We had a fantastic 1st time experience at The Mad Rooster in Kenosha! From the moment we walked in, everything exceeded our expectations. Even on a busy day (Saturday morning), the wait was only about 10 minutes, and the hostesses were incredibly friendly, welcoming, and helpful. Our server, Joey, was excellent! Polite, attentive, and impressively accurate with our entire table's order. With a party of five, that's no small feat! Every meal came out exactly as ordered, and the food was outstanding. Everything was cooked perfectly, seasoned just right, and absolutely delicious. The fresh fruit bowl was sweet and flavorful, our omelette portions were huge, the lemonade was refreshing, and the iced coffees were the perfect complement to brunch. What really stood out was the value. Feeding a group of five can add up quickly, but The Mad Rooster delivered high-quality food, great service, and generous portions at a very reasonable price. We know there's also a Milwaukee location, but we're crossing our fingers for a third location somewhere in Ozaukee or Sheboygan County someday. First time here this place was really nice. I wish I would've taken more pictures inside. Super cute and cozy. The staff is very friendly and welcoming. The atmosphere was perfect, nice and light. Plenty of sitting area whether is a table, a booth or a bench just different sections, which makes the entire restaurant more likable and interesting. The food was really tasty and fresh. I really dislike going to a co-workers going away lunch as they will certainly be missed. The only positive about attending is discovering a really good restaurant. Mad Rooster Cafe is a nice location that serves, Breakfast, brunch or lunch. They open 7am and close everyday at 3pm. We walked in around 11:45 am and requested seating for 7 and we were seated immediately. We received menus and water immediately. The server was really nice. There is so many different options to choose from and I was in the mood for French Toast and decided to order the Crisp-Crunchy Cinnamon. It is prepared with cornflakes and grilled with sliced banana topping with powdered sugar and a cinnamon sugar mix and whipped cream. It definitely was crispy and I tasted the cinnamon but wish it had some more but it was still good. Would I order it again, "yes" but I'd go and try other things first and rank. Before my food came, I went to wash my hands and on my way back I noticed they had a Cream of Poblano Pepper soup. I asked if there was meat in the soup and they said no. And offered a little sample. My book club & I met here for a meeting and the food & the service were great! When we arrived we were told there would be about a 15 minute wait. Unfortunately we ended up waiting over 45 minutes I think there was a mix up with another big group they seated not too sure. One ongoing frustration is the pricing. My son's lemonade was brought out as a large without asking, and it rang up at $6.50. It was filled with mushrooms, spinich, peppers, and broccoli. I had the Southern Benedict, a plate full of two biscuits, 2 sausage patties, and two poached eggs, smothered in a tasty gravy. We both had a side of fruit. The fruit was a combonation of watermelon, pineapple, grapes, blackberry, canteloupe, honeydew melon, strawberries, and an orange slice. It was all very fresh and ripened to perfection. While my wife had a soft drink, I opted for the Pineapple Coconut Margarita (also very tasty). You can easily expect to pay $130 - $150 for a family of four (including the tip) It's a lot to spend on a breakfast with the family, so be prepared to shell out a large amount of money for everyone to eat in the morning. The Mad Rooster is a great place to eat at... once in a while, but definitely not a regular place for breakfast like your corner diner. Their staff is amazing, and wonderfully efficient. As well as extremely pleasant, friendly, and welcoming. I have not once had a bad experience here. I ordered the Hot Cider Cocktail, which was perfectly spiced and warmed you from the inside out. The topping of cranberries was a pretty touch, although I personally didn't need that many of them. The Berry Powered Steel Cut Oatmeal was generously sized, and although served warm instead of hot, it was very tasty and filling. Especially after adding all the fresh sides! HOWEVER, our most recent experience was a DUD. 1.) our waitress attempted to remove my egg plate BEFORE I'd finished eating my eggs and was surprised that I wanted my plate back! 2.) Before we were both finished eating the remainder of our meal, she came back 'explaining their billing' (cash, debit, or credit), disrupting our meal and wanted the bill PAID right then and there at the table.... which forced us to STOP eating our meal, get out a wallet, and pay her. She did not offer, nor did we ever receive, a copy of the receipt. She just 'showed us' on her little billing pad/tablet and walked away with our payment and tip. We really object to that! I ordered the egg white healthy omelette and subbed chicken sausage for mushrooms (for an up charge) with potatoes and a biscuit. The omelette was HUGE so great portion for the price. On par for what I expected. The potatoes were mostly nice and crispy, super tasty but really oily so I did blot them a bit with a napkin. The biscuit fell short, it was kinda dry and gummy, the jam helped but wouldn't get one again. Overall, for the price I felt it was worth it. This diner is right off of highway 94 in Kenosha. We came in on a holiday and were seated right away. The service was very nice and quick. My husband and I both had the chilaquiles rojo. I ordered it with chicken chorizo and he had it with the steak. It was a very tasty meal. There was so much chorizo on my plate! The breakfast potatoes are delicious as well. My mom loves bloody mary's but she didn't like the mix they served (she said it was too horseradish-y, the server said it was a common complaint amongst customers) but our server was quick to remedy the problem with a different drink with no problems. We went on a Saturday brunch time and it was pretty packed but it was a quick wait with great, quick but awesome service! Came here for brunch and I was impressed. I was surprised how an omelet was $16 until it came out. You could choose toast or pancakes, and one choice between potatoes or fruit. I settled on the carnivore omelette stuffed with meat and cheese. I got the fruit cup as my side, but I would get potatoes next time. I decided on the pancakes for my carb to make it worthwhile. The omelette was delicious and the pancakes were light and fluffy. The fruit cup was good, but some of the fruit wasn't in season, so they weren't as sweet as I'd like. The only downside was that my friend I was with used their waitlist online, and we sat there for a while waiting for a table. Once you make a reservation, you are supposed to check in with the host, but she didn't know, so we sat there waiting for our table while multiple people came in and got seated right away. The menu itself contains pancakes, skillets, original dishes, Benedict, omelettes, smoothies, a variety of handcrafted, beverages, sandwiches, French toast, waffles, crêpes, scramblers, variety of Greek yogurt, steel, cut, oatmeal, signature, sides, bakery, and more. The dishes are quite generous and proportionate in size, and I've yet to have a bad bite. Even when this place is slammed, the consistency of the food remains steady. If you're coming here during peak dining times, be prepared to not only park in the Woodmans parking lot, but also prepare ahead of time to put yourself either on the waitlist for brunch or breakfast, or make a reservation. Without it, the wait times are wildly long! If you're reading this, you're already on Yelp and can add yourself easily to their waitlist or reservation options, depending on what's available, by going to their Yelp page directly. Once you've added yourself to the list, you can see where you are in the position line, and receive real time notifications set to your preference. Doing this will cut your wait time overall significantly. My only ding for this place is that because of the sheer volume of people, the place can feel very loud, noisy, and rushed to have you get in, eat and get out.
