Awful experience. Came into for my 4Runner's 30,000 mile oil change - an appointment I scheduled over the phone a week ago. I show up at 8:15 am right on time, they don't have my appointment. They create one and tell me it's going to cost me money. I said no, when I bought my car from Right Toyota in September of 2024, I was given - in writing - 30,000 miles of service care, free. The guy says no, they don't honor that unless it's in writing and unless I have proof it's going to cost me. I say, everything is digital you can look it up. He tells me no, that's not his job. I will have to go in, flag someone down, find my documents I signed 17 months ago, print them out and bring them back over as "proof" that I don't have to pay. I have never been given the run around and list of excuses like this before. Every Toyota I have bought, all 3 of them from this dealer, I have asked for 30K miles of service and never once since 2014 have I had to run in to the dealer to flag someone down to "prove it". The service provider David said he'd do me the favor of putting my car in line for service but wouldn't service it until I had some documentation. I found someone who seemed as annoyed with service department as I was who came over and signed the paper saying I did have that coverage. While waiting to find someone to talk to about the services, I asked to speak with someone about buying out my lease. I was told wait in the front and someone would be with me. I waited 15 minutes, standing in the front and no one came down to help with my questions. I walked away and went to sit in the lounge and no one followed up with me. After waiting 3 hours for a routine oil change on a Tuesday morning, I had to call for a car update because I never received a text that my car was actually checked in nor a phone call with an update. When I called my service manager for an update, I got 25 rings and an automated message saying I could allow him to text me an update. Turns out the car was done, but I never got a call. This is the second time this has happened. Now that my car has gotten its 30k miles of service I look forward to NEVER coming back to this location. When it comes time to buy out or trade in my lease, I will do whatever it takes to never use Right Toyota again. I am SO disappointed with the dealership I have done all of my deals with as an adult who has bought all her cars from in the last 12 years! read more

This was a very frustrating service experience. I scheduled an appointment almost a week in advance for a recall repair and was told the parts were in stock and that it would be completed the same day. Based on that, I planned my day around dropping the vehicle off early. After dropping the vehicle off, I later found out the part was NOT actually available and there was no clear timeline for when it would be. I ended up having to take the vehicle back. To their credit, they did call later and said the part could arrive within the next few days and asked me to bring it back, but the initial lack of preparation completely defeated the purpose of scheduling ahead and wasted my time. On top of that, I was given a ~$9,500 list of recommended services. I understand my vehicle has ~156k miles and will need maintenance, that's not the issue. The issue is that several of the items listed were things I had just recently replaced: - Drive belt replaced ~9 months ago (~4,000 miles) - Battery replaced ~6 months ago (~2,000 miles) - Cabin air filter replaced within the last 30 days Despite this, all three were recommended for replacement. When I questioned these, the advisor partially walked them back, which made the inspection feel inconsistent and hard to trust. The battery test was also confusing. The report showed 12.73V and 613 CCA out of 710, yet it was labeled as a "fail," even though the vehicle starts perfectly every time. It even said "cranking result: fail". At that point, it became difficult to tell what was actually necessary versus what was being recommended. Overall, the combination of unconfirmed parts, poor communication, and inconsistent inspection results made this a disappointing experience. I would recommend confirming that recall parts are physically in stock and reserved before bringing your vehicle in, and getting a second opinion on any major service recommendations. It's now been nearly a month since this visit. I was told someone would follow up regarding my concerns, but I have not been contacted. I used their "smartpath" tool online which is supposed to be an easy, clear way of buying online, all fees are noted to be included, all that only to find out they add an additional $3,000 in random charges once you try to purchase. So the Smartpath price includes tax, title, license, doc fees, and this place adds arbitrary random other fees at the very end that they force on you despite the online system quote stating that the first price is all inclusive. They told me it was a "mistake" on the website.... but listen to this, they said that same excuse TWICE about two different vehicles, 3 months apart, so this is just another one of their weasel tactics. I've heard good things about this dealership, unfortunately my experience was not that same. I have bought or helped buy over 100 cars in my life, I'm very familiar with the process so this doesn't come from inexperience. I was looking at a truck and when we were talking to the sales manager he was condescending and rude, would constantly interrupt and man-splain to me basic, basic concepts. All while bragging about how many cars they sell a month. They basically just kept inferring we didn't matter to them, there would always be another person. The pricing online is also deceptive as well. Lastly, their communication was just horrenedous. Just overall a very bad experience. edit: adding in here that the salesman i worked worth, when asked if he could share what they ballpark value my trade in, he responded "im busy, can't". I'm not sure there is a respectful person at the whole dealership. edit 2: i emailed Jason and have not gotten a response from him. Another sales manager reached out though, at first was a much better experience, and then he low balled my trade in by a lot, then I have been ignored with my follow up with them trying to find the right place on a deal. Keep trying to give them a chance and at every step communication is horrible and just very, very bad experience. Seems like they might not want to interact with someone who knows what they are doing? edit 3: after a lot of back and forth they got me to the deal i wanted. and its been a nightmare even then. I went to go get the car and do paperwork, the car wasnt on lot. They said it would be delivered the following day and it ended up being 2 days later when i was out of town. I get back and the JBL dash speaker was taken out, the car was a mess, the tires were chewed up and my phone wont connect. Disappointing Service Recommendation Despite Courteous Staff My experience with the service advisor and staff at Right Toyota was courteous and professional. They were friendly, helpful, and provided me with a loaner vehicle while my vehicle was being serviced. Unfortunately, my concerns are with the technician's diagnosis and the way the recommended repair was presented to me. I brought my 2021 Toyota 4Runner Limited with only about 40,000 miles to Right Toyota for what was essentially a routine oil change. I was then told that the shocks were failing and leaking and that they needed to be replaced. My vehicle has never been used for off-road or rough-road driving. The recommendation was presented in a way that made me feel that the vehicle might not be safe to drive. I was also told that the condition of the shocks was affecting the tires. I had previously noticed what I considered normal tire wear, but I was now concerned that continuing to drive the vehicle could be unsafe. The estimated repair was around $5,100 for replacing the shocks, with the dealership offering what was described as a discount to bring the price down to approximately that amount. Because of the way the problem was explained to me, I ultimately felt uncomfortable driving the vehicle and decided to leave it at the dealership for the repair. The technician showed me a photograph of one of the shocks and explained that there was a significant leak of hydraulic fluid. I honestly could not tell from the photograph what I was supposed to be seeing. When I pointed out that I had never noticed any fluid dripping onto the ground, driveway, or garage floor, I was told that this type of leakage would not necessarily result in visible drips or stains. After leaving the vehicle at the dealership, however, I decided to do some research myself to understand whether this was a common issue with the 4Runner. I found information indicating that light shock absorber seepage, where road dust accumulates on the surface of the shock, can be a normal condition and does not necessarily indicate that the shock needs replacement. I also found Toyota-related guidance concerning this condition that specifically cautions against replacing shocks based solely on this type of seepage. This raises a serious concern for me: an authorized Toyota dealership should be familiar with known Toyota service guidance and common conditions affecting a 4Runner, particularly when recommending a repair costing approximately $5,000. There is another issue that makes the situation even more concerning. When I picked up the vehicle, I asked for the old shocks so that I could independently inspect them. I was told that they had already been discarded. I had to specifically request that the old parts be retained when I originally left the vehicle for the repair. In my opinion, when a customer is being charged thousands of dollars for a repair based on a diagnosis that is not obvious to the customer, retaining the replaced parts should be standard practice when requested. I also requested printed copies of the photographs that had been shown to me. Apparently, due to technical problems, they were unable to print the photograph of the rear shock. Finally, I was provided with a nice loaner vehicle, which I appreciated. However, in retrospect, I am not sure whether a loaner was actually necessary given the age, mileage, and history of my vehicle, particularly if the condition identified was simply normal shock seepage rather than an actual failure requiring immediate replacement. What concerns me most is not the courtesy of the personnel--I found them courteous and helpful--but the diagnosis, communication, and the apparent use of a safety concern to justify a very expensive repair. For comparison, I subsequently found that four genuine Toyota OEM shocks can be purchased for around $1,000 or less, making a total dealership repair estimate of approximately $5,100 particularly difficult to understand. I believe Right Toyota, as an authorized Toyota dealership serving the Scottsdale area, should be more knowledgeable about Toyota's service guidance and should distinguish between normal shock seepage and an actual leaking/failing shock that requires replacement. Customers should not be made to feel that their vehicle is unsafe to drive unless the evidence clearly supports that conclusion. I hope Right Toyota will review how this diagnosis was made and communicated. A dealership earns customer trust not only by being courteous, but also by providing accurate diagnoses, transparent explanations, and recommendations for repairs that are genuinely necessary. The staff were courteous and helpful; unfortunately, I left with serious concerns about the technical diagnosis and whether this expensive repair was actually necessary. read more

Clarify Exactly How Trade-Ins Are Applied I want to share my experience so other buyers can be extra careful during the negotiation process. From the very beginning of the negotiations, the dealership knew I would be trading in a vehicle. Throughout the process, I was consistently quoted a single out-the-door price. At no point during the negotiations was I verbally told the selling price of the vehicle before my trade-in was applied. Because my trade-in had been discussed from the beginning, I assumed the quoted out-the-door price already reflected the value of my trade-in. After the purchase, I realized it did not. I take responsibility for not asking more detailed questions. Looking back, I should have asked for a complete pricing breakdown before moving forward. At the same time, I believe the pricing process could be made clearer for customers trading in a vehicle. My advice is simple: Before signing anything, ask for the selling price of the vehicle, the trade-in allowance, taxes, fees, and the final out-the-door amount after the trade-in is applied. Don't rely on a single out-the-door number alone. I also want to say that the salesperson I worked with was friendly and professional throughout the process. When she sent photos/videos and I wasn't sure if there were blemishes, she took the time to go back to the car and show reflections from the sun and the light pole, even in the 108 degree temps. I had a million and one questions about the car and the process of making an out of state vehicle purchase, and she never made me feel like I was asking too much and she always answered so quickly. Tiffany is incredibly on top of it! There was a price that I needed to be at out the door and they met that number, which made the whole process easy, without the typical back and forth. ***Updated Review*** After posting this review I was contacted by Jason the customer service manager at Right. He was a pleasure to work with and understands good customer service, which includes validating concerns and accepting where the pitfalls occurred. Right Toyota is very lucky to have this man on staff and should give him a raise since he definitely understands people and is a great asset. They did take my car in to try and remove the damage on the odometer and temperature gauge, but there is still some lingering issues that I don't think can be fixed. It would be nice if they had just replaced the plastic - and they told me they would if I was still not happy with the clean up they did - but I just don't have the energy for another long drive to Scottsdale. I wish they would've just done it when they had the car instead of the back and forth and continued time suck. That being said Jason definitely improved my experience, but I hope they take the feedback here to actually improve and not just rely on him to fix their messes. read more
