I wouldn't expect such a great brunch restaurant in a gas station in a rural part of Kenosha County but Goldie's definitely fit that bill. Huge portions, lots and lots to choose from, fun brunch items (Dubai chocolate pancakes/waffles, monte criste, tons of Mexican breakfast options,) I had the forest skillet which had tons of food! It came with toast or a pancake. I choose the pancake and I easily got two meals out of it. They also had lots of espresso drinks. Service was very pleasant and the inside was bright and clean. This cute little place makes it feel like you are not in a restaurant attached to a gas station. The food is good and the staff is so friendly! Caution on the weekends... it is busy and they don't reserve seating on Sundays. The coffee is good... strong, but good. I gave them a 4 because while the food is good, it does need some work. Except... the corned beef hash. It is amazing! I have only had the hash, the chocolate espresso waffle (couldn't really taste the espresso) and the Dubai chocolate French toast (plenty of pistachio butter but I could not taste it, just chocolate and berries). Super exited to try a new breakfast spot and based on all the positive 5 star reviews was looking forward to it. Sadly just ok. Place is super clean and inviting decorated nicely. It was not busy on an early Saturday morning. They do not have fresh brewed ice tea just raspberry ice tea from the soda machine as well as Pepsi products. My husband and I ordered skillets. And while they were OK, the portion of potatoes to other ingredients was overwhelming. There were TONS of cubed deep fried potatoes, that were good but the portion was too HUGE and disproportional to the other ingredients. I barely had any ham, cheese, or peppers and onions just TONS and TONS of potatoes. Same with husband's skillet barely any chorizo sausage or cheese in his Santa Fe skillet and no jalapeño peppers just TONS and TONS of potatoes. We both ordered eggs over-easy and they were more over medium/hard. Again, disappointing. The most surprising part is the skillets come with choice of side pancakes or toast. We both ordered sourdough toast BUT when orders arrived at our table there was only one piece of toast as a serving. I even questioned the server, she said that was standard. What? Which is another huge disappointment for the price point. I've explored every breakfast place in a 30 mile radius around Kenosha because breakfast out is my jam! I've never ever have been served one piece of toast as a side. SMH It was shocking! And the toast was just so so - one side seemed not toasted and other side was well done. It's kinda hard to mess up toasting a slice of bread, isn't it? You have to ask for jam and ketchup - not on the table. Jam is the Smuckers packets, asked for strawberry but they were out of strawberry. Service for the place not being busy was not very attentive when we needed refills. For the price point, it was $42 for two of us, I'm not sure we will be back since there are other options in area that serve two pieces of toast as a side, know how to cook over easy eggs, and have appropriate portion ratios in their skillets. We were greeted and seated quick, place was lil busy but plenty of tables, waitress came by took drink order! Daughter asked for chocolate milk , was told there were out of chocolate milk, but had several chocolate syrup options on counter , which could of been mixed into white milk .. common sense. She came back 15 mins later to take food order , food arrived and my salad while looked good was not, daughter said her scrambled eggs had a funny taste , husband said his potatoes tasted stale and didnt eat them. Not sure we will give this place another try , for the 3 of us bill plus tip was 75$ truthfully food was not worth the cost. Would like to add that the owner reached out , greatly appreciated.however we did not mention during our visit because we do not expect a discount or free food, as it was our free will to stop and eat, our tastes may not align with every place we go, and well again it was a choice we made. Love this new gem. Super cute and modern inside with a plethora of food options. My husband had the corn beef hash which he said wasn't bad, but wouldn't get it again. It was very fresh, though. I had the burger which was a solid option since I couldn't decide between breakfast or lunch. It was very basic - nothing out of the ordinary. Food was overall good and we'd be back very soon! I had the pleasure of dining in the other day. You would not expect a cute modern diner in a gas station but they sure made it happen. My server Andrea was delightful and spoke highly of the food and establishment. The barbacoa eggs benedict were to die for. My favorite part had to be the side of potatoes. I find it genius to cut them into cubes then deep-fry them for a breakfast item. I'll have to recreate them at home for breakfast myself. Travelers breakfast oasis, Chicago to Milwaukee there's simply nothing comparable with 94 access. A standout breakfast spot worthy of venturing to. Friendly staff that was mindful of toddlers. The location is fresh ,clean and easy to navigate with ample parking recommend the west entrance for direct restaurant access. Great for the whole family , music is soft great place to enjoy a meal with conversation. Water quality was on poont and the straws are normal wont become soggy paper mush much appreciated. Such a great experience at Goldie's! The staff is super friendly and very attentive. Our waitress, Veda was superb! The food was excellent! I had the best Reuben I've had in a long while! Yeah! I love a good Reuben and this was great! They make their own brisket and 1000 dressing. My husband had the Monte Cristo French toast sandwich, the sauce was also homemade and delish! Arrived with anticipation. We had breakfast here a few months ago and it was great! Even suggested it to some people we know! Today we were more than underwhelmed, at best! Immediately greeted & seated when we arrived-nice! We observed a very large party (14+/-) in the middle of the restaurant. One waitress serving them all. 3 other waitresses at the serving window, backs to the restaurant, talking. One motions toward our table and the one with the large party waves her off; seemingly indicating she was headed our way. No, that didn't happen. Ten more patrons trickle in. We've been seated for nearly 5 minutes now. We have our menus. No waitress. No water. No coffee. We discuss the happenings and continue to wait. And that's when we got up and left. 10 minutes without acknowledgment or coffee is a bit much. If the waitress assigned to our table is busy apparently there is no protocol for someone else to step up and help!?!?!?! The hostess notices us leaving and apologizes because she said she saw no one came to our table. Then, we wonder if it is above her pay grade to offer water or coffee??? She attempts to continue the apology and offer a discount. Nope. One can only wonder how long we would wait for that. Too little too late. We like their coffee and the pancakes are good. But today's service was, to say the least, non existent!!!! Sad really, because we were ready, cash in hand to enjoy a yummy breakfast and coffee locally. That didn't happen and I'm not sure if/when we might try again. On a happier note, we drove to another place we like- walked in, greeted, seated and brought our drinks all within TWO minutes! We went here this morning, a Wednesday 9:00 am - During regular business hours as you can see by the hours posted on their door. Handicapped, we parked out front where the most obvious sign for Goldie's is. OMG it was a tortuous walk through a maze to get to the door. No sign or indicators to drive around to a more direct entrance. Which we did after encountering a locked door at the end of the maze. All that fuss and they were inexplicably closed. Wow, this was a nice surprise to find for a late breakfast. Thanks to others great reviews we took the short drive up. It was packed on a Sunday around noon. But luckily , we were seated in under 10 minutes. A really substantial menu of all the usual breakfast options, hand-held sandwiches, burgers, and a surprising amount of lunch salads . Everything was really fresh and tasty. Very big portions and lots of options for sides. Wanted some greens so I got a side salad. It ended up being nearly an entree size . Recently saw a post for Goldie's and went to try. We went on a Saturday morning and it was a win win. Clean inviting atmosphere, delicious food and courteous staff. Kind of weird location (connected to gas station) but once you enter you would never know. We had the steak with chimichurri sauce eggs and potato's, and the bagel salmon and cream cheese, and a waffle with berries. We will be going back and encourage you all to try it too.
