Doud's is a small market, but it has lots of stuff. As far as I know, this is one of the only markets on Mackinac Island. There actually is another Doud's down Main Street toward the ferry area, but it's a smaller grab-and-go convenience store, mostly with snacks and coffee. My hotel was right across the street, so I bopped into Doud's a couple of times during my stay, to grab a bottle of wine (they have a decent selection of wine), some candy for my kids, and some fruit because I needed to eat something fresh. The store is tidy and everything is arranged nicely. They also have self-checkout kiosks, so you can get in and out quickly.

The store may be simple aesthetically, but the staff was helpful (especially Stephanie at the front counter who was particularly friendly). I think I'd make the effort to come back here again after my experience this week and get why the locals love this shop.

Let's be honest: there isn't much going on in a pasty beyond some humble, comforting ingredients. Hopefully served with love. At Taste of the UPP, that's definitely the case.
