Pho Vinh is perhaps THE BEST Vietnamese restaurant in the Colonial/Mills Viet District. It's been a bit over a month since we've had Pho and wanted to try somewhere new for a change. So Pho Vinh it was. It's crystallized in my mind the day I first had Pho. Incredibly fresh. The flavors made love with my taste buds, the aromas made my mind felt at peace and the colors made my eyes dilate. I remember feeling rejuvinated.. as if the Pho kickstarted my body into an internal healing process. Since then, I've been to 4-5 different Viet restaurants in the area (Vinh's, Pho 88, Anh Hong, Lac Viet, etc.) to try their Pho and although most were delicious and adequate, not one restaurant matched the initial experience I had once upon a time. At Pho Vinh? My prayers were answered. We purchased Number 84 (Pho with rice noodle, slices of medium rare steak, flank, brisket, tripe, tendon). We also ordered Number 100 (Huû Tieáu Mì, special combo of shrimp, snow crabmeat, pork roast and wonton). Exactly the way I remembered my first bowl. The vegetables, noodles, broth, beef, etc. were all refined in their bright and nuanced flavor. Simply beautiful. I peered around at the dishes of our neighbors and all their food looked immaculate. On my next visit, I'm going to make it a point to order one of their rice platters. Or, their Ban Xeo. As you can tell by the pictures posted on Yelp, the rice platters look perfect. Their entrees are pricey, but if their rice platters look this great, I'm sure the entrees are epic. See the pictures? Those aren't professionaly taken marketing photos. This establishment takes pride in their presentation and ambience. Our server was gracious and attentive with a genuine smile. The decor inside is one of the finest as well. I found myself entranced by the cultivated, delicate Vietnamese female paintings that were ornately framed on the walls. I considered asking where I can get a print for myself! Location: The restaurant is located behind Einstein Bros Bagels. The wait was definitely long. We waited to be seated and we waited to get our orders taken down. We continued to wait a good 30 minutes to receive our meals. One of the waiters came by to tell us the service was slow today because a health inspector was there, but on Yelp I already saw the service was slow in general. So my expectation for fast service was not high in the first place. The restaurant definitely looked pack, but I guess that was because they were all waiting for their food as well. Once we received our food. They gave us the wrong order. We got beef stew instead of curry. Once we received our curry, we asked to order another roll of bread. However, they seem to have ran out of bread at the fine lunch hour of 1:00 PM. Besides the bread, we seem to never receive our side of vegetables to put in our bun cha hanoi bowl. We're still waiting. The service could use some more work. The food overall was alright. It wasn't the best I had but it wasn't the worst thing ever. The curry had lots of good flavors; however the stew itself was a little watery for my liking. The big bowl it came in was a plus though. The restaurant in general is a good restaurant to find the taste of Viet Nam, but you won't expect it to be the best. The prices are around $8-$9 for each dish. Okay, if you're looking for pho in Orlando, stop looking and go to Pho Vinh now! This is by far the best pho in Orlando, if not all of the South. I'm Vietnamese and consider myself a foodie, so I'm not very easy to please...especially when it comes to Vietnamese food. Having tried most of the Vietnamese restaurants in the greater metropolitan area (and continuing to try new ones), I have to say Pho Vinh is by far the best. I'm not sure what others are rating on, but in my book...most other places are 3 to 3.5 stars, while this place is a sure 5-star! The broth here is wonderfully flavorful with a good balance of cinnamon, star anise and ginger, the noodles are cooked perfectly with a toothy bite to them, and the bowl of soup often will come piping hot with culantro (yes culantro, which is a sign of authenticity) along with the basic basil, bean sprouts, lime and hot peppers. It doesn't get much more perfect than this. If you want something spicier than pho, try their bun bo hue, which is a spicy lemongrass beef noodle soup. I often replace the noodles with egg noddles as I like the texture more than the thick rice noodle that the dish calls for. If you like ramen, the egg noodles will sure to please. Although this dish isn't as authentic as say the version at Vietnam Cuisine (which comes with ham hock and blood pudding), the flavor is quite tastier. Everything at Pho Vinh is freshly made to order and you can tell the attention to detail by the chef and the owners. They truly care and it shows. I know I sound like a fanboy, but I can't say enough about this place. Just go there and you'll see what I'm talking about. Pho-nomenal! The feeling that came to mind when I walked into this place pure serenity. I have always wanted to try this place based on prior reviews. I love Vietnamese food so that fact that I can add another Vietnamese spot to the list is pure Amaze Balls! I came here on a Friday Afternoon for lunch and to my surprise I did not have to wait for a table, I was seated immediately. Typically I order a Pho Chicken Noodle Soup, but this time I decided to venture out and order outside of the box. I ordered the Bun Bo Xao, translation Rice Vermicelli with stir fried beef, onion and lemon grass. This wonderful concoction was tasty, and the portion size was huge. I had leftovers...The food came out like speedy gonzalez, I blinked my eyes and before I knew it Voila! the food was there genie style! The prices ranged anywhere from 8.00 dollars to 13.00 dollars. Delicious food and inexpensive prices always a bonus. The menu was extensive, I cannot wait to go back and experiment with other Vietnamese delicacies. Tip - they do not accept Mastercard associated with SunTrust (odd, I know). I am not sure if this is a new exception. They do not have this posted anywhere in the store, which almost became an issue for my party. I highly suggest they post a sign on their door. Pho Vinh gets 4 stars for my first visit. I had their #100 which was a combo of shrimp, snow crabmeat, pork roast and wonton in their pork based sauce. The dish was very tasty, especially once I added the jalapenos, bean sprouts, cilantro and basil. The fried wontons were DELICIOUS. However, I did not see a lot of crab meat and only got 2 shrimp. Most likely on my next visit I will try a different dish. The meal is very filling and a very reasonable price, only $10.95. Service - the server was very accommodating and helpful, and we received our meal within 10 mins of ordering. However, the place wasn't very busy when I went. The unflattering back entrance gives way to a grand welcome structure, The dining room is a long row of polished wooden tables and chairs. Very austere and uncluttered, this serene setting gives a sense of calm. The menu showcases Vietnamese fare with soups, salads, appetizers, noodles, rice platters and vegetarian items. Goi Ngó Sen - Lotus rootlets with Shrimp and Pork sour salad. Good contrasting sourness, lotus gave a nice crunch. Fresh, delicious, and flavorful item. Bánh Canh Thap Cam - Thick clear rice noodle with shrimp, pork, fish meatball, Prawn cakes and fried tofu. Bold, full flavors, with oil droplets floating on top. Noodles were tender, Cá Kho Tô - Salted fish in Clay Pot. Ample saltiness and spicy peppercorn flavors. Tender fish with heavy musky, muddy, fresh water aroma. The place was small and quaint, mostly decorated with plants. Come hungry because their Pho bowls are huge. On a cold Friday evening, this is the best place for comfort soup. Each Pho can be served with Bean sprouts, thai basil, and limes. This is one of the few places that serve authentic (non fried) Summer Rolls. There's few vegetarian pho options but my significant other substituted beef with tofu, and there's a "Tofu and Chive Soup." Every time my Vietnamese fiancé and I are in Orlando, we visit Pho Vinh. He prefers their pho special over every other bowl he's had in Orlando. Food - Authentic, delicious, fresh Vietnamese cuisine. Great vegan options with vegan meats. I love their lemongrass dishes because they are tangy and flavorful, with fresh lemongrass - none of that boring packaged stuff you get from other places. If you are vegan and order from the vegetarian menu, just make sure your server confirms there are no animal products in the dish. On a previous visit, I made the mistake of ordering vegetarian pan fried rice noodles after specifically confirming they weren't egg noodles only to be served the dish topped with a fried egg... Double confirm that your food doesn't include eggs at all or any meat or seafood in the sauces. Service - Friendly and attentive. My fiancé and I love finding little, and usually family owned restaurants. We chose to eat here because we have heard it was tasty and the reviews speak for themselves. We both ordered Pho, and spring rolls. I ordered their Vietnamese ice coffee and everything was outstanding. The broth was extremely flavorful on its own and the spring rolls were tasty as well. Their coffee was a lot more subtle compared to the other Vietnamese iced coffees I've had before but it was still amazing. Overall we had an amazing experience and we went during their last hour of service. Love Pho? Then you've got to try Pho Vinh Orlando, located on Colonial & Primrose, on the eastern edge of the Colonial/Mills Vietnamese district. I used to go to Little Saigon for my Pho fix, but I think I've found a new favorite. Always looking to try new dishes on those huge menus at Orlando's Vietnamese restaurants, I was quite happy to discover a Pho which featured seafood as a main ingredient. Pho Thap Cam (#100) is filled with shrimp, snow crab, roast pork and wontons in a delicious broth. This is my idea of heaven in a bowl! Speaking of bowls, if it's your first Pho experience, don't be alarmed by the enormous steaming bowl of hot soup that will be set down in front of you -- it goes down easy! And with it comes that delightful plate piled high with fresh herbs and bean sprouts, jalapenos, and lime wedges you can use to add additional flavor and crunch to your soup. This time I ordered my Pho with rice noodles, but egg noodles are also available. I should also mention that my meal started with two crispy fried spring rolls -- the best I've had just about anywhere. YUMMO! I'm not sure whether I should be glad or sad that I don't live closer to this Vietnamese wonder! Service is quick and efficient, prices are reasonable, portion sizes are generous, there's plenty of parking in the back (where the entrance is, btw), and the extensive menu promises lots of room to explore this cuisine. I wish there were half stars, because I would give Pho Vinh a 3.5. What I really love about this restaurant is its location, pretty interior decoration, and general atmosphere. A lot of vietnamese restaurants I go to tend to be a bit bleak inside, but this is one is quite pretty. There's shady trees out front which makes it feel secluded and comfortable. Their pho however, doesn't really impress me. It's a bit of personal taste maybe, but the cuts of meat they use in their pho are really fatty. I always get beef or combination pho, which seems to have more fat than meat. The pho ga (chicken) is also dark meat. The fat from the meat definitely add amazing flavors to the broth, but it isn't pleasing to chew on more fat than meat (at least my personal preference). There also aren't many noodles in the pho which is a bit disappointing. The prices are a bit higher than you'd expect from a typical vietnamese restaurant, with smaller portion sizes, but I suppose there's some trade off for the pretty setting. It's definitely a nice place, but not somewhere I'd venture out for some pho. read more

I called them first to see if they could accommodate allergies, and told them I can't have gluten. I was told it's not a problem and they have things I can eat. I ordered their beef pho and it was delicious! It was also incredibly filling, they're not stingy with the toppings. She told me that pretty much all of their beef based or chicken based broth Pho soups are safe to eat. They also offered summer roll, which I got with a side of fish sauce instead of peanut sauce since the sauce was not OK. I was worried about the pork which had a red color on the outsider but had no reaction. If you are worried, I would recommend asking for only shrimp inside without the pork. I usually never give a one star I always find the best thing out of every situation but this place surely pissed me off. Before you read my review let me give you my background... I have tried almost all Vietnamese places check my other reviews.. Lived with a Vietnamese family for a few years and base my reviews as a group with my Vietnamese friends who come from out of town from areas of great Vietnamese food like new york and California.. The place at first looked cool, beautiful use of their lot by planting fruit trees never seen anything like it before there is papaya trees everywhere. The decor was very nice big spacious with beautiful pictures on the walls.. Now here is the bad... Prices where ok, not saving much. The food was terrible terrible terrible the fried rolls where cold and tasted funny not the good funny (I can't prove it but we both had stomach aches an hour later with Nausea) the cold rice paper rolls where chewy and flavorless.. The peanut sauce saved it... My Vietnamese girl friend ordered pho and I did too... It was missing something and tasted bland I put maybe 5 large squirts of hoisin sauce just to eat some of it... We told the server about our food and he didn't even bat an eye... He didn't even try to replace the rolls he just took the fully uneaten rolls.. It also took 20 mins or more to even get the food... I usually order Com Suong Nuong at every Vietnamese restaurant I go to (just because I simply love this dish), and so I can confidently say that the Com Suong Nuong at this restaurant is delicious in every aspect. Though they didn't seem to use broken rice, the rice in the dish was still soft and yummy especially soaked in the light fish sauce. The pork was not dry and was juicy and tender. Yum yummy. I would definitely recommend this dish to those who are clueless as to what to order! The service was also good! Our waiter was nice and always checked up on us every 15 mins or so. I always go to another pho joint in Orlando, but my friend really wanted me to try Pho Vinh out. I'm glad that I did! The restaurant was pretty clean. However, the menu didn't really impress me with stains on it. Eh oh well. I ordered my usual... pho tai. The pho tai wasn't bad at all. The broth was pretty clear compared to other pho places in Orlando. My friend explained to me that it meant it didn't have a lot of crap that other places use. The veggies that were set out for us were very fresh compared to other pho restaurants. Also, the meat tasted a lot better than the other restaurants. I was skeptical about trying Vietnamese food in Orlando since I've lived in California and Hawaii, but Pho Vinh did not disappoint. Service was quick and friendly, and the server graciously split the bill for our party. The pho broth was quite nice, which is the most important part of soup to me. It was subtle and savory without being bland or overpowering.
