The price is great (better than the other pool places we interviewed), although that comes at a cost for sure. They started out strong, but then they completely dragged out our build. There were weeks where we didn't see or hear from them. We were constantly having to contact them to see what was going on with our build. We seriously thought they were just going to leave a big dirty hole in our yard and never come back. After 7 months of us practically chasing them to come back, our pool was completed. Had we not chased them, I would think we would still be dealing with them. We had to point out several cosmetic things in the surrounding areas they worked on, but the pool itself turned out great. Would we recommend them, mmmm probably not unless you have the patience of a saint. read more

One of the BEST pool contractors I have ever worked with!! Not only did they finish on time, they did a fabulous job! Our backyard went from dirt to a beautiful pool in under 10 weeks (would have been 7 if we didn't put in a grotto and slide). Eric, the owner, was in constant contact with me throughout the entire process. He even gave me a courtesy call to let me know that he'd be on vacation for a few days, and who to contact if I had any question while he was out of town. Extremely professional and an absolute pleasure to work with. I know this isn't my forever home and he'll definitely be doing my next swimming pool. I'm in a new community and he has been referred to four other homeowners that we're putting pools in and they all feel the same way. Eric was extremely honest upfront about all the cost for everything I wanted, none of the pricing changed along the way (except for those few upgrades I decided to do throughout the process). I did a lot of research before choosing Eric, Alex, Matt and pheonix pools to build my family's pool in wine country Temecula and to connect us with an excellent builder for a large pavilion with outdoor kitchen in 2022-23. I've had experience in this process as in 2016 I had a pool built for a home I used to own so I had a reference point and again I did a lot of research before hand. Pheonix did a wonderful high quality job on the pool and they were and continue to be highly responsive (especially Matt who has been awesome) and helpful. Cory did the rock grotto and he is truly an artist. I thought their pricing was fair and they didn't push anything that I didn't really need. They were straight up from the beginning . These guys built us a nice pool, and they are easy to get a hold of.. but Alex does not take criticism well and has 100 excuses for everything.. Above all DO NOT HAVE THEM DO YOUR CEMENT! The contractors they used completely ruined our cement and coping. No sloping for runoff and no drainage leaves us with pools of water from sprinklers and rain. Resulting in an awful looking patchy surface, When we asked about it Alex got super defensive and in a condescending tone assured us this "happens to all cement", and "will clear up after a couple of months".. it's only gotten worse. We had a different company put in a cement patio right after the pool and it looks beautiful, plenty of drains and sloping for water runoff. We try to not let it bother us, but after spending $80k it's a real bummer and we expected much much better. read more

We had Phoenix Pools and Spas put our pool in last summer (2018). We contacted and spoke to a few pool companies and ending up getting 2 quotes. One from a large national company and one from Eric of Phoenix Pools. We decided to go with Eric's company for a few reasons. Those reasons: he is local and has been building pools in our area for long time, he is friendly and easy to talk to, answered all our questions, was prompt for appointments, and his quote was lower (not a huge factor but helps). Eric estimated completion in 6-8 weeks. It took a very quick 8 weeks. I don't see how it could go any quicker, there was only a few days where nothing was being done (usually waiting for an inspection). After going through the process I now know that we made the best choice in choosing Phoenix Pools. The greatest value Eric brings is experience. He knows the best sub-contractors! All of the various sub-contractors were great! They were always on time, friendly and professional. They were all experts in their various fields. What Eric does not have is the slick modern sales office with large screen presentations and deluxe brochures. Those things you probably pay for (and probably the reason his quote was very reasonable). Instead you get a friendly, no pressure, person come to your home, show you pics of past projects, asks what you want, and works with you the whole way through -start to finish. I don't want to paint a picture of a company stuck in old methodologies. Eric did present us with 3D pics of what our pool will look like and the pool equipment we got is the latest with remote control using our phones (a little extra cost), low power consumption LED lighting, and a super efficient and quiet variable speed pump. We had our pool started the end of April 2018 and it was completed by the last day of school in June. Our project was completed on time and on budget, no surprises. The upgrade options were so reasonable, we ended up going with a pebble finish, blue granite. One concern we had was what a pool/spa would do to our utilities, but with the efficient equipment, it really hardly made a difference in our bills. Eric has always been quick to respond to questions, even now that the pool is complete. I work from home and the crews were always professional and flexible with our schedule. Our pool build was a great experience! It's been nearly a year and we have loved every moment in our backyard. The whole family spends so much more time outside now, even when not swimming. I am hesitant to leave a review for Phoenix Pools and Spas as no one enjoys having to give a poor review for anyone. I would love to be able to leave a glowing review like many of the other reviews here but unfortunately our experience was nothing like the others who have posted before me. We contracted with Phoenix Pools in October of 2018 and we spent a year with them on our project before issuing them a 5 day notice to cure. So to paraphrase our job in a nutshell, we experienced: a pool project that was routinely under manned and under supervised; numerous instances of poor workmanship and short cuts by Phoenix Pools and the subcontractors they hired; a lack of reasonable diligence in the execution of our project, and subcontractors who were not being paid which severely impacted the progress and quality of our project. Some of the subcontractors used on our job appeared to be unlicensed/uninsured and Phoenix refused to provide evidence to the contrary. And, unfortunately at the end of this process we as homeowners are left to deal with tile falling off our pool and jacuzzi, dead trees and plants, and a zero edge pool that overflows to the point of touching our house when we have people swimming... among other things. If you plan to hire Phoenix Pools and Spas my recommendation is that you get a schedule up front, request a list of all subcontractors and verify their license, insurance, and qualifications. If you are doing a zero or vanishing edge pool, make sure you get calculations up front and have them verified by a non biased third party. If you choose a glass tile print out the manufacturer installation guide and make sure that the installer is installing per guidelines. Perhaps my job was an outlier but I wanted to let others know about our experience so that they can make an informed decision when considering whether or not to contract with Phoenix Pools and Spas. read more

This company is absolutely amazing!!! Our pool was actually started and finished on time and it is beautiful! The running joke in our neighborhood is that it is taking our friends longer to have simple repairs done on their homes than it took us to have a brand new pool and spa installed . Workers were at the house every day, Alex (owner) showed up each day and kept the crew on point. He consistently pointed out small items that he wanted them to redo so the finished pool would look awesome. We have already recommended 2 other families to Phoenix and they are moving forward with them. Their pricing was in the middle tier of the quotes we received, but they responded promptly and worked out all the design details with us before the job began.
