I have always had a good experience with them and I would recommend them. They have never tried to sell me anything my SUV did not need. Infrequently, I needed to take my SUV to the dealer for the extended warranty, and they always came up with over $1k of stuff the car must have immediately before even inspecting it. I am writing a very positive review for Lansdale Automotive in Georgetown Texas. I took my 2003 Ford F 150 for a startup problem. They kept my truck for a few days, connected it to test equipment, had their mechanic check it out, and tried a couple of times every day to duplicate the problem. It started up every time. They decided that it was just a onetime issue, made notes of what they did and what they might replace if it ever happened again. They told me that just throwing money into replacing working parts was just not right. The bottom line is there was no charge for any of that service! Yup free!! It's no fun when your car decides to quit working on the side of I-35 on a Sunday. My fuel pump decided to bid adieu. Typically, I take my car to the dealership but the tow was farther away. Upon the recommendation of my neighbor, who swooped me up on the side of the freeway, I had it towed to Lansdale. Lansdale called me on Monday morning to tell me the damage; both physical and monetary and proceeded to get me back on the road by the early afternoon. Knock on wood... everything seems to be working well. Nice guys to deal with and close to home. Their pricing also seemed to be within an acceptable range for that type of work although it still gave me heartburn. Extra special thanks for coming to pick me up at my house to bring me to my car. New to the area and looking for a shop with honest and fair-priced service. I've taken our cars there on several occasions over the past several months and have found these guys to meet those criteria. On one occasion, they could've very easily told me my transmission needed a rebuild but instead suggested treating the high-gear, low speed stutter with a transmission additive of some kind. So far, that's working - and I still have the better part of $2,500 in my pocket. read more

Could have been much better. Serviced my SUV on two separate occasions, the first time OK and second time not OK. There were communication issues about what work was authorized on the second visit and I thought the situation could have been handled with more of a customer service orientation. I always expect a few issues with car repair but also expect they will be worked out fairly and with clear and courteous communication. I discovered Lansdale Automotive recently as I was new to the area. I had a flat tire as a result of a nail that wouldn't hold air very long. I called around to a few places and Lansdale offered quick turnaround. When I arrived the gentlemen behind the counter were professional, courteous, and personable as were the repair technicians. They performed the tire repair (patch), did a great job at a fair price, and got me in and out quickly on a busy Tuesday afternoon. Highly recommended. read more

The shop replaced an alternator on one of my cars. Several days later the car wouldn't start and left me stranded. They towed the car in at their expense, said it was due to some work that had occurred during the alternator repair, and I picked it up again. After the tow, my car had some fresh scratches and the gas mileage had dropped to about half of its usual gas mileage. I called the shop and they said there was nothing that they could have done that would have caused the gas mileage drop, and suggested that someone had sabotaged the car. I gave up on them and took the car to another shop. The other shop diagnosed the cause as the rear bearing (by the fresh scratches after the tow) causing drag as the cause and was surprised that it wasn't noticed by Lansdale. After the other shop's repair, the gas mileage returned. read more

I spoke to Dave on the phone about needing a new AC compressor (at least twice), and I told him it had already been diagnosed by the shop that had replaced the alternator. Since I moved closer to Georgetown, I wanted to find a local shop (and not go to a dealership). Dave said he could not give me a price on the work until they inspected the car -- which was no big deal because they didn't charge to do this. When I dropped the car off, Dave was at lunch and Alan, the owner, wrote up my ticket. He called me the afternoon I dropped it off to ask permission to look more closely at possible electrical issues (supposedly did more "diagnostic" work), because he thought there might be a short somewhere that affected how the compressor worked -- and assuming he was the expert and that there would not be a charge for this "inspection", I said okay. He called back and said I needed a new AC compressor along with back shocks and an oil pressure sender. And they wanted $2500 to do this work. And if I chose not to fix it, they were going to charge me $267 for diagnostic work, because he said, "we have to pay our people".... Really? When I told him Dave said inspecting for the problem was done at no charge, he said, "I'm the owner" -- and Dave acted like he didn't remember our conversations. Interesting. I found another shop that would do the exact work proposed by Lansdale for $1900 with a 3 year, 36,000 mile warranty. I don't think the shop is necessarily "bad" -- for those who live in Georgetown and are lucky enough to get a good deal there. I just want to say "buyer beware" -- because I did end up paying $139 to get my keys back (owner said he "knocked off another hour for me"... the owner said to be sure to tell the place I got it fixed that they "removed a blown fuse and didn't replace it" (nor did they give it back to me). The wires were not put back in the car correctly... and the new mechanic found the oil tank pretty much empty. I left with my keys and a receipt and NO written diagnostic report (from maybe a scanning tool). Interesting experience for sure. I'm not bashing this company, but I definitely learned a lesson with this one. Get everything in writing! If they say that they diagnose a problem at no charge, get it in writing. If they ask permission to do anything else, get details and pricing in writing. Ask for pictures of whatever they said they found. And ask for pictures before they close up your car to give it back to you (before and after pictures). It could have been a better experience for sure. read more

They should not have a sign that says "official vehicle inspection station" if they refuse to do it. Maybe I should complain to the state. read more

Bryan, at Landsdale automotive was able to perform a miracle on my car, simply put. I live out of state; had motor issues w/ reduced power while in Georgetown. This 2012 Mini had this same situation continuously, with only the computer reset to stop the error on readout of car. No one, NO ONE has been able to remedy this, not dealerships, no one! Bryan researched the error readout and found that there was a part, under warranty, which needed to be replaced. Thankfully, the Mini dealership in Austin was given this information, meticulously written out by Bryan, for a complete repair. The people at Landsdale are friendly and go out of their way to help their customers. Bryan even drove us back to our friend's home while the car was being worked on. Almost all the folks that walked in, while we were getting an oil change, had a rapport with the project managers at the counter. We respectfully disagree with other reviewers and say we did not have such a great experience with Lansdale. We were mostly disappointed with pricing and with what FELT like a possible attempt to oversell. We will also admit this was an unusual time for us, as we weren't as proactive or involved in seeking service as usual. My husband is skeptical about dealerships and has very limited time for car maintenance because of work, so I did my research and trusted the reviews. This was a mistake. On top of that, my husband was coming down with flu, and our decision making wasn't as sharp as usual. Let's start with PROS: Though I initially felt a bit rushed on the phone as I tried to explain problems and ask questions, he was mostly professional and helpful during the call, and even more so in the front office. I'm sure it's annoying to listen to someone like me who knows nothing about auto service, so I confessed my ignorance and said I thought my husband's CRV needed A) brakes and B) possibly a belt replaced. The gentleman I spoke to explained they don't stock parts for every problem and vehicle, so I needed to plan on leaving the CRV there. I understood, and when I replied I wouldn't have a ride home, I was VERY grateful and impressed to hear him say, "No problem. We can give you a ride home." And they did! (I made this call on a Wednesday afternoon, so we agreed I would drop the vehicle off Thursday afternoon.) When I arrived Thursday afternoon as planned and was again asked about symptoms, I did my best to describe sounds the vehicle was making and explain performance problems like the "dull" brakes and the "squealing belt." I admitted I didn't know what was wrong , but that we wanted the vehicle looked over and diagnosed. As promised, I was then graciously transported the short distance home in the cold, drizzling rain with my 10 bags of groceries! We did not receive any further contact Thursday afternoon or evening. Friday morning was unusual in that my husband was home sick with flu, so he was able to hear the phone call from Lansdale when we were told A) we did in fact need brakes, and I THOUGHT he said they'd already been replaced at that point (yet no price yet quoted), B) we needed a serpentine belt replaced, C) a transmission flush, D) new spark plugs, E) the battery replaced and F) an oil change. My husband spoke up and said "the battery is less than a year old and shouldn't be reading 400 vs 800, and we have regular oil changes based on the computer, so skip those 2 services." Immediately we were told without those 2 services the total repairs would still be $1975. We didn't know if this was a fair price, but it seemed AWFULLY high. Yet with sharing 1 vehicle and a case of flu, we just agreed to all but the battery replacement and oil change. Had my husband not been ill, he would have said we'd pick up the car and shop around because he was uncomfortable with 1) the very high price, 2) an auto tech not using the vehicle's computer vs the sticker for determining when to change the oil and 3) being told the battery needed replacement when in fact, the battery test was done improperly and a battery was not needed. Because of difficult circumstances and poor judgment, we unwisely gave the "ok" to make all the other repairs. (Later research did indicate overpriced services.) Shortly before 5:00 Friday evening we received a call the car was ready to be picked up, so I dropped my husband off to pay for and retrieve the car. A different gentleman reviewed the invoice, and he acknowledged they'd used an incorrect calibration system to determine the battery was going out. I believe he removed the diagnostic charge for it. CONS Our math and the invoice showing $915 for labor equates to about $150/hour, and because this seemed high to us we made phone calls on Saturday. We found auto repair in Austin runs about $85-150/hour, so this does make Lansdale on the high end, unlike other reviewers stated. Sadly, this experience left us with buyers' remorse and mistrust. We're not taking issue with service at this time; we just feel the pricing structure wasn't as fair as some reviewers made it sound, and we felt something wasn't quite "right" or transparent. In the future we won't allow illness or time pressure to lead us into making a hasty decision, and I won't be as trusting of online reviews. We don't want others as naive as us to have a similar experience! read more

I moved from California to Florida in early 2008. We shipped most of our belongings, but decided to make a road trip across the country in our car. We stopped in Texas to visit some family we have in Austin. However, right around Georgetown, the car started to overheat. We pulled off onto Williams Drive and stopped at one of the mechanics we found on Google, which was Lansdale Automotive. We got really lucky. I talked with the owner, who was very friendly. I explained our situation, and how it would be very inconvenient to leave our car there for any length of time. He said this was no problem, and he'd take care of us. After about an hour, he said it was fixed! What a nice guy. I couldn't be more happy with our experience. I don't live in TX, so I doubt I'll ever be going back. But if you need your car fixed, I hope you take it there! read more

This review starts off talking about another auto shop, but read on and you will see why I am reviewing Lansdale... My husband recently took our mini-van to Lamb's auto to check if brakes were needed since they were making some noise. Was told didn't need brakes which made us happy, but then told we would need struts, said ours were leaking and this was actually a much more costly repair than changing brake pads-they quoted $1,100. So, I asked my husband to call other shops to get quotes. Another shop quoted under $1,000 and then I asked him to call one more. Luckily it was Lansdale because they asked us to bring it in for a free quote (the other shop he called quoted on the phone). Turns out that we do NOT need new struts (nor brakes), in fact Dave or Davie? at Lansdale showed me how all the struts were dry-def no leaking. He asked why we thought we needed new struts and I explained. So, we won't be returning to Lambs. And we live really close by, so we will be giving our future business to Lansdale. Dishonesty is the worst. I suggest asking the mechanic to show you what the problem is if they are gonna suggest work. Dave/Davie at Lansdale offered to do that without me asking. Also, he was very pleasant and friendly, made a joke about me moving to the area from NYC (New York City! -Pace Picante commercial) haha, made me laugh/smile. My parents live in Sun City and this has been their go to mechanic. My Dad passed away recently and I was blown away by the extra care they gave my Mom when she brought her car in. These guys truly care about their customers and their actions speak volumes. I wanted to give them my business before I left town so I brought my car in for an oil change and question about my alignment. They quickly diagnosed that my tires needed to be balanced and I was out the door for a very reasonable price. Not once did I feel they were trying to sell me anything I didn't need. I normally don't write reviews honestly but I go off of them every time we go somewhere to purchase or pay for some work to be done. This place always gives me peace because I know they are trustworthy in their service they provide. It reminds me of a place my dad would have loved to have worked. Just good honest work that you can trust. They will let you know if the car is worth the money it will take to fix it up or not even though they have spent the time on the car researching the problems. They always give a good price as well. I wish I could give 0 stars based on the conversation I just had with these people. I have never experienced someone being that rude in my life. The a/c compressor in my car went out and a new one is $300-$500, totally unaffordable. I found one with a year warranty for under $100. Now all I needed was a mechanic to help me install it. Based on the reviews I was hoping this would be a good trustworthy place... WRONG! When I explained my situation to the man he snapped back at me saying and I quote "that's like trying to take your own eggs to the Waffle House and ask them to cook it for you". So instead of helping a customer who can't afford your overpriced parts and tries to find an alternative, you decide it's ok to make snide remarks and talk down to them? How about offering some suggestions on how to go about getting it installed instead of condescending remarks. Completely unprofessional. Horrible attitude. Found them on Google based off their great reviews. I'm all about supporting local businessess. Came in for an oil change and since I came in early in the morning, they were done with my car in 25 minutes. Service was prompt and very friendly. They take pride in their business. As I was waiting, an older gentleman came in to find out information about getting his car checked out. The gentleman behind the desk was courteous and gave timeline information then proposed the older customer leave his vehicle at the shop to get it checked out. The customer asked, "Who will take me home?" and the gentleman behind the counter within a heartbeat said, "I will drive you." The customer seemed happy enough and said he'd come in another day for the service. I was impressed. I think other automotive shops like chains would have just recommended having a friend or family member give the customer a ride while the car got serviced. All in all, I'll be coming back here for future services. I think it's neat that they have a well-maintained website too. read more
