I love to buy crappy cars and make them suck less, yes I do. I am also not filthy rich, so I can't let this hobby of mine break the bank. So what do I do? I get up early and drive my butt to Pick-N-Pull to salvage parts off their inventory. You can check their website beforehand to see if they have the vehicle you're looking for in inventory and what row it is in. Trust me, you're going to want to get the row number. The selection is ok, at least for light duty trucks. Lots of Fords and Toyotas. Don't expect to find an engine or a transmission. If they are decent, they are pulled right off and sold. This goes for pretty much any car yard! The yard is pretty big. Be prepared to walk a ways with your tool bag. They do offer a free shuttle that drives around the yard every so often if you're willing to wait for it. Your bag will be checked for parts which you are not allowed to bring in. It's a car yard. It's dirty. It's dangerous. You get to see the beauty in salvage and you do your part not letting these old vehicles go to waste. I love it.

I came here for parts for my 2003 dodge Ram 1500 that I just bought. They had SOOO MANY trucks to look at parts for. I found almost everything I was looking for. Highly recommend!!

If you're lookin' for an awesome guy thing to do on the weekend, then head on out to Pick N Pull. It costs $1 per person to get in, but you get to browse acres and acres of junked cars. If you see something you need (or just want) just break out your tools and take it! Just make sure you pay for it on the way out. Great place to buy used parts - good variety too.

Megan was great! Only $1 to enter and to explore many cars on their lot! So worth the drive!

Hands down the worst yard I've been to in 25 years if wrenching. Prices are ridiculous and…read morenon-negotiable. Inventory is extremely inaccurate, and the yard is an absolute disaster. They don't even pull the wheels off, but they pillage all the trunks so there's no lug wrenches floating around. Several of the cars with wheels still on are not even stabilized properly to make wheel removal safe. Every time I think it might be worth the time savings of stopping here instead of their competitors I'm proven wrong. It's barely a functional salvage yard and more often than not a complete waste of time. Just use car-part.com or wrench-a-part. You'll be glad you did.

Bring more tools than you think you'll need. There's often other people out there who may or may not help you if you forget a tool, I had someone loan me an electric ratchet when I forgot my regular ratchet set in the car, only had basic wrenches in my bag (and didn't want to pay the $3 again). They WILL look through your stuff on your way out. There's also Wrench A Part in Del Valle, but that's a lot further for me, and they rarely have my car model.
