Love Tile City. The showroom is huge, even intimidating at first. The selection is fantastic and no matter what you're looking for, they have several options of it. We did our fireplace, kitchen backsplash, bathroom floor, shower wall, master bath floor, master shower floor, master shower wall, and master shower soap box. EIGHT different tiles. Tile City was amazing in their help. Heidi and Debbie were great at assisting us in the Showroom. Both we eager to help and they gave us options in the style/color we were looking for. Really helped out. Jon at the warehouse was great. We had to get more tile after our initial order and also return some tile as our contractor miscalculated some of the tile we needed. He was very helpful along the way and got us a refund on some of the extra tile. I would highly recommend Tile City to everyone. Dishonest business go to Buena Tile and Stone. At first the service was pleasant and the all fees agreed upon. I was told that the products I ordered would be here in 3-5 days. Problem #1, it took 7 days and only part of the order came in the rest was back ordered for 4 weeks. Problem #2, I gave the dimensions of my bathroom floor and Tile City ordered 15 16"x16" pieces of tile for a 60 x65 bathroom. The 16x16 tiles were actually 15.75" which made the order short by 3 inches all around. So I had to order more tile because of their miscalculation. The tile I ordered was $65 the delivery fee was $105 making the total price $170. Problem #3, I picked up the order along with the back ordered tile. The warehouse person, John, assured me that both orders were on the palate. I get home the back order tile was not there. I called John, he investigated and said he needed to find the tracking number. Ooops, he discovered he had them all along but for me to pick them up is going to cost me another $76.00 delivery fee. I called up the owner and told him the story and asked him to waive the $76 delivery fee, he refused and hung up on me. read more

I've completely remodeled 2 homes and I've used Tile City for every project. Debbie, Heidi, and the rest of the team are all very knowledgeable and they've helped us find the perfect tile every time. Picking tile is hard - there are so many options to consider - and people often get stressed out with the decision process. This may explain some of the negative customer service reviews on here, but I've never experienced this. I recognize everybody in the showroom is struggling with design choices so I'm patient. I see the same from the team working there. They will jump from person to person (as they should) and it gives me time to think about their suggestions without tying them up. Once you've decided what you want, they translate your measurements into exactly how much you need of each piece. The prices and shipping time is reasonable. I highly recommend them! read more

The main woman behind the counter (I don't need to use names because anyone shopping there knows) is so rude it's not excusable. Even though I have tried to make excuses for her to others. Just her personality, blah,blah,blah. No longer, there are way too many other tile places who treat their customers with respect. I admit I was lazy to ever go back and actually buy anything from them but I will never do that again. My wife went in today to look at some tile samples. Two salespeople in the shop and they spent the entire time she was there (20 minutes) talking to one customer (an interior designer) and never acknowledged the fact that she was in the store. I have been an interior designer for 32 years. I have purchased from Tile City since I moved to the Conejo Valley in 1997. I'm fairly certain I am one of their best customers and for good reason. The staff, especially Debbie and Jean have made my projects run smoothly and efficiently. They have always been extremely helpful and pleasant and efficient. I am a Decorator living and working in the Conejo Valley. I regularly shop at Tile City with clients because their displays are well-curated and organized, they provide work tables to layout ideas, and their staff is friendly and helpful when I need it. The showroom is kept current by the manager, Debbie, both in terms of style and everything on display is available. There is nothing more frustrating than specifying a tile that is discontinued or out of stock and having to start all over with a disappointed client, which happens often other places. I appreciate the staff's responsiveness to pricing and shipping inquiries. Whenever there has been vendor issues with an order, Debbie has always been transparent and fair. Recent improvements to the showroom, including the tv/media images, are helpful. My only points for improvement are that the lighting is challenging and the store can be understaffed at peak times, particularly Saturdays, which I try to schedule around. They just seem so uninterested, even irritated like they hate what they are doing for a living which is probably the case. I'd been to this place once before and today, against my better judgment, I went there again. I'd hoped the first time was a fluke. The first time, service from the women was deplorable. This time, even though I was approached by a male associate and thought perhaps my luck would change, oh no. Exact same thing. Laughably deplorable "service." We have six bathrooms that need tile and we're adding a seventh. We're starting with our master. The sales associate barely listened to what I was saying (although he thought he did) and his unprofessional tone and immature communication warned me this would be another poor experience. Once I realized he was not truly listening to me or understanding, to get him out of my hair I told him to give me a few minutes and come back and check on me. 15 minutes passed and no surprise, he never did--he was too busy gabbing to the other bored sales associates at the counter, and I walked out. I had to walk back in briefly to get something my daughter had dropped and still, no word from anyone. I had to laugh as I left because seriously, worst customer service ever! We will find some gorgeous tile for our seven bathrooms, but certainly not here. read more

I have used Tile City for as long as I can remember. I believe strongly in supporting Small Business. I purchased tile from them and the next day I found the exact same tile on the Internet for a much lower price. I went back into the store and they said they could not match the Internet price but that they would give me their "Contractors Rate". I agreed. When my project was completed, I went back to the warehouse with a brand new unopened box of extra tile. They told me they would NOT return it because it was past 30 days. Really? I understand those are "your rules" and you are entitled to them but they sure are NOT customer friendly. I felt stupid for supporting Tile City to begin with since they were so unsupportive to me. Not sure if they are the cheapest, but it doesn't matter considering the choice of materials and their facilities. They will get what you need, when you need it. Must haves: 1) Go at off times if you need special attention. Otherwise, go and explore. It is an inspirational space. 2) Be open and adventurous. You happen to have a big reptile enclosure and you need tile for substrate? DON'T come to this store unless you want to get weird looks. You aren't very familiar with the types of tile or what they look like? Prepare for weird looks. Don't know what porcelain tile looks like? Prepare for WEIRD looks. This is what customer service is all about. I walked in today an hour before closing and I said I need 3 bathrooms to be remodeled. I have some inspiration pictures but absolutely no clue as what I need. A gentleman and and a lady both came to rescue . They pulled samples after samples and showed me several samples that was almost exact match to my picture. They were both very professional and patient with me . This is the second or third time I have visited Tile City in Thousand Oaks, hoping for more friendly salespeople. Each time, I have been disappointed and gotten the impression that unless you're a designer or doing a major remodel (i.e., lots of $$$ involved), you're not going to get great customer service. If you're a DIY type or doing a small project and want some feedback, ideas, and help, the ladies don't seem to have much patience; they have bigger fish to fry. This store is open to the public, but the attitude is more like those that sell "only to the trade." Overall, just has a snooty vibe. Stay Away from Tile City in Thousand Oaks! Based on their rude and obnoxious attitude . They are not deserving of even one star based on lousy customer service and their selection is NO better then any other stores out there. I went into the store today to give them a 2nd chance after having a terrible experience last year while looking for porcelain wood look floor tiles for our entire home, marble tiles and stack stone for kitchen and one of our fireplaces and bar. I was so turned off by how rude this salesperson name Heidi was last year that I walked out of the store. Today , Heidi was the only one on the sales floor besides a lady who told me she doesn't quote product. Today I was looking at some tiles for a Master bathroom remodel that begins on March 1st. I mentioned to her that I'm trying to keep the wall tiles down in price. I took a tile plank off the wall and brought it over to the desk. I asked her, "how much is this per square foot"? Heidi said, " it's TOO EXPENSIVE for YOU! Then she RUDELY said, " This is a Designer Showroom and you aren't going to find BARGAINS here!!!! OMG I let Heidi know on no uncertain terms that I wouldn't spend one dollar in this store when I can go anywhere and be treated graciously! I reminded her that she was the person that was RUDE to us last year and I haven't stepped foot back in this store since then. MY bad for giving this place a 2nd chance! Who the HELL does she think she is? Just a lowly employee with a terrible attitude and knows nothing about courtesy! The one thing you can't fix in life is STUPIDITY! Heidi is all of that! Do not shop here! I spent at least an hour and a half picking out tile. The older male salesman wrote up my order. I went back to get a sample of the tile. I am extremely troubled by the poor service regarding their exchange policy. I bought tile and didn't use 2 boxes brand new not opened and they wouldn't return my money. The product was NEVER used. Unfortunately I agree with some of the other reviews. No one greets you when you enter and they ignore you until you ask for help. Then they (at least the two women) seem like you are bothering them even though you're the only customer in the store. Maybe it's different if you know what you want but they do not seem like they want to help someone shopping for new tile. I'll be going elsewhere. read more

Fantastic customer service and great line if products. I bought numerous products from them during our remodel. We had returns and a color matching issue when I ran out of limestone. They helped me find the exact lot thr original stone came from to complete my project, on the. same day, turning on a dime. read more
