My daughter had guest played with the 09 team during the season, she disliked Coach Brendan Johnsons coaching style and how unmotivated the girls on the team were. So my daughter decided to tryout with SA City and she made the decision to move to SA City next season. My daughter informed Coach Seferino that she would be moving to SA city next season, SA City had no issues with my daughter finishing up the last 2 events for the current season with SA United. However, my daughter received a text from Coach Seferino stating this his "Bosses" decided she could not attend the last 2 events of the season with the 08 DPL team, no reason was given. I emailed Coach Brendan, DPL Director of the girls teams, requesting a call to discuss their decision however he declined to pick up a phone and discuss the decision. This did not surprise me at all as Coach Brendan is a spineless individual who lacks leadership and organization. Based off his 09 DPL team this season, he crushed the love of the sport for many of those girls. Brendan was known for yelling at the girls however provided no constructive feedback on how to fix their deficiencies. Many of the girls from the 09 DPL team chose not to return next season or stop playing all together. Once again I received no phone call discussing the clubs decisions, I had already paid $2300 for the last event of the season which was in MN so I had to cancel all bookings. This speaks volumes regarding leadership at SA United or lack there of. Highly advise anyone looking for a girls soccer club team to reach out to Classics Elite, SA Athenians or SA City, any club other than SA United.

After paying over $2,500 in registration fees + $600 for uniforms, you'd think that would be it, but no. Since it is a club that travels to other cities, we have to cover the travel expenses for the coach to include gas, food, and lodging, plus any tournament entry fees. When you arrive at GVTC in Bulverde, you'll be shocked by the field conditions, parking conditions, and utter lack of restrooms (Port-O-Pots), and no refreshment stand. I don't even think they have water fountains. There is little to on shade and zero seating, so bring an umbrella, folding chairs, and a cooler for snack and drinks. You may also want to drive a lunar rover as negotiating the traffic loop around the fields should be training for astronauts. That's enough for the facilities. As for my son's coach, Laurence O'Toole. I don't know if he read the job description before applying for the position, or not. I think he missed the fact that he'd be "teaching," "coaching," young teenagers and not an international FIFA World Cup team. He demeans, belittles, and insults the players. When the kids don't perform up to his outrageously high expectations, during a game or tourney, he gesticulates wildly, screams at his players, and basically throws a tantrum the likes of which we haven't seen from our son in a decade. I've always thought the parents had the potential to be the worst on gameday, O'Toole has proven otherwise. Our son is struggling to keep motivated about soccer. He dreads practice and on occasion has cried on the way home from the verbal and mental abuse. In the past, we have told him to never quit because the first time you do will make quitting the next time, easier. In this instance, I have told him if he wanted to throw in the towel, I'd understand and support him. But he refuses to quit, which makes me proud of him, but intensifies the hurt I feel seeing him go though this. No young teen/kid/child should have to endure mental anguish, just to play a sport they love. If you find yourself with O'Toole as your child's coach, I wish you the best of luck. I honestly believe this coach would find a way to verbally abuse some of the greatest soccer players of all time. If I could go back, knowing what I know now, we would have taken a hard pass on SA United. We're still mystified about how the $2,500 in fees were spent!

This is one of my top three fav mud runs I've ever participated in!…read more Warrior Dash 2015 the weather was NOT kind but it made it all the more fun! It was POURING all night and all morning making the mud run course super sloppy and super fun (more on that in a minute). The rain also caused a huge mess (pardon the pun) with parking. Cars were getting stuck in the mud, traffic was backed up for miles. But Warrior Dash handled it all like pros! Constant twitter/email/facebook updates were sent out keeping racers in the know. They also allowed those who were late because of said issues to run in other corrals, all that coming together to show a team that knew how to handle adversity and keep their runners happy in spite of it all. The obstacles were absolutely a blast! Crawling, climbing, sliding, swimming they threw everything at us and it made for all the better and more challenging a course. Weather conditions insured we were super duper dirty n trashed when we finished, but hey-it's a mud run, you should have known what you signed up for! I could go on and on about how much I enjoyed this race but I think the biggest compliment I could say to back all this up is I am registered to run their 2016 race. See ya next weekend!

I liked that it was off road, and didn't really know what to expect. The trail goes up and down and all around. It's definitely not flat, and has some pretty good downhill and uphill spurts. The obstacles were not as scary as I had built up in my head. They were doable, and people of all sizes and different fitness levels were completing them. The obstacles have you climbing walls, crawling through mud, jumping fire, swimming out to rafts, and going down a large water slide. The number one thing I can guarantee is that you will get dirty. I was the dirtiest I have ever been in my life. They have multiple waves of runners going throughout the day, as to help keep the track from getting congested. I jogged and ran the majority of the trail. Most people seemed to be walking it. It does get hard to run in wet, muddy shoes, which did result in some blisters. But an Epsom salt bath afterwards helped clear that up in a couple of days. The music from the base camp is loud and is nice to hear along the track as you are running from obstacle to obstacle. The wait for the shower at the end is as long as it took to complete the run. I wish they chipped you though and told you your finishing time. That is the one thing I missed. They had a great bag drop off, and changing area. It's nice that they have the shirt and hat pick up for the end so you don't have to carry it with you. Price of the run also includes a free beer if you feel like it. There was plenty of well organized parking, and they allowed dogs in the waiting area. Overall a fun laid back event. People were helping each other and were not pushy or aggressive.
