I was told you can only buy package deals which start at $650 and there "special is $199" they charged $20 for the session fee. Just something to think about because JC penny allows you to buy items a la cart and we always take our Christmas pics and cards, and only spend about $50 with their specials, good quality too. They don't tell you about prices obviously until you are there after your session and I wish I hadn't assumed, I purchased the "specials package" but I feel dooped & will not be going back. read more

I took the kiddos for pictures this past weekend and we had a pretty good experience. The photographer that we worked with was very nice and patient with us. They only gave us a plain white or black background so that was a bit boring. I purchased a Groupon deal for $16 and thought it was a pretty good deal, but boy was I wrong. You can only select 1 pose! How difficult is that. They do not sale individual sheets of other poses. Our only option was to purchase the CD for $99!!!!! I was floored. I could've gotten a much better deal at JCP, gotten a variety of background options and saved a fortune. The Groupon was definitely not worth the trip to Memorial City Mall and I wouldn't return. read more

We've been to the Picture People before in other cities, so there were some things that I was prepared for... one to two hour wait times before you get your photo and their insisting that you sit around patiently for the photos. I must say this works really well for a photography studio that caters to children. But I always get a little weak in the knees from a good Groupon. Firstly, booking the appointment was easy. You can do it online or just call. And they were flexible on times. Unfortunately, this is because they will make you wait half an hour before you get your photo taken. The young lady who served as our photographer really had no idea what to do with our 4-year-old, who granted was not having a good day. The lady basically stood there waiting for us to do something and taking random photos of our kid stomping around. Maybe it was her first day. At least she could hold the camera. After about half an hour, Frederick the manager came by. He was really amazing and got a grumpy kid to smile and laugh. But sadly he had to leave after only a few photos. Needless to say, we didn't get many good photos. The worst part was the wait afterwards. When they asked us to wait there, they make it seem like they are about to print it any minute. But the printer was broken. They insisted it would only take 15 minutes. And after an hour, I ask. And they said they were still working on it and that it was coming up soon. I had waited through lunchtime and was hungry. But I did what was asked and waited. Husband and I took turns walking the kid around the mall and dying a slow death in the waiting area. I ask again a little after that. Still working on it. After three hours, hubby asks again and come to find out that the photos had already been ready. Perhaps an hour ago. And we were sitting a mere four feet in front of the counter. But they insisted they had called loudly several times. Don't waste your time. Literally. Save your money and hire a real photographer. I've found way better photographers on Craigslist than this. read more

After waiting an hour for our appointment, we were finally seen by Casey, who did a wonderful job. He got a few really good shots and was great with my dogs. When we were deciding on the picture for our prints, I asked if I could have the photos touched up a bit. The younger african-american gentleman states loudly, "On a Groupon?!" and gives me a snide look. I quickly say "nevermind". WHY can't I pay extra to have my picture touched up a little? I waited about 25 minutes on a Saturday afternoon to be seen then the actual pictures took less than 5 minutes. We showed up on a Saturday afternoon without an appointment, so they asked us to come back in 30 min. We agreed, and took a stroll around the mall. When we came back, we were served promptly. Frederick did a fantastic job taking pictures. He went out of his way to make our 1 year old smile!! Their customer service is also spectacular! Here's why: The package we bought included 2 canvasses. When they arrived, the following Thursday, I didn't like the texture of one of them. I went back to the store, and Michael immediately agreed to order a new one. It arrived today, and I couldn't be happier with it. Overall, this was a great experience! Had a 1:00 appointment and showed up about ten minutes early. Didn't have to wait too long to be seen and the photographer was nice and friendly. The pictures came out okay. The quality was good, I just didn't care for how I looked in them. The poses were really nice though. I'd likely just wear more make up next time. Had to wait 20 minutes to view the shots and picked out a pose. Came with a Groupon so got one pose in lots of sizes for cheap. While waiting for photos to print a lot of other people came in with their babies and I got to see how they handled the baby pictures which was so cute. read more

I had to call about three times just to get through to make an appointment. When I arrived we did not start on time we started about 20 minutes later. The poses were very cheesy and the props were even more cheesy. The setup was not very good but they push you to purchase packages starting at $100 plus. Once I stated that I did not like any of the pictures to a different person he finally told me that I can purchase it by the sheet for $20 per sheet. I didn't like 15 takes I only purchased two poses. I honestly believe that we could have took better pictures with our cell phones at the park. Save your money do it yourself or go somewhere and be creative with a nice camera. read more

I went to Picture People on a Sunday afternoon to take my 1 year old nephew to take Christmas pictures. We had a 3:30 appointment but we sat for almost 2 hours until they finally got to us! He was restless and sleepy when they were actually ready for us. The photographer didn't ask us if we wanted a background or props for his pictures. She took pics of him standing in front of a plain white background and it took about a minute. He was sleepy so he did not want to take the pics so she rushed us and didn't give us time to calm him down. When when we finally got to see the pictures it was just his face! She didn't even take any body shots of him. We chose to have the pics of him where he was actually smiling BUT he had a huge booger in his nose LOL. Well we learned our lesson and will not be returning to this place. read more

Had been using this place for years to get photos. Below is what I sent to the company explaining what happened. I understand that I used Groupon, and maybe did not deserve good customer service because of that. But I used the Groupon today to get pictures of my 3 boys taken. I do not recall the Groupon saying I could pick one photo and one photo only. Not one of the pictures with all 3 of my kids came out properly. I was forced to pick the best photo out of all of them (which featured only one child). The man at the front desk continuously attempted to sell me the membership package, an expensive photo package of over $100, or the $100 cd. He claimed he had a coupon making the cd $75, which was too expensive. I left not getting any photos taken of what I wanted done and was charged $18 for 2 5X7 of my youngest kids together. My oldest child was hurt because I was unable to get a photo with him in it and he felt like we did not care enough to get one of him. I tried to get another photo but the man just insisted I should buy an expensive package and said he could sell us the 5X7's just this once for $18 and did not act like we could do that twice. We are done with using Picture People as a photographer and will not be purchasing and more Groupon deals in the future. We waited an extremely long time when we had an appointment, as well. This is a poorly run and managed store and we left with hurt feelings and disappointment. Oh, and you can only get a photo with a plain white background. Normal photography studios have actual colorful or seasonal backgrounds. We will not be back and might try JcPenney in the future, as I am reading much better reviews of them, even though they charge a session fee. read more

We've come to this studio two times for holiday portraits with our pets and usually have a good experience. The price is great with Groupon $16 package but is pretty expensive with no deal so I don't think we would pay $90- $400 for a fifteen minute photoshoot. Yesterday we came in for our annual holiday portrait and only had about 15 shots taken which was a small amount of options but luckiy one did turn out well with the dogs looking and we got the photo/prints we needed. We were the last appointment of the day, and you could tell the staff was ready to leave, which is understandable. However, the staff didn't change the set unless asked, their Christmas props were pitiful and the person who checked us out didn't know anything about the packages or cards available. I went to the one on katy fwy and it was alright at best. I called ahead of time asking if they had props and the woman said yes. Then when I arrived to my appointment there were no props and I asked her about them and she just said that we would use them later which never ended up happening. I purchased the groupon which clearly stated a digital image was included and I never received it. When I called asking about it they said that there must've been confusion so they had me pick up a cd of an unsharable image.... Overpriced packages for little to no options of backgrounds and props. We scheduled an appointment for "the only available time" last Saturday night at 9 PM at Memorial City Mall. When we walked in the two girls in the store were surprised and began fumbling all over themselves telling us they did not know we were coming and that they stop taking photographs at 8:30! Upon our insistence they began making preparations to photograph our family. The session was rushed, to say the least, and the pictures are mediocre, at best. Bringing props with us, as was suggested when we made the appointment was useless as the girl was in such a rush we barely had time to move about in the various poses she suggested. Before we were finished with our session, in walked another couple who also had an appointment. They were photographed as well. To top off the experience the receipt in no way reflects the packages we bought so we do not know if what we paid for is what we got or not. In the future, we will seek out a more reputable studio. read more

Absolutely horrid experience. Our session was thirty minutes late to start, which is exactly the best set up for an impatient two year old. Then, I'm positive our photographer has never worked with a two year old. She seemed convinced she could direct her around like an older child, asking her to sit upright on the stool and tilt her chin as one does with school pictures. Again, my daughter is two. Not five. She enlisted the help of another photographer in an attempt to get my daughter to smile, but they simply got in her face and harassed her until she cried, too scared to do any more. I'm not sure that they understood that she is a person, not a doll. She wasn't a great photographer either. She was slow with the camera, which is a waste of time when trying to photograph a toddler as they are fast and don't hold still as much as older children. The pictures were pretty horrible, serving only to highlight how terrified my daughter was by the end of the session. My last criticism is with their general customer service. She knew we were unsatisfied with the session and due to this was extremely lackluster in presenting the photos. She didn't really even try to act like they weren't completely horrid, merely accepting the inevitable disappointment she knew she had caused. I guess she's honest, which is something. I took my business to another studio that understood what it takes to photograph a toddler and got some wonderful pictures there. The most disappointing part of all of this is that I have used picture people since she was born, but in Virginia. That studio was amazing, which is why I stayed loyal to the company when I moved. Our Family booked a photo Session. Originally we were told the digital images on USB were included as part of the package purchase. Upon returning to pick up the photos - the digital images were not in the package. The manager told me the person who helped me would explain. He was right there but would not take ownership to resolve the issue. Our original bill paid in advance - was over $200.00 & the photographer stated she could give me the Digital photos for an additional $50. plus tax. I am appalled at the bait and switch tactics used by this company and surprised Sears would allow them to be affiliated with their Brand. I will not recommend this company to anyone. read more

I just sent this feedback to Picture People's corporate headquarters, but our experience was so bad that I feel more people should be aware. I had such an excellent experience with Picture People location at the Galleria mall in the past that when I tried to book our annual holiday portraits and found out the location had closed, I decided to try my luck at the Memorial City location. Never again. The word "disorganized" doesn't even begin to describe the chaos inside the store. Despite having made an appointment in advance, they were running a half hour behind schedule when we arrived (by the time we got out of there over 2 hrs later I heard the wait was over an hour). Compared to Hector, the best photographer we've ever had (we followed him from Target's photo studio to the Galleria PP), the very sweet young lady taking our photos clearly had no eye for what she was doing. The results were comically bad. The angles, the lighting, the poses... just awkward and unflattering in almost every shot. At our previous PP sessions we've been hard pressed to narrow down our options from the amazing shots we were offered. It's hard to get an entire group of people to all look great in the same photo, but Hector nailed it every time. This time we were hard pressed to find any we liked enough to order. Then came time to order. Since the results were so bad, but we didn't want to have to come back and wait another hour or two for another session, we would have just ordered a few single sheets. However, I was told explicitly by the gentleman who processed us that we were NOT allowed to order anything but a full $150 package. I have since discovered on their website that this is absolutely NOT true. We were told if we wanted any photos from the session AT ALL, we had to buy a minimum of 10 sheets. So, because we simply didn't have time to do this ordeal again, we managed to cobble together an order. And yes, I cringed at how much I was paying for the quality of what I was receiving. (Can you tell these were photos for the grandparents more than ourselves?) Things went from bad to worse at this point. He told us that we'd have our photos in 10 minutes and then rang us up. We waited... and waited... and waited. In a waiting area full of screaming children, nowhere to sit, and with everyone at their breaking point. After 15 minutes I told my family to keep shopping and I would meet them as soon as I got our photos. After another 15 minutes I asked for a status update and was told there had been a problem with the original printing and they were running them a second time. I waited... and waited... and I wasn't the only one. Several families with exhausted kids who'd gotten their photos taken before us were also waiting. Finally, an hour after being told it would be 10 minutes, I asked again what was the hold up, only to be told that the printer was broken and I would have to come back to get the photos on a different day. There was never any announcement made to the dozens (literally) of people waiting to pick up their photos. If I had not asked directly if the printer was broken I would never have found out. They took my phone number and promised to call when they're ready. That was two days ago. I haven't heard a thing. They have my money, yet I HAVE NO PHOTOS. I'm hoping they will be ready before we leave for the holidays, especially since these photos are intended as a Christmas present. I'm hoping that whenever they're finally ready I will have time to fight traffic to get back to this mall to pick them up, since it is 45 minutes from my house (the Galleria location was only about 15 minutes away). And after I pick them up, I will never set foot in a Picture People again. I was once a loyal and enthusiastic customer. Not any longer. read more

Our photographer was excellent with our kids. Sadly once we got called to the viewing station the staff member who was helping us was very rude. I had received an offer for 3 sheets of one single pose for $10 I called before hand to make sure they were indeed taking this specific offer, I was told yes and to make sure if it was an email to bring it with me to the appointment. I showed the email to the young lady and she basically said well it's better to get the spring package for $200, mind you we only got about 4 good pictures (kids weren't up for a photo session) I kept telling her this is the package I want, and she was not listening to me. Finally she asked another staff member and he said yes we are taking that offer, afrer she spoke to him she went to the back and in a very brute manner came forth and said "I have some bad news about your coupon it has to be printed" I then showed her the email which clearly stated "to redeem this offer show this email with the code on this picture". Even after this she wouldn't honor the offer! We ended up leaving very dissatisfied with our visit to this location. read more

I bought a Groupon and got a great deal for 25.00 I read the reviews so we were prepared. Thank goodness we were there for a couple photo. (Which are very basic & boring poses). I would NEVER bring my children here for photos. Two of the photographers were great with kids. But one guy was so horrible that he was yelling at a 9 month old & stomping his foot in anger to get her to look at the camera. He did not even use a prop to get her to look his way. The staff at the counter start your rolling photos & tell you to decide & they walk away. The entire time they act as if customers are inconveniencing them just by being there and most of the staff make it clear by their actions both VERBAL & Non-Verbal that they clearly dislike all children. We would have purchased a couple of other poses if the sales person had given a s#*t. Management needs to lead by example & expect more from these people. read more
