So wonderful to have 9 new lighted pickleball courts! 3 grouped courts for each level: Novice…read more(Courts 1-3), Intermediate (Courts 4-6, which are up on higher ground than the novice courts), and Advanced (Courts 7-9, which are literally on the highest level ground). Blue courts with gray kitchens (nonvolley zones). Covered spectator seating areas are on both ends of each group of 3 courts. Courts hours are 7 am to 10 pm daily. Doubles play is encouraged during busy hours. Only one bench in each spectator seating area, so there are a lot of us intermediate players standing and waiting to rotate in. People were complaining about mosquitoes during the evening drop-in session. Paddle racks inside the spectator seating area help organize turn taking within a group of players. Paddle racks outside the court area are supposed to be for different groups of 4 players to use a court, but not sure how easily utilized and noticeable those will be given most people are inside the court area. Go inside to chat with people in the spectator seating area. This park does have the following: - Restrooms - Outdoor patio seating area - Water fountains - Big parking lot I recommend reading the Pickleball Rules sign: 1. No kids under age 12 without an adult. 2. No music that can be heard by others. 3. Personal bags and chairs should be in the spectator seating areas or outside the courts. 4. No animals. 5. No smoking. 6. No food, gum, alcohol, or beverages other than water. 7. No bikes, skateboards, scooters, skates, toys, or other wheeled devices on the courts. 8. A permit from the City of Roseville is required for private league, tournament play, coaching, or private lessons. My major complaint is that the fence dividers between the courts do not extend to the perimeter court fencing. The balls keep rolling through the gaps onto the next court, which is particularly annoying when you're in the middle court with 4 such gaps. I've been placing my bag in one corner to cover one gap. I beg Parks & Rec to think of a fix. I talked to one foodie friend who happens to work for Parks & Rec. Apparently, the community saw the courts were nearly done and pushed to have them open ASAP. He told me improvements should be coming given the early opening. Courts opened at the end of January 2024. The Courts of Gibson Park also has plans to open tennis courts and basketball courts. You can see the blueprints on their website. https://www.roseville.ca.us/cms/One.aspx?portalId=7964922&pageId=11074176 For information on drop-in open play, sign up for a free account on Playtimescheduler.com. These courts are on the corner of Roseville Parkway and Gibson Drive. They are located near Eureka and Lazy Dog restaurants and the Westfield Galleria mall. It's a bit tricky and sudden to turn left into the driveway with a median, so I have been making a U-Turn. I assume a left turn lane and parking lot lighting will eventually be added.

Definitely be mindful of that. I had no clue and I happen to be with a group of 6 people and we just kept playing on the same court. Oooops. But Luckily there was a kind person who informed us of rules and etiquette. And yes I know there are rules posted right on the gates but completely overlooked it on accident. The courts open at 7am. But when I arrived at 7:20, all the courts were taken. Luckily the party I was with arrived at 7am and was able to snag a court. So definitely get there early or be prepared to wait. There is plenty of parking. Working toilets, real restrooms, not portable toilets. Thank goodness!

Those that don't will work with and teach new players. They are encouraging and play to the level of the players on the court they are playing against. Then there are those that have something to prove. They will trounce new players with no qualms. I have witnessed multiple 11-0 scores on the "beginner" court where the new players don't even get a service. It leaves those beginners not wanting to play anymore. This is the bad part of this club, because this game should be accessible and fun for all. The competition was very good but my initial experience was that people were not welcoming or friendly towards visitors or guests. I decided to practice my serves by myself in one of the public courts and fortunately other members reached out and invited me to play for which I was very grateful. While I am an advocate for club membership in order to organize play and enhance the overall experience, there should be a free guest policy for players who are visiting. The competition was definitely worthy, but the negative initial reception was so off-putting and un-welcoming that I would play elsewhere where the people are more friendly and inclusive. For me, it's not just about playing well, it's about fun and community. Club Drop-In Play Schedule Sunday-Friday 7:00 AM-12:00 PM 5:00 PM-10:00PM

With 8 courts, it's the largest sized indoor pickleball facility in the area so far! YBA stands for Youth Basketball Academy. The basketball courts have pickleball court lines painted on. YBA is located on Tinker Rd, which is a cross street of Industrial Ave and is close to the Sunset Blvd 65 exit. You're likely to see many semi trucks parked on Tinker, so that's when you'll know when to turn. Keep an eye out for the Tinker Rd street signs. You'll see Hardwood Palace, a different basketball facility, before YBA, but just drive a little further where you'll see more parked cars. There are 3 beginner courts (first 3 courts closest to the front of the building on your left), 3 intermediate courts (next 3 courts on your left), and 2 advanced courts (opposite the intermediate courts across the walkway/seating on your right). When you arrive, find the paddle rack for your skill level and put it on either the blue half or white half. A spinner arrow on the paddle rack indicates which color gets the next open court, and the 4 paddles closest to the middle in that color play next. When you win, you place your paddle on the blue side. When you lose, you place your paddle on the white side. This system allows players to mingle more and adjusts for skill level. So clever! You can ask Coach Karly for an explanation or look for the poster that explains the paddle rack system. There is a popular King/Queen's Quest every Thursday at 12 pm. Indoor Pickleball is open 8 am to 3 pm Monday to Friday. Open play is scheduled 10 am to 12 pm on those days. Pickleball is closed on Saturdays and Sundays. Accepted forms of payment are cash, Venmo, and Zelle. For shotgun tournaments, it's wise to pay in advance to reserve your spot. Shotgun just means you don't come with a doubles partner. You'll get matched with random partners. Coach Isaac is a friendly, energetic, and skillful coach, happy and eager to share his pickleball knowledge. He and Coach Karly have DUPR ratings of 4.0. They are both very sweet and welcoming. I was shocked they recognized and knew me by name on my first visit given I have probably conversed with Karly only once before and am a lower level player who has never played a game with them before. I was so impressed with their Facebook page full of pictures of many smiling pickleball players. They try to learn people's names and acknowledge everyone. Inclusivity...the true pickleball social spirit! YBA attracts many pickleball players when it's raining, so be prepared to wait, but it was exciting playing with different people. I think YBA would also be great during 95+ degree weather. I get so tired of applying sunscreen. I heard from one player that hospital workers coming off the graveyard shift go to YBA to play pickleball before heading to bed! Diehards. Interesting niche clientele. Unfortunately, my experience last night 02/27/2026 was extremely disappointing and unprofessional. For context, this facility has two soccer fields: one requires check-in for league play, and the other can be privately booked, which does not require check-in. My group had booked the smaller field for the evening, as we have done many times before. As I entered the facility, an employee named Isabelle stopped me by whistling at me from a distance. I found this extremely disrespectful and demeaning, as it felt as though I was being called over like an animal rather than addressed as a paying customer. In my four years coming here, no employee has ever treated me this way. When I approached, she spoke to me in a harsh and aggressive tone, asking, "What are you doing here? Where are you going? What's your name?" I calmly explained that I was there to play on the smaller field and that check-in was not required because it was not league play. She interrupted me, raised her voice, and began walking toward me in an intimidating manner, insisting that I could not go to the field without checking in. When I asked for her name, she refused to provide it and continued demanding my name in an aggressive tone. I later saw her name tag and noted it myself. Even after a front desk employee confirmed my identity to her, she continued questioning me and even referred to me as "little boy," which was completely inappropriate and unprofessional. Shortly after, she and another employee approached my teammates on the field and spoke to them in the same rude and disrespectful manner, insisting we needed to check in despite the field being privately booked. By that point, my entire group felt uncomfortable and offended by the way we were being treated. I do want to note that the other employee, Bladea, later apologized to me and my friend when Isabelle was not around, which I appreciated. However, the overall experience was still very upsetting and should never happen to customers. As a long-time customer who brings consistent business to this facility, I expect to be treated with basic respect and professionalism. There is a difference between enforcing policies and speaking to customers in a hostile, demeaning way. This experience left me feeling disrespected and unwelcome. I strongly encourage management at In-Shape Health Clubs to address this matter and provide additional customer service training so no other customers are treated in this manner.

Now I don't think I can even run a block so it's a little bittersweet... But alas, Fleet Feet has stayed consistently awesome all these decades later. Today we stopped by to inquire about new work shoes for my husband. He's been experiencing some foot discomfort so we thought maybe he needed new insoles and now maybe new shoes. Thought we'd also have him reevaluated for fit, to make sure his shoes were a good fit for his feet. When we walked in on Sunday early afternoon, we were greeted by around 6 employees and an empty store. Wow...Fleet Feet definitely wants to make sure they have enough employees for their customers' needs, which I respect. Brooke greeted us with a friendly smile and then made a big wave across the store and said, "You have the whole store to yourselves today!" :) For the next 15-20 minutes or so, we got to try on several pairs of running shoes, including ones by Brooks, Hoka, On Cloud and Altra. For each pair, Brooke would patiently take the shoe out of the box, loosen the shoelaces, place them on my husband's feet and then tie the shoelaces. I admired her patience. :) Brooke was so upbeat and knowledgeable about feet differences and knew the different features of the shoes. After stacking several boxes all around us, we had a couple pairs that we really liked, but they weren't available in the color we wanted. Brooke cheerfully said that she could help us order them or we could order them on our own online. We also learned that they don't earn commissions for sales, so I was even more amazed at how she remained so friendly and cheerful throughout the entire interaction. (I think I might have grumbled about taking all these boxes out, having to fix the shoelaces and put all the shoes back in boxes, then have to take them to the back of the store and reorganize them, hehe). We were totally impressed by Brooke and the professionalism she exhibited for Fleet Feet. They are definitely lucky to have an employee like her! If you've never been to a running store and had your feet/gait evaluated so you can find out if you overpronate, underpronate or have flat feet, you definitely need to stop by Fleet Feet to get a proper shoe fitting, especially if you're doing a lot of walking or running. (My Ironman coworker had instructed me to go to Fleet Feet and Running Warehouse/Zone back when I first started training for races and I'm so glad she pointed me in that direction!) Thanks again, Fleet Feet, for being in the area and being so knowledgeable about feet, shoes and running/walking!
