I brought my Ford 400 to Phoenix Engine in 2019 (Engine #93510). I worked directly with Randy through the build process and trusted his recommendations. I was paying professional prices for his professional expertise. At first, everything seemed great. I paid for the fast-track service, got a video of my engine running, and couldn't wait to get it in the truck. I'm not a mechanic by trade, but I've spent years working on cars. This was our (my son and I) first complete truck build, so it took us a while to get everything together. Once we got it running, it quickly became obvious we had a heating problem. We spent months trying to figure it out. New water pumps. Different radiators. Different fan setups. Clutch fans, electric fans, shrouds, coolant additives--you name it. Nothing fixed it. As the warranty period was coming to an end, I brought the engine back to Randy and explained what was happening. The second I mentioned overheating, Randy accused me of doing something that ruined the engine. I tried explaining that I never let it get hot enough to damage it. I may be dumb, but I'm not stupid. Instead of looking at the engine, he spent the next 45 minutes explaining why the problem was my fault and why he wouldn't honor his warranty. Randy never even inspected the engine. I left there crushed and disgusted. I kept trying to solve the problem. Eventually my ambition dwindled and the truck just sat for years. Every time I walked past it, it was a reminder of the money, time, and effort that had turned into a failure--as my wife was always happy to point out. Finally, my son, who helped me rebuild the truck, put a boot in my ass and convinced me to bite the bullet. We had to do the only thing we hadn't done yet--we had to rebuild the Phoenix Engine engine that had less than 2,000 miles on it. All of those miles were put on while trying to troubleshoot the issue. This time we used a different shop to rebuild the engine The first thing the new shop told me was that the block had been bored to 4.060 and that the cylinder walls were extremely thin. I have the Phoenix Engine spec sheet showing the 4.060 bore. I also have wall-thickness measurements from the teardown showing readings as low as .078", .082", and .087" in some locations (see attachments). I wish I had known to ask about cylinder wall thickness and boring limits back then, but that's exactly why I hired Randy a professional engine builder. The shop told me the thin cylinder walls were the cause of the overheating problems I had been fighting since day one. They let me know that the block was unusable except as a boat anchor. What really bothers me is that none of this was discovered by Phoenix Engine. I brought the engine back to Randy during the warranty period. I told him exactly what it was doing. Instead of investigating the problem, Randy blamed me for it. Years later, after tearing the Phoenix Engine engine apart, we finally found the reason it wouldn't stay cool. This experience with Randy and Phoenix Engine cost me thousands of dollars and, honestly, something even more valuable--years. Years of looking at a broken truck that my son and I worked so hard on. Years of wondering what I had done wrong. Years of chasing a problem that, according to the second machine shop, was built into the engine from the start. I've got the Phoenix Engine spec sheets. I've got the cylinder wall measurements. I've got the receipts. People can draw their own conclusions. Mine is that trusting Phoenix Engine was one of the most expensive, time-consuming and heartbreaking mistakes I've ever made. read more

Would never recommend this place to anyone! Took 6 months for an engine and was told it would only take 6 weeks. Kept calling to get updates and they never would get back to me. Always dodging the calls. Told me they would send the receipt and tracking number which We didn't receive until AFTER the hot rod shop got it. I truly wish I could give these guys ZERO stars. I'm not impressed with them at all. Their website boasts, "We can rebuild a stock engine to suit your needs and your pocketbook." However, they leave out the part about, "if we feel your project is worthy of our time". After 2 minutes on the phone with their receptionist (a.k.a. call screener) I was told I would be speaking to Randy. 20 more minutes on hold and it was obvious they were not interested in working with me on my '95 GM 350 (TBI) project. Didn't matter that I wanted their expert advice for my truck. It seems if it's not 350 to 1500 horses, it's not worth their time. I'd be OK with being told, "we're not really the kind of shop that can help you." That kind of advice is beyond their level of customer service though. These guys are only interested in building high performance engines for muscle cars or the track, regardless of what they advertise on their site. Don't bother calling them for custom machine work on anything that's not up to their lofty standards. read more

Horrible customer service, I called multiple time to get a status update on my engine. I get a call back from them a month later. I order my engine early August they told me it would be done in October. October comes around they tell me November. November is done now they say December. I get a call from them at the end of December saying my engine will be done by mid January. It's January 20th while I write this and still no engine. I called them multiple times trying to get a hold of the guy who gives you an ETA on when it should be ready, but he hasn't responded yet. I spent a lot of money on my engine and Phoenix Engine has given me nothing in return. read more

I wished that I had read these reviews prior to placing an order. My engine is brand new so, I can not comment on the quality. I can say that it starts and runs smoothly at the moment. The biggest concern is the lack of follow up and response time to legitimate problems. They are either grossly under staffed or don't care. Have to add a quick update, Phoenix Engine has redeemed themselves to me. I had since moved out of state and had some issues with my engine that I had to have a local mechanic fix for me. I contacted Randy and told him the problems and it being under warranty asked him to reimburse me for the repair. He immediately sent me a check for the amount of the repair and told me they had received a bad batch of parts and have since switched vendors. Since the last repair the motor runs like a dream, good job guys. Thanks again! read more

Phoenix Engine Rebuilders sold me on a crate engine for my 1994 Chevy C1500 that included Vortec heads, a mild cam, a performance intake manifold, a high volume fuel pump, a rebuilt TBI (throttle body injection) modified with a special spring, and a new custom computer chip to make it all work together. It was a complete package, personally designed by Randy, a self-proclaimed automotive engineer. It's a great concept and that is why I made the purchase. I ordered the engine on April, 28, 2011 and was told it would take 6-8 weeks to build. It wasn't ready for delivery until July 8, 2011. It took 10 weeks. I was told at the time of the order to call for a status in 4 weeks, which I did. Randy didn't return my call for several days, and no one else would give me a status. I was given a new electric fuel pump (external) to install but it didn't fit my application. They then gave me an internal version after I requested it. The only documentation I received concerning the part numbers of the internal components was a photocopy of the cam card. I called later to ask and was told a generic intake manifold part number, but they were unable to tell me what pistons were installed. I installed the engine per their detailed yet confusing instructions, It ran poorly. Black soot was spraying out of the tailpipe. The computer thinks the throttle is open and is delivering way too much fuel. I called Randy the owner to ask about the correct timing setting, and after a couple of days he finally called me back and said curtly "Read the book". A few days later I called Randy again and, after he finally called me back, he said that if I brought the truck in, they'd get it running. Three weeks and several unreturned calls later, they say it's ready. Randy said his son worked on it and that I had the timing set wrong and he found a missing ground wire. I had already set the timing per their instructions, and I know every wire under the hood and every one was put back where I found it. When I asked if I could talk to his son, Randy said they were too busy and "time is money". When I got the truck home, I checked the base timing. It was set for 6 degrees BTDC, not 0 degrees as the book says. There are no extra ground wires. It ran only slightly better but is still spraying soot. They had the truck for 3 weeks and all they did was change the timing. And they charged me $100 more! Their timing maladjustment was an attempt to disguise the real problem. While the engine ran well on their 'fast' track' jig using a carburetor, it does not run properly in the vehicle using a Throttle Body Injection (TBI). Professional performance repair shops have subsequently informed me that their package deal components would never work properly together for my application. The TBI has the improper bore and injectors, causing excessively rich fuel/air mixture, and I am now using the original TBI. The EPROM chip ordered by Phoenix Engine Rebuilders was for the wrong year, so I had to purchase another. The cam installed in the engine is not compatible with the package deal components, nor with stock components, consequently I have an engine that will never run properly. I've had to pay professionals to diagnose and mitigate the issues that Phoenix Engine Rebuilders has caused, all at further personal expense. Phoenix Engine Rebuilders has made no serious effort to correct the problem, nor do I think they are sufficiently competent to do so if they were so inclined. read more

Sign on the wall said, "You are responsible to follow the building of your engine through our process" or words to that effect. That becomes difficult, however, when you call and are left to rot on the phone, or you are promised that Randy will call you back Real Soon Now - and of course you already know what happens (or doesn't happen) then. It took so long that they lost major parts to the engine and then - I am not making this up - charged me an hour of labor time to find those parts they had lost. They screwed up the valve stem heights, and then charged me even more to fix them after making up some lame reason to blame me for it. Do yourself a favor - don't. read more

I had been searching for shops in AZ to build an engine for my 1967 Mustang. It didn't help with a lot of the business either closed or going out of business. I was referred to Phoenix Engine from a good friend. Who stated they had 2 engines done by this shop within the last 6 years. So I called and spoke to a gentlemen by the name of Randy. I let Randy know what type of car I had and what would be the best recommendation on a budget. I was sold Ford 302 - 331HP towards the end of October. In the past few months everyone has been very helpful from start to the finish of my engine, which was received a week after New Year's... I'm in the process of having it installed. Placed order on 12/18/13 was told there was a 8-11 week lead time. Received engine 16 weeks later with the wrong flex plate, even though I had called a month earlier to ensure they sent it with the correct one. I can honestly say I have never delt with a more incompetent service company. They do not keep accurate records, have to ask for your information every time you call which was way too often over the course of 4 months. After receiving the engine and finding out it had the wrong flexplate, they took 4 weeks to sent the correct one. Unexcusable! I still haven't received the thermostat housing from my manifold I sent them which is a part I need to finish the install on the engine. Had an engine built for my truck some years ago. I doubt I will use them again. The customer service, attention to detail, and response is not good. They are smooth talking but got the feeling that they are trying to up sell you things and cutting corners here and there. In the end, I got a strong working engine but ran into too many snags along the way. They forgot an oil plug at the rear of the block, luckily I noticed it before I bolted up the transmission. That would have been messy. Got talked into porting the exhaust manifold, but they took so much material off that my headers would not seal. Had to take my truck to another shop that modified the headers and made custom gaskets for it. When I complained about it, they flatly denied doing anything wrong. The engine has had oil leaks from the beginning. Even after having them tighten things up as recommended. They are minor leaks but still annoying. I got a sneak peek at their garage and assembly area, and all I saw was a bunch of teenagers, nobody I would consider an experienced machinist. They seem overwhelmed with business, and I know of other people that had good experiences, but I would say it is hit and miss and there has to better options than this place. read more

Full Disclosure; I bought my Ford 302 and had to delay my install ! My experience began with the owner Randy going over the needs of my project Type of Engine, Transmission, Vehicle it will be installed in, use etc. What I received was an engine with the Wrong Flex Plate, Wrong Oil Pan, Wrong Pulley Set And lastly what was nearly Bait & Switch Randy sends the engine without the Carburetor to offset my shipping costs. After reviving my project and learning the mistakes that were made on my engine build I made numerous calls to Phoenix Engine asking then to send the parts required to correct their mistakes. I've been passed back and forth between Randy and Larry. The end result Phoenix Engine has not corrected one of their mistakes and after close to $750 in replacement parts my engine is nearly installed but yet to run. Speaking of Run RUN FROM PHOENIX ENGINE REBUILDERS they lack integrity customer service and in my opinion your taking a huge risk doing business with them. read more

This shop has a severe lack of customer service and clearly there hasn't been any changes after reading the previous reviews. Along with the several other negative reviews of this business, Phoenix Engine promised my boyfriend, Edgar, a 383 stroker, with 426 horsepower, for a '68 Camaro to be completed in 12 weeks. A down payment of $2800 was made for the $7000 contract. They took both Edgar's and my number down for contact. Needless to say, 12 weeks passed and Edgar reached out to find out about his engine and they said it was going to be another 4 weeks. After the 4 weeks Edgar reached out and Randy said he had been trying to contact Edgar using my phone number but neither of us received any calls, blatant lie. Because this was Edgar's dream car he was hoping that it was because quality took time. That was not the case at all. After 6 months he finally was able to get a walk through but the engine wasn't any where near being completed as it was only the block and the heads. The block also had a sticky note that it was only 406 horsepower. At this time Randy went through the contract that both Edgar and Phoenix Engine had agreed upon when Edgar paid his down payment but Randy tried to increase the total price by $1,000 which was unacceptable. As a business if you cannot keep to your contract it is the business that takes the loss not the customer. At this time Randy tried to say he would try and reduce the price back down to what was originally agreed upon however he never got back to Edgar. It took 2 weeks for Edgar to even hear back from Randy and the only reason he called is because Edgar called the shop and told them forget it and he wants his money back. Phoenix Engine had excuse after excuse of why the Engine wasn't completed. It was because they were really busy taking on new orders. Parts weren't being delivered on time and supposably over 100 engines to build. An employee was sick. So many excuses. When Edgar went to pick up his money Randy said he likes to make things right with people he said that he was taught that if he was wrong he was going to take responsibility. Also Edgar brought brand new valve covers for them to put on the engines that were returned with damages. Randy tried to give back an extra $100 to compensate for the time lost but it was probably for the damaged parts they returned and we did not accept the extra $100. We took our money that we paid and will never go to Phoenix Engine again and neither should anyone else. Phoenix Engine wouldn't know what responsibility is if it hit them in the face. A proper business would not overload themselves so much that they cannot handle the work they have already promised others. They have no consideration for time and it's not because quality takes time. They want people's money. They ruined my boyfriends idea for his dream car. I am quite disappointed to say the least.. I called regarding pricing for my project engine to be cleaned and check the first time I was told someone would call me back 3 days later no call. I called again today and was told that they wont do any work to my engine and no one in the valley would. The engine is a 400 sbc I than called another shop who was more than happy to do the work. this shop screwed up my block so bad i had to trash it and get a new block. they would never call me back and took for ever just to clean a 350 i had to go down to the shop and just pick up my block. if i was not so mad i would of saw the chip in my cylinder wall. if you want to get the run around never get a phone call and never want to get your engine done then this is the place to go. read more

Phoenix Engine (Phoenix Muscle Car) built a 302 for me 15 months ago. It's 3 months out of warranty, and making lifter noises. Randy said It's because I used "Synthetic Blend" oil... after taking the intake off I discovered NO adjusting shims under the rockers, Valve stem heights as much as .030 difference, and 4 rockers "loose"... the lifters had no "preload" on them. I think they got in a rush when I was about to cancel the order (it took them 9 weeks to build the engine) and the assembler decided not to pay attention to "detail". well, I'm doing it right with adjustable roller rockers for about $450 plus MY labor. My question: Why would you spend $1000 more for an engine you have to wait weeks for, when you could have thew same engine in a few days from 'Blueprint' or 'ATK'... I found more things "half assed" and I posted them on the BBB review page... randy is a great "salesman"... be forwarned read more

After paying over $6,300 in advance and 8 weeks later am now told that the 302 engine I ordered, (that was supposed to be 7-8 weeks out), was not ready and I would be lucky to get it in another 30 days but no promises. These folks are pathetic. If you do business with them after all the bad reviews then you get what you deserve. My project is completely stalled and I've had to order another engine from another machine shop. I did business with them because they had a 100% satisfaction rating at E bay. What a scam. Excuse after excuse of why they cant get it done. But up front before getting my money they of course promised 7-8 week delivery time just to get my money. Randy is apparently the owner and also bait and switched on me adding extras after the sale, charging me more money and then not delivering as promised. They will mess up your timing on your jobs. Randy tells me that most if not all of his clients "don't care about timing, they want quality". Funny he didn't mention that when he wanted my money. After cancelling my order 2 weeks ago I'm still waiting for my refund to my account, which Randy assured me was credited back on November 6th in 2 refunds of which only one deposit has been returned. I'm still waiting for the other $3,000 to be returned. And after talking to Randy 3 times last week his story changed again and now he states that he did the refunds on Monday 11-9 and Tuesday 11-10-15, and then on a later conversation said that I haven't received my refund because Wednesday, 11-11-15 was Veterans Day. Randy is an outright liar, undependable, untruthful, will tell you whatever you want to hear to get your money and leave you to hang and dry. You cant expect to get any answers from his staff either. they know nothing and always steer you to Randy who never returns phone calls. I had to initiate all calls to Phoenix Engine and as of this morning, 11-16-2015 have had to get my Bank involved in the process of getting my money refunded due to Randy's lack following thru with my refund. As of today, 11-16-15 I'm still waiting for my refund and have spent countless hours on the phone between the Bank and Phoenix engine so that I could get my money back and be thru with this scamming outfit. I have all the documents from the bank to prove what I'm saying. I had to get the bank involved just to get my money back since randy lied to me about when it would be processed. Randy, lets face it. I feel extremely fortunate that my credit card company went to bat for me and got my $8000 back from them after months and months of lies. i recently purchased a motor and was treated very well. Once they have your money everything changes. Randy and Larry will give you the biggest run around and blame delays on their suppliers. Get the time from of when the motor is going to be completed in writing because they wont give it to you. Randy blames the delays on having to take a week off for holidays as well, as an owner don't you make the hours for the shop? Then when you ask for an update it takes a week to get a call back. If you want to be truly disappointed in an engine builder, hear a bunch of excuse, get the run around than please use Randy services. read more

Agree, VERY BAD SERVICE. Randy is a nice guy until he gets your money, and then you are nothing but a bother to him. He told me it would take 6 weeks to build my 454 BB, it took 15 weeks. When I received it, the oil pan was leaking in three spots. I emailed photos of the pan leaking oil all over my driveway and called numerous times with no luck. They will say, "it will be here on Friday" just to blow you off. I have been trying to get this oil pan sense May of 2011. I have recently contacted the AZ BBB and am taking him to small claims court. The guy should be ashamed of ripping off hard working people in these economic times. I Talked to Larry, on 11-27-13 and placed an order for a 302, 352hp engine. I paid in full. I told him I didn't have a core, he said no problem we can work around that. 9 weeks go by, no call, no info on my engine, so I sent an email, and told them if I couldn't get a phone call letting me know what was going on, I would like to cancel my order, Randy called me a day or two later. Now Randy tells me I need a core, I tell him I do not have one, and I told Larry that. Randy wants a core of is going to charge me. I add the carb set up and then add there so called fast track, what a joke! Another $800 plus down the drain. I finally got my engine on 4-24-14, It looks like it was make for bozo the clown, blue engine I asked for that, black covers I asked for that, red wires, and chrome air cleaner red, blue black and chrome, it's not a pretty sight. The thing that upset me the most was no communication! we have your cash, we will call you if we feel like it attitude. Charging me for a core I was told I didn't need to have by Larry, and then no Dyno results to back that I have the HP engine I paid for. Its, take our word for it. Nothing showing the HP or Torque of my engine. know one who answers the phone can help you, and there is always an excuse for not getting something done, or not doing it right. End the end, even my sales sheet has the wrong info about my engine. If the Carb listed doesn't match what is on the engine, I can just imagine what else is not right on the engine. First let me say that I've had hot rods and muscle cars for 50 years, so I'm not new to this. I bought a 383/385 horsepower small block Chevy from Randy, and it has been the worst engine I have EVER had! The timing chain cover leaks, the oil pan leaks, the distributor gasket leaks, and now after 14 months and 4000 miles, it smokes so bad you can't see behind the car! Also they install the wrong heads, as it was supposed to have Chevrolet vortec heads, but they installed casting #14102193, which are crappy swirl port heads. This engine, by the seat of my pants, doesn't make anywhere near the power it should. Randy acknowledged, when I called him, that that the engine had 193 heads, but just said "oh, they're great heads". I also paid $700.00 for the fast track, and Randy said I could come to the shop and watch, as I understand what's going on, but when I arrived at the shop at the time he told me, the engine was already off the run-in stand. My experience with them has been absolutely terrible, and for roughly $5000.00 I fell I was hosed over as badly as I have ever been. Do yourself a favor and stay far, far away!! read more

I to need to agree with Tom in ALOT of what he was told. My son ordered what we were told a crate motor for his mustang, he changed out a 289 for a 302, he talked Randy, was told about 6 to 8 weeks, it too took 10weeks, once the mechanic of our choice who worked with Jim Click for over 12yrs. put this motor in, he drove it home (about 18to20miles) when we heard this knocking noise, called Randy back up the following morning told him of this issue, was told we would have to take this motor back out, bring it back t o Phoenix, here it took an additional 2.5 weeks for them to fix the issue he blamed our mechanic, fix it for free, was told the intake manifold was incorrectly sealed which let air in and blow a piston?? My son was also told that they would keep him informed of the progress, he made many calls to Randy, who NEVER returned the call, was told he was out in the yard looking for another motor, with a customer, at lunch, two to three days would go by, my son would call again, again the same thing, he wasn't in. I would think IF?? your concerned for your business and the happiness of your customer, you would get back to them ASAP!!!! maybe he needs to find a person who can take calls and keep the customer informed of whats going on, instead of relying on Randy, he's just seems to be toooooooooo busy of a person to take calls, he's overwhelmed with his duties. Randy seems to put blame on everyone else, he thinks he and his crew are flawless!!!!! I truly will NOT recommend him to anyone looking or in need of a motor. Your time and money can be spent better elsewhere. Once again we need to drive back up to Phoenix, after picking up the motor the 2nd time, got all the way home, when the mechanic notice the flex plate was cracked all the way through, again Randy and his team took NO fault, I was told the mechanic did this mistake(again!!????) So again Randy team seems to be flawless? So once again, I picked up the engine, TOTALLY wrapped, all i had to do is unwrap and install. SO the mechanic and I begin, all ready to go, just turn the key over and i thought??? i would be happy, FINALLY after 4 1/2 weeks of no car. WELL i turn it over and bad knocking noise happening!!! another well known mechanic was called to assist, to find that the two of them are 100% positive that i have a line bore gone bad, this is in the crank area, NO where I or the mechanics had access to, the motor was wrapped!!!!!! TRY calling Randy AGAIN and AGAIN with him NOT able to come to the phone, he's with a customer, he's out in the yard, at lunch, !!!!!! So you leave messages after messages for Randy to call. this is now week 2 with NO call back, is it that hard to call a custom back that is having issues with one of his products??? YOU would think he would want the customer to be happy, not having a car for 5 1/2 weeks now is not making THIS customer happy!!! MANY good friends and mechanics are help spreading the news that Phoenix Engine Rebuilders are NOT worth your time, money or effort trying to get Randy to call you back, muchness fix the issues your having. as i've said before Randy and his team thinks there FLAWLESS????!!!!!! NOT able to make customers happy. i recommend you find another resource IF you want engine work, you'll be happier and spend less time without a vehicle. read more

I called Phoenix Engine back on March 19th 2013 to talk with sales manager and a guy by the name of Larry came on the line. I told him I had a matching number Z-28 Camaro LT-1 motor I wanted rebuilt to factory specs and that this engine was very valuable to a car worth over 90K restored. He told me he completely understood and that this is what they specialize in. I had my warehouse manager drop the engine off that same day and they wrote me a quote for repairs of $2395.00. Larry told me it would take about 6 weeks to complete. I made numerous calls after the 6 weeks to find out disposition of my engine and I was told that only Randy could give out this information. After leaving several messages I made a personal visit to the shop to check on my engine and Randy the owner came to the counter to discuss. I told him that I dropped off my engine on March 19th with Larry and I wanted to find out where we were on rebuild and it took them a 1/2 hour to find my engine. He took me back to show me my engine and it was all tore down and in pieces and they have had it for 8 weeks now and nothing done. Randy then took me up front and asked me what I was quoted for the job and I told him that Larry his sales manager quoted me $2395.00 and Randy said that this was impossible and he was the only one that gives quotes and that Larry had no business doing that???????. I asked him if Larry was his sales manager and he said yes but I give the quotes. I told him I have a written quote from Larry and you are telling me this was not good? He then told me the new price was now $2974.00 and he needed an immediate payment of $1700.00 for the work he had done so far! At this point I was caught between a rock and hard place being held hostage. I gave him his payment and he told me that he would have the Engine completed in two weeks and it was on May 4th 2013 (7 weeks later). After making calls every two weeks and two physical drop INS I finally got my engine back 7/19/2013 (4 months later). When we went to pick up he then added another $500.00 to quote and told me if I wanted the Engine this is what I needed to pay with no explanation or authorization for excess charge. In my opinion this is a total scam and I was being held hostage. Brought the engine back to shop and attempted to install only to find out they put a 1985 Chevy van oil pan on my engine and it did not fit. After sending a detailed letter to Randy and a personal visit he admitted that they mixed up a number with disassembled and that is how this happened and they still have not found my original LT1 oil pan that is very valuable piece of this engine that has been lost, or stolen!!. Randy finally found one that would work on my engine (not the original) and after two weeks of wasted time we were now able to install engine I thought!! We started to put the Spark plugs in the heads and realized that they did not fit and after checking the serial numbers we found out the had switched out my matching number heads with some after market cheap heads and now my rare LT1 motor and car was destroyed. I contacted Randy by hand delivered letter pleading for him to find my factory heads and he told us that those are the one's we sent him with motor and he would not help us. Phoenix Engine has destroyed a vintage classic car that I paid over 50K for and its now worthless. I have 3 people as witnesses that the oil pan and heads were not the ones he was given and two of them are certified mechanics!! These cylinder heads cannot be replaced and are extremely valuable and I want answers and resolution to this serious problem! read more

I ordered an engine from them in Nov. 2015 and was told it would be 8-9 weeks. Nothing special, just a 350, 325hp. for my girlfriends truck project. After 10 weeks I'm asking the mechanic that's doing the job for us, what's up? He get's ahold of them and they say it's going to be another 4-6 weeks...wth? I'm on a schedule as well and that's just not going to work for me, there are a ton of other options and places to buy an engine. I was sucked in by their website and pricing, but it's really not a money issue, it's a time frame issue. I really don't mind spending the money, but I want it done when its promised to be done. After reading others reviews I have to agree with the majority...good luck getting Randy to call you back! So after talking to his secretary for the umpteenth time and demanding a refund...guess what? Randy final calls me back and tells me he'll put me on the fast track, lol.. No Thanks, Just a refund will do thank you very much. I've already read too many reviews and horror stories to trust ordering a motor from out of state from him...what if there's an issue? He still gives me the run around on the refund, say some story about the weekend or Banks wanting to hold the money so they get more interest off your money...bs. I run a business as well and run peoples credit cards through my machine everyday! When I'm in the field doing a service call I call it into the shop if their paying with a card. They punch the numbers into the machine and bang...it's done. Same with a refund, if the cards not present you enter it by punch in the numbers. I've done refunds to people as well and it takes less than a minute to do. Randy claims it'll take 3-4 days!!! He Also tells me that I have to pay the 3% card fee and a handling fee!!! More bs...that's the cost of doing business Randy, your the one that didn't produce the engine in the time stated and at that point you hadn't even started the engine! But wait..it gets better. The next week low and behold HE calls me and it seems another customer has changed his mind and upgraded to a different engine and Randy has exactly what I want and can ship it in a week.....or never..lol...I decline the engine and await my refund..2354.00 minus whatever...I get my statement and he graciously refunded me 2000.00. WTH? So he wants to keep $354.00 for what...doing nothing? I called the secretary..again...he'll get back to you..lol...not in this lifetime. He never did call me back, so I had to dispute the transaction through my credit card company, first time ever. They gave me the full refund!!! So as of 5-31-16 I've gotten all my money back...6 month ordeal. Oh and I ordered an engine here locally and the truck project is done as well...So if your thinking about doing business with Randy..hmm. Good luck on your project!!! read more
