When I alerted the Brooklyn office - the same day - that the charge had been a mistake, they dug their heels in and absolutely refused to refund me the almost $500 charge. In the end, a manager in Manhattan was able to help me after I pointed out that I had been a loyal customer at W14 for years, but I don't recommend spending your money with SLT Brooklyn - apparently once they get your credit card number they think it's a free license to charge you huge sums and then tell you it's "against policy" to give refunds.

Holy F, that was one of the hardest fitness classes I've ever taken (58 minutes of pain). Since the merger, they've toned it down so it's more manageable (50 mins) and not as impossibly demanding on the spring loads and exercise length. SLT has pulled out of ClassPass, so full price is around what it costs for a high end workout like SoulCycle or Barry's. I take Lagree Fitness classes and love to try out different studios when visiting other places. I think the price is kind of steep for the workout - but sure, my demand is inelastic on vacation and they're about the only studios in the greater NYC area that offers the Lagree workout with little competition. There are more studios opening up in Queens and NJ though. While different style than the BBB days, it's still a proper Lagree class - lots of successive exercises on one side/muscle group for burnout, fluid transitions, pushing you to the muscle fatigue shaking point. I took class with Jason who is clearly an experienced instructor and designed an effective routine. The only thing I was iffy about was how he made some remarks about the previous class or clients at another SLT location not being interested in learning how to do the workout vs our class who were are more receptive to corrections and doing it right. I'll chalk this up to his passion and high standards that his clients should take it seriously. With our class Jason was very engaged, clear cueing, paid attention to clients, and was hands on. Started with core, then back to back obliques with one shoulder move to break it up, and finally the leg series (hi super lunge - it's my favorite!). The retail was also 70% off (Who'd pay full price $98 for a sweater? Nah. I definitely would - and did- buy it at the marked down $30). I would visit SLT and take the class again but knocking off a star for the price point and other caveats.

Parking in that area after 6pm is pretty easy since everyone basically clears out after work. There's metered spots in front and around the block until 7pm then it's free. Definitely recommend!

When the tiktok mentioned that it was "high intensity/low impact" I was sold and started to look for a place near me that had reformer, that was this place. I signed up for my class online and they had a first class special which I signed up for since they don't offer drop ins. They had other classes like springboard and barre, but I wanted to ease in with reformer. The class size for reformer was max 6 people. It was 30 dollars for a class. I arrived a few minutes before class started through cortelyou. The first room inside was more of a private space for personal training and someone was there. I walked through that to end up in the studio where I had my class. There is a bathroom and a seating area to wait. My teacher Tayler was great and I felt comfortable for my first time which was my biggest worry. It was not the type of class where the teacher would be doing the movement and you follow but they walked around giving instructions and helping someone get back to the right form. So if you are a newbie who likes seeing what others are doing for confirmation, I recommend taking a spot towards the middle of the studio. Tayler was there to help me get used to the machine and I didn't feel too lost overall. It truly felt low impact to me. Since I have a slight injury, having these kind of workouts are important. Everyone was kind and encouraging. The reason I knocked off two stars is because the cost of classes has nearly doubled, going from $25 to $35 to now $40!! I understand there is pressure from the pandemic, but this is 60% increase in price deprives the studio of its inclusive, community feeling, leaving behind yet another exclusive fitness studio. I enjoyed the diversity of my co-pilates and don't expect that I'm the only one who was affected by the price gouging.

The left side of the room is mellower and warmer than the right side because the door to the space is in the back right. The teacher Jeremy was super nice and has a positive energy that sets everyone at ease. Aside from a single bathroom, this location has no private changing area, so in cold weather it makes life simpler to wear an outer layer you can just step out of and be in your yoga gear. There are roomy lockers in the reception area, with built in combination locks where you can stow anything you are concerned about keeping secure. The gold standard for sauna is 180 degrees Fahrenheit. It struggles to even get to 160. It's often at 140. This is not acceptable for a sauna. I also despise when people have taken to making it into a steam room. It's f$&ckin stupid. So to members who read this. Stop with that. You want steam go to 92nd location, they have a steam room. The point is to heat your body up and get blood flowing heart rate up and recover. Sauna is not about just getting wet and sweaty. When the sauna was renovated about 2 years ago. You also got rid of the second level , why? Some people want to be up there and get hotter. Also why is the temperature sensor inside with the sauna heater. Is there a reason why it's placed there ? The sauna will never get hot enough. If the sensor is basically next to it. I remember the original sensor before the sauna was renovated was by door.
