    18. Fish Ball Noodle Soup
    Joelle L.

Solid pho place on Commonwealth by the BU campus. The two items I've gotten here, Fish ball pho and lemongrass pork vermicelli, are flavorful and definitely satisfy my Vietnamese food cravings. I want to come back to try their banh mi and their drink options. Convenient for take out and you could dine in as they have a couple tables but plan for extra time to wait if you come during the weekend or before an event at Agganis Arena. Their space is smaller and it can get quite busy but it's well managed.

This place is always reliable and very comforting. The food is good and taste fresh. You order at the counter, it can get packed not much seating. But there are tables if you want to dine in. Highlight is the food.

Amazing food! Every dish we have tried is great but the pork chop rice plate and Special Pho are a favorite. Bahn Mis also need a little shout out. I have been going to the same Vietnamese restaurant in the Bay Area since I was a kid and have tried many many different places throughout the country and especially the east coast since going to college and moving out here and this is the only place I have tried that comes close to my place back home. Even took my parents here during a visit right after they returned stateside from a vacation in Vietnam and they loved it. Don't hesitate to try this place out I can't recommend it enough!

Everything was pretty good you just have to tweek your order. Also got side of chicken broth not sure if it was from scratch didn't ask as we got it to go got a cold cut banh mi which was solid. I shall return. Use to buy banh mis when they were at the food court in super 88 up the block.

Not sure I would describe this place a hole-in-the-wall, like some reviews say. Maybe it's because I've been to more run-down places than this in the past LOL, but Pho Viet's is a small restaurant with lots to offer. They have a few tables and chairs for dining in, and whenever I drop in, there are always lots of people eating inside. I like to order carry out from here because of how close it is to home. Service is fairly quick and they have a very large menu. What I appreciate the most is their generous portions. I can get almost two meals out of one order, so it's worth the almost $20 for an entree!

The pho was delish! Despite being busy, the restaurant didn't feel overcrowded and the food came out extremely fast. On top of that, the portions were huge for a very reasonable price. This is a great spot for warm, comforting vibes and to grab a tasty bowl of ramen with friends or family!

Just a short walk away from Agganis Arena and accessible via the green line! Got the special beef noodle soup and it was delicious and a large serving size for it's cost. The amount of meat was good and the broth was very clean and had a depth of flavor. Didn't take a picture of the skewer appetizers but they were 3 large sized skewers which was decent for it's price. Not the best location for big parties since there's an assortment of tables inside that can maybe fit 25 people? Once it hit 6pm it got slammed so definitely try to get there sooner rather than later if you want to sit down. If you sit towards the front of the restaurant, you will get a draft whenever someone opens the door which will be pretty often (this place seemed very popular w door dash etc). Will definitely come back here again, possibly Everytime I go to an event at Agganis?

Stopped by on a rainy day and found the bun bo hue to be a great pick-me-up. It was very comforting and portions were generous. Very mildly spicy. The beef tendon was very tender and I appreciated the variety of meats in this dish. Food came out quick and service was friendly. There are plenty of tables in the back of the restaurant.

Pho Viets is one of my go to places for quality Vietnamese food. I've gotten everything from pho, banh mi, vermicelli bowls, and rice plates. Everything I've ordered has always been top notch and the portions are enough to share or keep for 2 meals. It's great that they've moved into their own place since they have a handful of small tables for indoor seating. The service is quick because everytime I've ordered online it's been ready to pickup by the time I get there. My most recent visit I decided to try out the Vietnamese ham and rice rolls. It comes with side of pickled carrots, cucumbers, and bean sprouts with fish sauce and spicy sauce. It's definitely best eaten when it's fresh when the rice noodles are soft, but still heats up well the next day. If you looking for a quick, affordable meal I'd definitely recommend checking this place out.

So glad this place got their own space out here - they used to be in the food court across the street . What an upgrade! And what a cute cool and cozy space inside! Very cute interior art on the counter wall depicting scenes from South Asia, and the brick wall with the benches and greenery with potted plants. They did a great job with the decor incorporating the Vietnamese culture and roots in here. Very nice! It's a long space that leads to a few tables at the far end. Seating for about 20-25 people. Banh Mi sandwiches were great we got chicken and pork plus a few extra for next days lunch. Yummy! Tasty, filling and fresh as always! Go here if you haven't already!

Phở Gà (Chicken Rice Noodle Soup)

I have had the pleasure of going here and I think Pho Viet's has some great Vietnamese food around the Boston area! Granted my experience is slightly limited because I have only been there once and did not order a lot of stuff, so if I have the chance to return, I would like to try this spot again. Phở Gà was probably the best I have had almost anywhere in the United States, and the fact that the chicken is hand-pulled makes the texture extra nice! The broth is very well-made which of course enhances the experience of eating any type of phở! I also had the vegetable & tofu egg fried rice. The rice was quite mediocre with no distinct flavor or seasoning, probably because the vegetables on top of the rice should be the main part of this dish, and it shows. The dish felt like vegetables placed on top of plain rice and that was it. The vegetables also lacked seasoning, which was unexpected. The stark contrast of these two dishes that I have had is leading me to give this place a 4 star. I think part of it might be because others don't really come here to order what I have ordered, the Rau Cải Xào Cơm (Vegetable & Tofu Egg Fried Rice), so maybe I will order something more in line with where their popularity lies next time.

    Chicken Banh Mi
    Fay F.

Fish ball noodle soup comes with crispy garlic on top; I opted for pho rice noodles. I think you can customize your noodle type. Pho Ga is good, too. And they make the best banh mi in Boston--such good quality. I've only tried the beef and chicken banh mi, as I don't eat pork and prefer my tofu outside of bread, lol. Truly, they are the best bang for your buck. The chicken inside the banh mi is well-portioned and cooked/seasoned extremely well, as is the beef. I love a good beef banh mi, but I ALWAYS crave their chicken banh mi--trust me and just try it.

Popular location amongst locals and students. It is typically very busy and the seating is limited. Service is generally quick. You place your order first and then find a seat. It is Chinese operated as you can hear Cantonese through out the cooking team. Because of the consistent clientele and quick turn around; the food tends to be hot and fresh. The portions are generous and the price is reasonable for the area.

Vietnamese cuisine is traditionally rooted in affordability, sharing an abundance of food, and enjoying good laughs with great company. By trying to force the concept into a high-end parallel, it just ends up feeling mediocre and hollow. The value simply isn't there--a single appetizer, one main entree, and three refreshments came out to a whopping $105. To make matters worse, the service was incredibly judgmental. Because our party of three only ordered that amount, the staff pretty much ignored us for the rest of the night after taking the order. The awkwardness started the absolute second we sat down. Before we could even settle into our chairs or get handed a menu, the waiter demanded to know what we wanted to drink. When we asked to see a menu first, he looked completely confused as to why we'd need one. After another staff member finally took our order, we sat there waiting for what felt like an eternity. When the food eventually arrived, they gave us sharing plates and chopsticks. We asked for a spoon to properly eat the claypot rice, and the waiter gave us another judging look. As Asians, we obviously know how to use chopsticks, but you objectively need a spoon to scoop the claypot SAUCE out of the pot! While the food itself is decent, the cramped atmosphere, poor hospitality, and inflated price tag mean I won't be rushing back. I might grab take out for the dumpling platter and cat fish rice pot but definitely not sitting in again.
