My 25th round yesterday. April 2026. Played with two guys who didn't know the course. I got to be tour guide. The guys were 25+ handicaps. Whitney was a bit too challenging for them. They lost a LOT of balls, They seemed to enjoy scrambling around in the thick brush, marsh areas and the stands of trees searching for their balls and finding others. By ball scrounging they were net positive on the ball count by hole #18. No groups behind us so the ball collecting forays were not a problem. Whitney Oaks putting greens are wicked difficult. Not just the hard fast surfaces but from the roly-poly topography. Severe elevation changes on most holes. There isn't a flat green on this golf course. So if you are up for a challenge, come on down. As an indicator of the course difficulty the black tees at the tips have been closed. The blue tees are plenty diffiicult even for scratch golfers. Despite the challenge here, I love this golf course. It's scenic, woodsy, the air smells fresh. I always finish the game 4.5 hours later with a relaxed smile no matter how well or poorly I played. read more

Dayum is about all is needed to say. It's unbelievable that they are charging $90 for a round with the course being in the condition it's in. From grab grass to poor bunker conditions to the greens being recently punched. NO WAY! this is a $90!track today. Shit, the golf carts even need cleaning. I would normally attribute that to just being a middle of the day round but nope. We were out 1st thing in the morning. These prices they need to invest in the course maintenance. This is a hella nice track but damn. Very disappointing to see a course in this condition for the price. BTW... do you have new mats for the driving range? Almost every mat is worn with holes in them and the signs says mats only but their full of holes, missing tees and ball holders. C'mon! read more

We had our first baby shower here in the Monument Room. Kelsey assisted me with the prices and catering options and it turned out perfectly. From beginning to end, it was just effortlessly so smooth and it was more than we could for. The attention to detail was very precise. We were also given a staff to help that entire event, to help set up the dining tables, catering and beverage age. Madison was so helpful and we were so happy to have her assist that day. The view was stunning from the Monument Room. Also, the day of, a young gentleman who works at the golf course was driving around in a golf cart and kindly asked if I need help bringing party decorations to the Monument Room. He saw that we had a lot of stuff in the car and that I was pregnant. He kindly loaded things in the golf cart and transported thing to the Monument Room which saved us like 5 trips. I did not get his name but that was so kind of him! We will definitely be booking here again in the future. Thank you for making our baby shower special. read more

I've lived here in Whitney oaks neighborhood for over 15 years now. I've seen the quality of the course and its management go up and down. The golf course itself has potential. It's a beautiful layout, but I think they do a mediocre job of keeping it maintain properly. But in all reality, it's Golf and every blade of grass doesn't need to be perfect. The reason why I'm leaving this review is because of the staff. While it's not a reflection of Whitney Oaks. Golf club as a whole. I've had repeat harassment by the gentleman that puts the carts away and locks up the range at the end of the night on many weeknights. To the point where he threatened me. (This is the second time, and while his threats are of little physical concern) it's was very off putting. What great customer service. Sucks I literally live 1 stop sign and a right turn from the course and I'd prefer to drive to the range at Haggin now. Btw the mats at the range needed to be swapped out 2 years ago. They look like they were pulled out of a dumpster from a range in the middle of the Mojave desert. It's that bad. I'll upload pictures tomorrow. read more

WO used to be the place to play, ever since Thunder Valley sold the place has gone down hill. No loyalty to all the members and neighbors that live on the course. It's too bad, but time to move on from an over priced golf course. The only staff that are great is the restaurant and bar staff! Very Disappointing for an expensive course. Confirmed email for a 9:10 T time and was told upon arrival it was 9:20. Practice balls for the range should be included not extra when you're already paying $80 a round. One set of rental clubs with only 11 clubs. Water/ice facilities are abysmal. We stopped after 9 since hole 10 backed up. Only reason could've been some group jumped in where they weren't suposed to. I was just sent a survey but the link is to the thunder valley casino. I've been playing golf here for 20 years off and on. I have to call out the Executive team at the Thunder Valley Casino. Spend some money on the maintenance of the golf course!!! It does not look like a $70 a round course, It's a mess. I personally give 5 stars to the entire staff at Whitney Oaks Golf Course. The people working there is the only reason I play there and spend the money I spend there. The course is challenging as it is. The new ownership does not honor Charity Golf certificates. The management shows no regard to the people in the community trying to make a difference. To think a Golf Course would not honor it's own charity golf certificate is unthinkable. They act like it is all about generating revenue, but me say when you alienate the golf community with these types of policies your revenue will dry up. The wife and I recently bought our home here and a friend who happens to live in the same neighborhood took us out to dinner to celebrate our purchase. He recommended we check it out and we're glad we did. Service was a bit trash. I took over 15 minutes to get shots poured. Five to 10 minutes to just order drinks. Another 15 to get them to us. The server was surprised when we just said fuck it and walked up to the bar and got TWO ROUNDS before he brought us our drinks. How does this happen? Maybe it was the bar tender's fault, but it's not like the server ever really checked in on us. It took almost 30 minutes just to get our food order in then once it was in....AN HOUR to get our food. WTF. We came on a Thursday and when we showed up and it wasn't particularly busy but it is what it is I guess. I got the Prime Rib special, the wife got fish and chips, my friend on the salmon entree and his mom got some sort of shrimp pasta dish. The fish and chips were decent and filling. The fries were average at best. Nothing that really stands out. I ordered my Prime Rib rare, it came out medium. But after waiting for an hour I wasn't going to wait another hour for a piece of meat that wasn't supposed to be cooked for long anyway....which makes no sense either considering prime rib roast is always cooked ahead of time, not at time of ordering. My friend enjoyed his salmon, again, nothing too memorable. The pasta my friend's mom ordered was terrible. It was like they spilled an entire jar of salt into the dish. All you could taste was salt. But again, after waiting for an hour she just picked out the shrimp and had a few bites of pasta and left the rest. It was also very greasy and oily. The prices here are ok and maybe we just caught the staff on an off night. I want to give this place more stars but our experience was not the best. read more

Oh boy I thought I had mentioned this golf course? Great test of putting , the first 9 holes go thru wonderful wooden area. But the back 9! Is the killer. Had at least 4 or 5 holes I could not reach in 2. Many ditches. Swampy areas or boulders block your path. A real test of golf. Lucky for me the started paired me up with an elderly couple who had played here before. I got lost 2 times driving from hole to hole! I loved it, well maintained, good tee boxes, nice staff l. I can not wait to play it again. The putting green is just like the course. read more

Came here for a catered lunch event. There is a generous parking lot for the club members. Men lugging their clubs, zippy little golf carts, and a beautiful view of the grounds as far as the eye can see. There isn't a sign from the parking lot indicating whether or not the building by the parking lot is home to the restaurant because it seems just like a golf shop at first. Walking in, one side is a golf shop and the other side is the bar and restaurant/ conference room. The staff was soo sweet and helpful. They smiled a lot and let me explore a little around the bar before anyone else arrived. 5 stars for everything. If I knew someone who golfed here I would love to come back! read more

What a missed opportunity. I haven't played Whitney Oaks in over 10 years. We decided to give it another try and wouldn't you know it...my opinion remains unchanged. The good - this could be the most beautifully designed course in the greater Sacramento area. Old trees, good elevation without being obnoxious, water holes, obstacle placement, sand in key locations, creeks, etc...it is a well designed course. - Greens are impeccably maintained and fast. They are fantastic. - Cart path directional signs are well placed. - Club house is impressive and updated. The Bad - The fairways look terrible. Yellowish brown fairways that look in desperate need of water. This has been a historical issue at this club. There are fairway spots on every hole that are dry dirt patches. With limited play during the COVID-19 shelter in place, there is no excuse to have poor fairways. - Staff. We were never told that one of the holes was being plugged the day we played. We discovered the issue when we hit the tee box only to see an unplayable fairway. They should have told us this in advance. - Tee boxes were in poor shape with dry dirt patches on most tee boxes. This shows a lack of caring on behalf of the grounds crew. They can shift the tee box location daily to prevent this issue but they don't. The UGLY - You have to know this course to score well. If you are new to the course remember to play the yardage and take the driver out of your hands. Several holes call for an iron off the tee. If you don't, expect to lose a lot of balls. - The GPS system has advertisements every shot. You literally have to touch the screen after each shot to remove the ad in order to see distance and hole information. It drives you crazy to the point that you turn off the GPS on the cart. read more

Had my wedding on Dec 3, 2017. It was the most amazing experience I had with Whitney Oaks Golf Club! Kelsey (manager) made my wedding day so easy with no stress at all!!! Went in, change to my wedding gown and then everything was ready. She and her staff provided me food and drink all night. BEST VENUE OUT THERE! No planning needed just tell them the colors, the food and what you want to be done that day... voila and it's all done!! From what I have been hearing about wedding are tiring and stressful and how the bride doesn't eat ... I felt that wasn't true lol! We came here for a friend's wedding this past weekend. It's a nice location. Though it was super cold on a December afternoon, the ceremony was held outside, overlooking the golf course. It was a bit muddy (especially for those of us wearing heels or long skirts), but fortunately this particular ceremony was super short, so we hurriedly went upstairs to get warm. The reception area fit about 100 people comfortably. Any more than that would have been too crowded. Appetizers were good, bar employees were friendly, and the buffet was good (though my husband didn't like the food....something about BBQ sauce, but I think he just doesn't like buffets in general). My husband said one thing he noticed was that the floors/carpets were dirty. I hadn't noticed that when we were there, but I didn't really spend much time looking on the floor. Not sure if the vendors were part of this golf club, but the DJ and photo booth employees were all pretty cool. Would recommend this venue if you have a wedding of 100 or less. Seems like a good choice, especially if you live close by. read more

Great golf course. The conditions were fantastic. Sure some areas of grass was a little yellowish, but that is to be expected during this time of year. I have played many other courses in the Sacramento area recently and this course is by far my favorite. First off, the carts are on the fancier side with huge cushioned seats and a GPS screen built in to the carts which really helps with distances. This course is on the challenging side, with quite a few dog legged holes which the GPS screen will alert you about so you can plan your shot. The greens are smaller than most which isnt a bad thing. The greens play a bit slow as well. Overall, its a nice, challenging course and the price is very reasonable. I will be playing here again! read more

This is for their restaurant, Pyramid Bar & Grill, which is open to the public. We popped by on a hot weekday afternoon and found an indoor table with a pretty view of a water fountain and the course. You go to the bar to give your order, but the bartender brings your food to the table. The woman working that day was very nice :) Food came out pretty quickly and portions were generous. I had the Reuben sandwich, which was tasty and lean, that came with a side of slaw, which was interestingly made with napa cabbage and dressed nicely without a lot of mayo. Would go back when in the area as long as a table with a view was available. read more

If you pay for 18 holes and they have a tournament beforehand, they do NOT let you know that the bar is closed when you hook your tee time so you get to play for 5 hours with no food and nobody give any sort of warning. It just boggles my mind that they feel comfortable giving people the impression that they can get food on hole 9 (like any other day) and be screwed for another 2-2 1/2 hours. It feels like they are deceiving their customers and it's a pretty crappy way to treat people. I'd rather play at Turkey than here now. Can't even buy a bag of chips! read more

Played here this past week for the first time. Course conditions were great. Greens were quick and consistent. Fairways were tight and rolled. I wish the practice putting greens were closer to the speed of the courses. Nice practice facility. Very tight course with houses everywhere. Most holes have directional poles to guide your tee shots as you can not typically see the entire hole from tee boxes. I will play a few more woods from the tee next time knowing there is actually more room than you can see. read more

Returned to Whitney oaks for the first time in over ten years. I was treated with one of the worst experiences golfing I've ever had. The starter who is drunk on power and quite condescending, needs a serious attitude adjustment. After nobody called us to start like always , our tee time came and went and we decided since nobody seemed to be in control at the pro shop , we took the initiative and went off on one. The pro shop Crew inside was polite and Efficient and good at customer service, but failed to put up a sign or inform us of the high school team was there playing and they were having us all go off on 10 instead. Wish somebody had told us this. Everything was going fine I shot 41 on the front , then we get a chance to meet your ambassador starter. Wish I had gotten his name or picture. He is not doing your business any good. He was rude , inconsiderate and attempted to Shame and blame us for your inability to manage a good golf course effectively and efficiently. He made sure to talk loudly so that the group waiting in front of us and the group waiting behind us heard what was going on. In my younger stupider years I would have slugged his pompous ass. With age comes wisdom. We all played like crap after that interaction. 55 for me on the back 9. All four of us had very bad opinions of your starter and I will not be returning there to spend my hard earned golf dollars. Apparently you guys are making so much money you can burn through paying customers who play over 100 rounds per year by treating them like ca ca. We want to give a shout out to the staff at the Whitney Oaks Golf Course/Clubhouse in Rocklin. Our daughter got married at the venue last weekend and we could not have asked for a more special day. The clubhouse facility was exceptional and our wedding guests were in awe of the clubhouse, grounds and view of the golf course and valley. This facility is the ideal place for the wedding of your dreams. Our coordinator Kelsey was so helpful and attentive throughout the entire process. Due to the COVID pandemic, the wedding had to be postponed 4 times and Kelsey kept in contact with us over the last few years to answer any questions or concerns that we may have had. She was always so kind and helpful. Kelsey and her staff were so accommodating and tended to our every need. Staff handled the venue set-up and clean-up after the wedding. Staff serving the appetizers, food buffet and bartenders were truly exceptional. The wedding party loved the Thunder Valley transportation shuttles where many of the wedding party guests stayed. Whitney Oaks Golf Course staff were helpful in transporting those who needed assistance to the lower wedding lawn area in expanded golf carts. Kelsey worked the day of the rehearsal and the day of the wedding to ensure that the bridal procession went smoothly and everyone knew their role in the wedding day's event. We had a glitch where we were one bridal bouquet short before the start of the wedding procession. Kelsey immediately jumped in and saved the day with taking flowers from some of the tables to duplicate the other bridesmaids' bouquets. Kelsey's quick thinking saved the moment. Not only do we see her as a very competent coordinator, we feel that we have found a very special friend. Kelsey and staff did a wonderful job coordinating with the other wedding vendors. It is that coordination and experience that made the event truly unique. We heard from some of the wedding guests that this was the most beautiful and exceptional wedding they ever attended. We ordered the cake through the venue (provided by Thunder Valley) and we were not disappointed. The wedding cake was gorgeous and we believe it was one of the best fruit basket cakes we have ever had. We would highly recommend the Whitney Oaks Golf Course/Clubhouse to anyone looking for a wedding or special event venue. Once again, kudos to Kelsey and staff for ensuring that our daughter and son-in-law had their dream wedding. read more

Our "home" course. Love this place, thankful to have friends who live nearby (or RIGHT on top of.) We love to meet up with friends for a round of FRIENDLY golf! So thankful to have been shown the wonderful sport that is golf, many years ago by my Dad. Back then, I was a competitive softball player, the two do NOT go hand in hand. He'd be proud to know that my Husband (also a Mike) has taught me this wonderful game, using the patience and expertise needed (even though NO ONE--even the PROS are "perfect" at ANYTHING!) I am very partial to Hole # 3 and # 15. These ones challenge me, which I meet head on! I never back down to a challenge, unless it's TOO scary. This course meets our needs, and meets MY need for the perfect hot dog at the half way mark at Hole # 9! Look forward to our scheduled April round with friends! read more

I love this course! I've never shot a low score, but it doesn't matter! The course is beautiful, maintained in excellent condition and friendly to golfers of all skill levels. The clubhouse is comfortable and a nice place for breakfast or lunch, or meetings of all kinds. The golf shop is small but offers some bargains. As is typical of courses, they could have a better selection of women's clothes and gadgets. The course itself offers challenges to even low handicap golfers. There are plenty of risk-reward holes and approaches. Go on out and give it a try! read more

Ownership needs to upgrade the golf car fleet, There are not enough golf carts and ones they have are worn out. Our cart couldn't navigate the hills and had to be pushed by the twosome we played with. We reported It four times requesting replacement cart but no one responded. At at end of our round we had to abandon the cart on the course. We complained to the manager and all he could offer was complementary 9 holes. He went on to say they don't have enough golf carts and never got our messages over the GPS system. We we should have been given our money back. Will not return to play this course again unless they get new golf carts. read more

We had our wedding ceremony and reception at Whitney Oaks in May 2022 and it was absolutely beautiful! Kelsey and Madison were life savers and SO helpful in planning for our big day. I couldn't thank them enough for all that they did for us to help make the day perfect. Whitney Oaks' views and scenery were gorgeous and made for some great wedding shots. I recommend grabbing your photographer and a golf cart to do Golden Hour photos by the big oak tree! The alcohol selection at the venue is great and the dinner was amazing. I still have friends and family that praise the cocktail hour hors d'oeuvres and the filet at dinner we served! We had about 135 people and around 14 tables and they fit great in the reception space - tons of room to walk around and mingle between tables. The pricing was really reasonable compared to a lot of other venues we toured and we are so happy with our decision to have had our wedding at Whitney Oaks!! read more

I celebrated my wedding reception here some years ago with the father of my daughters March 12th 2010 and this golf club memory will always be a big highlight into my early 20s. I have only been married once as I wish it should be for anyone but it's not. I lost my husband Heath Tessmer a year after we got married he had just turned 26 and welcomed our second daughter. She was only 14 months when we lost her daddy and my other daughter was only 4. He wrote a review about this place some years ago because he loved our wedding reception so much and how accommodating our coordinator was Lindsay. He was very big on always writing good reviews to people he felt truly deserved the honor. In his honor I have documented some of the highs and lows of my life since his passing on Yelp because why not haha and he got me addicted to looking out for good reviews before you go somewhere or buy something online. He was a highly educated man he was becoming a nurse RN before his death. He graduated with a 4.0 gpa and was truly one of the smartest men I've ever met next to my father :) and now in the future a loving boyfriend and beautiful baby son. He truly had a way with people and people truly loved him in his life. We both loved the variations in food at our buffet table was definitely our guests favorite and I highly recommend this beautiful golf club for wedding receptions. Our wedding photos turned out so beautiful may he Rest In Peace he was truly such a loved young handsome adventurous lively funny charismatic tall blue eyed man see you on the other side someday love. I would love to bring my daughters here someday they are not old enough to appreciate the memory just yet because they are only 13, and 10 but one day I hope to recreate a memory with them here so they can see where a lot of my life began. I have the most handsome guardian angel for life. I'll never forget the day he made me a wife and the joy he brought into my life with blessing me as a mom. Always love and hug your loved ones you never know where your roads may lead you to. Enjoy life always as best as you can even if your young love your husband, partner, boyfriend, or girlfriend as much as possible because you never know if your going to lose them. The people who work here are very skilled and happy go lucky people who make a wedding run smoothly and make a bride feel at ease as her guests can enjoy the ambiance and scenery not to mention great dance floor haha all my guests loved our very experienced dj we spent 10 k on our wedding it was so beautiful family helped make flowers bouquets, a wedding cake. I will cherish these memories for years to come. I'm 32 now and I still remember my wedding day. Positive vibes all around to the folks working that night of my wedding they truly made me a happy bride. Life isn't always easy but my family is healthy and well and I'm truly so thankful. Love love love this course! It's freaking beautiful from start to finish. It's well kept , immaculate year round. It's challenging and surprises around every corner. They have upgraded even more since its been managed or in conjunction with Thunder Valley. It will keep you coming back for more. It's downright fun. Plenty of water features . They players seem to keep things moving along . I'm no expert for sure but for a recreational players like me, I'm able to enjoy myself . Love the driving range too. So much to say and it's all good. I recently attended an event at the Whitney Oaks Golf Club and was blown away by the beautiful venue! You can tell the grounds and views are amazing before you even walk in. Every aspect of the course and the golf club is beautiful and well taken care of. Parking is also plentiful and close which is always a plus. Right when you walk in there is a small lobby and off the lobby is the golf club store as well as the bar and a huge banquet room! I would love to attend a wedding or other event here because it can easily hold hundreds of people. The bar is beautiful and they have a great patio out back with plenty of tables and chairs to relax in. All the staff that I encountered were friendly and helpful. Everyone had a smile on their face and was super professional. Extra props to the bartenders for making drinks quickly, efficiently and perfectly and for the staff members carrying around the passed appetizers and having to deal with all of us! The view outside of the golf club is amazing! It is located high up in the Rocklin hills so there is a great view of the surrounding hills covered in trees, as well as their beautiful grounds.
