I have been a member of pickup for almost a decade. Since 2015 if my memory serves me correct. Back then they only had one location but have now multiplied into more locations. I have always played basketball. I have always preferred organized basketball opposed to pickup street ball at the park or the gym. When I go to other gyms I'll wait up to 2 hours for a single game. Or when I go to the gym during rush hour I can never hop on a free treadmill. Here at pickup it solves all those problems. There's rarely people working out at this gym but if there is it's only about two or three people using the area. It's always clean, always smells good, always the perfect temperature in the facility. But the pride and joy of this gym is the Pick up basketball games. From 6-9pm during the week and early mornings on the weekends there are pick up games with referees and practice jerseys for everyone. Each game is ten minutes and sudden death overtime usually caused by a free throw. Yes there are free throws. Last ten seconds of the game every foul sends you to the line. It really is the best gym money has to offer if your a basketball player. If your a parent with kids wanting to join the game. They now have a youth league from 6-13 years old. They have skills camp for the kids and personal one on one training as well. read more

I like this place. Great for kids. Sometimes I shoot around myself. But you should go on a Monday or Wednesday because otherwise there will be kids practicing there. You should bring your own ball because the free balls the provide either have no air or weigh a lot. read more

I've been a member for a few months now, and overall, it's been a great value and experience. Staff is excellent, gym is clean, and the basketball court has excellent traction. Great place to both work out and play ball. All other amenities are are lackluster. For example, the locker rooms are old, no showers, generally not comfortable. Don't plan on using this at all My biggest complaint is the late opening time at 8 a.m. - I didn't realize this until after signing up. This makes it virtually impossible to sneak in a workout before normal working hours. Extending the hours earlier by just an hour or two would make a huge difference for more serious gym goers. I signed up here last year. They offered me the VIP membership which lets you bring in 2 guests for free each visit. They sold me on the court availability and the free use of the shooting machine. A month goes by and they decided to take away the VIP membership for all guests. I wasn't notified of this change. Second month the shooting machine disappears and never came back. Everything they sold me on was a lie. I came here to practice and to play pickup basketball. Unfortunately they will randomly use all the courts for 1 on 1 training sessions. Even during times they aren't supposed to. There were at least 10 different occasions where I came to shoot around and they said oh sorry all the courts have training sessions. Even though there's supposed to be a specific day/time for that. They pickup games are also pretty awful. Alot of players who don't know how to pass and think they are the main character. The only positives are that the staff is nice. I don't really blame them for not holding up the promises they made. Ultimately it's not up to them what stays and goes. If your looking for a place to practice and shoot around. Go elsewhere. If you want to play some solid games. Go elsewhere. I'm a long time member along with both my daughters. We have been with Pickup since business was slow during COVID and have been loyal members despite the ongoing policy changes and price hikes due to inflation. We love the private training coaches and facility is great. But something needs to be said about their most recent change. It's been obvious they have shifted their focus less on player development and stronger emphasis on increasing their membership numbers. In the last year, they have sold their shooting machine, implemented new protocols for parents who are spectators and most annoying is another increase in their private training packages and costs wi the very little notice. Additionally they have no incentive for long time members locked into historical pricing or any type of referral bonus. Love the coaches, hate the management. *****Update***** Thanks for your speedy response Jordan. The price increase across the board is not reflected upon the coaches' hourly pay. My son 13 yo just finished the youth league with this gym and he had so much fun, win or loose. The coaches are all professional and cool! The kids all respect them! Facility is ok. Only has one full court. Staff is nice. Only problem I have is the refs in tournament mode. They are 99 cent refs that don't know the game. I can't speak on the ones that are there not in tournament (for money). I asked them to cancel my membership and they still processed to try and charge me. To bad for them I canceled the card they tried to use. If you go here just skip the whole tournament because it is a joke. read more

I cancelled my membership after finishing out they charged me $100 a month plus a $100 initiation fee (should have know they were a bit greedy at the start huh?). While I was talking to other members there and they were being charged way less. Then after I cancelled I was magically signed back up again two months later and had been paying them for over a year. I only found out about this when I changed credit cards and they called me saying I hadn't payed them the last month, when I never signed back up or had even been to there gym in over a year (they tried to get my new credit card information claiming I had to also pay them for the month). I was younger when I signed up and it seemed like they were just trying to take advantage of me, I have now learned to always double check bank statements at the end of every month. I guess it was just an expensive lesson but when I tried to get the money back that they basically stole from me by signing me up again they refused. So if you are a member or thinking about becoming one be sure to make sure they don't try anything and keep a close eye on whichever card you give them. I really do enjoy basketball and the idea is great, I just don't appreciate how they conduct business and don't offer any compensation for a "simple mistake" made completely on there end. Also don't get me started on the shooting machine prices, as that was a big part of the reason I joined. So I immediately used them when I first signed up, and they waited until half way through the month to tell me they were going to charge me more for using them, again I was not made aware of this by the staff until half way through the month. So when I said I won't use the machine anymore because I wasn't aware of the extra charge they said it's okay we already charged your account for them because you've already used the machine. Anyway if you are being charged a lot ask the other people there what they are being charged, see if they are taking advantage of you as well. Just all in all had a terrible experience and they seem to just be in it for the money. read more

Before he walked away, Sean pointed out the young kid's father. So I walked over to his father and told him exactly what I told Sean. The young kid's father appreciated my gesture (handshake) of bringing up a situation where his child learned something. I love PickUp USA, the facility is great for basketball players, but if you're mainly interested in fitness like me, the fitness area is never crowded and always clean, wich is different from other gyms in the area. The training program is fantastic! I've been working out with Trainer Miguel with a focus on toning and he has done a great job. He's accomodating and personalize all sessions. Don't come here... I would give their management zero star if I could. Looks like I am not the only one got "kicked out" by the management.... I signed up my daughter for the basketball group class two months ago, took her there every week & I was able to sit on the bench watch her throughout the class. Just recently they told me I can not stay there to watch my 11 year old daughter because I don't have a membership. Yesterday I stayed in the lobby with another parent, the guy came & told us we were only allowed to stay there for "five" min. Beyond that he has to ask us to leave. while we were leaving, he said in a very loud tone "again, it's only $20 to join guys! This really leave a bad taste in my mouth that I felt so unpleasant. Horrible customer service. I called and left several messages to resolve membership issue and never received a call back. When I did get through after several attempts, the manager, Fernando, was not helpful at all! Back in June, I decided sign up me and my son for the $10/month promo offer. After a few weeks we decided that the location was not convenient to where we live. We also did not think that the limited use of the ONE full court was worth continuing the membership. Most of the time, the facility is being occupied by private lessons or youth clinic. After a few visits, I decided to cancel my membership. The person who processed the cancellation apparently only canceled my membership and not my son's. Several months later I noticed that my credit card was still being charged. When I called to inquire about the charges, I was made aware that my membership was canceled but not my son's. Fernando, the manager went ahead and canceled my son's membership. I explained to him that it makes no sense that I would cancel my membership and not my son's. He agrees and said that he will look into and speak with his boss and get back to me. A week went by and I heard nothing from Fernando. I called back and left several messages to call me back but NOTHING! Today, 10/12, I finally got in touch with Fernando and explained to him the situation and he said the best he can do is offer me credit but I told him it was unacceptable because the location is not convenient for me and I can't see myself going back there. I do not recommend this place. You're better off going to a local YMCA or pick up game at the park. read more

Worst gym I've been to! Cancellation fee requires 3 months payment! They promise this solution of no more waiting for pick up games, but the wait times to play one game was over an hour! Pictures on their website/Facebook are deceiving, there is only one full court! They have some nice staff, but overall the price is too much ($60 per month) for what they offer. I play basketball here on Wed. nights. Our group just reserves the court for a two hour block each Wed night. They have one full basketball court and two half courts on the side. There is also this section in one corner where you can lift weights (i've never bothered to look over there so i can't describe that). I play at night and it's still a bit warmer than I'd like... nothing close to unbearable though. I don't think this place is ventilated very well. It may not matter though since it can only accommodate one full court game at a time. I've never played there during a summer day though. The basketball court surface was a concern for me on my first visit (I still have nightmares about that American Sports Centers in Anaheim). This place is basically a large warehouse with cement floors. For the courts they use this synthetic (?) material that is just laid on top of the cement floors. There is some banner on the wall that says the floor is the same stuff that is used in college basketball (i think). Well, whatever this material it, it works fine. There are no dead spots and I don't really have any complaints. SERVICE I think only one guy works here at night. I see him cleaning sometimes and last week I even saw him cleaning the sofa. The whole place is pretty clean so it's not surprising PARKING Parking lot with lots of spaces. *I come here at night so this is the only place that is open. read more

I've been a member for a little bit over a year, and I have nothing but positive things to say about this facility. They have organized pickup games with ACTUAL REFEREES which solves the issue of arguing over a foul call every 2 plays. They also have the shooting gun and vertimax which can help you improve your game to an elite level. They're new manager, Mr. Henry Argueta, is top notch when it comes to professionalism and customer service. He has a background in soccer, basketball, and also football and works as a part time soccer trainer in his free time. Henry is doing a fantastic job managing this facility and I would highly urge you to check out this gym if you're looking to take your game to the next level. Quit a while back but going to give my review assuming not much has changed. (probably hasn't) I would not recommend this specific gym to anyone looking to play recreationally and for fun. Monday through Fridays you have what seems like teenagers under 5 foot 5 playing in the ref games trying to prove themselves and join the NBA. You can notice immediately that a different set of people come on weekends (seems like the more chill people) and on weekdays just to avoid each other. Management does not care about these kids driving away their customers as I see the manager just standing by the side and watching them play basketball half the time, not really sure what he does. AC seldom seems on too, What it really comes down to is.. You pay 30$ for basic membership.. which is basically two open courts that are almost always corwded.. and then 60$ if you want to play referee'd games and deal with real shitty people... the value proposition is very thin there... I guess i'm at the point in my life where i don't want to pay double the price to deal with that type of thing. It was a waste of money in my opinion. read more

I visited Pickup USA that is located at Irwindale, CA. I used a guest pass to experience their officiated games on Saturday. Ralph, the manager, showed me around and the price of the gym membership. I was there for almost 4 hours that day and really enjoyed their officiated games. It was first come first serve. The gym was very clean and Ralph was very helpful and friendly. The price was on a higher-end in my opinion. I would definitely get the membership if the price were cheaper. I would recommend this gym to people who love playing bball! read more

I've been a member for over a month now. The staff run workouts are more than a sweat-great way to get into shape that translates easily to basketball & fitness in general. I joined because at age 40 I still love being active & I cannot anybody to play with. This is a 'Baller's heaven. Very clean facility BTW. there are 2 refs officiating games (check schedule). People come to play-not argue, bitch, or complain. there are no "Hackers" here. good competition & cool peeps. the atmosphere is chill & sportsmanship is a priority. you must be a member & there is a monthly fee. I used a free pass and this place has so much potential. Pick up basketball with refs and no arguing over who has next sounds ideal but right now it's still a fantasy for now. They try to sell you with a $30 a month membership which is similar to the big name gyms but if you want to actually play on the ONLY full court with refs you gotta pay double. It would be worth it if they didn't waste their space with 2 half courts. One full court causes over a 30 to 40 minute wait. You're better off going to the park. The refs are friendly but you get more calls playing pickup... The actual thing that put a bad taste in my mouth was one of the employees who wasn't working and was playing. I caught him altering the names to put himself ahead of people and heard him say "I work here so f*ck them". He ended up on my team and when the game started we had 6 so he kicked 1 guy off. Then when he didn't touch the ball in the first possession he walked off the court. If you were actually good at ball you wouldn't be working there, so man up and respect the system. read more

Basketball is life for me until demise. My career took flight during a half time Los Angeles Clipper slam dunk contest where I preformed live on tv eliminating hundreds of opponents where first place was earned with friends on court. Age sixteen I had the honor to meet Latrell Sprewell, Chris Mullin, Kareem Adul Jabbar etc. One of my long time friends is Lavar Ball and fam which is where I learned to perform at a pro level. Moving forward into high school where i was being recruited by the NBA/ The big television opportunity presented itself quickly almost too fast lol! James worthy was the host. Then came Ultra Student Athletes Varsity Red men's or b-ball traveling team. In present time I decided I wanted to shoot some hoops, so I went to pick up USA. Plush to say the least. Prices are reasonable and staff is awesome! They even have a full gym plus shooting practice machines. If there is something I would ad in the future it would be a health bar for long basketball days however there is food right around the way if you don't pack a lunch. Hoops! read more

Came here for open house, so a one day experience. Advertises a premium basketball experience with officiated games and organized waiting list, but ends up being the typical pick up ball experience but with even less incentive for teamplay due to the short time you have on the court. Short time to run with frequent stops also means less exercise. Amenities, classes, gym equipment are all nice extras but not the main reason to pay $60 a month membership to play basketball. Unfortunately, here you still encounter all the problems you see in other places. You have the people that jack up shots once they get the ball, throw tempers, play no defense, play lazy foul laden defense, etc. Furthermore, you would think officiated play would help people play civilized, except I saw someone physically get run off the court into objects on the sideline due to the frustration from not getting calls their way. There's a lot of frustration with calls and you see people arguing with the refs, and then committing cheap fouls to express their frustration. Got to the point of a technical though so that showed them... They use a 10 minute timer, which keeps running during dead balls or fouls until the final few minutes. Therefore, some of the precious play time is spent resetting at the sideline. The winning team ends up scoring around 9-14 points at the end. Also, did not like their flooring -- its very hard with no shock absorption, give or bounce. Personal preference, but it is hard on the knees and more painful if you fall. read more

Definitely a pretty good private gym. I had a day trial trial here with one of my friends and I really like how all the equipment are pretty new and clean. The cardio side contains all the basic and essential machines you will need. They also have staff going around once in a while wiping down the machines and equipment. The basketball courts are like half the gym and contains a very safe environment for players. Everyone here are also super friendly and seems to know everyone already. I would say its a good social and bonding gym since its pretty private. I would love to sign up for membership here but its a little too pricey for me. There's a $100 initiation fee and then it would be $30 per month after that. No long term contract required. I would definitely recommend this place to any of my basketball playing friends. read more

All I can say is that this place is amazing! I have never seen anything like it before. It is a large, clean, professional Basketball Gym with a fitness gym and many other amenities. This is a place where a person can come and play basketball in a safe environment and on a real court. You even have officials referring every game. This is truly a basketball payers paradise! If you love to play basketball or want to improve your skill, I suggest coming by and checking in out. I don't think there is another place like this in California. Once you come here, you will never want to play ball on the streets or at large fitness gym. Update: They've made some MAJOR upgrades to the facility. They now have the Sport Court flooring on ALL of the courts. The weight room is massive! Tons of options for lifting, cardio, and stretching. They've also added some auxiliary equipment for up-ing your basketball game such as the Vertimax trainer, and shoot-away rebound gun so you don't have to go around chasing balls. The personal training is incredibly helpful, both in increasing your fitness level but also increasing your performance on the court. The trainers have great attention to detail and offer valuable advice. They've also increased the size of the locker rooms and bathrooms, and added a women's locker room. I dont want talk about the membership price here because they alway change, and good luck to get the "good deal". ok two things: 1. Poor management, I come here at least 5 days a week, and I have been reporting some equipment that missing parts for yrs..... they are ignoring it. 2. Discrimination, at least that's what I felt. most people come here on the weekend for "referee" games (they're just random guys with that shirts on ) my point is: if you want skip the waiting line to play, you better "know" them be cool or like buddy with them, so they can put your number in the front!!! think about to tell manager? good luck. they are not that help at all. they'll say "ok, i see, sorry about that" and nothing else. that's what happened and happening to me and my friends as old member here. the only reason we staying because it's right next to our house. This is the best basketball gym in Southern California. The facilities are perfect. The trainers are awesome. They have something for everyone. My son has improved his game 100% since starting training with Miguel. All of the trainers, Malcolm and Jessie, too, are amazing! I cannot recommend this place enough.
