We stopped in before it was closing on a Wednesday. It has expanded since its original opening, with the main entrance housing its line of tea-infused skin and body care line of products. Next door is the tea room and tea bar, where you can smell and taste the various teas from around the world. We did pick up sample sizes of the mini ($4.99 CAD for a 10 cup supply); Mango Shade, Earl Green, and Darjeeling. Once packaged, you take it back to the front where you checkout. I was trying to remember what a tea shop is supposed to smell like...strangely I have no recollection of it. And the smell here was pretty sterile...assuming it is a lot better if fresh steeped tea was being served.

But if you can toughen your hide and treat this guy like he is God's answer to the perfect pen sales guy then you will have a good experience. He taught me several things that I did not know before. He had a big selection of fountain pens. He spent plenty of time with me. I got a price on an Aurora 88 that was $50 less than the online price (it did not have the box though). but he also threw in a free bottle of ink. I wanted a fine nib and he said it was fine. When I got home it was much thicker than all my other fines so I brought it back. I was sort of expecting a fight as the guy is short and confident with some of his comments. He said that all the Aurora nibs are hand made and there is some variation. He said that he wanted to make sure I was happy with the pen so he found another Aurora that was fine or extra fine (they are not marked) and he swapped nibs. I already had inked and used the first nib so I was surprised he did that. So..... tuck your pride away for 15 minutes and learn a lot and get a great deal. It may also give you a funny story to tell to your friends.

After a few attempts of explaining what I was looking for and explaining why I would need to try one of his pens before I bought one, I decided to walk away stating "I'm sorry I'm leaving, I don't like this", to which he said as I was walking out "If you want expert advice you need to listen." All in all a tragically bad experience which could have been a wonderful experience if he was easier to get along with. Very condescending and rude, yet knowledgeable on his products. Sorry, dude.

When I found out they offered massages and facials, I signed up to have my meatmush slathered in lavender. I might still feel bad, but I was going to smell GOOD. All Over. I decided on a lavender facial and an essential oil massage. My sad cadaver perked up a bit, it's tattered chest heaved a tiny bit of herb infused hope. I walked down two doors to their little downstairs spa. My lovely massage therapist used many skintastic elixirs, but my fave was the organic Lavender oil made from lavender grown right there in Victoria, B.C. Herbs from different areas really do have different characteristics. This oil smelled like a gorgeous soft fragrant meadow on a sunny day in the spring. Like purple trees in May. Since it was actually a drizzly grey cooooohhhld day in February this was some purple spell she cast.
