After an awful one star experience a couple years ago, I hesitated to bring my infant in for pictures. However, things change and I love the same day delivery of the photos so I decided to risk it. I'm so glad I did! Arthur was so great with my 8 month old. He really listened to my vision and gave me the photos I hoped for along with some other creative shots. We will definitely be back again! I wrote down specifications for the print the evening before so that I would not go through what I went through the next day. When I got back the next day, they didn't have my photos ready and said I needed to choose a collage. None of the photos fit in the collage and the sales rep basically said "oh well. That happens to every customer." If they know that is an issue with every customer's photos not fitting into the collage...how is that excellent customer service? I drove out there 2 days in a row (40 minute drive) just to experience horrible customer service. So, the sales rep said "here are your photos" while he handed me the folder. As I'm walking out of the store, I realize the collage that I just spent so much time to make and had to compromise on quality was not even in the folder. Then, I went back to the counter and ask where is the collage? He said "oh I couldn't print it because it was after you paid." WOW! He was just letting me leave without all of my items and not telling me. Then, he said I have to drive back (another 45 minutes) the next day. Also, I did not receive my online copy of the photo. My family and I had an awful experience. We have used Picture People for years and this was the first time we were not pleased at all. We were coming back for Valentine's day family photos, but we are not pleased at all. read more

They are the worst ever! Here is my story, I get there on time for my 5:20 appointment. I notice other families were waiting and one woman informed me that she had a 4:20 appointment, and that they are running behind. I get checked in and told that there were 2 people ahead of me. So when I finally get called into the studio with my kids, but the photographer is still attending to the people before me. So we wait in the studio for about another 10 minutes (it is now around 6:00 pm). She takes 1 picture and leaves the room again for about 10 more minutes because she needs to help the employee upfront with questions/issues. Okay then she starts taking the pictures and starts getting annoyed with my kids because they aren't posing the way she wants them too. At one point she kicks my son's feet to the side, then she started raising her voice at him to move his shoulders over. I am now getting VERY annoyed with her, but I need my holiday pictures so I will endure her nastiness. Once we are done, I go outside and no one is there to help me look at the pictures or even acknowledges that we are done. The one and only customer service employee is still helping the family with the 4:20 pm appointment it is now 6:40 pm! So I figured out how to help myself on the computer, then photographer comes out and tells me I hope you picked a package already then walks away. WHAT, NO ONE WAS THERE helping me!!!!!! So I ask a guy in the back room to help me and he looked at me like I had 2 heads. The guy in the front, who I guess is the only guy helping customers comes over and I tell him that I have no time to pick individual pictures so I will buy the CD (easy sale). He says okay, but I have too fix the green screen photos, well he doesn't know how! he needed to wait for the photographer to finish with another family to be able to help me. THAT was it, I left empty handed, it was now 7 pm, we were hungry, tired and annoyed. I didn't feel a loss because the pictures were okay at best! Some were blurry, the smiles were off. There was no shot worthy of enduring this painful experience. This holiday photo shoot was an epic fail. If you go here pack your patience clear your calendar and bring loads of snacks for the kiddos. read more

I am so upset! I spent $100 and don't have a single picture that I can use for Christmas cards. First they told us they didn't have any record of our appointment, that we rushed to make it to on time. We wanted a picture of my husband and I kissing our baby girl under mistletoe. Well, they cropped out the mistletoe when taking the picture, and my husband's arm is just in the air for no apparent reason. Why would someone do that?! It would've been the perfect picture. I cried the whole way home. My daughter's first Christmas and we have no picture of her to use for Christmas cards. read more

BUYER BEWARE: My husband and I arrived with our 7 month old for Easter pictures. Our photographer Artur was polite and efficient in taking pictures of our baby with much energy and enthusiasm. Though the backdrops were picked out by him without any of our input, we went along for the shoot and were hopeful that we would get some good photos for baby's first Easter. Immediately after our session, we were seated at the computer to review the pictures. Though the green screen photo shot allowed for digital editing with the use of springtime backdrops, there weren't any options for layouts, collages or cards/stationary choices for the amount of money we end up paying. After about 10 minutes reviewing the photos taken, we were told that the only two options we had were to pay $20 per sheet no matter the size (so 8 x 10, 5 x 7, 4 x 6, wallet size all $20) per photo. This seemed odd, but because there was no set price list available for us to review, we were stuck with the only other option: pay $150 for a CD that included all 20 something of the photos...which we did with much regret. The CD included shots that weren't as picturesque or color coordinated with our child's outfit. Do NOT waste the money trying to get photographs here. This company isn't the same Picture People company that existed years prior. Another business has bought it out and the fact that there were no lists of prices for us to review before and/or after our session was an alarming red flag! Do not make the mistake of being swindled into buying photos from this overpriced location, which in the bottom level of Buy Buy Baby Store. Not only were we hit with a high cost for a 20 minute photo session ($150) that included three backdrop changes and no Easter props, we were likely scammed out of our money because there were no advertised prices. When a fellow customer of Buy Buy Baby walked past, she asked Artur was there a price list? He says "No, it depends on the client and session. I make up the pricing in my head." Unfortunately he said this after we paid our money, which was not refundable. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY. Go elsewhere!!! read more

Overall - very happy with my experience here! I really wanted to do a cake smash session for my daughter's first birthday but was discouraged by the outrageous prices I was seeing for some of the boutique photography studios in the area (Over $1,000 in some cases!). And yes, I am fully aware we could have orchestrated this on our own but I really wanted something professional. The Picture People in the Rockville BuyBuyBaby was just what I was looking for. The sessions are 20 minutes long, but I booked a session around 4pm on a weekday and the photographer Maddie (who informed us she isn't a regular at this location), didn't rush us at all. We probably wound up being there for about 40 minutes. She was also really great with my daughter! I am very happy with how the photos turned out. I found the pricing to be competitive. There's no session fee, you just pay for the whatever products you want. The price for the digital images ($150 for 22 images on a USB) seems to be pretty on par with what I've seen elsewhere (for example photos taken at our daycare's picture day are in the ballpark of $70 for 4 images). The USB includes a photo release right on it so you can go ahead and print them wherever you like. We paid $30 more for a frame of three of our favorites! I can't give 5 stars because whoever I spoke to on the phone to get details about the session did not inform us we needed to bring a tablecloth for the cake smash, which left us feeling a bit stressed out in the beginning. My husband had to go search for something in the store while we got started on the shoot. Also the photographer took so many nice pictures (maybe 35-40ish) but apparently you are only allowed to have max of 22 images on the USB ... which really makes no sense to me. I would have happily paid extra for every shot she took. I would most likely come back here in the future. Thank you Maddie. read more

Definitely don't go! I had to wait and hour and a half after my scheduled appointment before we were taken, then had to wait another 30 min or more for them to upload the photos on to a USB drive. We went for Christmas pictures and they had one scraggly looking tree just under 4 ft tall so my 11 year old daughter was taller than the tree. They had a 12 inch candy cane decoration she could hold but that was it. They were rushing us through because they were so backed up and they only take 24 poses. I didn't realize that until the end or I would have said no some of the poses they did because I really didn't like them. Maybe another location would be better. This was the first time I used them. For the past nine years went to Portrait Innovations in Fairfax, VA and it was worth the 30 min drive. They took over 100 shots so if you had closed eyes or a funny look you still had lots of poses to choose from. Unfortunately they closed and the nearest location is over 50 miles away but I am seriously thinking about making the drive next year! read more

I have used this company for 6 years but apparently they went bankrupt. Another company bought the name. My experience this week had my appointment cancelled not told till I dressed my family and showed up. Then came back 2 days later and had to wait 2 hours to get pictures. Said it was so late I had to come back next day to get pictures. Sucks since the print same day is what. I like. When I returned next day they could not find my pictures and forced again wait another 1 hour for them yep never coming here again. read more

The camera they use is a Canon 40D. Your pictures will come out better using an iPhone 7. If you pay extra to have a digital copy of your picture, be prepared for the quality to be so bad, you can't have it printed out. We even confirmed that it would be a high quality file we could print out at 16x20 later. You are better off putting your kid in front of a bed sheet taped to the wall, and using your cell phone, or if you don't have that, buy a throw away camera at the dollar store, it will be twice the quality you'll get here. read more

I can't believe my family hasn't visited sooner! On a whim, I had decided to go ahead and book an appointment at Picture People (on the basement level of Buy Buy Baby). I needed to get my son's 1st birthday photos taken before his birthday, and decided it would be great to grab a family portrait as well. I am beyond happy with our entire experience. The bang for my buck was a highlight, but what made this experience unforgettable was the customer service we received. Each of the associates were on top of their customer service game! Sean kept our son entertained and Ash made sure I was happy with the edits and prints before we left. We will DEFINITELY be back for our next family portrait! I highly recommend! read more

My wife, 1 month and I showed up at the Picture People today for an 11:00 am an appointment. We were running 10 minutes late because we have a baby. We called ahead and left a voicemail because its the courteous thing to do. When we arrived at 11:10 am, no one was around. At 11:14 am a woman emerged from her work area and asked us what we were doing there. We explained we had an appointment and that we were running a bit late. She then explained to us in the rudest of tones that we were late and there wouldn't be enough time to do a newborn shoot because she had a 12 pm appointment. We discussed it with her and decided that even if we didn't get all 18 poses and everything we wanted, that we would still like to go through with the appointment. After all, anyone who has a baby knows that amount of effort it takes just to get out of the house. Not to mention that my wife and I both had to shower and look decent too, so needless to say it was a production in our house this morning from 8 am to when we arrived. Once we had decided to do the photoshoot, we found out that she wasn't even done with her previous appointment yet. She put us in the studio, without saying 4 words to us, then sat with this other couple going over their photos, deciding on packages and portraits. It was obvious she was more interested in upselling them then even looking at us. At 11:30 am my wife and I decided to just walk out and leave. The woman photographer didn't even say a word to us as we walked out the door. It was a terrible experience and whoever this photographer is needs to find a different line of work, preferabbly one where she doesn't deal with people. read more
