It's a good store to have in the neighborhood and the service is usually very friendly but lord, twice now they've messed up my curbside pickup order. Twice now I've shown up after being notified that my order was ready, I wait around for 10-15 minutes, and have to go inside and ask where my groceries are. They really need to tighten up with that. Otherwise, it's a good neighborhood grocery store and their prices are very reasonable. Good selection, as well, including alcohol. read more

This was the worst grocery store experience I have EVER had. I usually do not write reviews, but I had to share. We were visiting Milwaukee and needed a few items. We were met with rude and unprofessional employees along with poor quality produce. Also an unkept store. I would rate this store a negative number if I could. This place is running a scam. We are from out of town and purchased groceries. The clerk came running out after us, screaming, and claimed we did not pay for the groceries. She kept waving the voided receipt in the air, but refused to show it to us. She claimed our credit card was declined. A call to the credit card company revealed there was no declined transaction. In A Nutshell: -Metro Market was a great grocery store right across the street from The Plaza Hotel. -The convenience played a crucial part since I was able to buy snacks, fruit & prepped meals like salmon or stuffed cabbage. -They also have a nice selection of wine & Wisconsin cheese. -What interesting fact was that I attempted to buy wine just after 9pm but they wouldn't let me b/c its not legal after 9pm. I was told the most dumbest thing ever I placed an order for pick up and received an error message saying my order could not be completed and to call so I call customer service and the young lady told me that I could not place an order for pick up because my credit card has an address from Texas in witch what point is that obviously I'm in Wisconsin trying to place a pick up order I order from everyone else door dash uber and not once get an order rejected because of the address that matches the credit card that's really dumb read more

I was first introduced to the Metro Market at the start of the virus so many of the amenities were not available and since then I have been to three of them and this one had the most going on. The fresh hot pizzas were out at this store and the fresh hot sandwich's were out also. The fresh grilled sandwich's were also on with the meat case having sausage, ribeye steaks and burgers. The Starbucks was open but the beer station was still closed. The self serve hot table was not open but package items in its place. The gelato case looked open at this store with a woman filling up containers. The bbq restaurant was open with the fullest hot table of any store so far. They have plenty of pre packaged food from sandwich's, hot food to dinners etc etc. The fresh meat and seafood cases are among the best for grocery stores. Although I didn't get to shop with a beer today it's still just one of the best grocery stores in Milwaukee. read more

We bought a 6 dollar rotisserie chicken. We were so excited for this chicken. Only to find it to be the driest, flavorless, sad excuse for a chicken. Absolutely so seasoning, no juices in the bottom, did not fall off the bone. And no amount of salt or pepper was going save us. There was a slight taste of cardboard. The color was a bit pink, which was confusing since it was dryer than the Sarah dessert in the summer. Conflicting instructions about reheating. Everything else we bought today was great read more

Really sketchy, possibly even dangerous, clientele which has led to liquor being guarded by a staff person and a regularly stationed police officer (in addition to an employees security guard). Whenever I use the self checkout it often has a clutch. Always a couple not working. They always say I'm doing it wrong. I'm a self checkout geek. I'm not doing it wrong lol As far as the store goes it's pretty good One thing though. I buy plums there and the fruit at Fresh Tyme are way better. Do you want to shop at a place where you will come in close contact with a large number of employees but none of them will look at you, make eye contact, or acknowledge you in any way? If so, do I have the place for you! Metro Market looks very nice and the prepared foods section is glorious with fresh popcorn, baked items, a smoothie bar for god's sake! That helps make up for the fact that the other sections of the store are quite small and limited, with narrow aisles and a dearth of selection in many categories. That and the aforementioned employees that will pay you absolutely no mind. Though I suppose some folks are into that kind of experience, I like some sort of semblance of appreciation for my presence and that fact that I'm spending my hard-earned money at the establishment. read more

This Metro Market is one of my favorite grocery stores. They are conveniently located with good customer service and quality, well-priced foods. The bakery items, produce, cheese/charcuterie, and meats are some of my favorite options. They have nice to-go items as well, from sandwiches to sushi, a juice stand, gelato, gourmet popcorn, and a bar area. While I sometimes encounter issues with the hardiness of the produce from other grocery stores, Metro Market's quality usually ensures most things last for a week or so. They have a nice variety of fruits and vegetables, as well as pre-cut options. The produce prices are fair, especially given the better quality. The cheese and charcuterie section is extensive! This would be a great place to stop by on your way to a get-together to grab a drink and something to share. They even offer pre-made charcuterie boards to go, which is a really nice perk! There is a salad bar section containing marinated olives and other goodies. Their cheese selections are a wider variety than other stores, and focus on Wisconsin cheeses. The meat and fish at Metro Market is always quality. They offer a solid variety and plenty of sales, along with discounts for Fresh Perks Card holders. Normally I'm pretty tolerante of things- just get what I need and be semi-friendly and we're good. However, I've always have a bad experience here. Especially at night when there's a line down the store with only one cashier, while the CSRs and security guard are chatting in the corner being zero help. Don't say you can't help because you closed out a register, either, you could help the cashier bag-- at the very LEAST you should be standing by the self checkout like your supposed to, acting like you care about your job. They're never by the self-checkout, and they are perfectly capable of assisting people out by the self-checkout if they only have one or two items. Stuff is always out of stock or expired too. Saw oatmeal a few days ago that expired in 2018. Come on. Not to mention when I called about the moldy mushrooms that I had just bought, there was no apology or help. Sure, they let me come in and exchange it, but I had to go out of my way to go all the way back to the store for something I already paid for and you won't even apologize for the inconvenience? read more

Worst customer service of my life (coming from someone who has worked in customer service and sales for 15 years) I purchased over two hundred dollars of groceries after getting off of work on 5/21/2021. (Around 7:30 pm) Upon arriving home I realized the bagger forgot to put my 90% lean ground beef that I purchased as well as the 2 packages of hot Italian sausage I paid for in my cart after bagging. I promptly called the store to inform the staff and surprisingly the cashier who had checked me out happened to to be the one who answered the phone. (Long story short we chatted joking about how it was both our faults for the misunderstanding and she told me "please just come into the store and you can get those 3 items since you've already paid for them" I have recently moved and no longer live by the store, but I work by it so I waited until the day after to go into the store, again after work. When I arrived at the store today, May 23rd, the customer service attendant didn't hNe any information on my "issue" and went over my receipt about 3-5 times before asking me what date we were here. Thinking I brought the wrong receipt I checked it and pointed out the items, she checked her clip board (I presume she found the notes) and said "to ahead and get your items". I walked through the store a second time to locate my items and brought them to the service desk where the attendant told me that she "wouldn't authorize the sausage because it wasn't on the notepad she has and she didn't know about it".. frustrated, but still polite I said I would just pay for them again. I then handed her the ground beef. Upon seeing the ground beef she stated that there was a 60 cent price difference, which was true. I explained that there were no other 90% lean packages and this was the only one closest in price to the item. She then said "it's not the same price" ... At this point I became beyond frustrated for the following. 1. It was not my mistake your bagger didn't put my groceries in my cart when that is the job you pay them to do. 2. I waited 2 days to get groceries I had ALREADY paid for 3. I was denied product that I had already purchased even after a separate employee told me what I already knew, which was that I was entitled to the items I paid for. My family would shop here weekly and spend at least 150-200 each visit. Since I still work in the neighborhood I will be vehemently encouraging people in this neighborhood to shop at a place that genuinely values their customers. read more

I love metro market. It is such a great grocery store in downtown Milwaukee. If you shop the sales it's comprable to a store out of the city. The remodel has added a ton of options for convienience foods including pizza , stir fry , hot bar, salad bar, pasta , etc. You can get in and out with anything you need super quick. read more

I had my worst food shopping experience ever today at Metro Market in Shorewood Wi. All checkout recently changed to self checkout- no cashiers anywhere in the store & you have to bag your own groceries no matter how large your order. Inadequate Assistance when the scanning mechanism hits a snag . This on top of the produce quality being not so great. I know some people love to hate on the metro market, but it's one business I've frequented probably thousands of times, and rarely have had an unpleasant experience. I feel fortunate to have this grocery store so close. Pluses: **nice employees **great produce selection **huge vitamin-supplement selection **lovely little floral department ** several sections devoted to more obscure international groceries (I bought a Heinz brand British dessert from a can here once...other stories for other times). **they carry a lot of local products-- on my last trip I noted Au Bon Appetit (side note -- it was once a highly regarded restaurant on Brady) Hummus, Growing Power Greens, and Purple Door Ice Cream! **They carry a decent selection of wines and craft beers near the frozen food area, which saves you a trip into the separate liquor department. Con's: **parking situation isn't great. I recommend going in the lowest parking garage off Jackson and huffing it up two flights of stairs. **This may have changed but they used to close at the early for an urban grocery store time of 10 pm. That may have since changed. Side note--As others have noted, I also have never once, out loud, called it the Metro Market lol. like not once ever. I'm totally literate the last time I checked, but will still stare straight at that sign and blurt out "Metro Mart." Someone needs to do a study and see why that's happening read more

This is UNFORTUNATELY the closest supermarket by me, and I am to the point I'll just go a few blocks further to Pick n Save due to TERRIBLE service going forward.... I can always get what I need from the shelves. And if there's a shortage on items, I understand given we are living in compromising times during COVID... The problem has NEVER been related to food, spoilage, or lack thereof... However, that does NOT excuse the piss poor service offered at this location, primarily at checkout. I've gone in numerous times ready to checkout, and 5 employees will be huddled up, laughing, having personal conversations, which have also included profanity. And then no lanes are open, while numerous shoppers are waiting and forced to use self checkout. That isn't acceptable, the shoppers should be able to go to an actual checkout where employees are working and doing their jobs. Additionally, when you go there during later hours, the staff up front is simply RUDE. There's a woman who works checkout that visibly doesn't like the job. The younger staff that works at this location, will pull their phones out instead of offering assistance to help checkout, bag, or just simply assisting customers. I've heard profanity used by employees at this location often, which is something I never expect to hear from workers in a place of business. I've been quiet about this, as I never want to be the complaining customer, but this location needs to get it together. The sheer laziness and quite frankly uselessness from the employees that work towards the front of the store during 2nd shift, is downright pathetic, and not something that should be apart of the Metro Market experience. read more

When I first arrived in Milwaukee, I thought they had friendly service at the Customer Service area but didn't restock or stocked things that were expired. On my last few visits that has improved tremendously despite COVID-19, the shelves are full now! We rented an Airbnb very close to this place and needed a few things so we thought we'd give it a shot. Frankly I was concerned because of some of the negative comments on Yelp. They seem pretty unjustified to me. We found the store to be clean and well stocked. It is particularly good for a quick, fully prepared meal. Some of the food was quite tasty, some not so much. But there is a wide selection of options. Yes, it is a bit expensive, but much cheaper than the surrounding restaurants. We bought dinner and some kitchen staples. I've seen rotten produce, employees at the self checkout just on their phones, disregarding pilled up baskets and machines out of receipt paper. Constantly out of stock of high sale items. And now they have two security guards, one by each self checkout? They used to treat their customers with dignity. Just about everything has gone to sh$& there except the meat department. Metro Market is suffering from a bit of an identity crisis. It wants to be a lot of things to attract a lot of customers and it really isn't hitting any of the marks. It's located on the Lower East Side of town and near some rather high end housing. There are plenty of upscale condos in the area and it's obvious that they are trying to appeal to those dwellers. There's a fairly extensive grab and go deli with everything from sushi to fried chicken to cakes and cookies. And while this food is convenient, it's rather overpriced for what you get. And it's pretty standard deli fare. They also try to carry higher ends selections, like cheese and fruit. These were on my list during my last trip. From afar the cheese walls looks impressive. Wedges and bars and cubes of goodness. But then you reach the case and find that the majority of the inventory is mid-range offerings with over-inflated prices. For example, $5.29 for a wedge of Satori BellaVitano Gold. This is good cheese, great even. But it's only $3.59 everyday at Woodmans. Perhaps they should try to get in some cheese that warrants the prices they charge. Same goes for the fruit. I don't mind paying more for higher quality (Sendiks anyone?). But if I am paying more the quality better be there. I was in search of fresh figs for an appetizer recipe. Nothing too exotic, just standard fresh Black Mission figs. The good news is they carry them, the not surprising news is that they charge 69 cents each for them. But the bad news is that the few that they had were soft and mushy and well past their peak. So they really aren't the high end grocery they want people to believe. They also try to appeal to the budget conscious shopper with their "sales". But when your regular prices are over-inflated then your sale prices only put you in reasonable range. I have yet to find a regular or sale price at Metro Market that is lower than any everyday price at Woodmans. So they really aren't the value grocery story they people to believe. There is a silver lining, and that's in the bakery. All items are made fresh on premise, there's always a large selection and they take special orders. Flavors are great (some of the best buttercream frosting ever) and decor is creative and bright. So yes to the fresh bakery and a no thank you to pretty much the rest of the store. read more

I just moved here last Tuesday from Nashville and am a loyal KROGER customer ..the outside of the store in Glendale is clean and modern structure from the outside..The store on the inside was very clean and spacious..I am disabled so I needed scooter ..which was hard to find like most are..I did my shopping ..the employees where very helpful ..I dropped some frozen dinners than where piled high..My disabled hand knocked some of them down to the floor..which a employee saw the situation and came running to help me pick them up !..I thanked her to continue my shopping !! While the prices were good, I found the layout of this store to be a confusing mess. It probably took me a half hour to navigate the aisles to pick up just ten items. Then the checkout was slow. It just crawled along and it wasn't the shoppers, it was the cashier who seemed to take a very long while to process the folks in front of me. The only positive is that there is covered parking which must be awesome for the locals during the winter times. I would not return. read more

I am writing this review about this location' s safety and security. I am a frequent visitor here as I live a block away. I like the new market concept and abundance of options for getting a quick, quick to fix, dinner. I work a lot and last month set a record. Coming in on a Saturday afternoon after spending a number of hours at the office I exhaustedly, inadvertently left my phone in the tray built in to the shopping cart. Five minutes after I left the store I figured it out and ran back to talk to the girl manning the seat overlooking the self checkouts near the door I checked out of. She sent me to the customer service counter, where I described the phone and left my contact information. I went from there to the phone provider where we immediately transferred the service into an older spare phone that I keep for such purposes. Then I went home to change over passwords, etc. By the next morning I was pretty resigned to the idea that I needed a new phone, but I returned to Metro Market to pick up a few things. I stopped at the customer service desk and unbelievably, they had my phone! I thought I was going to fall over, I was so overjoyed! I thought about the work that goes into the shopping experience behind the scenes at metro market. There's a lot of staff on hand to help, and there is security on site. Knowing this, and experiencing how effective it is, I am grateful to the store and will continue to be a frequent shopper. It suits me and my lifestyle! read more

After the recent remodel, great!!!!! Best grocery store on the lower east side. It definitely helps that they have tons of parking. Side note - they need more baggers. As I live literally across the street from this Metro Market, and love to cook everyday, saying I'm a regular would be an understatement. I probably visit this location about 3-5 times a week for varying items. This Metro Market looks shiny and new on the surface, I'll admit. However it is definitely lacking in some ways. The biggest issue I have is finding items consistently. They seem to either struggle to keep items stocked on the shelf, or maybe it is an inventory issue. I don't know. But it's definitely annoying when I buy something one week and come back the next, and then the next, and I can't find it. Sometimes it'll resurface with time, sometimes it doesn't. The variety in the dry goods (middle aisles/packaged foods?) is somewhat lacking, especially in their 'international' section, ESPECIALLY compared to Shorewood's Metro Market. I couldn't even find simple rice noodles to make pad thai, what the hell? The hot bar can be tasty, at least that was when they had different items every day. Now they seem to have just the same mediocre choices every single day with maybe a couple choices changed out. And they don't seem to keep up with labeling those choices either, which makes it hard for me to know what I'm looking at. The one thing I will say is you can't go wrong with the spicy chicken wings, or the fried shrimp. Avoid the chicken tenders at all costs, I'm not sure how you can screw up chicken tenders, but they managed to do so with their sawdust like consistency. Price-wise, it's fine, and you can definitely get a good deal if you use their app and download the coupons. Overall, I'd recommend Aldi far and above this grocery store and most others, but as I live just across the street I'm not sure if I'll be able to tear myself away from the convenience any time soon. read more
