"Meh" about sums up my experiences with this store. Options: It generally has what I'm looking for but may not have a variety of those things from which to choose. Everything seems so squeezed together on the shelves because there isn't a ton of space in general. Overall, I haven't had issues with freshness, but if I'm buying produce or meat, I tend to make the trip two blocks over to Metro Market instead. Prices: Not actually that impressive. People generally say that this is the cheaper alternative to Metro Market, but there are certain things I tend to find more cheaply at MM than here. It's a bit hit-or-miss in that category. Environment: Again, meh. Small store, limited section sizes, basics. Perhaps most disappointing? Small bakery area and nearly non-existent pharmacy/toiletry section. I mean, it's cool, I only wanted to choose one of two brands of shampoo anyway... Staffing: The staff drives me crazy here. Some are totally on their A-games, others seem like it's perpetually their first day. I shop here fairly often for work, and each time I have to hold my breath wondering whether the cashier will know how to use my business credit card. I've had some know exactly how to do it, others require a manager's assistance, and some who straight out told me, "Oh, we can't accept that." (Umm... yes, you can. It's a Visa. And I used it last week.) Overall, I keep going back because it's in a convenient location. It'd be great to see PnS invest in this store to make it the success it could be in such a high-traffic neighborhood. read more

Ran in to grab a few things including a gallon of milk. In my haste, I didn't look at the expiration date on the milk (one would hope milk being sold would not be expired anyway)! Got the milk home and poured a glass only to find out that the milk had expired 6/23. I purchased the milk in 7/8. Absolutely disgusting and unacceptable. read more

This Pick n' Save is horrendous. I had an awful experience the other night... You'd think going to the grocery store around 7 is a good idea since you miss the after work crowd. NOT. There was only ONE person at the register and the express lanes were completely congested. I definitely waited longer than I would've at rush hour. I live really close so it's a quick stop but I'll be taking my grocery shopping to Metro Mart from now on. Well worth the longer walk - even in winter. Oh yeah - and I got a dozen baked cookies that were completely stale.. maybe the head baker took an early vacation. Either way I was furious. read more

This is my primary Pick n Save but I do shop at several others due to where my family is but why.....why...... does this one, and only this one from all my other experiences, refuse to employ cashiers. Very seldom do they have even one cashier. I always have to go through self serve registers. I'm sorry but unless you want to pay me or discount my order, why am I doing my own work when the prices are not any lower to reflect us having to check yourselves out. Since my move to Milwaukee I've solely shopped at this Pick N Save as a recommendation from multiple friends. After my recent experience this past Saturday I will never return. If we didn't have somewhere to be after this we would have left all the groceries on the belt and made the employees put it all back for the unprofessionalism they showed... My fiancé and I were completing our weekly grocery haul and were ready to check out. Unknowingly, I picked the slowest line possible (1 of 2 lines only open on a Saturday might I add) and our checkout process took a total of 20 minutes... The family in front of us had a problem their ribs weren't ringing in correctly and it took more than 5 employees to figure out how to change the price. They kept the couple in line while our groceries were already on the belt; never suggested or moved them to the customer service desk to continue additional guests behind them. What made this entire grocery haul the most agitating was the cashier Tamika. She voiced multiple she traditionally works in the liquor department and decided to scan our groceries the slowest she possibly could: all while talking to her bagger that she was going to quit and yelling across aisles to other cashiers agreeing with her they're going to quit too. Not to mention any produce she came across she would yell at the bagger for the PLU codes because she didn't know them (thinking the woman bagging would just have been the cashier since she knew them all). Never was greeted with a "hi how are you" or have a nice day, or an apology or recollection the previous rib issue was holding up other customers. She voiced while this was happening she didn't care others had to wait. Once we were finally finished I happened to look behind me and noticed none of the folks in the other line anymore because that cashier got through all of their customers. Just overall an irritating and unprofessional environment to be in. I get working in a grocery store isn't the most glamorous job, but at least put in the effort and respect customers AND your surroundings at the least. read more

When I am lazy and walk to Pick 'n Save instead of the extra two blocks to Metro Market, I am punished. I can never find what I want here. If something is on sale, it is sold out. If you have a coupon, it is always for the size that they don't carry (I'm looking at you, cereal). The produce isn't terrible, but doesn't scream fresh. The meat counter kinda grosses me out. This Pick 'n Save is good for one thing only and that is the lower quality meats like soup bones that you can't find just anywhere. read more

I love Wisconsin grocery stores. This place is no exception. As for Milwaukee, I'm partial to Metro Market and this Pick 'n Save location. Both have Redboxes. Both are near the Aloft. Both are located in Wisconsin, my favorite state. They seem to have everything I need when I'm on vacation, and at a good price. The only slightly bad thing I can say about Wisconsin grocery stores is that at 9pm on a saturday, they already stop selling liquor. WHAT?!?!? that's crazy... read more

The beer selection was impressively bad. I walked in seeking an IPA and was disappointed to find out that Moon Man from New Glarus and Potosi Tangerine IPA were my only choices (and I passed on both.) What I did find was a huge selection of adjunct lagers. Coors, Bud, Miller in every possible variety. If you are looking for a North American AL they have almost all of them including crowd favorites like Natural Light and Steel Reserve. You wont find any Ballast Point Sculpin IPA, Anchor Steam or Dogfish Head 90 minute in this place but if you are thirsty for some Goose Island or Hamm's then come on down! I am serious when I say that many rural gas stations in the middle of nowhere have a more refined beer lineup than this place. You will not find Two-Hearted Ale or anything from Bell's or Founder's but if Corona is what you need than you have come to the right place. This place has a decent selection of top shelf champagne but this does not balance out the pedestrian beer and wine offerings. read more

If you really need groceries downtown, do yourself a favor and go a few blocks away to the Metro Market. Avoid the chaos and disappointment that is this particular Pick'n Save location. Key points --- - Expired food: Grabbed a small container of chocolate milk, didn't think twice about it. Got home, took a giant swig of it. And do you know what it tasted like? Expired. Chocolate. Milk. There is literally no worse taste in the world. My mistake for not reading the expiration date closer, but WHY do you have milk on your shelves that is OVER a WEEK expired? Never forgive, never forget on that one P'nS. - Meat counter: if you want to spend ten minutes waiting for someone to help you get a piece of chicken, be my guest. I don't have patience for that, especially when you hit the button (which I assume sounds the "customer wishing to buy chicken, please show your face at the counter and help them out" alarm) and still no one shows up. On a Sunday afternoon, when one would think they'd have all hands on deck, the employees just disappear. - Parking lot: yes they have one, but it often ends up being too full to find a spot with all the other shops/restaurants sharing the same lot. - Claustrophobia: the aisles are narrow and navigating about can be a real pain. The produce section is like some sort of grocery game of Twister with strangers and apples. You will constantly feel crowded, even when the place isn't that busy. At the end of the day, this P'nS has some some of what you need (conveniently located noms) but a LOT of what you don't. Avoid. read more

I just moved from California and am trying to find a new grocery store. This isn't going to be it. It was a Friday of a holiday weekend, just after work and the first thing I noticed when I walked in was the huge line in the liquor area. The lines for checkout were incredible and they only had one checker open. Even the self checkout was overflowing into the aisles. When I asked about the savings card, I was told I'd have to go to the service counter. After waiting for someone to help me, the guy at the counter searched every cabinet he had access to but couldn't find any cards. He did apologize and say he was embarrassed, but I left without my savings (which was only $1, but still). read more

This grocery store is the closest to my house. When I have any ounce of energy I go elsewhere... Metro Market, the Pick N Save on Humboldt or Whole Foods. My main problem with this grocery store is the inconsistency of product. They can't seem to maintain product (specifically in the produce department) and are often times short on what I go there to pick up. The produce department is soooo hit or miss I often times end up not "shopping the perimeter" which I always try to do when going grocery shopping. I'm updating this review. After going to the Pick N. Save on Garfield, this location deserves one spot better, but not by much. The cashiers are friendlier, but it still in comparison to the Metro Market, as the selection isn't as good and there's no hot bar. read more

This is the second worst Pick N Save I've ever been to. They take ages serving you in the deli. On numerous occasions the salad bar didn't have lids, forks, etc. They never have more than two registers open. And with the Metro Market so close why anyone uses this store is beyond me. read more

Works just fine as a compact little Pick N Save. Several times I've been part of fun banter between customers and clerks at the registers. Today a clerk went out of her way to fetch a coupon for me. I think this location is very convenient when you are on your way in or out of downtown or the east side. I've never had trouble finding a close parking spot. There is a Starbucks, Einstein's, Noodles and co., and a Chipotle all right near by that you could hit in one stop. read more

Since starting my keto diet, this place has pretty much been my go to shop daily. Why? Cause its convenient... pretty much sums it up. And you pay for the convenience, thankfully most of the main product you would need are here. And thats the reason why i think all east siders come here. Their rotisserie chicken is a crap shoot, sometimes its good sometimes it aint. But it sure is convenient then cooking yourself. They do run out around 7 sometimes so that kind of stings. Come here for small daily shopping. For your bigger shopping needs I suggest you branch out a bit. read more

This is a convenient location but the quality of the staff has plummeted in the last 6 months. The employees are rude, the management indifferent and the cleanliness of the facility in question. Today was my first trip here, in a long time. To me it isn't that different from any other pick n' save. Except that it is very small, and cramped. On the good side, I found everything that I was looking for, good deals with my roundys card. Staff on this visit, was helpful. Other than the size of the place, I see no other reasons not to shop here. read more

Pick 'n Save stores could use real competition as they lack care and service for the customers. The staff are not rude, but are just sad to be there, never smiling, greeting, or going out of their way to help. I feel sorry for them. It's a company culture, I'm sure. In addition, their prices are out-of-bounds (e.g. a package of Orange roughy costs $12.99 as compared to only $9.99 at a competitor). The good news is that Meijer will soon open stores in Milwaukee. I've shopped there, and they are super friendly, attentive, clean, and fair priced -- the total opposite of Pick 'n Save. read more

This might sound a bit odd, but the cashier, Valerie?, smelled my bad of Idaho potatoes and said that there was a rotten one in there. She then got someone to get me a new bag. In all my years of grocery shopping, I've never had that kind of service. It's the little things that make a big difference. The deli lady was really nice too. Hard to elieve this place is still open. To top that anyone that places Metro much above this , shouldn't be allowed to shop alone. The store is to small but makes a ton of money. Metro which is a Whole Foods rip off, should be the general purpose grocery based on size. I keep wondering how can you grocery shop and not find anything to eat. within the past 6 months, i have gotten applesauce from 2016, cheese that expired in july of 2017, and milk that is almost 2 weeks old (granted it's partially my fault for hurrying and not checking). this is unacceptable and if you are ever occupied and forget to check dates on every item of food, you are more than likely to get something expired (from up to TWO YEARS ago). i highly do not recommend shopping here and are better off some where else - it will make for not doing two trips to return and get new products. read more

This Pick N' Save doesn't do the East Side any justice. It's so sad (and stupid) because if only this store expanded, it'd be fine. It's a great store to just go in for a quick pick-up (like laundry detergent or butter), but as another Pick N' Saver stated it's simply not a place to do your full week (or 2 weeks) full of shopping. God help you if you do. Upside? This is one of the few I've been to where I haven't seen an expired item. That's gotta be worth something! The lanes are insanely-small and the selection is pretty poor. This is coming from someone who's experienced some of the larger Pick N' Saves in the city though.
