This company seems to be a scam. We rented a photo booth, and hours before the event, the owner, Jose, called to say that due to a family emergency, he won't be able to come himself but will send an alternative. The person showed up, but without an electrical cord for the photo booth, so they couldn't install it and were not able to make it work. The owner instantly confirmed a refund. Despite several emails and calls, the refund was never issued. Calling today, I got first hung up on, and now my calls get forwarded to the mailbox. DO NOT HIRE THEM! I hired them as a birthday gift for my sister's 60th birthday party. I had attended my friend's party and they were there taking pictures. I thought it would be fun to hire them for her party. First, the attendant that they sent was not dressed appropriately as a representative of their company. She had short, cut off shorts on. Then, when she wasn't busy with the party guests, she was busy taking selfies. The contract says I would get the online album link within 3 weeks. This Saturday will be 4 weeks and still no link. Additionally, shortly after this was resolved I received 13 back-to-back phone calls from one of their other customer service numbers(not the one I had been communicating with). The caller wouldn't respond to me answering and would sit silent until I repeatedly vocalized to them that I would withdraw my BBB complaint once I verified we could access the photos via the link they sent, after which they'd hang up. Found out it was them by *67 calling them back and getting their v.m. The attendant showed up to my Wedding and set up but I noticed he was the only vendor that did not approach me or my husband at all during our wedding. I will start this review by saying that I read all of the prior Yelp reviews prior to booking with Photo Booth Nerds & was very cautious/nervous about booking them as the reviews don't paint a very flattering picture of this company. I will also admit that some of my initial conversations with the reps at Photo Booth Nerds didn't give me a lot of confidence in their services...some seemed a bit lacking from a "customer service" perspective, almost as if I was talking to a used car salesman. However, after talking to Lisa Q, I felt much more comfortable working with Photo Booth Nerds. They ended up being great at accommodating our particular school event (& limited budget) and Lisa Q did a fantastic job customizing our photo strip to the theme of our event. Jude, who was our attendant, arrived on time and set up his photo equipment quickly. He was very accommodating & even helped us put up some of our school's dance decorations as we were running late & short on time. Jude actually stayed at our event which I wasn't expecting & was a pleasant surprise. He was very polite & extremely professional. I highly recommend him if you book with Photo Booth Nerds. My only other criticism of their services aside from some of my initial phone conversations is that some of the props they brought for the photo shoots seemed a bit on the "cheap" side (lots of them were paper props and the selection was quite limited). This could easily be rectified by investing a bit more $$$ in some better & more varied props that could even be found on Amazon for not much $. Net/net - despite some of the initial reservations I had and the reviews I read, I am really glad we booked with Photo Booth Nerds. In fact, there was another photo booth company I had also looked into and had better Yelp reviews than Photo Booth Nerds, but the other company never even called me back. We had a really positive experience with Photo Booth Nerds and am hoping that we can work with them again for our school event next year. In fact, a fellow chaperone who was at our event is also now reaching out to Photo Booth Nerds for different event she's coordinating based on our experiences with them. I really really wished I came onto Yelp before booking with this company (if it is in fact an actual company)... If I could give them NO STARS, I would! I found them on Groupon a month ago I called to make sure they had the date available like groupon suggested. They told me I didn't have to get the groupon they would give me the same deal or a better one with personalized prints and the background I want so I booked with them. I also confirmed over the phone that I could cancel if needed as the venue was still up in the air. They said no problem I can cancel up to 30 days prior to my event. We ended up going with a venue that wouldnt fit a photobooth, so I called to cancel. Spoke with someone and they confirmed my cancellation was a success, that I should expect a refund is 7-10 days and they'd send me a cancellation email. None of which has occurred. I called again once it had been a week with no refund and left a message and sent email to email address on invoice. Waited a few days. Now it's been over 2 weeks since I cancelled and I called again I was transferred to the "refund department". It then went to a busy signal. I called 5 times right after and now not to my surprise, no answer/goes to a message machine to leave a message. Are they coming to my event - who knows, but probably not as it looks like these are scam artists. I will also be making Groupon aware as they should never do business with them again and will personally see to it that this business is known for their scams/stealing people's money. Scam scam scam! Please don't book! I located this photo booth company on groupon chicago by the name of photo booth nerds. Groupon reviews were great (must have been fake) I followed the link to the website off of Groupon and made contact with the phone number listed on the website. After speaking with the subject, I decided to book with them. He advised me that I do not have to purchase the groupon and that they will honor the groupon price. After providing my credit card info they sent me a confirmation email. The next day I received a call from them telling me their car got broken into and the photo booths were stolen. They advised they would have to cancel my event and will issue me a refund, but never did. I called the company several times and did not receive a return call. I had to file a dispute with my credit card company to take the charge off. I also found an unauthorized charge on my credit card for a hotel on priceline in Chicago. It was booked while I slept a couple of days after I provided photo booth nerds with my credit card. Coincidence? I now know to check yelp first for reviews, even with groupon. This is an incompetent business with non-existent customer service. My husband attempted to book Photo Booth Nerds for our child's birthday party. It was $25 to hold the date and $200 total for the package we wanted. We paid the deposit for the $25. We wanted the contract before paying the rest of the balance, but we never receive a contract or email, then without authorization noticed that a charge on our card of $200, then ANOTHER of $100. In total we were charged $325, $300 was NOT AUTHORIZED and without a contract. We have made several attempts to speak to them and their supervisors, which have resulted in long holds, no return calls and now, no answers. We are willing to work with them but we can't even have a conversation with anyone. The only way we are able to get anyone to pick up our calls is if we call from our other phone lines/ work lines/ family phone lines. And the response is always the same, that someone will call us back because they "do not have access to our account". This has been frustrating and completely unacceptable. I am willing to amend this review once TOM or ANNA return our calls or reach out to me. Otherwise, I will have no other choice but to report this company to the Better Business Bureau. The attendant showed up at the same time of the event start and was laying tape as guests arrived after I was advised they would show up 30 minutes prior. Then the photobooth printer and machine wasn't working for over half of the event. The attendant was extremely polite and advised to just call and I would get a partial refund. After calling for almost an entire month and leaving messages - I finally was able to speak with someone and they advised that they would were sorry this happened and would be happy to honor the refund. They said they would call me back later that day. After hearing nothing from them for another week, I called and was advised that they would not be issuing any refunds and that they would give me a credit. Clearly, we would not wish to use this service again since they do not provide the service you pay for. So, with all the competition out there - I would advise to save your money and go to another professional establishment that fulfills their promises and completes the work agreed to.
