I had talked to multiple contractors and a designer about working on my bathroom, but ended up not hiring any of them because they did not understand how important maintaining the Greene and Greene style was to me. Everyone wanted to rip out or alter the trim in some way. When I spoke to Nicole, I explained that the bathroom was a very specific style and that I wanted to rennovate while maintaining the original trim. She assured me it would be no problem for Oren and she was right I am glad I chose to trust Pine Tree DC with my project. They converted my tub to a shower, replaced the vanity, and added a coat of fresh paint, all while maintaining the trim that was dear to me. One of the challenges in my bathroom is the narrow space between the shower and the vanity. the vanity is perpendicular to the shower and I wanted it to be as wide as possible without overlapping the shower. Oren double, triple measured and told me just the right measurement to order the custom vanity in. It fit perfectly next to the new glass shower which is also just the right width. For the vanity counter, I really liked the look of counters that end flush with the vanity, but Oren warned me that it would be standard to have it protrude a couple inches to protect the vanity from water. After considering it, I decided aesthetically I preferred it flush with the counter and wouldn't mind being careful about water. Oren understood and built it the way I wanted. There were several things like this where let Oren how I would like something, he would explain the pros and cons, and then I was free to make an informed decision! This is absolutely the best, I really appreciate that Oren would help me make informed decisions but ultimately leave it up to me to make sure I would be happy with a bathroom built for me! Oren was also very detail oriented and would let me know if anything came up during construction that might impact one of my decisions, and sometimes I did change my mind based on the new information. Overall Oren was a joy to work with, a problem solver with a cool head, a collaborator that made things happen and understood my goals. I received multiple, very high quotes to replace the wood with Trex. Platinum replaced the entire deck plus replaced rotting and damaged support structures either missed or ignored by the previous construction company hired to replace the outer edges with Trex. The result is a beautiful, safe, maintenance free deck! Finally, I have a garden atrium at the entrance to my house. It was dark due to a heavy, stuccoed overhang. Nothing would grow around my large fountain. Platinum installed a huge outdoor skylight which completely transformed that area into a beautiful, lush garden. I was shocked by how efficient he was at coordinating the different subcontractors who installed the floors, cabinets, counters, tile backsplash, painters, etc. It was like a well oiled machine with almost no days where work wasn't being conducted, including Saturdays. My wife and I went into the process of looking for contractors expecting we could be without a kitchen for months. Turned out, with Palatin, the whole renovation only took about 4 weeks! If anyone has been through a major renovation, and had to get temporary housing, you know there is nothing more valuable than limiting the time away from home... except the quality of the work. Luckily, Palatin did not disappoint in quality either. We LOVE our new kitchen. The cabinets are great quality and look amazing. The counters are beautiful.
