Recently, I was driving through the area and thought I stop for a quick bite. I didn't feel like fast food so I thought I'd check this restaurant out - so glad I did. Granted, upon entering this restaurant, the decor did remind me of many suburban restaurant chains, however, it didn't bother me. To me, the food and service what is important. I was greeted right away by the owner (I believe) and seated right away. The server had greeted me and went over the menu and the nightly specials. Within a few minutes, the server took my order, Hot Turkey Open Face Sandwich and a bowl of the Egg Lemon Rice soup. The soup came within a couple of minutes. The soup was nice and creamy. The soup was just delicious. I would HIGHLY recommend this. As the owner was seating another guest, I had complimented her on how great the soup is. Few minutes later the meal was delivered to me. The sandwich was just as good. Yes, I wish the potatoes were real instead of instant but it didn't ruin my meal. The portions were very good size. Like another reviewer stated.... You gotta love the Greeks! Yes, the server did check in with me throughout the meal while he was taking care of the other customers. I had decided to take a slice of the cherry pie with me back to the hotel. The slice was a decent size and very good. As I was paying, the owner gave me another cup of soup to go. That is GREAT Customer service. I was really surprised. That is one of the reasons why I would highly recommend this restaurant and I will defiantly return when I pass through Kenosha. Enjoy!

At first glance I wondered why friends had raved about this place for breakfast or lunch. The decor is straight out of the late 70's or early 80's, looks like it may have been a Perkins back in the day and whoever bought it made no changes to the decor, but I felt like there is a certain charm to it. Our waitress was friendly, attentive, and we never had to wait or ask for refills on soda, water, or coffee. The menu is large, almost too large because there are too many choices, it has been my experience that when you try to do so many dishes, you can't do them well. I wanted breakfast so I went with a fried egg sandwich, something I hadn't had in years, and it was perfect! Egg cooked just right with bacon added and some cheese sprinkled on for good measure. My friend had a classic club sandwich and it was also quite yummy, according to her description. We both had fries which were hot and tasty. Lots of food and very reasonably priced, I would definitely stop here again next time I'm in town and would definitely recommend.

Turkey club was really good !

While the interior is noteworthy for it's 1980's horrorbelia decor, the food and staff were excellent this morning. Terrific omelette, hash browns, and bacon. The vegetable soup was great, and my husband's Turkey club was "spot on, even the pickle was just right". Very good experience. Not too crowded, with fast service. Thumbs up

I cannot picture this restaurant remaining open in 10-15 years as most of its guests that enjoy the establishment are quite old; I believe the less than modern decor makes them feel welcomed though it is off-putting for those who search for an updated restaurant to dine at. The food was reasonably priced but not very good. I ordered an omelette and coffee, after waiting what seemed like an awful long time as the place only had a few people, the food wasn't as good as I had hoped. The biggest complaint would be that the silverware came out dirty. I am sure it doesn't happen to everyone and I hope it is a very rare occasion but it lost my appetite.

    Banana Split Crepes

I was searching Yelp as we traveled through Kenosha and found this hidden gem. The staff is awesome. Kept our coffee hot and checking to make sure we had everything we needed. I order banana split crepes. Delicious. But man it was more than I could eat. Stop by if you are in the area! Just remember the portions are huge!

There is a Costco in New Berlin that is a smig closer to my home, but they don't have a Cheddars near them. The food is always fresh and so good. The service is fantastic every time I go. Today we started off with the complimentary croissants. My husband had the 6oz sirloin smothered in mushrooms and onions, a side salad and fries. I had the lemon pepper whitefish over rice, mashed potatoes with cheese and bacon and cut off the cob corn. It was absolutely delicious. I have had the ribs, several, several, and several times. Sometimes I will stop after Costco and get them for dinner. I get a whole rack and extra sides and it is dinner for the both of us. The ribs are so good here. Other great things that I have had are the chicken sandwich, the chicken pot pie, monte cristo, steak, philly cheesesteak, chicken alfredo, bourbon glazed salmon with shrimp, grilled shrimp alfredo, ribs and steak combo, and burgers of all kinds. Everything was so fresh and so good.

We ordered several appetizers, and they were all pretty mid. The buffalo shrimp was not cooked all the way through. The batter was still wet. The trio was not served hot. We all ordered our steaks medium well, but every single one came out well done. The main reason I came was for the Monte Cristo, and they had run out, which was extremely disappointing. The only positives were that my nephew enjoyed his burger, and my brother and sister enjoyed their drinks. Other than that, the entire visit was disappointing and a waste of money. Between finding a hair in the food, undercooked appetizers, overcooked steaks, and the restaurant being out of the one item I came for, I do not see myself coming back.

The food was average, but the service was cold and disrespectful. Even the woman who brought us the food had a terrible attitude. We were one of 5 tables in the entire place and stood in entrance for 5 minutes waiting for someone to seat us. We got seated and atmosphere is seemed great. Nicely decorated, comfortable booths, but something was off with the vibe. Not sure what but the staff we saw just didn't seem like they wanted to be there. It took forever for server to greet us and was not very warm or welcoming. Explained it was our first time here and response was nothing...except did we want to order drinks. Took forever to receive drinks then we ordered an appetizer of speciality dish wildfire shrimp just ok, tiny deep fried spicy shrimp with side of ranch. Just ok, had definite kick to it, if you like spicy. We placed our food order and again food took forever to come out. Salads were fresh. Bread was good. Filet which was supposed to be 6 ounces but seemed very thin, cooked more medium than medium well. NY strip steak was very thin too but cooked to order medium. Steaks had overpowering amount of seasoning on them. Baked potatoes were lukewarm at best and even though ordered loaded very little sour cream or butter. I would have asked for more but server never came back to check on us in timely manner. Had to use the butter that came with the bread but barely warm potato is unappetizing. It took forever to get our check too - no apology nothing. For the price $30-40 per person, there are MUCH better choices across the border in Illinois. Overall, drinks and bread are decent, I'd recommend driving another 20-30 minutes south and check out the steakhouses in Gurnee, Illinois, skip this location as service was slow and food was not great and served lukewarm. Meh.

Unfortunately, that is not usually the case with service at El Camino. My husband and I had not gone back in a couple of years after they opened because of consistently bad and rude service. Their food was fine but even the best food isn't good paired with a bad overall experience. We decided to give them another try a few months ago and even though the service was a little better- it wasn't worth keeping them on our weekly rotation. My husband, daughter and I had gone there for dinner on Tuesday and as I said had a wonderful server. Both my daughter and I have had their steak tacos (filet and skirt), even though the flavor was fine, they leave the pieces SO LARGE that you chew forever on a bite of taco. This is not to mention that the tortilla does not hold up well to bites into these large clunky pieces. Because of this, I started ordering the Barbacoa tacos since that is shredded beef. However, my daughter doesn't like Barbacoa so she requested the cooks cut the meat smaller. The food came out and the pieces of steak were as big as ever. When I say that this could be a choking hazard for the best of eaters (let's forget about seniors, children, or people that may have dental issues) I mean these pieces are nearly the size of dice. We asked for a steak knife so that my daughter could finish prepping her own food (though she is not an employee of El Camino, apparently those who get paid to cook there, don't have to accommodate special requests of using their chef knives to cut steak before putting in tacos. As I watched her spend about 10 minutes deconstructing 2 of her 3 tacos and cutting up the meat and putting them back together (as it was getting cold), I asked for a manager. Nick came over to our table with a strange attitude. I said "Are you the manager?", as he did not introduce himself...at all!, he said "yes". I started by explaining that we asked for the meat to be cut smaller. He then starts to get defensive and argumentative saying how "everyone loves that dish", "everyone orders that dish", "There are NEVER any complaints about that dish". I had to interrupt him to explain that we were NOT complaining about the dish but the prep of the meat. He then says "Maybe that dish isn't for you". I said "So NONE of the steak taco dishes are for us because not only our request for safe size pieces was not accomodated but you are telling me that we take it or leave it???" He continued to talk over me and arguing until my daughter (who is very quiet and laid back) got mad and started explaining to him that he shouldn't be talking to his customers that way. Her and her husband order to go often and she explained that at home, she deconstructs her tacos, takes kitchen shears to cut the meat and then has to put them in the microwave to warm them up. Just because people don't complain doesn't mean they aren't unhappy about it. Instead of Nick listening and understanding what we were trying to do, he continued to talk over my daughter, and then snaps at her with "I'LL JUST TAKE IT OFF!". That set my daughter off. None of us needed nor wanted a free meal. We didn't ask for it, nor want it. We told him that. He finally asked what we wanted. I said that all I wanted was to share a suggestion of not only talking to his kitchen staff about accommodating COMPLETELY REASONABLE REQUESTS but to share with the other management our suggestion. That's it. We told him several times that we weren't complaining about the flavor, just the prep and that everything else was fine including the excellent service and that he, NICK, and NICK ALONE has ruined it for us. By the way- the ONLY way I knew his name is that I had to ASK HIM for it... We will NOT be back nor will my daughter and her husband order take out anymore. The food is fine but definitely not worth the complete disregard and disrespect of their customers! There are SO MANY better places that appreciate our business! Nick was on the right track- maybe EL CAMINO is not right for us....or anyone else.
