I knew from the time I entered this was going to be an awesome visit. It was our first . My dog's name is SOOKIE, 2 yr old Jack Russell Terrier. In 3 Months we have bonded very well . My rescue was poorly treated by her owners. Now because of our bonding, SOOKIE is Calm , Cool & Collected Liz , was the Vet Technician. My dog responded well because of the warmth & TLC , Liz gave her. She gave SOOKIE, a once over checked her ears, took Her temperature and prepared her for the Vet. Dr. Young came and took SOOKIE in his arms.; immediate report! He said she was healthy and came back Just to thank us for coming in. I absolutely loved this Veterinarian and his staff. I cannot recommend Companion Pet Clinic on 32nd Street and Cactus enough. They are owned by a husband and wife, and you can truly feel how much they care about both the pets and the people who bring them in. They have always been incredibly kind, honest, and compassionate with us. They take the time to explain everything, answer questions, and work with us based on what we can realistically afford. I never feel rushed, pressured, or like they are trying to upsell unnecessary tests or services. One thing I appreciate so much is that they do not charge for follow-up visits for the same issue, and sometimes they simply want to see the pet again because they genuinely care about how they are doing. That kind of care is rare. They are also amazing about getting us in quickly, often the same day or next day, which means so much when you are worried about your pet. I do not have a lot of extra money, but anytime I pay for care here, I feel completely confident that my money is going toward the best, most thoughtful service possible. My dog Marj was seen on Monday!! She has been going to this office for years. This visit was awful. I kept waiting for her in the exam room. Apparently the exam was conducted somewhere else. This was a red flag as she was always examined in my presence. Two techs finally brought her into the room. Marge was in destress. They needed to give her the heartworm vaccine. They tried 3 times before allegedly performing the vaccine. I am unsure if she even received the proper dose!!! The doctor NEVER entered the room. I don't know if proper dose was administered. I don't know if she received the vaccinations I was charged for. I have no idea if there was an exam performed. I will NEVER take her back. When I spoke to the vet all he did was make excuses. I will NEVER bring my pet here again!!! I am hoping the other vaccines were administered. The doctor signed off on the vaccines but was not present. My dog is part of my family. I am unsure whether she was properly vaccinated and doubtful she had an exam performed Heartworm preventative vaccine was given in wrong area!!!! Heartworm preventive shot was given in dogs side. He took an interest in both cats, answered my questions, and even trimmed one of their nails for free since it was our first visit. I'm sure it depends on what is going on for you, but I changed providers recently and glad I did because I didn't realize how many things were red flags here until I met a mutual friend acquaintance who is a vet tech and asked them about a few things that were bothering me about this place. It might have changed, but as of fall 2024 they still have drop off and leave service which I tolerated during Covid for obvious reasons and fully supported. I haven't been back since about then. There's no reason to be doing that now. It's so traumatizing for your pet and opens the door to endangerment/malpractice. Last time I brought in my girl, she was given partial sedation and a plaque treatment that I did not approve and was not even asked permission before hand about. That's pretty serious in my opinion. I felt violated. If I'd been there, or if they had just asked me, I might have understood or been able to stop it. Not okay. They also made me feel uncomfortable in the way they respond to my concerns. When I would tell them about things I was noticing about my pet, or about questions or concerns I had about things I researched on my own, I wasn't taken seriously and I felt like it was borderline they were internally rolling their eyes at me. They made me feel like I was overreacting. I'm the one who interacts with my pet every day. Not them. Everyone googles their concerns. Everyone! I don't see why it's such a huge inconvenience or annoyance to them for someone to try and inform themselves so they have some idea of what to describe to them that might be important. It felt very rude and unnecessarily negative. A year ago I brought our pet in because she wasn't eating for four days. She would eat but then vomit soon after so when I was having any success I brought her in. They ran tests and exams and charged me to say to just continue to monitor her because they didn't know what was wrong. I ended up taking her to VETMED emergency and they also did not know why this happened BUT they at least took action to give her fluids, and an appetite stimulant and she improved immediately. That seems like such a simple and obvious action to take. Why didn't companion do that? I was informed at VETMED that it is very dangerous for cats to go 2-3 days without eating. She was on 4 when I went in to companion. It is infuriating to me that they endanger her like that by not even offering a simple treatment like fluids or appetite stimulant but still managed to run expensive tests. I just had an in home visit with our new provider (Phoenix Mobile Vet) and it was very close in cost to an exam in office at companion. They also had very kind and amicable bedside manner, and fast turn around on in house tests. They listened to and heard me voice my concerns. I wish I'd switched sooner. Like any service, I'm sure it's not the same for everyone but these experiences felt so wrong and violating that I feel the need to share why I severed ties with them. They have provided adequate basic services in the past like vaccinations but I had to switch. Very uncomfortable here. read more

I don't think I've ever felt so comfortable taking a pet to the vet. We just moved to the area and needed a nonemergency vet visit for our aging dog. My aunt who is a vet tech at a local emergency vet recommending Companion Pet. We are always concerned about bumps and any discomfort with our 10 years old and 115 pound German shepherd so it's very stressful taking him to the vet. This was the second time he's gone here. The office remembered him and everyone was excited to see him which made him super happy. I trust the vet she is upfront and honest. She doesn't recommend anything unless it's absolutely necessary but will tell you all the options. After the great service and kind treatment we've had here we will never take our animals to Banfield again. I just spent $1,058 Monday June 17 for an echo cardiogram and labs. I was told the results would be in in 48 to 72 hours. I called after 72 hours and was yold the vet left me a phone message which I did not receive and was told the vet is out of town and a temporary vet will call me tomorrow with the results. In the mean time my dog is hanging in by a thread and with no results nothing can be done. By the time they get around to calling me and actually treating me dog she will probably not be alive. So if you want to throw away $1,000 by all means I recomend them as they will surely take your money. read more

Canelo had his first check up today with CPC. He's 6 months and due to COVID precautions I was not able to go into the office with him. But the staff made me feel really comfortable and Canelo really liked them also. The doctor called me on the phone and explained to me all that was happening. I was treated with such kindness and patience from the moment I called. Everyone from the Office Manager to the Tech to the Vet were so nice! Added bonus is that this place is so CLEAN! I'm not a germaphobe by any means, especially in a place where animals are coming and going all day. But I've been to some clinics that were def questionable. The staff are all absolutely wonderful here. They're all super welcoming and kind. I've brought all my dogs here for many years and have never had anything short of a great experience. Dr Young clearly loves his job and is always seen with a huge smile on his face! Most recently, my dog needed to have a couple of lipomas removed by Dr. Young. I was pretty nervous for the operation just because of my dogs age, but I couldn't have been happier with the result. He even found a smaller lipoma hiding below the large one and removed it for us. We just had our first visit this week and had a wonderful experience. We have been researching vets as our last dog passed away as our regular vet did not take our concern about symptoms seriously, did not answer our questions, and missed his Cushing's Disease. We had not had much luck for our new puppy until finding Companion Pet Clinic. Dr. Young took time to answer our questions, ran tests, and started a prescription diet. The front office is very friendly, has great advice, and is very responsive. They also have the prescription food in stock which is great as Chewy and pet stores are struggling to keep food stocked. I am so happy we are now going to Companion. It has been difficult to find vets who are empathetic and take the time to listen and I feel we finally found the right place. read more

When we moved to the neighborhood I needed to find a new vet. Found Companion clinic and thought we would try it out. We took our 3 yr old English bulldog in for a check up and his allergies. Dr Young was really helpful and gave us some information to help our Tugg out. Dr Young also made sure to to match my old vets price for one of the shots we needed for allergies which is pretty expensive. That was unexpected and really appreciate for sure! Although Dr. Young didn't do the surgery my little dog needed, he was very helpful when we were trying to figure out what was wrong with her. He always called me back right away if I had any questions or needed more pain meds for my dog. I went there trying to find a reasonably price, good vet clinic. It was neither. First of all, every single listing on the internet shows their old address - by old address I mean a year old. Luckily they had their old address on their voice mail since I initially called before they'd opened. Not sure if I'd spoken to them they would have told me their new address. When I came in I told the receptionist I was lucky I'd called or I'd have gone to the old location. I asked her if they had a web site and she said 'No, Dr. xxx is old school and doesn't believe in paying for a site" oooookay ?!?!? They can pay nothing for a site but I guess it's a bother. While this isn't directly medically relevant, it says something about the place. So I took our sick dog in who was throwing up and couldn't eat. The Dr. joked around a lot, too much. I have a sense of humor don't get me wrong, but I want him to fix my dog, not give me a standup routine. And it wasn't like I was down or crying or anything - not sure why. Prices were average - to - high. He did a VERY cursory exam, and seemed to only look at his teeth - nothing else !! He took blood, noticed a high white blood cell count, and slapped me with some antibiotics - pretty much the same thing as a typical lazy human doctor would do. I decided not to return , so I went to Phoenix Mountain Animal Hospital which actually has a web site, digital X-ray (for immediate results) and I'm staying over there (read the reviews for them). They found out WHY his white blood cell count was high and took care of it. I have no personal gripe with this place but just thought I'd share the experience. read more

My 2 big dogs (Sasha & Max) and I love Companion Pet Clinic! We mainly see Dr. Young, but we have also been seen by Dr. Campanile who is just excellent! Both veterinarians seem to really care about the pets they take care of, and they are very thorough in their exams (without the big price tag). Both Dr's have gone out of their way to help me - even when Sasha required special surgery, they were able to recommend a great specialist and they still followed up to make sure that Sasha was being taken care of - above and beyond what I would expect from my vet. I would not hesitate to recommend this place to anyone. I have been to several vets around the Valley, these are easily the most thorough and caring without being close to the most expensive and without constantly trying to up-sell, which most of the vets around me seem to do. read more

I've been taking my cat to this clinic with no issues. He purrs and everyone has remarked on how sweet he is. He's old and has a heart condition. We had an appointment to go for his 6 month checkup and do blood work and when we arrived they refused to take him in because he wasn't in a pet carrier. If they have a new policy in place, they should have mentioned it when they scheduled the appointment. Then the vet tech decided to argue with me and tell me it's always been their policy. No it hasn't--we've been here multiple times before and no one has ever said we needed a carrier for our cat. Instead of just taking our cat back to do quick blood work, she continued to argue with me and be quite condescending and rude. I actually had to cut her off and state TWICE that I didn't want to have an argument and that I'd just leave if they were unwilling to see us. I had to actually drive away to get her to stop arguing. I've rarely experienced customer service this poor before. It was absolutely ridiculous and we will never be coming back here. If they can't treat their customers with kindness, there's no way I'd ever want them "caring for" my cat. Avoid this place at all costs. Edited to add: their policy about a pet carrier has nothing to do with COVID-19. They had never reviewed this with ANY precious appointments as the owner claims. Also, the staff was incredibly rude while I was very calm and again, I only became curt in my responses when the staff wouldn't stop arguing with me after I asked them not to. I shouldn't have to tell a "professional" business like a vet to treat their customers with respect. Also, since I wasn't able to see a new vet because they're all booked out weeks in advance, my cat's congestive heart failure put him in respiratory distress 5 days later and he ended up passing the next day. This clinic is responsible for the death of my cat due to their lack of compassion over a pet carrier, which they absolutely could have found a workaround for. Don't let your pet die because of their negligence and and complete lack of customer service. read more

Dr. Young and his staff were fantastic when they helped our poor dog, Benji, who had been hit by a car. Based on an amazing phone consultation, we drove a considerable distance to have Benji's work done by Dr. Young and his team. They ran all of the precautionary tests and performed dental surgery (removal of a front canine) while I waited on site. Upon arriving, Benji was taken right in and did not have to sit in the waiting room (which makes him really anxious). Dr. Young talked me through everything he was going to do and then he proceeded to care for Benji. Needless to say, the surgery was successful! The stitches near the excavation wound are neat and Benji has been healing without any complications. It's been a week since the surgery and our dog is back to his usual tricks. I now have a sense of the pain he was masking since he is bouncing around like a puppy again (he is over 6 years old)! I am very happy we decided to go to Companion Pet Clinic and I recommend this place to anyone who needs top notch pet care! read more

This is the WORST vet I have ever been to. They told me my dog had worms, and when I took him to get a second opinion that wasn't true. They are all about money at this clinic and will charge you for anything and everything they can. They gave my puppy a medication that should have never been prescribed to a new puppy as well as insisted that he needed extra vaccines when he was 100% up to date. The vet preceded to tell me that my dog had an "allergic reaction" to said vaccine when I watched him have 3 previous ones no issues. Honestly it is unfortunate that I felt like this vet only wants your money rather than truly cares about the concern and health of your pet. read more

I can't say enough about this vet, in particular Dr. Young. I brought my senior American Eskimo mix dog in when he started having some heart murmur issues and other age issues. Dr. Young did all he could to keep costs down and treated my Van very nice. He also noticed my anxieties and made sure I was doing OK. Today I had to put my boy down. The care and concern made a terrible time easier to handle. The staff and Dr. Young showed so much compassion. I could not have made it through without them. read more

Some of the reviews prove that you can't please everyone, but I've been very pleased with Companion Pet Clinic. As a police K9 officer, I brought my service dog to the clinic when necessary. I've been taking my two pet dogs, Littledog and Allie, to Dr. Campanile for many years. I've always found him to be personable, thorough, and my 4-legged family members received good care. With a vet on every corner, I would not have continued to go to Companion for all these years - and recommend them to others - if I didn't believe in them. Are they cheap? I recommend this clinic highly! First they charge only for the first visit. Ihad a follow up visit and there was not charge for that visit. They really worked with me as I leave town for a month at a time and they assured me my cat sitter could direct them on issues with my cat. Dr. Young was GREAT, explained everything and when I called to get some more answers they were fast at responding and told me if I had other questions not to hesitate to call. my experience may not be typical - but I know when I'm cruising Yelp for feedback on anything from hair salons to happy hours - I want all the info I can get so here goes. We have had a young cat/old kitten, Riley, for several months now and she just started yowling like crazy day and night, rolling on the floor. putting her butt up in the air all the time with her tail to the side - so yes, you guessed it - we figured she was in heat. OK, she's in heat. BUT supposedly she was spayed!?! I had paperwork from the lady who rescued her originally (and then sold/placed her with some ASU students who thought they could provide a forever home, but only had her for about 7 months and then we found her through Craigslist cause they couldn't keep her). So anyway - I google google google, and I find out it's possible that when cats are spayed early they might have some left over ovarian tissue that was missed cause they're so tiny. I totally would have taken the cat to the Scottsdale Cat Clinic (which sounds amazing btw!), but Companion Pet Clinic had done the original spay and kitten vaccinations. And I ended up in this whole back and forth with the original rescuer and the Companion Pet Clinic. They agreed to do exploratory surgery on her for free since the spay didn't take and I felt silly insisting on taking her somewhere else just cause they had a better Yelp review. :) Well guess what? She was never spayed in the first place. Her records at Companion Pet Clinic showed she came in with a ton of other kittens (20?) and there was a question mark next to the word "spay". Also, because this was just a 'followup' visit (although I'd never been there, and Riley hadn't been there in almost a year) I never met the vet or anything. And frankly the woman was so busy at the front desk they didn't want to answer all my questions. After all the research I did online when I was shopping for places to take her for surgery I came up with just a few differentiators: laser vs scalpel (I still don't know what they use here, but it's one reason Scottsdale Cat Clinic interests me), pain management, and good pricing / efficiency for rescues. laser vs scalpel - don't know pain management - A++. They have a little sign at the sign-in desk saying they keep up with the best practices in pain management and that all surgery patients will go home with 4 days of medication. Believe it or not, but the *majority* of pet places don't do this. It's like in the bad old days when babies weren't thought to feel pain and were just circumcised or whatever without anything for pain. Ouch! If your cat is quiet and hiding somewhere after surgery it's because she's in pain! People seem to think this is a good thing (oh, then she won't rip her stitches cause she knows she's injured) - bah! that's terrible! Cats don't show pain by whimpering because in the wild that would mean sure death. And by the way - folks who don't medicate their animals after surgery - they heal faster without the trauma of feeling so much pain! So A+++ for pain meds at Companion Pet Clinic Good pricing for rescues etc - A+/F- - Ok, I'm sorry Companion Pet Clinic people, but I know you're great folks and you clearly help tons of rescues. But out of one group of kittens you know RIGHT NOW that two kittens were probably not spayed - one for sure which was mine! Laser or scalpel - exterior stitches or glue - whatever the differentiator - just *not* doing the surgery is a bad thing. And yes, the paperwork shows that a spay was paid for originally - just never completed. A+ for being cheap and nice to rescues. F- for not actually spaying them! read more

I found Companion because I drove by it and noticed the sign. It has a horrible location in a strip mall next to a smoke shop. (However, they are moving to 32nd st and Cactus over the summer into a nice new building). I called after driving by here because my dog had an ear infection. I knew she needed some wash and antibiotics for it, so I wasn't interested in driving all the way to her previous vet for something pretty simple. They got her right in! We showed up and it wasn't crowded at all. The receptionist was friendly, copied records, and treated my dog with a lot of love. This is really important to me. I mean, I love my dog to bits, so I enjoy when other people treat her extra special. It warms my heart. They have some bags of food and treats for sale around the lobby, so this kept her pretty content to sniff around while we waited (a short time) for our room. They even offered to let us go "right back", which I really appreciated, because sometimes I have both dogs and can't stand the anxiety of keeping them quiet and calm in a waiting room with other dogs and cats parading by! They get so excited and overwhelmed by that. This place has the best prices I have seen to date. The vet tech did most of the work and the Doctor just kind of observed. He was an older gentleman, seemed likable, and knowledgeable. He may have been training? I wasn't really sure, but it didn't matter because she feels better and they got her all necessary medications. She seemed content with the staff and this was a painless process! I typically dread the Vet. I hear they do some free rescue work here (spays, neuters and vaccines) , so I would recommend going to help keep this humble, yet loving and caring place in business to care for our furry friends. read more
