We are members and visit Picchetti a few times a year. We have always loved how family friendly it is, and have enjoyed many relaxing afternoons as a family picnicking, and enjoying the sunshine with a bottle of wine. However, on our most recent visit, things were over the top. A family was hosting their child's birthday party on the lawn, with a bubble lady with a microphone surrounded by 8-10 kids under 3. Needless to say, it ruined the relaxing winery vibes. Bring your kids, but leave the bubble lady and microphone at home! read more

If your idea of a lovely afternoon is a hike followed by a wine tasting, look no further. This is a beautiful, quaint winery right next to some awesome hiking trails. My very first time visit to San Jose and while stopping by at the information booth at San Jose ( SJC) Airport, a kind lady that worked that day gave us some wonderful advice, she mentioned this winery. Picchetti Winery, which was so close by to the hotel we were staying at in Cupertino. It is really only known to locals, when we arrived at Pichetti, one of the staff who gave us information about Picchetti, asked us, "how did we find out about Pichetti?" I guess he was surprised to see non locals visiting Pichetti that day. The drive to Picchetti was nice, there is also access to open space hikes at trails nearby. My bucket list when I am in shape, I would love to do the hike. I noticed the fun sign in front, " Slow, Adults at Play",which I had to snap a photo with my other half. Picchetti Winery, started in 1880s is one of the oldest surviving wineries in California. Picchetti offers a variety of award winning wines. Picchetti wines are only sold here at this Winery. Besides the wine tasting, special bonus during my visit was seeing the beautiful Picchetti Peacock. What a very nice experience at Picchetti, my husband and I have to admit we were buzzed from the wine tasting, We got the build your own tasting flight of five wines for 15.00 +tax. The wines we chose were very nice, smooth and strong. That is some good stuff right there. If I were to move, I would move here just so I can be close to this winery, I can join the wine club and be a regular too!! haha, overall wonderful experience here, I definitely make a stop at Picchetti again. This is by far the best winery I've ever been to! The family members work in the winery and we were fortunate to have one of them serve us. They allowed us to have an extra sample to be able to try the ones that we wanted to. Everything was outstanding and we left with quite a few bottles of Angelica to take back to Canada. Would highly recommend this winery for the wine, the customer service and the peacocks outside of the winery! Romantic place to be to spend your lazy afternoon in the sun. There is a big lawn area and kids/dogs can run around. Picnic ground is hugh and beautiful. Wine is ok. Not Napa level but this is Silicon Valley. Everything cost more. Would recommend coming with a nice picnic basket and get some wine to pair it with. Olives, pancetta ham plus few crackers and you will have a wonderful time. Not recommend for those with knee scooter or high heels. Hard to walk on uneven surface. read more

I love to bring friends and family to this place. I had been first introduced to this gem well over 10 years ago. I went up to the location nestled in the hills of Cupertino in the Santa Cruz Mt range This nice little pocket is the same range that goes up all the coast from Santa Clara County to San Mateo County. A few weeks ago, I took a few of my cousins up there to check out the winery They loved it so much, they did 3 tastings and joined the wine club. SO there you go! It is an awesome place with great wines and a wonderful inviting atmosphere. They have picnic tables on the grounds where ones can enjoy the wines and food that you can bring in a basket filled with snacks or lunch. They do not serve food on the grounds. So I went back up today with a friend. So for 15.00, you can have a tasting of 5 of their wines. As I have sampled them in the past, I just decided to let them enjoy the tastes and I would wait for them outside. We had some food we brought, so it lent for a nice day outdoors. I brought one of my 2004 vintage Angelica wines from the winery which we opened with our early Brunch/Lunch. This place really surprised me! My boyfriend and I came across it on a whim! When we arrived we were lucky to find parking right away but saw some people circling. Highly recommend carpooling if you plan to go with a group. There is a large outdoor area with picnic tables around the edges by the trees. Most of the tables are covered in shade but seem to fill up pretty quickly. We wanted to check out this place because of the reasonable wine tasting cost and the two hiking trails that are connected to it. We did not do the hike but would like to next time. The tasting room is very cute and is actually the original building from the 1800's. I believe Isabelle said the winery began in 1855? I could be wrong. But the new owners took over sometime in the later 1900s. So it was cool to see the original doors, bricks, and other details of the building. The tasting room did have AC which was nice. The tasting itself was nice and we were able to try everything on their tasting menu because we strategically planned it out and shared. The wine was good but the port really wowed me since I'm not into dessert wines. It was very light and refreshing. You are able to take your time during the tasting and take it outside. Once you are ready for the next one you walk back into the tasting room and are able to ask any associate to pour you the next. Your tasting is kept track of on a piece of paper. The overall experience was nice and I would definitely come back again. It seemed very family friendly and I recommend people to check it out! My only tiff is that the price per bottle is a tad high. So since you aren't allowed to bring your own drinks, you have to purchase it from the winery which makes sense. But be prepared to spend about $35+ for 1 bottle. It is good wine but there was only a couple I really liked. But I still recommend to come come give this place a try or at least go for the $20 tasting! read more

Wow, this place is so busy! It was pretty hard to find a spot; even their overflow parking was all taken. I can see why this is such a popular place. I saw a ton of people picnicking, and they allow you to bring your wine tasting glass outdoors. For $20, you get 5 tastings. And if you buy a bottle, you get 10% off! I really liked all of the wines I tried here - they have such a big mix, including a sparkling red! The workers are all friendly and easy-going. And there is a hiking trail right on site! read more

The Picchetti Winery is conveniently located in Cupertino and I had a great time! My friends and I hiked the Zinfandel trail first before settling in the cozy tasting room. For $15, we were able to build our own wine flights at the bar area. The lady supplying the pours was nice, but it was slightly obvious that people next to us got significantly more generous pours lol. Oh well, still fun to try five different wines in moderation. I thought the peacock walking around was really cool too... until it darted under the fence really quickly and scared the crap out of me! We met up with some friends here on a Saturday morning. This was prior to the pandemic. There is a decent amount of parking and a nice picnic area. There are picnic tables and a grass area. We brought some food for our picnic and did some wine tasting. The wine tasting was very informative and we bought a few good bottles. They provide you glasses to use when you purchase their wine. If I recall correctly they take your drivers license in exchange for some wine glasses. It is a very relaxing place to enjoy some food and their wines. My favorite winery of all time! Picchetti has a variety of different wines for everyone that are all incredible. I enjoy wine tasting and have had wines from all over during my travels in different parts of the world and I can still say that their wine remains my favorite. I especially like the Chardonnay, the red pavone, Syrah, zinfinandel, cissault, and the dessert wines they offer. The staff are always incredible and knowledgeable about the wine. I've had such great conversations with staff while wine tasting. This winery also sits on hiking trails so we will occasionally go on a small hike and have a brunch afterwards outside with the wine tasting. I always love coming to Picchetti! The barn, which is home to the tasting room, is rustic yet still so beautiful. The string lights draped across the tasting room ceiling create an intimate and fun environment. Their tasting menu is massive, which can make a wine lover or indecisive person a little stressed, since you have to pick 5 of about 15-20 wines. But, it is great to have all of the options available to you, and be able to customize your own tasting. Pro tip - end your tasting with the port and you will get a piece of fudge to enjoy with it! The service every time I've visited has been great. The tasting room associates are knowledgeable, friendly, and try to connect with you. The picnic grounds are the perfect space to enjoy a post-tasting bottle of wine and snack. There are plenty of tables, but you are also able to bring a blanket and sit on the grass if all are taken. Tables are available on a first come first serve basis, so you will want to get there early on a busy weekend. Most tables are shaded, but a few are in the sun. The grass is mostly in the sun, so while it's great for the cooler months, it's not the best spot on a hot summer afternoon. If you are lucky you will see peacocks roaming the grass and trees in the area. I have never visited and not seen a peacock. read more

This winery is super cute! I'm no wine expert, but I thought there wines were good. The have a sparkling red, which is not something I have ever had before, but it tasted great. The tasting room is in an old building and very cute with string lights and a long counter to taste at. The employees are super friendly and attentive, happy to give recommendations or leave you be to enjoy the wines. Outside there are a lot of picnic benches and chairs to relax in the shade or sun, bring a picnic (they don't serve food), and drink some wine. This place has a really chill vibe, perfect for a sunny day outside. We signed up for the wine club, and it's honestly worth it! For around $80 you get two bottles of wine per quarter and a free tasting for up to 4 people each month (the tasting alone is $20). Happy Review #1800! Dedicating this to a recent post-fully vaccinated reunion with friends and wine. Who knew that there was a wonderful winery located here in Cupertino? They say Picchetti is more local than other wine spots in Northern California. I believe it, and that's what really made the experience so wonderful this last visit. My friends are wine club members and suggested we spend a Sunday morning here sitting at their picnic tables, enjoying food that we brought in for our charcuterie board, and sipping on their bottles of wine. There's also small hiking trails that surround the winery that are accessible before their 11:00 opening, so you can burn some time and prepare to picnic. Once the gates opened, the picnic tables get taken quickly. It's definitely advisable for you to get here early with your party to snag a table. Otherwise, you may find the summer heat to be too much once day breaks. For us though, we were lucky to grab a far table close to the ranch where they sell their wines, and proceeded to have an amazing picnic out (with shade from the trees) for a few hours. The wines here were nothing short of spectacular. I enjoyed their rose the best but you can't go wrong with their reds or whites either. Bottles came chilled in an ice bucket and plastic glasses to pour. Unfortunately, they still aren't offering tastings due to the pandemic but it's much more worthwhile to purchase some bottles anyway for the table. Very much enjoyed both the indoor barn setup with cute lights and decor as well as the outdoor seating scene, both lively with people but not over crowded either. Wine was fantastic. Went for a hike at Picchetti Ranch Preserve and the "Zinfandel trail" trailhead starts and ends at Picchetti Winery. It's a great 4 mile (up and back) trail. When you get back to the winery you can enjoy a nice glass of Picchetti Pinot. It's a lighter Pinot and nice on the pallet. It's not heavy which is nice since you just finished a hike and a heavy wine might not be what you are looking for. You can picnic at the winery. It's got shaded picnic areas, recycling, trash and bathrooms. There is also a small lawn to sit on if you prefer grass to picnic tables. Picchetti will even provide wine glasses if you buy a bottle or glass and leave your ID as collateral for the glass. A picnic with wine is always a nice way to end a hike. It's also a nice change of pace if you usually just hike and head home like I do. My friends and I really enjoyed the wine and atmosphere of this winery. My favorite winery in the Bay Area! My parents have been members here for years and any wine I've gotten to try from here has been delicious. I finally went for a tasting room and it was so fun! First off, the room is so rustic and beautiful. We had Smiley as our sommerlier and he was hilarious and described the wines with so much detail and passion. I ended up taking some wines home and the bottles are BEAUTIFUL. Makes a great gift. The two most surprising wines from the tasting was the sparkling zinfandel and the full bottle of the port (never seen either, but both were so delicious). I have been a member at Picchetti since I moved to South Bay. The ambiance is casual and family friendly, with people bringing their families and lunches to eat on picnic tables outside. The winery is located in the mountains by hiking trails- its truly a beautiful spot. Lastly, the wine is outstanding. My favorite are the reds, such as the Pinot Noir! But you really cant go wrong here. I've tasted almost all the wines available this past year and they have all been of high quality, even the dessert wines and whites which I usually don't like. Seemed like there were two parking areas: one for the trail and one for Picchetti. Upon entering, you check in at the cashiers as the pourers don't handle transactions. We shared a flight of 5 wines of your choice for $15. If you decide to purchase a bottle, you get $5 off with proof of tasting. We liked the Zin, but it was pricey at $65 so we got the bubbly Zin instead. This was the first time I've come across brut Zin and it was refreshing for a warm day. Winery closes at 4 PM, but the space is open until 5 PM. Didn't catch any peacocks, but hope to see one next time! read more

I had a great experience at this winery. While it is not high end nor necessarily fancy, it is the perfect family friendly, casually place. Tastings are only $20 for an entire 5 glass flight and you can choose any selection of whites or reds on the menu. My favorite was the 2018 Mission Angelica Dessert Wine. The reds (particularly the Malbec) were wonderful as well, and I am not a fan of red. Outside, you are welcome to bring outside food and have a picnic, however the tastings only take place inside. The staff are incredibly friendly and are very well rehearsed on the wine varieties. We arrived a day after they received a shipment of grapes from Napa, and we were given some to sample! We came here Saturday afternoon around 2:30pm. It was packed! But we were able to find a table or two outdoors. Some people were tasting inside the tasting room but most people were picnicking and drinking outside. It was very nice and sunny weather. We did 2 tastings ($20 each) between the 4 of us and decided to buy 2 bottles to enjoy with our charcuterie platters that we brought. There's a lot of wines to choose from: 1 Sparkling, whites, and reds. We tasted outdoors on the side wall of the tasting room. The Chardonnay we liked costed $70 for a bottle and that was way too costly. So we resorted to the white pavone. It was ok. I can't remember what the red wine we bought was since I didn't drink any...great place to bring family. Allows outdoor food. But one downside is there's only 2 restrooms! So you will need to get in line every time you have a feeling you need to use. Don't wait until you cannot hold it! read more

If going to the winery only, you can go past the sign which says private residence and park inside. Picchetti is a charming winery and tasting room situated on the Midpeninsula Open Space Reserve. I've spent countless birthdays, get-togethers, picnics and dates with friends here over the past decade... and it's the only wine club membership I've stuck with over the years. Our first stop is usually WFM or Trader Joe's to pick up snacks, then to Picchetti for a tasting before opening a bottle or two to enjoy a picnic on the lawn. The staff are so wonderful, and treat you like family. I always enjoy their wines, and their menu changes with the seasons so it's nice to try new wines and revisit old ones. It's certainly gotten more crowded over the years. Grabbing a picnic table and parking can be a bit tricky if you go during prime time on the weekends. For us, it is well worth the drive and we have nothing but a great time once we're there. read more

Went here on a Saturday around 2 pm. There are parking spots on the property and nice casual seating area, picnic tables outside. Plus there is a hike trail if you are interested! The wine tasting itself was good. For $20 per person you could taste 5 different wines from their collection. One additional tasting was served as a first time comers welcome to us. The indoors of the wine tasting room ( which looked pretty antique) are cute, with string lights and a long bar where we were served by enthusiastic staff. We took our wine glass, roamed around and sat outside in the sun and returned for our next one when we wanted. They had given us a paper where we chose which ones we wanted to taste and they would strike them off once we were done to help keep record. I am no wine expert but I liked their 140 year old Cabernet. The rose dessert wine was too sweet for my liking. Feather on the cap - they had two beautiful peacocks outdoors that everybody took pictures of. These peacocks were not human shy and were definitely used to people taking pictures with them. We had gone there pretty late ( as they close by 4 pm and outdoors close by 5pm ).
