Rather than tell me before I arrived or even after I arrived, I was told after waiting to be seen by the Dr that they didn't take my insurance. I could have been notified before I took an hour off work and driving time that my insurance wasn't accepted. I asked why my paperwork wasn't reviewed when received and was told that they do review it. I don't have any time off to waste like this and finally got upset enough to write this review. They should have reviewed my paperwork before I arrived so I could cancel the appointment. It did seem, based on statements made, that I could pay 100% out of pocket. Why in the world would I do this if I have good vision insurance? Just be honest and let me know as soon as possible that they don't take my insurance.

I had gotten my eyes checked elsewhere, but I had yet to find glasses and I didn't like the styles they offered at the optometrist. When I got inside, I noticed that there was hand sanitizer right up front and all the employees had gloves on as well. They did let me know right away that I was able to try on glasses and that the ones that I didn't like went into a sanitizing tray on each table so they can be properly sanitized before being placed back on the wall. I definitely liked the measures they took with ensuring everyone's safety amidst the pandemic! I ended up finding a pair of translucent glasses that I liked. They were priced for $95, so I was anticipating adding tax on and whatnot when I purchased them. But no! They were actually $95, including adding my prescription onto them! I opted to add the blue light protector (since I work in an office & spend 8 hours a day staring at a computer screen) and it was $50 more. I received my glasses in about 5 days later, and I went back for an adjustment (since the frames I got were a bit tight on my temples) and I ended up buying another pair, haha! I feel like they rush your eye measurements, and then pressure you into picking "the one that looks best" after you're clearly struggling to see either options. Just trying to get to the next patient. Then when I had to do a reexamination after my new power was just awful, they wanted to charge me for trying to see another doctor instead of the same one. I explained why I would rather have someone else, but it "would not count as a reexamination." So I went with him.. they called me several times trying to "remind" me to come in early. I figured I was the last patient and they probably wanted me to get there early so they could wrap things up.. which already made me feel this would be rushed. Again. (They want you to come in 15 mins early, no matter what, but the the amount of "confirmation" calls I got, emphasizing it, was surprising). I arrived early and there I overheard the doctor checking to see if the last patient, me, arrived (this was 20 mins before my scheduled appointment). So my feelings were correct. Finally, the doctor saw me and when I explained he immediately became defensive, and basically blamed me for the wrong power. After I explained that my old (2 glasses ago) glasses are clearer than the power he gave, he left the room with my old glasses, came back and said "okay I have your new power." I asked what did he do, he said he's using my old glasses as the power because "if it works for you why bother change it?" No rechecking or retesting. Just giving up, giving me my old power and quickly rushing to leave. I'll just have to deal with it for now. But I will not be returning to MyEyeDr again, anywhere. I need to find a proper optometrist next time. If you need simple vision corrections, maybe this will work for you. But if you need someone who will spend time with you, to make sure you get as close to correct as possible, these guys are not the place to go to.

I took them back to MyEyeDr 3/27/26 and the lady at the desk took the glasses to the back room. Came back and said she didn't have the right screws. Then she said since we didn't buy the insurance plan that there was nothing she could do for us. Then she asked if we wanted to purchase another pair for 40% off. Of course NOT. What terrible customer service. There glasses are more expensive than most places. The least they could do is stand by their product. I told her that I didn't not want to purchase anymore glasses and that they lost my business permanently. She didn't care at all! Not worth spending the extra money here, they don't stand by their products.

My 3 kids and I have been patients here since 2020/2021 so we've seen the staff change…read more First off, I want to gatekeep Dr Ma for all she's worth. LOL it's ALWAYS a pleasure visiting her. She's EXTREMELY kind and patient with my bajillion questions. I've only seen Dr Ma so I cannot speak about the other doctors. Prior to the staff changing, I only liked 2 staff members. Scheduling with them and getting pick up notifications weren't smooth. Some orders just weren't submitted. But I've previously worked in the medical offices (cardiologist and ophthalmologist offices in NY) to know how busy, demanding and overwhelming it could be. So I try to book in advance and be more patient & understanding ESP during pandemic months. When it came to problems, I would see that sometimes it was the previous staffs errors, and sometimes it were rude patients causing issues. Again, all of this is in regards to the PREVIOUS STAFF. But one day, I noticed the 2 staff members I liked both stopped coming in. I don't like change but I was crossing my fingers for a new efficient staff. So from the new staff members, I primarily received help from Charmayen, Shantera (I can't remember if I spelled it right) & Mya. LET ME TELL YOU THAT I WANT TO HOG THESE 3 STAFF MEMBERS ALL TO MYSELF! I love them. Absolute pleasure working with them. My insurance isn't so friendly with their software. But Charmayen waves her magic wand and gets me in and out super quick. She never brushes me over because it's more work. She takes the time to make sure I'm getting all the vision benefits and making sure I'm saving tons of money. Honestly they're such good people that whether it took hours or not, I wouldn't mind. Very caring, polite, funny, efficient ladies. I never had issues with them. They took the time to educate my kids as they started wearing contacts this summer. They were so patient while my kids were struggling to put the contacts in. I have ZERO complaints about the new staff. I do not call the visionworks general number nor book online. Whenever I'm at the store or in the area, I'll schedule with them in person WAY~ in advance bc I know how the medical facilities work. Again, I only had issues with the old staff. The new staff members are dolls. A lot of the customers now are really impatient and demand far more than needed. Idk if the new staff have issues with customers but to those visiting this location, please be patient and be kind to the front desk and workers.

I am writing this review to warn other customers, especially those using Medicaid or other vision…read moreinsurance plans, to ask very specific questions before agreeing to any exam or service. My son had an appointment for a routine eye exam and glasses. Before the appointment, Visionworks was aware of his insurance coverage and what benefits were included. After the visit, we discovered that a contact lens exam had also been performed and billed, resulting in additional out-of-pocket costs. My son's understanding was that he was there for a standard eye exam and glasses. He does not wear contacts and was not seeking contact lenses. Visionworks may claim that the service was discussed or authorized, but at minimum the communication was unclear enough that he left believing he was receiving only the exam he came in for. The frustrating part is that the contact lens exam fee is non-refundable. Had it been made absolutely clear that an additional service with an additional charge was being added, we would have declined it immediately. My advice to anyone going here: do not assume the exam being performed is only the one you scheduled. Specifically ask whether a contact lens exam is being added and whether it will create any additional charges. Get a clear answer before the exam begins. Whether this is an intentional business practice or simply poor communication, the result is the same: customers can leave an appointment facing charges for services they did not realize they were receiving. That should not happen.

I stopped into the store and asked if my insurance was taken and if so would I be able to set up an appointment. The lady that was working did her due diligence when checking if they took my insurance. I sat there for several minutes as she tapped away on her tablet, searching every way possible. In the end, after all her help, she wasn't able to take my insurance. (They actually probably could, but each place runs my insurance incorrectly and expect me to pay out of pocket and do the work to be repaid, that's not how insurance works, but I digress).

My friend told me that she purchases her eyewear from Costco and it is very affordable. I decided to come take a look and to my surprise it is very cost-effective compared to the optometrist's office. I came on a Friday evening and surprisingly it was sparse. Baby Jane was very warm and personable. She was very patient and answered all my questions, which I had quite a handful. My optometrist prescribed me with occupational progressive lens. Baby Jane explained the type of lenses that Costco provides and gave me a breakdown of the pricing. I also needed a second pair of glasses for nighttime driving. She informed me that there was a promotion that if I purchased two pairs, I could get $50 off. She helped me find pairs that were suitable for my slender face. I learned that each pair of eyewear has the size on it. That was something new and will be helpful to know when I make purchases in the future. Despite the bad reviews that I read online, I was very pleased with the prompt and friendly service that I received today. I will definitely be making purchases here in the future assuming that I am happy with my new progressive glasses.
