So much so that I have four of his black and whites up in my dining room. The first thing people notice when entering that room are the photographs. The first time I saw his work was at McLean Animal Hospital. He used to be a photographer with UPI and began working for himself. There were some postcards about the artist in the waiting room so I took one and got in touch. At the time I had a specialty retail store and I called to let him know he's welcome to display his work there. It added so much to the decor and feel of the place. He certainly wasn't the cheapest but he had the most impressive body of work. We hired him for our quinceanera, and did he deliver. My daughter unfortunately takes after her mother-inlaw. I could tell from the first response from her that she was the person I wanted to work with. I'm someone who is extremely detail oriented and she still managed to blow me away - her style guide of tips and tricks for the shoot for starters - and she was extremely flexible in my pushing my shoot back a few days so I could set up hair, makeup, the right outfits etc. once I had a chance to read her guide! She truly makes sure you are the best version of prepared before the shoot. She even recommended Carolyn Thombs (and other makeup/hair stylists etc.) in her guide, she was also amazing. There was a chance of rain the day of my shoot and she proactively reached out to offer an alternative location or a rebook. Thankfully the weather cleared and we didn't need either. I was nervous when I arrived but Rachel was calm, cool, collected and fun! She walked me through all the kinds of poses, walks, facial expressions etc. She has this down to a SCIENCE!! She even managed to make Union Station look glamorous and had so many amazing ideas that I never would have thought of. I've had the pleasure of working with Elyse on a number of photo shoots. Initially, she took…read morematernity photos and then photos of my newborn daughter. Ultimately, I happily used Elyse to capture my business. As a local small business owner, Elyse encouraged me to develop a branding strategy that would tell a story on my business website and social media outlets. I really wanted the photos to enhance my mission, but also show the real me! We worked in a professional studio setting where Elyse took hundreds of photos over the course of 5 hours. There was no rushing and I felt so heard! She did an amazing job of listening to what I wanted, while also suggesting ideas that would make my vision that much better. It's obvious Elyse puts a lot of time and hard work into delivering quality photos. During post production she clearly takes the extra hours to comb through the details-things that I wouldn't normally deem important (ie symmetry, complimentary colors, and proper lighting.) She is a perfectionist, so I trusted that she would take the time to make sure I'd be happy with the end result. One of the biggest differences between Elyse and most other photographers that I've worked with is this: she makes you feel super comfortable while guiding you on how to pose. As a woman this is so crucial because it's really difficult to find a flattering stance. I never know how to stand or smile! I also have a hard time just looking natural.
