Classic Greek Diner with a massive menu. Anything from stirfry including dinner roll & Jell-O or pudding, meatloaf , burger and fries, an extensive breakfast selection, Greek dinner menu, to a wide dessert section. The waitress deserves five stars .She was very friendly and professional. And she made awesome bloody Mary's from scratch! The food portions were large, but in general, we're lacking in flavor and quality. Sadly, a portion of it went to waste. Our breakfast skillets were large but not very flavorful. The eggs Benedict color looked a little unnatural and fell flat for my wife. The burger and fries nor soup didn't appease our friend.. If you're looking for a classic Greek diner with an extensive menu, more quantity over quality, not overcrowded and difficult to park as some more popular lake Geneva and Kenosha restaurants are, this might be your place. After a hard day of work, I dropped in and I regretted it. The service was fair, but the food was definitely not that great. It is probably one of the worst Greek Diners I have ever been to. Frozen Gyro meat for sure! Forget me Usually, Greek Diners are great. I played it safe with a salad and had some soup that was horrible. I don't know how they have lasted this long. Recently, I was driving through the area and thought I stop for a quick bite. I didn't feel like fast food so I thought I'd check this restaurant out - so glad I did. Granted, upon entering this restaurant, the decor did remind me of many suburban restaurant chains, however, it didn't bother me. To me, the food and service what is important. I was greeted right away by the owner (I believe) and seated right away. The server had greeted me and went over the menu and the nightly specials. Within a few minutes, the server took my order, Hot Turkey Open Face Sandwich and a bowl of the Egg Lemon Rice soup. The soup came within a couple of minutes. The soup was nice and creamy. The soup was just delicious. I would HIGHLY recommend this. As the owner was seating another guest, I had complimented her on how great the soup is. Few minutes later the meal was delivered to me. The sandwich was just as good. Yes, I wish the potatoes were real instead of instant but it didn't ruin my meal. The portions were very good size. Like another reviewer stated.... You gotta love the Greeks! Yes, the server did check in with me throughout the meal while he was taking care of the other customers. I had decided to take a slice of the cherry pie with me back to the hotel. The slice was a decent size and very good. As I was paying, the owner gave me another cup of soup to go. That is GREAT Customer service. I was really surprised. That is one of the reasons why I would highly recommend this restaurant and I will defiantly return when I pass through Kenosha. At first glance I wondered why friends had raved about this place for breakfast or lunch. The decor is straight out of the late 70's or early 80's, looks like it may have been a Perkins back in the day and whoever bought it made no changes to the decor, but I felt like there is a certain charm to it. Our waitress was friendly, attentive, and we never had to wait or ask for refills on soda, water, or coffee. The menu is large, almost too large because there are too many choices, it has been my experience that when you try to do so many dishes, you can't do them well. I wanted breakfast so I went with a fried egg sandwich, something I hadn't had in years, and it was perfect! Egg cooked just right with bacon added and some cheese sprinkled on for good measure. My friend had a classic club sandwich and it was also quite yummy, according to her description. We both had fries which were hot and tasty. Lots of food and very reasonably priced, I would definitely stop here again next time I'm in town and would definitely recommend. read more

my husband and I went their on Sunday and the food was good I had gyros with chips and a cup of cream of chicken soup my husband had the gyros with fries and the same soup, the service was really good our waitress was very attentive and coming by the table frequently checking to see if we needed anything, nice atmosphere. the prices were decent. the place reminded me of the greek restaurants in Chicago where I grew up. the decor could use some updating but was clean. we will definitely be going back. read more

We came here on a whim looking for a place we could all eat since I am vegan. This place doesn't necessarily cater to vegans, but they have a huge menu that you can find something to modify to make vegan. I ordered a vegetarian skillet with no eggs and no cheese. It was so darn good I ate the whole thing! It was just hash browns with mushroom, onion, green pepper and broccoli. I also ordered the veggie soup which they confirmed had a tomato base broth. The decor is 80's style with big green booth seats and floral patterns. The restaurant was slow at the time, we came around 7:30pm on a Sat. I cannot picture this restaurant remaining open in 10-15 years as most of its guests that enjoy the establishment are quite old; I believe the less than modern decor makes them feel welcomed though it is off-putting for those who search for an updated restaurant to dine at. The food was reasonably priced but not very good. I ordered an omelette and coffee, after waiting what seemed like an awful long time as the place only had a few people, the food wasn't as good as I had hoped. I was searching Yelp as we traveled through Kenosha and found this hidden gem. The staff is awesome. Kept our coffee hot and checking to make sure we had everything we needed. This is a great sit down family style restaurant with a large menu offering breakfast, lunch and dinner options. They have daily specials to choose from that chef makes which will vary from stuffed peppers, to beef stew, pot roast some fresh fish choices. Daily home made soups to choose from that often come with most entrees. Breakfast is great here as well many crepes, waffles, omlettes skillets made to order. When in area we love to dine in or to order togo. The club sandwiches and gyro is always favorites we enjoy that come with fresh crispy fries and homemade soup of the day. Another place on weekend vacation that had a menu that was way too large. Of there are 8 pagers of menu I can guarantee that some of your food will be microwaved. I'm glad we ventured out, but I cannot say that Pheonix was anything other than ok. Food: it was good. There are huge portions, my 2 & 5 year old split the pancake and egg breakfast. My husband and I split a skillet. The kids loved theirs. We ordered the meat lovers skillet, it was super greasy, but that's probably to be expected. Something that turned me off is that they have prepackaged muffins and Danish in their bakery counter. Keep those out of view, or don't serve them. Advertising that you go to Costco to buy your baked goods doesn't give the customer a good feeling walking in. Price: high for what this place is. $13 fo r one breakfast skillet is crazy. Decor: dump some of your money into this place, then maybe the prices would be justified. But as of now, it looks like a 1980s chain restaurant inside. read more

I sat in the parking lot for 10 minutes waiting for food... and really no one could have called me!!! And even after messaging them just just said sorry it was Eat Streets mess up, which maybe true however what ever happened to customer service. I understand that this business was affected by the construction on Hwy 50, so we felt sympathetic and wanted to check it out and see why it's still in business living under the Brat Stop's shadow. We ordered one breakfast and one lunch meal. The eggs were overcooked, the hash browns seemed to have been cooked earlier and left in a warming tray, same with the bacon. The meatloaf lunch came with dried out chunks of meat that was loaded with solidifiers, the mashed potatoes were tasteless and felt like instant, same for the corn. Waitress was annoyed by refills, she sighed as she grabbed our glasses. When we mentioned food concerns, she basically said "oh well". Places like this deserve to go out of business as they cling to old customers and offend new ones. There is NO WAY we would ever come back here. I wish the owners and staff the best as they retire and/or work for better run restaurants. read more

Generally when I am stopping at the Phoenix, I am getting breakfast. They have a good selection of items to order and the food is good. During this past visit I ordered a Meatlover's Skillet with 3 over easy eggs and white toast. Our service in the mornings is always great. However, we always end up sitting next to or near the owner or manager who is usually sitting around in the dining room drinking coffee and watching tv or reading the paper. Kind of wish he would find somewhere else to hang out. We didn't have to wait long for our food, The Meatlover's Skillet has bacon, sausage, ham, hash browns and cheddar cheese. Smothered in your choice of egg. It's very good and I would recommend it for sure. The prices are ok, but may be a little on the high side. It was $10 for a skillet with toast. It's a good place to stop if you are passing though and need some home cooked food with good service, but I wouldn't make it a destination spot. read more

If I'm out by 94 this is a great break fast spot. Al the bk is good. Gyro and eggs is great. They will make you a gyro and fetta cheese omelet. Bacon and fetta omelet is also great. They never mess up the order when I get creative with the dish and never give me a hard time about it. The menu is big but some times I want to twist the menu. Staff is always great. Rather, The Phoenix is a solid family-run restaurant that dishes out better-than-average diner food at much-better-than-average prices. I love going to this restaurant, getting seated almost immediately (lines are generally reserved for Sunday mornings right when the local churches get out) and having coffee in my hands within less than a minute. The breakfasts are good (I have had many - I am a fan of the basics, but they do serve a nice eggs benedict) and I have never had to return anything to the kitchen due to improper preparation. Service is swift (avoid seats that are not in view of the register or the kitchen as I have been forgotten every once in a while) and servers are fun without being annoying. I came here with a friend who lives in the area and instantly liked it. First time I had their pancakes which were as good as I heard they were. Since then, I have been back a couple of more times and it's never disappointed. The service has always been great, friendly, prompt and food and prices good. It's conveniently located next to the highway but it's not a truck stop to me. Each time the place has been filled with families and kids, not truck drivers. This past weekend I had their lemon oregano chicken and it was delicious! Don't go hungry because it does take some time to cook but it's worth the wait. I will keep going back for more! read more
