At 1am I had to take my little Pekingese Lucy to their office. I had called around 5pm because she was itching and chewing the tops of her feet. I spoke to Megan who was very helpful. Lucy was having an allergic reaction to the trazadone we used for travel. Only 2nd time and she was miserable. They got us right in, took care of her and I expected to pay more than I did, so they are reasonably priced. She's doing better now! Blown away! I rarely use an emergency service because they are notoriously expensive. My ex is a vet pathologist and can usually help me out and my own vet, Valerie Ferguson, at Four Legged is the BEST! But when I came home late Sunday night about 3 weeks ago, my baby girl was gasping for air. I knew her heart was enlarged but we thought we had more time. My daughter and I rushed down to this place, and WOW..what service and kindness. The cost was minimal, $250, which they reduce down to $150 because of our connections in the vet world. Most people want to sit with their pet for a while but I had been preparing my heart for this day all summer. I just wanted her out of her misery. They were FABULOUS. Beckett knew nothing but love till the very last second. I left with peace in my heart. Now, a few weeks later, a card comes in the mail. This kind crew, in their own handwriting, send me a card that is priceless! We are strangers to them, but they took the time. No form letter with stamped names, but REAL, thoughtful, loving comments. We had to take our dog here for an emergency. The staff and vet technicians quickly attended to our pet to evaluate her for a possible head injury or seizure. They were kind and patient with our pup. The vet attended to our dog and took the time to check for any trauma, make sure vitals were stable, and general overview. This is a very difficult review to write, as we lost our beloved dog, Marty, on 10/24. We brought him in after he suddenly became unresponsive. The front desk staff was extremely kind and took him back right away. However, our experience with the veterinarian was terrible. She showed no compassion and came across as rude when asking questions. It wasn't just me--my daughter was in the room and my son and his girlfriend were on speakerphone, and we all felt the same. When she left, I told the front desk that the vet's bedside manner was awful. They mentioned others had said the same thing, describing her as "very direct." Been here two times. Both times my dogs and I were cared for immediately. The staff is super kind and caring. First visit was with my puppy Rusty. He had a bit of a cough. Turns out it was kennel cough. The second visit just last week my female border collie had an episode. She was non responsive for an hour and a half. Dr came in and told us she did an ultrasound turns out it was bad news. We had to make the decision to let her free. Everyone was so kind to us on the worse day of our lives. My fur baby caught kennel cough right before the holidays, I called my veterinarian and all their sister sites and everyone was booked or out of office for the holidays. I did a google search and saw this was about 2 miles from my condo and I called in, they saw me right away and I was in and out in about an hour. They were kind, courteous, and very thorough. After attempting to get it out myself and failing miserably, I reached out to this vet to see if I could bring my cat in without a carrier. They were quick to say they would have a room ready and would look for an extra crate if needed. Upon arriving around 1 AM they were true to their word and put us in the closest room to the front door for quick and easy transport of my kitten. They quickly took her back to the doctor, clipped the nail, and said they weren't even going to charge me for an exam because of how easy it was. I would rate this place 100 stars if I could. What an amazing hidden gem for ER pet needs. Tucked away on a quiet street, ample parking, clean lobby and very short wait time. I drove the 40min from my house due to an 8-10 hr wait time at the ER close to me. The ladies working were beyond amazing, I was impressed by everyone's knowledge and ability. The DR on duty explained every test and procedure. Cost was lower than I expected for ER care. Check in and check out was a breeze. Our wait time went from 8-10 Hours to minutes. I have been coming to this emergency room for my pets for years. I have always had very pleasant experiences until today when I met Colleen..... Colleen is the receptionist at the front desk, who greeted me with a snarky attitude from The beginning. After visiting with the doctor and getting a treatment plan for my dog, I went to the front desk to pay with care credit like I always do. I was then Aggressively told the policies had changed and when I asked questions about it Colleen started to become extremely unprofessional talking down to me. I asked her to speak to me with respect and be professional and she snapped back at me. She then continued to make comments to everything I had to say, even when I was not talking to her, and I was on the phone. I stated this used to be such a pleasant place to go to and she said well you haven't been here in a while so I replied with does that make it OK to be unpleasant now she then began to use her "power "to inform me that I can wait outside. Colleen used foul language, Made rude comments, And was completely disrespectful when she should be a professional at her job and respect the customers that are coming in EMERGENCY ROOM. When your pet is not doing well, and you're worried emotions are heightened you would expect compassion and empathy from the staff. Instead, I received A hostile attitude, And the absolute worst customer service of my life. Colleen had something to say back to everything. She did not hold back or bite her tongue at all. Literally told me that yes she is working, But she's not gonna let anyone talk to her that way and she's gonna say what she's gonna say and called me a bitch under her breath as she walked to the back. I then overheard her through the walls telling a completely different story to the people in the back Loud enough for the entire lobby to hear everything she was saying. The doctor had to step in Because she could not hold her tongue and not act like a child for one moment. I'm actually baffled by this experience I did not know a woman in her 50s would be so rude and immature to continue to make comments under her Well, actually loud enough for me to hear on purpose while being on the job and knowing that she should be professional admitting that she should be professional, but telling me she doesn't care to be professional . Anyways, long story short Colleen was absolutely awful. I hope that they remove her from her position as she pasteurized me stating you don't know who I am you don't know what As if she had some kind of power or force. Basically a threat. I hope that no one else has to deal with that type of attitude, especially when they are concerned about their Beloved pet And are seeking help. I do NOT recommend anybody come here until she is removed from the position!!!!!!!! I would give the doctor five stars, though sad enough he had to step in as his employees were acting very inappropriate, but he took care of the situation for me and made sure that My dog was taking care of and got the help he needed. Really great experience here last night. My dog had an allergic reaction to his routine vaccines earlier in the day. His face swelled up pretty bad last night so we immediately brought him here. The intake was very simple and a vet tech came out immediately to gather the info needed to treat him. She took him back right away while I finished the intake. They sat us in a room and the vet saw us right away with a treatment plan. She was very nice, warm, and welcoming. We were there for about an hour or so waiting on his swelling to go down. The vet came back in and apologized for the delay as a pet came in needing immediate care. I didn't feel we were there long, and I certainly understand an immediate need with another pet (I'd want the same if I were that pet parent needing that). Meanwhile, my dog was resting and had his shots necessary for his treatment. Great place. I would absolutely go back if necessary (hopefully I won't need it though!). read more

This is long overdue...a few months ago, we got a new puppy. She wouldn't touch her food the day we got her but she was drinking so we figured it was just stress of a new home. When we went to bed she woke us up every hour throwing up. She would then drink more water and go back to bed and sure enough an hour later, same thing. We noticed she was acting more lethargic and I checked her gums and they were white. So I rubbed some honey on her gums and took her to the emergency vet immediately. Turns out her blood sugar was 30. THIRTY!!!! That's very low. And she was also dehydrated. They had to put her on an IV and keep her overnight in the ICU. We were devastated and felt so guilty for not taking her in when she first started throwing up. Ok so imagine this scenario in, say, 2019. It would be terrifying and stressful. Try in 2020 in the middle of a pandemic when you have to hand your puppy over to a stranger through your car window and leave her there because you aren't allowed inside. It was awful. BUT the reason I'm writing this review is because of the communication we received from the Vet and Tech and the care they gave our little miss Maisel. They weren't annoyed by my calls checking in on her and the tech taking care of her sent me an email update with photos since I couldn't be there with her. I think one of my biggest fears (aside from her not making it) was that she would be scared and alone. She ended up doing great and she is thriving now :) So THANK YOU to the entire staff! read more

My family recently went through a tragic time losing one of our cats. Even though we have been through this many time before, it was one of the most difficult times during our lives because of how young she was. The receptionist that helped us, Diana, made this difficult time much easier for us. The lobby was very busy, yet she took her time with us not rushing us. She hugged us (several times) and that meant a lot to everyone in the family. We have never had such wonderful service at an emergency animal hospital when it comes to putting a pet down. She is someone we will never forget, and we thank her for her empathy during that tough time. The only reason we are not giving 5 stars is because when the veterinarian came in, we did feel rushed and we felt as though we were a burden to her. When we asked for her card and saw that she was the medical director we were a little disappointed that someone with little to no empathy was running this hospital. We will come back due to the nice staff, but will call ahead to see if what veterinarian is working. read more

I have debated writing this. First let me say, I would give 3 - 4 stars. I believe they do a really great job. That being said, I took my dog to their facility yesterday. I do not live far away from them.... 7th st & butler. We left my home @ about 9-915am. We finally pulled into the driveway @ about 1030. I was recently diagnosed with a disease called pots. It causes me to have seizures & pass out. Yesterday I had to pull over 3 different times bc I felt like I was going to pass out. So when I finally got there, I was totally terrified that I wouldn't be able to get in the door with my dog. So I called inside & asked for help. They said they would be right out. So 2 ladies came out. The one with the facial piercings must have been in a bad mood bc she was a bit aggressive with me. She got my dog out of the car & said "she doesn't need the gurney, she can walk" & threw her leash my way. I was really having a hard time because I just felt like I was gonna pass out and I really needed somebody to help me get into the door but after she threw the leash at me she walked in and totally ignored me. Once I finally made it in the door I told the lady at the front desk that I need to sit down. I tried to explain to her that I'm sick and I pass out or have seizures due to this illness. I literally collapsed in the front lobby on the couch. This has been very very difficult for me and it's very embarrassing. So I asked if I could go wait in my car because when I lay back I don't feel like I'm gonna pass out. They were fine with that fast forward several hours we were in my car totally fine and one of the nurses came out and said that the vet would see us. It was about 3 o'clock I believe maybe 230 I'm not exactly sure. I explain to her that I was having a very rough time and that I needed some help to get into the clinic. She was very accommodating and very sweet I don't know her name. So we get into the room and wait for the vet no big deal. The vet was very kind I was completely apologetic for being in the state that I was in I tried to explain my disease and I don't know if I even made sense because I couldn't keep a thought straight in my mind. So she tells us what we need to do and then she says that we can go, OK fine. We get up to the lady in front and I apologize to her and I tell her that I'm very embarrassed that I'm very sick and I just felt like I was gonna pass out in the clinic but I ended up passing out in my car. She was understanding. So she tells me the total and I told her that I was trying to get a hold of my dad to pay the bill but I wasn't able to reach him. So I asked her if I could go get the credit card from him and bring it back or if I could have him stop in on his way home to pay the bill and she said no you can't leave unless your bill is paid OK fine. So I told her I would go wait in my car until I was able to get in touch with him. She was fine with that. Then the nurse with all the facial piercings came out and was very almost accusatory I'm not sure what word I really want to use, but I think she thought that I was trying to leave and scam the business which I was not. I told her that I was just gonna wait because they said that I can't leave then she asked if I was sure if I was going to pay the bill. I just said I'm trying to get the money for you. It was all very embarrassing. I was having a very difficult time and to be almost accused of stealing is a very difficult situation for me. I had no desire to not pay the bill. I had every intention of paying the bill. So I finally get a hold of my dad I get his credit card and I go inside to pay the bill. Again I apologize to the lady at front I told her I was very embarrassed?and and I felt really bad for collapsing in her lobby. She was very kind and said it was no big deal. I'm just not sure why the nurse with the facial piercings was so angry with me? From the minute I pulled in to the minute I left she was very upset with me and I don't know why. I don't know if it is her nature to be aggressive or if she was having a bad day or even if I did some thing, I am completely puzzled. I don't hold the clinic responsible for her ugliness, but all I can hope is that when she sees this, she will realize that showing kindness & compassion costs nothing. I highly recommend phoenix vet. Took my dog who couldn't breathe due to extremely dry cough and I was so scared he was choking. They let me wait for 4 hours in the holding room without anyone checking in. Keeps saying that the doctor will be here shortly. Here's the timeline: Arrived at 8:00AM Xray done at 11:AM Doctor came in at 11:15 AM to say that she will prescribe medicine and antibiotics 11:50 staff came in with the prescription and medicine. The service is so slow and doesn't give a single f for your pets. While i was in the holding room, i hear all the staff laughing, chatting and just taking their time. They not only treated me like I hurt this animal I've never seen before but would not allow me to offer a caring and healing home for it to heal. Someone surrendered this cat thinking they were helping him and I have the impression they just killed gun instead of offering anything else because no one would claim financial responsibility at the time. I showed up less than 24 hours after the ring post said he was dropped off in hopes of saving this baby and they offered nothing but rudeness and smite. Gross. first off when you walk in the door, they weigh your dog and take the temperature. You already owe $184.. my dog had knocked a hole in her arm, chasing a cat and required two staples. They quoted me $651 when they brought my dog back to Weir. They struggled to get her on the scale and they knocked her mouth against the corner of the counter, and it was bleeding, so the bottom line is my dog sustained more damage than she already had when we went there. DONT DO IT!!!!! GO TO VEG Very disappointed in this place and level of care. We had to bring our pup in for an emergency. More specifically he is a 3yr old German shepherd who developed bloat. We went here because they are a "24hr" facility. They could not perform emergency surgery due to being understaffed and closing at midnight. Take your sign down, and stop using the "understaffed" excuse. We paid over 700 dollars for an X-ray and fluids for them to tell us our dog was going to die and they couldn't do anything. The doctor was absolutely awful. Would tell me something and awkwardly blink and stare. Super weird person. No compassion, didn't seem to care... at all. We ended up taking him to veterinary emergency group (VEG) and they were absolutely amazing. There was maybe 3 animals in there and at least a dozen staff on hand. Not "understaffed" here. They clearly employ and value their staff which translates into the care that went into our dog. He went into emergency surgery, his stomach was untwisted, spleen removed and he is home with us now. I WOULDN'T TRUST THIS PLACE TO EVEN BRUSH MY DOG. read more

This post is long over due! Recently we rushed our Monster of a puppy in for a suspected scorpion sting. We were so happy with the customer service and the Vets "bed side manner." They started looking her over ASAP in the waiting room while a room was prepared. They called our regular vet to report the visit so they called first thing in the morning to check on her AND PHX Vet called to check on her the next day or so. Flashback about 2 years ago, we had just rescued our Monster of a puppy, and found out she had parvo. She stayed about 5 to 6 days with PHX Vet and we were impressed. We spoke over the phone at least twice a day. Updates and treatments were throughly explained and discussed. They saved our little Monster! read more

We were referred to Phoenix Veterinary by our family vet to help us figure out what was going on with our dog Izzie and we were pretty scared considering her condition. Izzie is a three year old mixed breed diagnosed with valley fever which was causing fluid to build around her heart in her pericardial sac. The fluid buildup was so bad that she was in heart failure and in very critical condition. Before going through the more intense surgery Dr. Wells and Dr. Rizzo recommended a tap to be performed (by Dr. Wells) and an echocardiogram with Dr. Paige to make sure they could see everything before getting Izzie into the OR. The tap went very well with Dr. Wells, giving Izzie some much needed temporary relief. Dr. Paige, who performed the echo was very thorough, honest and compassionate but unfortunately for us, what he found was worse than we thought and not a simple procedure at all. At this point she had constrictive pericarditis and needed surgery ASAP. It was one of the most nerve-wracking days to drop Izzie off for surgery but I'm so glad that we did. Before taking her into surgery Dr. Rizzo walked us through the risks of the procedure and what exactly the approach was going to be. It really hurt to hear that the risks were high for her situation, but we needed to know that this may be our last time seeing Izzie, and to potentially say our goodbyes. Dr. Rizzo, Dr. Wells and their team kept us up to date throughout the surgery as they hit certain milestones and to confirm the direction forward. It is without a doubt that Izzie would not be alive today if it wasn't for Dr. Rizzo, Dr. Wells, Dr. Paige and their support staff doing everything possible to save her. This place is garbage. I took my cat in because I thought she got bit by something on her eye. I told them I watched her eye swell shut. They said she had a URI. and sent me on with eye ointment. Now 2 weeks later my baby's eye is so bad it needs to be removed! Turns out, $1800 later, they didn't even flush her eye! The very 1st thing that should have done. I'm so sad and disappointed. When I called today to ask questions, she had an attitude and was rude to me. Thinking about contacting an attorney. We learned about this place for unfortunate circumstances, just like most probably do. We lost our sweet dog to cancer on the 4th of July at 9pm at night and didn't know what to do with his body. Fortunately these guys were open and extremely compassionate over the phone, so we took his body over. It had been such an emotional and heartwrenching day- plus in the middle of a pandemic and on a holiday- we weren't sure how things would go. Every single person we interacted with was extremely kind and thoughtful. They cremated our sweet boy within 3 days and when we went to pick up the ashes and paw print, all of the emotions flooded back. The staff were still extremely compassionate and kind.
