I was recommended by my mom who knows George who's in San Antonio , but he let me know his guy would take care of whatever, I only told him about the sensor I needed an he let them know I was coming because my engine light had come on an my car was shutting off. I go an the guy gets the tool an checks it an says it may just be your map sensor out but I will turnoff the sensor an if it comes back on just come back and we will know exactly what it is ! So I leave of course it comes back on the next day so I'm like okay I will go back tomorrow, I end up getting into a fender bender prior to going the previous day an my undercarriage was damaged. I go back an let them know, he quotes me for just about $900-1000. $400 an something for the part an the other half labor etc. I'm like shit but I knew I needed to do it because my undercarriage was literally dragging. I leave my car with them, they drive me home & everything, great service. So now couple days go by, they finish the job, mind you I thought he would of added that sensor situation with this one an give me a total but instead he just skipped that and only did the undercarriage, Super appreciative because he even meet me when they closed early at the shop so I could get my keys before the holiday. I decide to just wait until I got paid again to do the little sensor on Friday. I go Friday and he quotes me $1849 saying it's no longer the sensor which he quoted prior was just $130, I need a new timing chain etc. I said WHAT?!? Nothing has changed how do I need all that all of a sudden, mind you my car is only 4 an half years old. Swore he was giving me a discount an to just let him know what I wanted to do I'm freaking out like what the hell, I don't have that kind of money blah blah! I left an went to Firestone the next day , which is where I went originally for the sensor but I didn't want to pay 400 at the time. They fix the sensor with the same price of $400 and I asked like was there anything else going on with my car , the guy stated everything was great, and my car was running fine ! Pissed ! I felt like he just got over on me, an wanted to see how much more money he could get out of me! An there's no telling if that was the actual price for the undercarriage situation smh ! read more

I brought my 2006 Toyota Highlander in to have the timing belt changed and the rear brakes worked on in May 2021. It cost over me over $2000 and they completed the work in one day. Just after I got home with the car the engine light came on. The next day I brought the car back and asked if they could look at. After about 30-40 minutes one of the mechanics came inside the office and told me it was an O2 sensor light and it would cost around $300-$350 to fix. I told him that this only happened after they did all of that work on it! I decided to think it over. Just as I was pulling out of the parking lot the engine light turned off. Now, I wonder whether they simply had not reconnected everything correctly after the work was done the first time- I don't know. My second problem is that ever since they did the initial work on my car the radio makes a high pitched whine along with the engine. I called the shop yesterday and the guy said to bring it in between 8-8:30 in the morning. So, I got there around 8:20am and sat for about 2 hours. Nobody came in to update me after all that time so I asked the receptionist to check with them for me. The mechanic came in and said it sounded like there was a bad ground somewhere in the car and that he would have to keep looking for it and if I left now they would have to charge me the next time I brought it back! To fix a problem that only appeared after they had worked on it! I won't be going back to Phoenix Automotive. I've made an appt. with another mechanic in Jonestown. read more

Called Phoenix this morning for a price to change oil on a 2016 ram.. Made a point to tell him it has the hemi engine and I want synthetic oil. $79 which is $14 more than I pay in Cedar Park, but not the drive. Job completed in good time. $102. The cashier explained that it took two extra quarts of oil. I explained that I gave the person I called the information making the point that it was a hemi and that I would not have came for $102. Well so what? I said I won't be back. He said I can give you a 10% discount. Still $92. Then I see the sign that 3.5% will be added to credit card purchases. Never have seen this in an auto repair business. Sometime it is worth the drive. read more

I have been using George's shop for my automotive repair and maintenance needs for a long time. He has always done a high quality job at a reasonable price. He stands behind his work. An example is that I had some repair work done on one of my vehicles last year and due to circumstances beyond my control, I was unable to to return the car until recently because the oil leak had not been repaired. Well, I talked with George's mechanic, Russell and he said he would take a look at it. He told me that the repair work had been improperly done by a mechanic who was no longer employed because of his poor skills. He took charge and said he would immediately begin to correct the issue and made arrangements to give me a ride home. Parts were ordered and the repair was completed in an expeditious manner. I picked up my car the next day and received a very sincere apology from George. There was no hesitation on their part to look at the problem or to repair it correctly, all at no charge of course. It's a good feeling to know that George and his crew are there for me and produce quality work at very reasonable prices within a very quick timeframe. Never telling the whole story, or tell untrue accounts . Russel appears to be fluffing times and over-charging. That's crooked after the conversation we had. I talked to Russel on the phone asking for a price to press new bearings into my hubs. He told me he couldn't quote, that he'd just have to charge the time it took. Ok, I took a couple hubs in, and was billed 1.6 hours for what I didn't think could be more than 30 minutes. I did this work as a young guy, I just don't have a press. So I questioned the mechanic, and the mechanic tells me that it took him an hour. So despite being told I would be charged the time it took, I was billed a trumped up number. Total BS. read more

I had recently had a torque converter issue on a different car that was likely from lack of preventive maintenance (bought it at 140k miles). My truck experienced a flat and was in need of flat repair. I was not impressed with the mediocre service. The technician was not friendly and seemed bothered that I mentioned that the special key for the lugs was in my glove box. The technicians seemed baffled on how to remount my spare. For a common repair it seemed slightly challenging for this shop that advertises tire repair. This is an opportunity for improvement. read more

I brought in a Mercruiser driveshaft for u joint replacement. I was quoted $115.00 labor charge. Russell, the manager, told me, they have done several. The technician did not notice they were the wrong u joints and installed them anyway. The manager doubled the labor charge because his incompetent mechanic took 4 hours. I'm out $220.00 and have to remove the u joints they installed. Now I can't return the u joints, so I'm out another $74.00. I should have learned my lesson, as about a year ago, I brought in my Jeep Cherokee for AC service. They charged $750.00 to recharge the system and told me the compressor was bad. Come to these guys if you like getting screwed. read more

Being a female I am always skeptical and I was greeted very courteously and respectfully, everything was explained to me clearly and precisely, and I happen to know a little about cars so I knew that I was being told the truth. Before I started this review I read some of the ones on here and I came across a review by a young lady who seemed like her review had more to do with hurting the business itself rather than just giving a review. This is a follow up for the previous review on a car broken down and towed. I was the one physically dealing with the situation. My car broke down and I was stranded for 4 hours with my two young children in the car, ages 1 and 4. I have used pheonix many times, most recently when I had a tire blow out a couple months ago. George helped me then, and he was amazing. Very caring and compassionate, the first thing he said to me was "I'm so glad you're okay." We called pheonix this time because THAT is the unparalleled service that George has always given! Compassion first! I had my car towed to pheonix, paid the tow charge, and then the minute the tow truck dropped my car the manager started riddling off the fees. At this point I had been in the heat with my kids for 5 hours, we were all dehydrated and absolutely exhausted and then the manager starts to tell me about all of the fees for even looking at my vehicle. Now don't get me wrong, I'm not looking for a handout but if someone is going to pay to have their vehicle towed to your shop, you should dislose diagnostic fees BEFOREHAND. I have used many other shops, for example austin automotive specialists who charges $50 for a diagnostic. I don't even mind paying the fee when it is disclosed, but the problem I have is the deception that we experienced. Total disregard for us as people and the situation we were going through, the manager was just looking to get a high ticket commission job, and then I am supposed to trust them with my vehicle? I called my brother to come help me and while we worked hard to get the vehicle off the property as to not incur a daily $20 holding fee, the manager rushed us gave us a time limit otherwise they were going to close my car into the gated shop area. The sad thing is if he had just been up front and honest with me he would have gotten work from my car and made a profit, instead he lost everything. George does a great job and so does the man who always services my tires, not sure of his name but he has long black hair, but unfortunately the manager is the face of the business right now and he just doesn't care about people at all. The manager's actions were unethical and deceptive and it reflects so poorly on what used to be a business I thought I could trust. Hope george gets back in there and sets the record straight. read more

So our car breaks down while we are at the store in marble falls. It happens to be Monday where nobody immediately in the area is open so we call the local shop closer to home which happens to be Phoenix Automotive. I detail to the self proclaimed manager named Russel or something similar that our car doesn't want to start and just wondering if they could take a look at it to give us an idea of what's wrong. Not our first time using Phoenix and in the past George took real good care of us. The manager tells us to bring it in and he'll take a look (no mention of charge.) We wait for the tow truck to make it out to us to tow it over to Phoenix and a few hours later we make it in. To our surprise the manager then begins to detail a list of fees for him to even attempt to look at the car.. starting with a $115 diagnostic charge. He then states that every hour after the first hour it takes the technicians to figure out the issue we would be charged an additional $50~ something dollars, interesting! So if the technicians are working slow or just inept, we get to pay for their incompetence. We pleaded that we are regulars and George had helped us with issues in the past but his response is nothing short of 'George was wrong for doing that & we won't be doing that anymore.' Obviously as all this information now comes to light we are no longer interested but our car has already been towed here, requiring us to either pay their prices or pay for another tow! Stuck between a rock and a hard place trusting a company that has apparently turned their back on customer service. It's worth noting he was completely rude throughout the entire process including rushing us off the lot when obviously we are required to wait for another tow. Quite a character this guy when people are already experiencing a rough patch his solution is to kick them while they're down! Stay away from Phoenix until they get their shit together. Terrible experience, do not visit! A complaint to the better business bureau will be following this yelp review. Such a shame that place went downhill with this guy at the helm! read more
