I have been a customer at In-Shape for the past four years and have regularly used the soccer facilities without issue. Unfortunately, my experience last night 02/27/2026 was extremely disappointing and unprofessional. For context, this facility has two soccer fields: one requires check-in for league play, and the other can be privately booked, which does not require check-in. My group had booked the smaller field for the evening, as we have done many times before. As I entered the facility, an employee named Isabelle stopped me by whistling at me from a distance. I found this extremely disrespectful and demeaning, as it felt as though I was being called over like an animal rather than addressed as a paying customer. In my four years coming here, no employee has ever treated me this way. When I approached, she spoke to me in a harsh and aggressive tone, asking, "What are you doing here? Where are you going? What's your name?" I calmly explained that I was there to play on the smaller field and that check-in was not required because it was not league play. She interrupted me, raised her voice, and began walking toward me in an intimidating manner, insisting that I could not go to the field without checking in. When I asked for her name, she refused to provide it and continued demanding my name in an aggressive tone. I later saw her name tag and noted it myself. Even after a front desk employee confirmed my identity to her, she continued questioning me and even referred to me as "little boy," which was completely inappropriate and unprofessional. Shortly after, she and another employee approached my teammates on the field and spoke to them in the same rude and disrespectful manner, insisting we needed to check in despite the field being privately booked. By that point, my entire group felt uncomfortable and offended by the way we were being treated. I do want to note that the other employee, Bladea, later apologized to me and my friend when Isabelle was not around, which I appreciated. However, the overall experience was still very upsetting and should never happen to customers. As a long-time customer who brings consistent business to this facility, I expect to be treated with basic respect and professionalism. There is a difference between enforcing policies and speaking to customers in a hostile, demeaning way. This experience left me feeling disrespected and unwelcome. I strongly encourage management at In-Shape Health Clubs to address this matter and provide additional customer service training so no other customers are treated in this manner. read more

One of the most disgusting gyms ever. So much dust,hair in between the equipment and on. Many Machines are old! Some don't work properly & I addressed it to the staff. They just laugh and that's it. This place is not a gym they say, it's a sport's faculty. So they don't care about you and sadly it's dusty for the kids who are playing sports. My hands were so dirty when I was done working out. I have never experienced this. I don't even want to get started with the bathrooms. I only came here because it's close to loomis where I live near. I'll take my membership elsewhere read more

We visited as we were in the area so this isn't our regular location. This branch specializes in team sports like basketball, lacrosse, indoor soccer, with equipment upstairs and a childcare kids club that's only opened on weekdays. It's pretty big, but there's no swimming pools. Many different sports are played here. The locker rooms are small but do have showers although they need more cleaning. In the common area there's a cafe with pretty reasonable prices that sells salads, sandwiches, pizzas, and other fast food items like fries, chips, and ice cream. Additionally, they also sell all kinds of beverages and even beers, wine, hard seltzer, hard ciders, and hard kombuchas. There's a few arcade games for kids to play with and lots of TV throughout so kids watching/waiting for their siblings who are playing in games are entertained. My little one really liked the multiple basketball courts and that it's big. read more

I don't even feel like they deserve one star! This morning (Saturday, 1/10) I arrived at the gym around 6:05 AM, but the doors were not open. It looked like there was no one inside. I waited for a while and eventually had to leave. According to your posted hours, the gym is supposed to be open from 6:00 AM to 9:00 PM on Saturdays and Sundays. Because of this, I wasted valuable time during a busy morning and was unable to work out. I was not the only one affected several other people also had to turn around and leave. There was no notice or announcement explaining the closure. This situation is honestly unacceptable and extremely frustrating. It completely ruined my morning. I can't believe a gym would be operated this way. This is not a joke--how is this even possible? I recently switched to this gym because it is closer to my home, but after this experience, I am very disappointed!!! How am I supposed to trust their business hours and feel comfortable coming in for a morning workout from now on? read more

Our basketball league plays some games here and we've been to multiple birthday/sports parties here. My almost 9 year old has been begging me to plan his bday party here and I can't seem to get anyone to acknowledge my request or return my emails or calls. I am only reviewing the workout areas, since I did not utilize the sports courts. The workout equipment, locker room and workout areas need a facelift. Not the cleanest gym I have ever been to. We were here visiting for weekend. We had an entire basketball practice here and the management was great at setting things up for us. Special thanks to Coach Lang for letting the kids try out the Shoot360 platform. If you live in the area I highly recommend Coach Lang for training and having the kids rotating on the shoot 360 platform is great additional work for their development! read more

I love their new day smart recreation app it makes it extremely easy to manage your team. I put together a team entirely of free agents and I managed payment all through the app and communication all through the app. The referees are really good top-notch and the fields are in good condition. The restrooms are clean and the snack bar is amazing! Check-in is a real smooth process. read more

Ok gym but could be great. Every day I play a game of which treadmill works today. The plastic clips are broken, so your phone falls off, especially because most of the machines are off balance and shake. It could be cleaner. The same gum has been stuck to the railing since I joined in December. This gym gets the job done HOWEVER, it would be better IF their smith machines went all the way down and didn't have stoppers about 3 levels from the lowest setting. There's only two barbell stations for like deadlifts and hipthrust and when it's busy the smith machines could be utilized a lot more for those kinds of exercises. Also for PREGNANT members like myself being able to hipthrust on a smith machine would give stability you can't get with a free barbell because it needs to be mid thigh and not on your pelvis. So because of this can't really hip thrust here while pregnant and I don't feel like finding a whole new gym just for that. I've asked before if they can take the stoppers off and was told he could talk to the equipment guy but they're still the same. I just don't really see the point of limiting the ability of any machine. If they could fix that then this gym would be almost 5 stars, only thing else they could use is more kettlebells, there's some that they have but not in sets. Not sure if they're just disappearing because I know they used to have a set of some I can only find one of now but that's the only other "issue" I have getting a workout here. Before COVID lots of classes & trainer...Loved going. Now only a few classes (Thank goodness they have a great cycle & core class by Erin on Mon & Wed - she gets 5 STARS)!!! The club has completely changed & need to get people involved with classes & trainers instead its is totally changing to a basketball & soccer gym. I am not a member but come to this location for the over 30 men's indoor soccer league. Really Nice/well maintained facilities here. The league is run pretty efficiently but not sure how a couple of the teams (really one team in particular) are still in the league. Super dirty players with fights breaking out every time they play. I had to stop playing them because I was two foot tackled on multiple occasions and almost broke my leg. Upper management needs to take a better look at who ever is running the league and how they discipline teams that have had multiple incidents. If they are reading this they will know the team I am talking about. Hope things change before someone really gets injured and the league folds. read more

Yoga Yoga Yoga, oh how I love thee ...wanna go steady? Elizabeth has been subbing for Bernadette and it is an AWESOME workout. Intense from start to finish, you won't regret the session. Check Cal-fit's schedule for when she is teaching, time VERY WELL SPENT. Oh and the icing on the cake? The music. Johnny Cash, Grateful Dead, Pixies, Beatles, Bob Marley and the epic list goes on. I wanted to update my review of California Family Fitness to reflect how great the gym was when we were members and also how great they were when they handled our cancellation of our account. We had to cancel the membership because of family events that made it so we needed to pick and choose what activities we were involved with, so it had nothing to do with the gym. When I went in to request the cancellation, I was helped immediately and without any sort of issue. I was treated with respect and kindness over my situation. I knew the cancellation policy was paying one more month of dues and that was explained to me again so there was no issue or hidden fees associated with cancellation. We had been members at CalFit for over five years and we frequented their Rocklin locations. I have nothing but good things to say about this gym. The staff was great, the child care was amazing and the overall gym experience was great. read more

I have been coming here for the past year with my daughter for various sporting events mostly indoor soccer. I don't work out here, but i have found this place and the people who work here to be friendly. This is a huge gym with plenty of room to spread out. I have never seen this place so crowded where it is not comfortable to work out and I think that has a lot to do with the way it is laid out. I also really like the snack bar and the fact if you really wanted to sip a cold one while watching a soccer game you can. The food here is actually pretty decent and what you pay for....nothing to complain about here and like coming here to watch the kiddos play. Cal Blues training camps hosted by coach Mo at Cal Fit in Rocklin are a must for any young player looking to improve their soccer skills. I know the Cal Blues teams run a lot of stuff through here and I would really suggest anything they offer. My daughter has gotten a ton out of there programs plus all of there coaches are really nice and professional. read more

A great gym and it's never too busy. The people who work there aren't very nice though. Many times where I've called and asked questions and they have the "when are you going to be done talking" attitude... I try not to talk to any of the workers here and just do my workout and get out. I think they forget that they need to have customer service because they work at a gym. read more

I come here pretty much for their fitness classes. Obviously, it's very self-paced because the facilitators are not paid to train everyone individually. However, if you need help, you can always ask the instructor to fix your form or guide you through. They're pretty nice. Fitness equipment is ok, not exactly pristine but you'll get by. Treadmills have tv screens so bring your earphones if interested. Locker rooms have lockers with set locks so you don't have to bring your own. The facility has space for soccer and basketball games so expect lots of kids and parents in the first level. I don't mind it much tho. read more

I have been a member at this gym for over 2 years. I went in the sales office today and 'attempted' to speak with the sales manager because I had questions about my membership. I tried to explain my situation but the sales manager acted like I was 'bothering him' ...he rolled his eyes at me.....and he sat their eating a bag of chips the entire time! HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE!! I really like the location of this gym and all of the other employees have been great! I canceled my membership today just because of this one person. So Sad. read more

BEWARE! About a year ago, My husband joined and had to cancel his membership immediately! It was so suspicious that 2 days after filling out application, and submitting checking info routing number for additional discount, we experienced check FRAUD. Checks were written throughout the Sacramento and Roseville area. (Somehow, with our routing number, crooks were able to fraudulently use fake checks) We cancelled our checking account. This was a nightmare and an inconvenience! We had to file a police report case. Unfortunately, we Cancelled Membership with Cal Fitness! read more

I am very frustrated with this business. My wife and I signed up to be at a gym where we would have child care and access to ammenities like a pool and group classes. The child care is very unsafe. We have a 16 month old, and in the toddler area there were at least 29 children (I heard from the supervisor's count). The ratio looked to be something around 5 to 1 at best. The gym is always absolutely packed to the gils and there is very little room in the pools or on the equipment. The parking lot is also jam packed at any time of day. To the point where you have to creep behind people who are returning to their cars. You will be signed up for a year term with a very large termination fee whether or not that is clearly communicated verbally. Be aware of that. Overall, there are plenty of high quality gyms around, this is like a Walmart of gyms. So I would definitely ask you not to sign up. I understand that I signed a contract for a year term, but it was very unclear to me that I was doing so. I feel that it was underhanded in execution, but the cost to leave was worth being able to be rid of this awful company. read more

Majority of the equipment is located upstairs to utilize the downstairs floor for a variety of soccer and basketball fields. If you get bored, they serve beer and wine in their snack bar, restaurant. I wanted to try a different gym tonight close to my house. This one is about a 5 minute drive from my house. This gym is huge! Cal Expo huge! There are two full size basketball courts and two indoor soccer fields inside here. Also the cross fit stations and weights for working out. Upstairs are the cardio machines, TRX station, aerobic rooms and a spin class room. All the cardio machines are the latest and greatest. So I did a little cardio then headed downstairs to the courts for some B-ball action. (cue R Kelly's I believe I can fly) Overall nice staff and a nice gym. read more

Thought this would be like a deluxe or supersport type Cal Fit like Downtown and I was wrong. Outdated equipment and a locker room and lockers more typical of Japan than America. I could've gone to the Roseville club but thought this would be great like Natomas or Downtown Sac but no. Its a great place if you want to join a soccer or basketball league but you're better off dressing in athletic wear at home and foregoing the shoebox locker room. read more

This CalFit location is great for sports fans! The layout is ideal and allows for basketball, soccer, volleyball, rock climbing, working out, dining and even a little apparel shopping to go on at the same time without feeling too overcrowded. I've been playing Soccer and Futsal there for several years now and their field rental availability is usually pretty open with winter being the exception... If only there was a way *MANAGEMENT* would consider allowing for a Sunday rental of the Bantam field past 9pm (9-11pm for example) when there are games going on the Premier field until 11pm... that would be great! My group and I have struggled with this issue for several years and can't get a Bantam rental past 9pm on Sundays (due to leagues going on earlier on that same field) though there are games going on until 11pm on the Premier field... which doesn't make sense. But like I said earlier, great location. I will continue to use their facilities in the future. read more

I'll give them two stars only because they exist and when the daycare is open my son generally enjoys to hang out. Their equipment is outdated. The free weight area is over run with "gym rats" so as a woman who loves to use use free weights but doesn't like being stared at like your an alien, it's not the best environment. The weight machines upstairs are made for men, so someone who is of shorter stature (I'm 5'1") it's a challenge and not conducive to proper form which leads to injury. Now the cancellation fiasco...I wanted to cancel my membership only to be told I had to send it in writing and then bill another month! Mind you, they literally just billed my account for the month I'm in, so now its 2 more billing cycles to get out of this place! Unreal. read more

I'm upgrading my review to 2 stars for this red-headed step-child of a Cal Fit. So... it's been a touch better. There's still a lot of poorly maintained equipment, but at least the drinking fountain works regularly now, and they finally honored the Sierra College discount they've been telling me I would get almost a year ago. Better late than never. Two action items that would be nice to see done: - Fix the TV cabling. Increasing the incline on some of the treadmills results in the quality of the picture going from decently clear to almost unwatchable. Other TVs just basically don't work. - Upkeep the machines. Some of the machines squeak, don't totally work, or smell like an electronics fire waiting to happen. Is there a form I can fill out somewhere to report the machines with issues? I will say that the staff here has been really awesome recently. My hats off to all of them. Oh, and tell the big guy that it's OK to smile. =) read more

I'll add my review for Sunset to this one...minus a star for a more challenging lay out due to the indoor soccer fields. It's nice if you're playing, but they take up a lot of floor space. Killer BB court and VB courts though. Previous Sunset review: Just moved up here from the bay area, and I can say that this place is way better than what you would get in the bay for the ~$60 per month. For those of you needing an example: If you took your average crappy bay area health club and did the following math: AVG monthly dues $30 Plus all of CFF features (pools, steam room, sauna, cleanliness, people who are actually friendly, new equipment that works, showers that don't have short and curlies stuck everywhere, way hotter girls who actually smile, weights and dumbbells that actually match, indoor soccer fields, multiple clubs, etc.) You would bring those dues more up to the $100 range. So CFF is a good deal in my book. The only negatives would be the lack of flat screen TVs, no gel in addition to hairspray in the locker room, and of course people who can't figure out where to put their dumbbells back 45#'s go on the 45# spot, not the 30#. The steam room and sauna are clutch. If no one is ever tried this to relieve a hangover, do it this weekend! It is the only thing that works 10 minutes sauna then 10 minutes steam room...Nice!!!! read more
