No bueno. We were excited to try this place and were super disappointed in every way. The room is fine, but looks like a cafe-turned-Mexican restaurant simply by the addition of some flags and posters. The service was inept and strange. They clearly do not know what they're doing. We started out with cold, stale chips and a tomato sauce that had a little spice to it, but wouldn't be called "salsa." Our food was completely mediocre, except for the mole which was just bad. Prices are way too high for the quality. Definitely not giving this one a second chance. read more

We had a perfectly lovely afternoon with snacks and drinks on a sunny day in Stuyvesant. We sat outside with a beautiful view of the river. Our server was friendly and the food was delicious - generously sized pupusas with yummy sauce and veggies on top. Love the chips and salsa while you wait. Liked this restaurant when it initially opened and the menu was limited. Recently, the quality of the food has diminished. For example, I ordered steak fajitas and was told by the waiter that they couldn't cook the steak to order. So, the meat was cooked well done rather than medium rare which I would have preferred. Also, in subsequent visits to the restaurant, there was less and less meat in the steak fajitas. Also, the quality of service is not what initially was. Yes, there's a beautiful view of the Hudson River to look out onto but I go to restaurants for the quality of the food and have been disappointed with this particular restaurant of late. read more

Food was fantastic, recommended! The experience was spoiled by sub-par service. We sat and waited for our check in a half empty dining room while our waitress had a smoke break in the parking lot. The other waitress saved the day (thank you young lady!) and the smoke break continued as we drove out of the parking lot. read more

I have been to "Pico" five times now. I still find the food to be excellent, fresh, flavorful, good and hot, generous portions and the tres leches is sublime. The location on the river is wonderful. Now, on to the margarita. They need a recipe! For $9 each, I am expecting top notch. I definitely feel that the drink did not have fresh lime juice. I did not ask for a special tequilla, only the house margarita and it is not worth $9! Where is the bartender? I so want this place to succeed, but the other issue is still the slow and haphazard service. The table was not wiped down. The waiter threw the fork and knife down on table and we had no knapkins. I know that it is very difficult to start a restaurant and this place certainly has great food. So, please go there and support this place! It takes time to perfect and correct issues at restaurants. read more

A great find off the beaten track. Located in an intimate sized Victorian storefront with front porch and indoor dining, the Hudson River is directly across the street and there's not a bad view in the house. The menu is your standard Mexican fare and cocktails. Their mole says was fantastic. Turns out all of their sauces are made in house. My sizzling steak fajitas were truly some of the best I've had. I had a fresh mango purée margarita and then an unbelievably rich Tres Leche's cake. It was a happy place with great food and atmosphere. I highly recommend. read more

The BEST!! The food, the atmosphere, the service, the ambience all top. Don't be disillusioned from the outside appearance. It appears like an old time saloon. Inside everything is great. They have s few tables outside and you can watch the Hudson River which is just across the street. A stones throw away. The owner is doing it all the right ways. Great to find this gem so close to home! It's in a nice spot right on the river next to some beautiful houses and an old train station, and the ambiance was comfortable and welcoming. We knew we were in the right place once the tasty margaritas and salsa/chips came to our table. Our enchiladas were especially good - make sure to try the zuisa sauce! We waited nearly a year to eat Mexican food after moving back east from California, and this place exceeded our expectations. I'm Colombian and I went with my peruvian boyfriend to Pico de Gallo for dinner and the food was so GENUINE AND AMAZING!!! We havent found any latin food this good in albany and are already talking about coming back, dont hesitate about coming here you wont be disappointed! This was our first time at Pico and liked the food , but not the service. When we walked in we were seated right away. We had 3 different people come to our table and weren't sure who our waitress was. The hostess also was the waitress and bar maid. They ran out of a premium tequila and offered another which was good. We asked for more chips and never got them until we asked again. We ordered drinks and they took a while to get to the table. The food was good and liked the view of the river. I would go back and try it again. I had the Chicken fajitas and they were great, so it's worth it to go back. read more

I agree with other reviews. There is real potential here to catch all the former Destinos patrons. Having said that, don't know how many tries people will give them if they remain understaffed. Food was A+, but service slow... items forgotten or they forgot to mention they RAN OUT of rice/beans and did not offer a substitute or a courtesy dessert etc. Please turn it around fast... we want you to succeed! read more

A great addition to our little town. Moises and Carlos made a reputation working for a Mexican restaurant in Chatham, and here they are on their own, free to explore their creativity and do their own thing. So far the menu is limited, but what they cook and serve are things that they do very, very well. They use lots of fresh, local ingredients and each plate is prepared with care and attention. The meals a very affordable. The desserts are fabulous, and the setting is unique with a wonderful view of the Hudson at sunset! They've only been open a couple of weeks - and I was away for part of that - but I've already eaten there twice, and plan to go again soon. A great new choice, only twenty minutes from the Albany State Plaza and about the same from Hudson or Chatham. Well worth the ride. read more

Menu is limited, but the food is wonderful . The staff is completely inept. The service is inexcusably slow. There's absolutely no reason why 3 wait staff can not efficiently serve 8 tables. Waited 45 minutes for burritos. Not acceptable. No drink refills offered and we finally had to ask for the check after waiting for 20+ minutes. This place is a dream come true. A sweet, friendly, delicious Mexican restaurant in a pretty village with an extraordinary view of the Hudson. The best mole sauce I've ever had. Everything is so good! I wish they had refried or pinto beans instead of the somehow boring black beans, but that's a small quibble. I look forward to eating everything here. Many times. **Update: Much better servers have been hired. Great food, attentive service, a great find! Food & Terrible Service. We were incredibly psyched to hear that a Mexican restaurant had opened right down the road. Even more exciting was that it was connected to Destino- a restaurant that we used to enjoy. The food is top notch, with fresh ingredients and good portion sizes. The only downside are the waiters. We waited over 10 minutes before getting menus, then another 10 before ordering. Our waiter was dismissive and wholly uninterested in providing polite service. Drinks were put on the table - an unopened can of beer (sans glass) was thrown down with no comment. Same with entrees. After asking for the check (waiting another 10 minutes after eating), our check was tossed onto the table with no comment and we were ignored again. We finally paid with cash- in order to leave. It's unfortunate, because we really did enjoy the food. I wish we could say we will be back soon...but the service left such a bad taste in our mouths, we probably won't read more

This location seemed doomed till now. It has been open 2 months and there are lines to get in... and they did not even have a liquor license yet. Food is great, but they are working out some kinks in the service dept. Well worth it, location is great and finally... finally a restaurant that has really great food!!!!!!
