Would not recommend. Very little props and choices and the props were really gross and dirty. The staff was nice but the photos didn't turn out good at all. This is my second time to this location. Had a appointment scheduled for 12/4/21 @ 12:55 P.M Wasn't seen until 1:40. After photos were taken we were told it would take 20 mins to upload photos that we could walk around until then. Wasn't until 2 hours later we were finally seen to look at our pictures. Absolutely ridiculous same thing happened last year around this time. Short staffed & not worth the price. I took my 4yr old and 10 month old daughters here for their photos since I got a Groupon deal that I couldn't pass up. I had scheduled my appointment online a week before. We got there 10 minutes early and was seen immediately when we arrived. Aaliyah was our photographer and I cannot believe how amazing she was with my girls. My 4yr old was nervous and shy at first but with Aaliyah's warm personality, she was able to make my daughter feel comfortable quickly. Aaliyah automatically knew how to position my daughters poses and with the perfect backdrop too. Kudos on her great work. I highly recommend this picture people location. read more

We have been using the Picture People in Buy Buy Baby, on Laguna, since my first daughter was born, five years ago. For the first few years we were very happy with the service and product. We've seen a noticeable decline overall in the past few years. Yesterday we went to get our annual holiday pictures done. The photo session seemed fine, a little rushed, but we get that. Then before our viewing the coworker told us she had to use the restroom and would be right back. Fine, whatever. We didn't need to know that, but okay. When she comes back, the viewing is definitely rushed. In our euphoria, it all went by so fast, we didn't even notice how bad the pictures were. Out of the 21 pictures, there were three that were acceptable. The rest either have terrible cropping (parts of people lopped off), bad layout (improper placement of subjects, edge of the background showing, etc.) or really bad lighting, like cell phone photo quality lighting control. Went In to take newborn photos and they had no wraps no props nada. My daughters photos came out very bland. The guy didn't even do flattering poses. I got the cd and in every photo there was lint/dust from the background everywhere. The photos looked like an amateur took them. Luckily I know my way around photoshop and Lightroom so I touched them up and made them semily good. Save your self the time/money. Go to JC Penny's instead. read more

BEWARE!!!!! There is a THIEF and her name is BRITTANY R. Went to take my our family photos with our newest addition on 12.28.14, right after XMAS. Unfortunately, my GPS on my phone was turned off (accidentally and 1st time ever being turned off!!!!) all my XMAS eve and XMAS pictures & videos did not get backed up, I had HIGHLY CLASSIFIED GOVERNMENT INFO on my phone, fortunately it was locked with a PIN - GOOD LUCK IN UNLOCKING MY PIN BRITTANY R!!!!! Anyways, I filed with Elk Grove PD, officer interviewed her and all, she did an ADMISSION OF GUILT, but unfortunately, because the security videos from Buy Buy Baby was not clear enough and close enough to show that she did TAKE MY PHONE OFF THE COUNTER, they cannot actually charge her!!!!! Security video showed her running after me after I left their counter, however, when I went back the next day and confronted her, she denied going after me, BUT when the officer asked her the same question, she told him that she went after my because I had left some coupons on the counter and she wanted to give it back to me.... wait she forgot, the only coupons I had were IN MY PHONE!!!!! WTF!!!!! Additionally, I was NOT going to pay them $162 for the picture CD after what had happened, so right after work the next day, I went home to pick up the CD and drove back to the store and demanded a refund not realizing they have a ZERO REFUND POLICY on CD's, did BRITTANY hesitate to get a manager's approval for the refund, NOPE! She SIMPLY refunded me my money back with no hesitation whatsoever! Robert, the other employee, heard me demanding for my refund and came out, "Brittany, what are we refunding?" Brittany snaps at Robert and replied, "Nothing Robert, hurry up and get back to work, so we can get out of here on time!" Robert got scared and simply went back inside and did whatever he was doing or needed to do and left us alone. District Manager, Amy Leroc, store manager, Teresa AND Rachelle were both informed about the incident, as well as all the managers at BuyBuyBaby, but GUESS WHAT!!!!! BRITTANY R. the CELL PHONE THIEF STILL WORKS THERE!!!!! I Just called today at 3:30pm and was told by Kiesha that Brittany was off today!!! SERIOULY PICTURE PEOPLE!!! I was giving you guys the benefit of the doubt, even the officer who interviewed and interrogated her states 99.99% HE KNOWS SHE STOLE MY PHONE but since there is not any clear evidence to charge this theif, the District Attorney's office will not pursue the case........ My phone is flagged STOLEN with my carrier, so good luck trying to activate it and if you sold it for some cash, I hope you choke on that money! KARMA WILL GET YOU! In October 2012, I went to Arden Mall People's picture and paid over $200 for my photo's. Upon checkout the photographer informed that I was eligible for FREE membership. So I thought to take pictures at the Elk Grove store that's close to my house. Before going to the store, I called several times within the month to make appointment but no one picked up the calls. Within the same week, I called more than 5 times and no responses. So on January 13th, I decided to walk-in for pictures. When I reached the destination, the cashier asked me whether I have an appointment. So I told her NO because I tried calling and no one picked up the calls. I narrated my story that I called several times within the month, week and day before coming.. She replied, we're so busy so we don't pick up the calls and said we should have left them voicemail. At one point, I did leave them voicemail but no one responded. So I asked her if she had any opening for the day and she responded none. So we decided to make an appointment on the spot for the following week. During the process of making an appointment the lady became nice and offered to take our pictures but for us to wait like another 5 minutes. I was shocked but happy for her being nice. But kept wondering why she said no at the first place. During the checkout process I told the cashier, I have membership and she looked up and said, no you don't in our system. I told her to check through my phone number, names and etc. I even went to the extend of showing her the proof of my membership on my cell when I log into the People picture account. Later, I told her need to speak to the Manager. She told me to wait because she was helping someone. After making me wait for 15 minutes for the manager, the girls returns and conveys to go back to Arden Mall because they made a mistake at that store. And at the store they should reactivate my membership into the system. Their system is connected with Arden system and it's no picking up my eligibility at their store. I was upset with that so I walked out of the store and called the Arden Mall from my cell phone. Within seconds, the people at Arden mall picked up the call and replied, our systems are not linked. The Manager should know that. The procedure is the Elk Grove store is suppose to call Arden Mall to verify the eligibility manually. I returned to the store and informed about my conversations which happened to be the Manger. She rang the Arden store and verified. She could have done that at the first place instead of making me go through the hassle. And she didn't apologize. I informed her that I'll put a comment on YELP about her personality of handling customer issues. Also, the picture print outs quality were different from Arden Mall. The cashier told me they don't have similar equipment so picture qualities are not the same. If you are asking people to pay a high price and it's set on stone for all the stores then picture quality should be the same too. It's a crappy store with crappy staffs. read more

I only come to Picture People when I have a Groupon and only need something very specific. When I do have to come to Picture People I make sure I always have a reservation and I try to come to this location because it seems the least hectic and overcrowded. Even better is to come on a weekday morning, if you can. Weekends are always the busiest at any Picture People location. The Picture Peoples located in the malls are almost always mobbed with people and you wait for hours, whereas I have only ever seen one or two other families at this location and have never had to wait more than 10 or so minutes. On this occasion I just needed one 8x10 of my 3 year old son for what we call our "progression wall", which is basically a picture of each of our kids at age milestones. Generally I prefer to use photographers who will take pictures on locations, rather than in studios as we have very active children and find that posed pictures can be a painful experience. Oddly, this year my oldest son's school pictures came out really well, so we just needed a picture of the little one. Thankfully a Groupon was available, which meant we were able to get the 8x10 we needed along with a few other prints for $19. Granted we could only get one pose, but that's all we needed anyway. I told the photographer what we were looking for and unfortunately the photographer continued to take pictures way past what I felt we needed and my son started to melt down. Also I feel the photographers are not very experienced as they would take one shot and then look at the photo, rather than snapping a bunch at a time. I found they often missed the truly cute pictures of my kids that experienced photographers know how to capture. We had to come back for some of the prints because the printer had problems, which was a bummer. I do like that you get your pictures right away typically rather than some studios where it can take weeks. We will continue to come to this Picture People when we need small orders of simple things and have a coupon. read more

I have been a member for two separate years. Used to always go to the Arden location. Thrilled when I found the Elk Grove location opened. However it has really been a terrible experience here. They don't answer the phone. I onky made them in person. When you show up for an appointment, they do not take you at your time because they are behind schedule. Someone apparently is always not showing up for shift. My last experience was the straw that broke the camel's back. I went in to get holiday pictures of my three kids who are under 7. I wasn't happy with the pictures they took so they offered to let me come back another day to continue up the session. (For any parent who works full time and has three kids, you know what a pain it is to do this...) I did so and the next session was even worse. The photographer took the pictures from such an angle that the line where the backdrop met the floor was seeming to go straight thru my kids heads. I couldn't use any of the photos. Plus, every picture had a mark/smudge and when I asked about it, they said they had a cracked lens...but don't worry they could photo shop it out. Seriously?! What kind of outfit do they think they are running?! I ended up not ordering anything and had no holiday pictures. I will never ever ever go back to this location. A bunch of amateurs work here. Ruining picture people's reputation. I don't expect this location to stay in business for long if they don't improve their customer service. read more

We have been coming to various Picture People locations since our daughter was born. We are at the point where we wait for a 50% off coupon on the CD, or a similar deal, then we go. This was our first time at the Elk Grove location. Aaliyah was the only person working both the front and as the photographer. She went above and beyond to make sure our two-year-old was comfortable. (She had a bad experience during Christmas photos at the Roseville Picture People, and was very afraid of the studio itself). Aaliyah got down on the floor with her, let her look at the camera, and even press the "test" button on the flash a few times. Soon she was relaxed and happy. I was completely shocked! Our photos turned out lovely. Highly, highly recommend this location and especially Aaliyah. Fantastic employee, the kiddos adored her. read more

I was excited when this location opened inside Buy Buy Baby so that I no longer had to go to the mall to get pictures done. However, I have been pretty disappointed with this location. First off, no one ever answers the phone. The last time I tried to make an appointment I was calling for 2 hours and no one ever picked up. I finally went in to the store and the girl told me that during the week they usually only have 1 person working so they don't answer the phone. I suggested that they get an answering machine and she said that you can leave a message when you call. Well, when you call a recording picks up which reads off their hours, at no point does it say you can leave a message so I didn't even realize it was an option. You're better off just using their online scheduling system. I went in 2 weeks ago to have my son's picture taken and when they were showing me the proofs she had to retouch every photo because there was a defect on their lens. This is a portrait studio! You should not be using faulty lenses. I selected the pictures I wanted and waited for them to be printed. The quality of the pictures is definitely not as good as pictures I've had at other Picture People locations. Not sure if they're using different equipment or what but I wasn't thrilled with the result for the price I paid. This location is definitely much less crowded, noisy/chaotic than the Arden location, however I think the quality of pictures at the Arden location is better for some reason. The staff is pretty friendly but they are always trying to upsell you their portrait membership which is great if you just had a baby and you plan on taking 3mo, 6mo, 9mo and 1yr pictures like a lot of people do, but otherwise it's not worth the price. read more

Went to take our annual family pictures yesterday and we were definitely expecting our kids to be uncooperative and unruly. What we didn't expect is for our photographer to be amazing with them and have our son actually smile for some pictures (with the enticement of candy of course lol). I didn't catch our photographer's name and I wish I did, but I don't think our family has ever had such a successful shoot that didn't have any hitches (last year my son was asleep through it all!) She was wonderful and patient and didn't make us feel rushed PLUS we were still in our allotted 20 minute timeframe. Aaliyah the manager was an absolute delight and I don't think I will ever go back without knowing she is there. The photographer was great, however they seem to book appointments very close together which made us feel rushed. We had to return the following weekend because we couldn't get a good photo with my toddler son (he was scared and clingy) in the short amount of time & other customers were waiting. We got a couple good photos of both of my kids smiling the second time around minus the fact that they were poorly cropped. When they showed us the photos on the screen, some of them showed the stool and props on the side of the backdrop. This place is a joke. I thought my experience 2 years ago was bad pSsh this place just got worse since then. I came in for my son's 1 year photo and only half liked one pose. It was a different photographer. So I gave this place a break and bought 2 groupons hoping after a year they would be better, but they proved me wrong. I came in during Christmas for family pictures and had Amanda. She was horrible, horrible attitude and photography skills. Then tried to blame us for not cooperating, but that's all we did was cooperate by coming in early, doing all her suggested poses and even ended our session early due to our cooperation and in the end still got shitty pictures. The pics were dark, blurry and we looked super tan when we're white as snow. We came in for family Christmas photos and left with 1 picture of my two boys. That's how bad it was. It took me 3 months to painfully make an appointment and redeem my 2nd groupon, but Jasmine reminded me why I should never come back. I asked if Robert would be the photographer the day I made my appointment (because his skills were impressive based on my previous review) and she let me know he no longer works there. Then I asked who the photographer was that day and she refused to disclose saying "we're not allowed to tell our schedules" I'm asking for name of photographer not your schedule. So dumb. So then I just scheduled an appointment and of course the same spill on arriving early since it was their lunch and be dressed blah blah. If you expect customers to be prompt then I would expect the same courtesy in return. After I hung up with Jasmine I came on yelp to see if anyone encountered her and of course people have, negatively. So I canceled my appointment via their email confirmation because Jasmine's tone on the phone was already unpleasant. Too bad Robert left, that would be the only reason to stick it out for decent pictures. Now it's not even worth it. I would not be surprised if this picture people location goes out of business. They're obviously on groupon for a reason. As for my groupon I will be trading it in for cupcakes because that's what you'll need to eat after all the staff's bitter attitude and unprofessionalism. Bait n Switch. Scammer photo people. Here's the con: they put out an Ad on Groupon to get you in. The groupon deal gets you 6 photos of only 1 selected shot which is a scam. But this is the big one. When you're done, they up-sell the crap out of you; packages, frames etc. Here's the big trick, they take 100 shots but you can only pick 1 photo. Now if you want those other 99 miscellaneous pictures that were taken during the shoot. You have to pay $90 to get those 99 files on a CD. See how it works. It's takes place all in about 10 minutes time. Sweet huh? Just files, no prints, nothing. You can imagine an old lady walking out with $1000 in fees if she goes with the frames and other misc prints. It's a con that works because children's photos are involved. I would like to start by saying that I have been a loyal customer and member of Picture people for 8yrs. I was very sad when ownership changed and my favorite photographer/manager left the company. I always enjoyed coming in for portraits with a photographer that had built a relationship with my child to add to her comfort level.    Thankfully for us, last year we were blessed to have Aaliyah work on one of our shoots. Aaliyah was patient, professional and kind... I can honestly say that I was seriously considering finding a new studio for our business but the customer service given by Aaliyah has me wanting to give Picture People another chance.  Last month we visited this location and once again we were fortunate enough to schedule with Aaliyah. I was pretty disappointed with the service received. I was running late for my appointment due to a car accident on the freeway (traffic) and I had called to give Picture People a heads up and they were nice about it. We were maybe 8-10 minutes late and after checking in, we weren't called back for another 25-30 minutes. The photographer asked me if I had any preferences for how I envisioned the photos (they were for graduation) and the photo session seemed fine enough, but there was no point in telling the photographer any preferences (face shots and half body, straight on) because she took several full body and the posing was so awkward, especially since they were for graduation. Additionally, when viewing the photos, many of the shots were off-centered. The guy who showed us the photos seemed quite odd and off, as well. While viewing the photos, there were some that seemed promising but when I asked him if he could center the photo more, he didn't. Now we're left with photos that are not only awkwardly posed (imagine very old-lady-oil-painting-photo posing.... sitting in a chair, very erect and hands crossed on lap with legs crossed) but they're also completely off-centered. After paying we were told it would take 20 minutes to print the photos and we waited for an hour and 10 minutes. The overall session from check-in to receiving our prints was two hours and 20 minutes. read more

DO NOT GO HERE. It's a CATTLE CALL. They do not care about your pictures or you're family. I would rate this place a minus 10 stars if I could. We are a family of five, with a small toddler. We booked our appointment a week in advance for Dec. 10th, at 5:40pm for family Christmas pictures. After getting the whole family ready and going out to the Picture People, in the rain, it looked like we were going to be about five minutes late. I called their direct number to give them a courtesy call, as to not give our appointment away, but no one ever answered their phone. On the 4th call attempt, I started to leave a voicemail and a guy answers the phone mid-message and clearly says "If you are more than 2 minutes late, we will have to take the next on time appointment, and you will have to wait until the next appointment cancels or does not arrive..." in an extremely rude tone. I let him know were were parking our car, and we will be right in and asked if they can still see us? He goes on to interrupt me, and says "By the time you get here, you'll be late - so you shouldn't come in at all, we are so "popular tonight" and you should reschedule for another day." I'm shocked and speechless at what this person is telling me, since being in customer service for over 20 years, have NEVER experienced such horrible service manner on the phone. I asked to speak to a manager, and he gladly says "Sure!" and puts me on hold. The manager (or person acting as) is a woman named Jasmin. I let her know our situation over the phone as I'm walking into the studio and she responded like a rude robot, restating their policy. As I check in at their front desk I notice that the issue is not us being late, but that they are very behind themselves. So they punish their customers? I waited in line to check in for another 3-5 minutes and observed the complete lack of customer service from a manager to other people in front of me. I observe her talking very blunt with another lady and her kids, rolling her eyes, waving her hands in really rude gestures to the customer and giving very rude looks. VERY UNPROFFESSIONAL and complete lack of how to talk to people. THIS PERSON, "Jasmin", DOES NOT CARE ABOUT HER JOB. While we waited patiently, the "manager" Jasmin and the caucasian guy who I talked to on the phone (he edits the pictures with people at the computer.) NOT ONCE looked up to say hello, acknowledge us or say "thanks for waiting." NOTHING. I observed her the whole hour we were waiting in the waiting room - Jasmin had a rude look on her face, is dressed like she just rolled out of bed (and she's the manager?), talking under her breath to her male assistant about the poor families just waiting to have their picture taken. To our utter surprise, they started checking customer voicemails on speaker phone, so loudly that we could hear every word in the waiting room, as they did this, we actually heard the manager call someone a Bi--h behind the curtain! Horrible.. My husband heard this as well and just as we were about to leave, I noticed that the 6:40 appointment hadn't shown up. To see whether Jasmin and her male assistant were doing this out of sheer spite to our family, I asked "How long again can someone be late before they have to wait to have their pictures taken?" Jasmin rudely and vaguely replies " A couple minutes.." I wait, and exactly at 6:44, the 6:40pm shows up and she gladly takes them in for their pictures. I step in to point this out, how we'd been waiting for over an hour, and she decided to take them in and they were late? At this point, Jasmin the "manager" was punishing our family on purpose, because I made a complaint on the phone. When we asked for the corporate number, Jasmin blatantly took out a black Sharpy marker, and wrote on a large postcard the corporate number and said "Thank You".. as she handed it to us." there's something seriously wrong here. When we left we verbalized how disappointed we were about what we just experienced to both Jasmin and her assistant, and all they said was "Ok." No apologies, or at least say, "Hey, lets see what we can do..." NOTHING. Just "Ok." IMPORTANT NOTE: This Picture People is NOT affiliated with Buy Buy Baby, even though they are located within their building. The people at Buy Buy Baby are very friendly and professional. A woman working at the cash register actually said this is NOT the first complaint they've had on the people who work at Picture People. (Not surprising after reading all of the Yelp reviews...) Jasmin and her male assistant, run this place like a cattle call, very rude, below sub-par professionalism, and no customer services skills at all. This woman must want to be fired, because I've never experienced someone so unprofessional and uncaring about a business in my life. After we came back to the register she said she can't take our pictures because she has to get other stuff done and she took walk ins. On the top of that she was very rude. Me and my husband made several requests that we have a little baby.It took us more than 50 mins to drive over and it's not written on the website and they didn't tell us over the phone that they cancel the appt if you are 2-3 mins late. We are never going back there again. We never had this kind of negative experience from any picture people before. I took my 6 month old for pictures and the photographer seemed to rush through the process and I guess it wasn't a good idea to change her clothes for pictures in a 2nd outfit because she took even fewer pictures after doing so. Also they seem pretty expensive for reasons I cannot understand since they do not have any great backgrounds nor cute props. In the end I ordered the expensive disc and a few 8 x 10s and the prints had some kind of lines through them; something was wrong with the printer so I had to wait and come back another day after the printer had been fixed. Of course I had to call them and find out that I could come pick up my pictures even though they took my phone number and said they would let me know when the pictures were ready. These people either do not know how to deal with families and children, or they just straight up don't care. First of all, Keisha (I believe that was her name) was a very good photographer, she worked pretty well with my girls and I was happy to work with her. The session started late even though we were a half hour early,and they tell you to arrive ten minutes early. Then after we were done taking pictures they made us wait at least an extra 10 minutes more until we even got to view the photos. Is it really necessary to enlist two customer services reps to deal with somebody's bill over the phone while you have a family waiting for you to help them? They didn't even care or acknowledge that we were standing there waiting patiently, actually the head manager was ignoring us completely. At least the girl who viewed the pictures with us told us it would just be a few minutes longer, though neither women were smiling or seemed eager to help us at all. My kids are toddlers, so of course the meltdowns started and I had a hard time picking pictures. We had been there a long time already, you can't make your customers wait like this! Who hired this manager/supervisor or whatever she is supposed to be? She knows nothing about customer service, did not appear to be a people person at all, and you can tell her bad management is reflected through her employees. I have worked in customer service at various high end establishments my whole life, so trust me, I know what bad customer service is. I could go on and on and on about what they did wrong and what they should have done instead. Picture People needs to send it's employees to a seminar on customer service, I don't know how a business can continue this way. Some other things I don't like are the fact that you can't even view your photos online until 48 hours later and you can't log in to your session without codes and passwords they are supposed to email to you. They got my email address wrong by the way, so I had to call back and ask why I didn't receive my email. They also only keep your pictures for 7 days which is a downer. They also did not have the props used in pictures advertised on the website, so I didn't really even get what I came in for in the first place. I am NEVER coming back here again. read more

The service here is definitely sub-par. The place is tiny and not fully staffed. There's only one person there at a time for the front desk and taking the photographs. I went there with a groupon that included 8 photo sheets, a 16x20 and one digital image. At the end of the session she was trying to send me off with only the 8 photo sheets. I gave her my phone for her to look at groupon but obviously she wasn't paying attention. She got on the phone with her manager regarding the 16x20 and was told that i would be getting it in the mail in a couple of weeks. It's been months and no 16x20. If I could give zero stars, I would. We had an appointment at 3:20. We showed up at 3:25. We were coming from Sacramento and there was traffic. We got there and they told us that since we were 4 min late, we have to wait for the next appointment to see if they show up on time. If they dont, they will get us in. If they do then we wait for the next appointment. So we turned into a walk in. They said there was only one photographer. There were two. I wish they would have told us about the 4 min rule the day they called to confirm the appointment. What a waste of time. I will never come here again. read more

Took my kids and family to get our picture done on 01.25.2020. We had aliyah . She was great with the kids and made them smile. My kids felt comfortable which made it easy to have nice aNd genuine smiles. I recommend asking for her only. We did our picture here 2 years ago and the lady that did it previously didn't know got to pose us or make us feel comfortable. We took a lot of picture but only like 1 for the family picture. I bought the flash's drive but wish they had a better and cheaper deal. $160 for a 1gb flash drive with 19 picture is not worth it. I wish they did CD or had other deals that was cheaper . These are family picture so we aren't planning on spending so much when going. Especially if you did the Groupon deal. You want to save. would go back for the groupon deal and purchase a better one. read more

Yelp doesn't allow -5 stars, unfortunately. Horrible experience on Labor Day holiday. Despite being told over the phone my appointment had been rescheduled, when I arrived on time today I was told I did not have an appointment. This is after my wife had a special hair session, our twin 1.5 year old boys had their new outfits and haircuts, our daughter had her special dress. Literally, hours and hours of preparation. The single employee tried to squeeze us in before the next appointment that was unconfirmed. We had some family portraits taken before the next appointment arrived. Out of courtesy for the next appointment we stopped our pictures midway. After waiting 30 minutes, my wife was told that our pictures were deleted??? Why in the world would a photographer delete photos. It was extremely difficult just to capture those ones with the twins. So after all the time, effort, and money spent in preparation for the photos we ended up with -- nothing. :( read more

My daughter and son in law used this photo studio today for their 8'day old daughter. My daughter was wanting very specific types of shots and we had several changes of clothing for the baby. Ashley was our photographer and I cannot say enough nice things about her. She was very professional, knew how to work with newborns. She was wonderful with the baby, and got amazing shots. She took her time with the shoot and made sure we were happy with the poses and shot selection. She was also very helpful afterwards with the selection of photos and the package purchased. All the pictures came out fantastic and everyone (including the baby) went home happy! read more
