire. I don't normally order curry, but did find both the coconut and pumpkin dishes absolutely delicious. You can almost eat them both like soup. Looked really nice inside. The girl that took my order on the phone was very nice. The food however wasn't very good at all. Asked for Pad Kee Mao and was told it was the spicy chicken. What I got had no spice at all except sugar. The noodles we like very overdone egg noodles. There was no flavor other than a ton of sugar. It was too sweet to eat. Was more of a dessert. I couldn't eat it. I will maybe give this place one more chance as they are really close but I wasn't impressed at all. Especially for $20. read more

This place is pretty good. It looks like it is a woman holding the kitchen down and that's amazing! So you know for sure the food is made with love. Love the yellow curry, it's nice and sweet and flavorful. The only thing is I would want smaller chunks of chicken. And a bit more pieces of chicken. WOW! I ordered larb with the description of "a little spicier than normally served" and it was perfection!! The perfect amount of spice level for myself(to not be dying in need of milk like I used to order!) so much flavor as well, I can tell without spice it would still taste amazing. My husband ordered Pad Thai and said it was super tasty. The fried rolls are cooked to perfection with the perfect amount of flakiness. I would definitely recommend the fresh rolls as well. I love Taste of Thai! It is an excellent restaurant! They have friendly, fast service and the decor and atmosphere in the restaurant is very nice and relaxing, I love their chicken cashew nut - lots of fresh chicken breast pieces mixed with a ton of tasty cashews. The sauce is wonderful! I also love their coconut curry shrimp. A generous amount of excellent shrimp and vegetables in a very delicious curry. Their Thai egg rolls are deep fried to perfection with a wonderful filling and sauce. Their fresh spring rolls are also a favorite and again, the sauce is great! I was looking for a portable and reasonably- portioned lunch after running some errands on the South side and found A Taste of Thai. I'm a sucker for angel wings so if course I ordered those, but I wanted to try something new, so I added the Thai wraps, which were a surprise because they are an open wrap, like a soft taco rather than a burrito. That was great because I was able to manage the filing- to- wrapper ratio to my own taste. The filling was tasty and I especially appreciated the addition of the mushrooms. The angel wings didn't disappoint; crunchy on the outside, juicy and tasty on the inside, large enough to save one for later. The order was ready before I expected, it was fresh and hot, and the young man who waited on me was delightful. Despite its being out of my usual stomping grounds I'm looking for an opportunity to return. read more

I wanted Thai and forgot about this new place but it was by my office. Called the number and voilà, in 20 minutes I had Thai. I got the pad Thai as its my go to to judge a thai place. Pleasantly surprised it was really good I'd say top notch. My husband got the panang curry and it also was excellent. Lastly, we got some fresh rolls. Not all fresh rolls are created equally, but these were great. The only reason for a 4 star review is they forgot the peanut sauce. However, the rolls were good enough to eat without it. I will go back and try them again. So glad to have a great Thai place on the south side near my house. read more

Amazing and wholesome food. No excessive oil or cream like mainland US Thai food. Amazing flavors and fresh food. I had pad Thai and green curry. Tested them both with Nima and came back gluten free!! Wonderful staff and hospitality as well. Most of the menu can be made gluten free. Very few items on the menu actually contain gluten. My favourite Thai restaurant in Anchorage!! First of all, their restaurant is beautiful! They have long mirrors that take up the entire wall and gorgeous Thai decor surrounding you right when you walk in. It is definitely one of the most beautifully decorated Thai restaurants I've been to. I ordered the chicken pad thai and thai rolls (regular deep fried spring rolls), and I was nothing short of impressed. Their portions are huge, so before I even got to the halfway point, I was already starting to feel the belt on my pants tighten up a little bit. I was okay with that though, because Thai food makes for great leftovers! My friend and I ordered the thai rolls and chicken fried rice to go for later, and even their to-go portions are big! Needless to say our midnight snack craving were kicked right away. The great thing about Taste of Thai is their consistency. They have always delivered great results and awesome service. Updating review due to a less-than-desirable dinner experience. I had high hopes after my lunchtime trip, but it fell short. We came in an hour and a half before close, and I got the panang again with hot sauce on the side. I had to use almost an entire container of their hot sauce to make the curry my preferred level of spice. Which is just a personal thing, but panang curry really should have SOME kind of kick to it. But the reason why I'm removing a star is we had finished eating a decent meal and needed a box and our check. We hadn't been checked on after the food delivery yet but that was okay, we didn't need anything. But we finished and waited...and waited...after 10 minutes we realized the wait staff was eating their OWN meal, on the other side of the restaurant. Admittedly, we were the only ones left, but there was still more than a half hour until the restaurant closed. Another 5 minutes went by, and we were put in the incredibly awkward position of deciding whether we needed to go interrupt our server's meal to get our check or if we should just wait it out. Eventually someone caught our desperate eye contact and took care of our to go and check but it was uncomfortable enough I'd hesitate to go again other than lunchtime or a rush hour. I'd understand if we were there after close, but we try to be conscientious of the restaurant worker's time (they want to go home, I get it!) but this was well before close. read more

I have been here for lunch twice, they were good. Came here for dinner on a Friday night and it was awful! There were 6 of us and not one of us liked our dish. I got yellow curry fried rice and I only could have a couple bites. It had a strange taste and zero flavor. Their Penang didn't have any spice(traditionally it does) and was a tiny portion. Their spicy noodles and zero hotness either. Do they not make spicy things here?? They also have traditionally high south side pricing but small portions. The fried rice was a large plate though but only 5 shreds of chicken. They only had one server doing all of the 10+ tables and one food runner. We also got the combo rolls with 4 fried spring rolls 5 fresh. They were good, the sauce was like watery Italian dressing. I'd rather have sweet chili sauce or most places have peanut. I went in for lunch on a Saturday afternoon. There were only two other tables taken, and I was seated quickly. The atmosphere was right on, and the granite-topped tables were nice. Service was good, and my server was dressed in Thai attire. I liked that. They have two pages of $10.95 lunch specials, and I ordered the Thai Pork Stew. It came with a cup of soup that I couldn't identify. It seemed like egg drop soup with the addition of some veggies, and macaroni of all things. All good though. Lunch came on a three compartment plate, and it was well presented. Jasmine rice, steamed broccoli, and an egg roll accompanied my stew. I asked for "hot" when I ordered. My server asked "on a scale of 1-5"? I said "5" and it was the right call. Nice and spicy, and very delicious! One odd thing I noticed was that there were no condiments on the table. I had to ask for soy sauce, and I would have asked for some chili sauce, but my food was hot enough. There weren't even salt & pepper shakers. No big deal, but not what I'm used to. This is the reason why I knocked them down a star. I noticed some delicious-looking dinner offerings that I'll be back for: Thai sweet and sour halibut, and a duck dish that sounded excellent! read more

I love Thai food and I have a favorite restaurant in town however this one is closer to my house so I decided to try it for a quick lunch. A nice gentleman greeted and seated me as soon as I came in. The menu had several options. I was a little bummed that they don't offer a lunch combo plate but they did still offer single dish lunch plates that came with rice and a spring roll. Soup was served before the meal. It was like a vegetable soup and it was very tasty. I ordered shrimp pad Thai and it came out very quickly. It's probably not my most favorite pad Thai in town but it was very good. I am sure I will eat here again soon! read more

I had their green curry with Tofu. The portions are smaller than other place which is fine. The sauce was thinner and a little sweeter than other places - I actually liked this. But, their Thai food is more on the American side and less traditional.. this isn't a bad thing. Honestly, I would frequent this restaurant again. It seems consistent. Plus the restaurant inside is very cool looking. My waitress was dressed in what looked like traditional dress, she was adorable. read more
